Tommaso Spadolini reveals new 90m yacht design: elegance, technology and privacy

Tommaso Spadolini has unveiled the first details of a true floating masterpiece: a 90-metre sports superyacht with very distinctive lines resulting from a joint collaboration with the owner that led to an interior configuration and exterior styling that guarantee high levels of usability.

“ We have worked closely with the owner and his representatives to create a really head-turning design that responds to his three key requirements without sacrificing one iota of practicality – stated Tommaso Spadolini – Capable of speeds around 20 knots, this superyacht had to have the external form of a fast boat: something we have achieved with the strongly curved lines that dip towards the stern. Then we have emphasized proximity to the water by creating a lot of focus around the two-deck beach club and using lots of glass. The internal configuration of the boat has been carefully studied to create the maximum privacy for the owner ”.

Fast lines were a key part of the brief, and from the first hand-drawn sketches, Spadolini conceived a powerful shear for the main deck, emphasized by two strong convex lines for the owner’s and upper decks. The necessary straight lines for bulwarks and decks are cleverly concealed by powerful, flowing curves that peak amidships before sweeping down towards the generous beach club.

The brief required two further key features: the design of the yacht should give guests the sense that they are in close contact with the sea. And it should enable the owner to maintain a high degree of privacy from other guests and crew.

At 90 metres long, Tommaso Spadolini’s design is distinguished by a large beach club area in the stern which, arranged over the lower and main decks, includes a 150 sq. m lounge area with twin fold-down balconies, a gym and bar, a sauna, massage and relaxation area. The bathing platform itself amounts to 65 sq. m and the main aft cockpit above fills another 150 sq. m, flooded with natural light thanks to the shorter overhangs of the deck above.

The beach club also includes an infinity pool measuring 7 x 3m with a glazed bottom, suspended over the bathing platform, offering a unique view of the horizon. The connection to the water is further emphasized by the balconies outside the sliding doors of the upper lounge. The use of glass throughout the main and upper decks with full-height windows is also distinctive.

Attention to privacy was another of the key demands from the outset of this project, and Tommaso Spadolini has made every effort to meet this need, creating a dedicated owner’s deck and closely controlling access via stairs and lift. There are dedicated his n’ hers bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes, a wine cellar, and smoking room with humidor.

“ Discretion and privacy were a big part of the brief – explained Spadolini – We have developed enclosed structures for the stairs and separate crew access so that the owner can be completely cocooned on demand. Sound absorbing materials would be used in doors and bulkheads to ensure total confidentiality, without compromising on the really lavish series of private spaces.”

An outdoor lounge area and a saloon with a swimming pool in the bow complete the layout of the owner’s deck, the atrium of which can be delimited with specially insulated doors to prevent access to the owner’s flats and ensure maximum privacy. With regard to the cabins, it is impossible not to underline the size of the owner’s suite, which features a large bed with a 270-degree view towards the bow and a private lounge area.

The bow area also features six spacious guest cabins, including two VIP cabins. Forward again, there is room for a huge toy garage, which runs to a jet tender and multiple jet skis. The main tender garage can accommodate a 9m boat. A lounge area and a Jacuzzi are located aft, where several options for outdoor entertaining have been developed, including a barbecue area and an outdoor dining table.

Tommaso Spadolini’s design is a perfect combination of elegance and technology, with a focus on privacy and connection to the sea. Once completed, this 90-metre yacht will undoubtedly be a jewel that, whether at sea in the waves or in harbour, will be able to stand out.

“ We have spent many hundreds of hours refining the design of this yacht ,” said Spadolini. “ It is now ready to move to the next engineering stage. Though we are currently studying some larger designs for potential clients, this is the biggest yacht we have brought to such a stage of detail. It is very dear to me, like a member of the family.”

A Summary of Sailing Yacht ATHENA

Originating from the Royal Huisman ship building company in the Netherlands the ATHENA is 90 m 295 (ft) in length. Completed in 2005 the comparatively recent interior design and decor confirms the capabilities from Rebecca Bradley Interior Design and their approach to interior yacht design. Superyacht ATHENA is able to accommodate up to 12 passengers with 22 crew. She is a recent triple masted schooner. She will reach a maximum speed of 19 knots.

The classic beauty ATHENA is a clipper bowed triple masted schooner that was built for internet entrepreneur James H Clark who already owned the 47,4m sailing yacht HYPERION. ATHENA was the winner of the Show Boats International Award for Best Sailing Yacht over 40 Meters in 2004

The New Build & Naval Architecture of Luxury Yacht ATHENA

Dijkstra & Partners was the naval architect involved in the formal nautical design work for ATHENA. Also the company Dijkstra & Partners and Pieter Beeldsnijder Design expertly collaborated on this project. Interior designer Rebecca Bradley Interior Design was commissioned for the overall interior styling. Created at Royal Huisman this vessel was constructed in the Netherlands. She was officially launched in Vollenhove in 2005 before being delivered to the owner. Her core hull was crafted from aluminium. The sailing yacht superstructure component is fabricated mostly from aluminium. The total length of the luxury yacht on deck is 77.04 (252.76 ft). With a width of 12.2 m / 40.03 ft ATHENA has impressive interior. She has a deep draught of 5.77m (18.93ft). She had refit improvement and modification carried out by 2008.

The Main Engines And The Crusie Speed That S/Y ATHENA is Able To Achieve:

The 3516B engine powering the yacht is built by CATERPILLAR. Her propulsion units are twin screw propellers (wartsila 4 blades). The main engine of the ship gives 2000 horse power (or 1492 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The sum output for the yacht is therefore 4000 HP or 2943 KW. The bow thrusters are Holland Roer.

New 90m Superyacht Concept Revealed by Italian Studio Tommaso Spadolini

Italian studio Tommaso Spadolini has lifted the lid on a new 90 metre superyacht concept complete with a split-deck beach club spanning 365 square metres.

Spadolini was born into the luxury yachting sector, with over four, illustrious decades under his belt as a beloved designer within the industry.

His most recent design boasts distinctive sporty lines and a powerful sheer highlighting the main deck, presenting itself as a high quality performance sports yacht with all of the luxury ammenities of a superyacht. The main deck is also accentuated by two strong convex lines carving out the owner’s deck and upper decks.

In terms of speed, she is expected to reach up to 20 knots. She also offers increased onboard privacy across all decks; a defining feature of the yacht's interior layout. 

The straight lines for bulwarks and decks are concealed by flowing curves that reach their widest point amidships before sweeping down to meet the beach club.

The beach club offers a dedicated lounging area complete with unfolding sea terraces. A gym, bar and sauna are also on hand for relaxation and rejuvenation, while a generous swim platform offers direct access to the water. The platform is partially shaded by a seven-metre glass-fronted pool on the main deck above. 

Other features include a touch-and-go helicopter landing pad on the foredeck, a nine-seater cinema and a 200-square-metre sundeck with a second pool area. The concept is well-suited to both private use and luxury yacht charters.

The vessel can host guests across the span of seven cabins, including a dedicated owner's deck with private access via stairs and an elevator that can be sectioned off with insulated doors.

The owner's deck has 270-degree views and dedicated his and hers en suites with their own baths, walk-in wardrobes, a wine cellar and a smoking room with a humidor. An exterior lounge area with forward pool rounds off the owner's deck set-up. 

The main deck is home to an additional six cabins with two VIPs. Forward of the accommodation is the tender garage, which has space for a jet tender and multiple jet skis. 

The 90m superyacht is said to be ready to move into the next stage of engineering.

Nero benefits from some excellent features to improve your charter, notably satellite communications, keeping you connected on any voyage. Take advantage of the on board Wi-Fi and stay connected at all times and in addition you can stay comfortable on board whatever the weather, with air conditioning during your charter.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and steel superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin MAK engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 3,800 nautical miles from her 176,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

When not cruising Nero has onboard an incredible selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to connect with the waters around you. Principle among these are waterslides bringing a sense of fun that all the family can enjoy. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Guests can feel the wind in their hair and jump the waves on one of the two Yamaha GP1300R WaveRunners. If that isn't enough Nero also features towable toys, waterskis, a seabob, canoes, fishing equipment and much more. Nero features three tenders, but leading the pack is a 9.5m/31'2" Cabin Cruiser Tender to transport you in style.

Nero and her crew are available for charter this summer for cruising within the Mediterranean. She is already accepting bookings this winter for cruising in the Caribbean.

90m Voyager completes three year conversion

The 90 metre explorer Voyager has finally completed its conversion after three years in construction.

Previously known as Danah Voyager , the yacht arrived at Dania Cut, Florida in April 2016 to begin a three year conversion from a supply ship into an explorer superyacht. She now ranks as the largest superyacht conversion ever in the USA.

Originally built by US yard Swiftships and launched in 1997 as Candy Trader, her initial LOA was 63 metres when she first operated as a supply ship for commercial works. She was re-named HOS Trader in July 2003, when she was used as an offshore supply ship.

The first part of her conversion began in January 2015. This work included a redesign of her superstructure and lengthening of her hull, as well as a 12.12 metre mid-body extension. She now measures 91.4 metres. Other major steel work was also completed, when a larger bathing platform and helipad were added to the vessel. The work was undertaken by Gulf Islands Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana.

The hull of  Voyager  was then shipped to Fort Lauderdale, where fitting out was completed at Dania Cut. This included repowering and the installation of new generators.

The interiors were believed to be split between two separate contractors, with one working on the guest cabins and another dedicated to the crew quarters. The five-deck explorer has the capacity to house up to 70 crew.

Other key features include multiple galleys, pantries and media rooms, as well as a deep dive centre — one of the primary purposes of this explorer yacht.

At the bridge, a customised console designed by VMAG and manufactured by Radio Zeeland is fitted with touch screen technology, while multiple screens have glass insert panels, not just for improved aesthetics, but to enhance viewing angles and display readability. There is also a glass-touch switch that is integrated to several external components, such as tracking, radar, security cameras, fuel usage, bilge, for additional monitoring and control.

The conversion was project managed by Voyager Maritime Alliance Group (VMAG) - the largest project in their 30-year history.  Kirilloff  and Associates was involved in the concept stages of the project.  Rafael Ochoa  provided the exterior styling in consultation with the owners and Kirilloff.

David Leone, President of VMAG said, "Very little was left untouched throughout the vessel, so it was crucial to manage each section of the refit, in the right order, to avoid any delays and additional costs. With our team of technical engineers, I knew we could accomplish this particularly complex project

"I am particularly proud to create the first ever entire superyacht vessel integration" he added. "This means that anywhere on the vessel there are access points that can monitor any type of activity, i.e. navigation, security, radar, engines, generators, power distribution, fuel, water etc., to enable the captain to have complete control of the vessel, whether he is at the helm, in the sun lounge or in his cabin."

90m Motor Yacht // Tommaso Spadolini

A 90m superyacht design with a sporty look and focus on total privacy for the owner..

The incorporation of swift lines was an essential component of the design brief. Spadolini’s initial hand-drawn sketches featured a commanding shear for the main deck, accentuated by two robust convex lines for the owner and upper decks. The requisite straight lines for the bulwarks and decks were adroitly concealed by dynamic, flowing curves that culminated amidships before descending towards the spacious beach club.

Furthermore, the brief mandated two additional pivotal features. The yacht’s design should impart a sensation of proximity to the sea for guests, notwithstanding its 90-meter length. Additionally, it should afford the owner a high level of seclusion from other guests and crew.

Even among 90-meter yachts, Spadolini’s design distinguishes itself with the extensive area allocated to the aft beach club. The lower and main decks encompass a 150 square meter lounge area with twin fold-down balconies. In addition to a gym and bar, there is a sauna, massage, and relaxation area. The bathing platform itself measures 65 square meters, and the central aft cockpit above occupies another 150 square meters, suffused with natural light due to the shorter overhangs of the deck above.

Each cabin has its en-suite bathroom and ample storage space. The design team has also incorporated large windows in each cabin for natural light and stunning views.

The main deck is dedicated to entertainment and relaxation. It features a spacious salon with comfortable seating and a bar area, perfect for socializing with guests. Adjacent to the salon is a formal dining area that can accommodate many guests. The upper deck offers additional seating areas and a sky lounge, providing a more intimate gathering setting.

The yacht has state-of-the-art technology and amenities to ensure its guests’ comfort and convenience. Every detail, from the latest audiovisual systems to a fully equipped gym and spa, has been carefully considered.

$2 million worth of cocaine seized by U.S. Coast Guard off boat in Caribbean

MIAMI, Fla. (CBS12) — Around 170 pounds worth of cocaine was offloaded in Miami Beach on Monday.

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) said the drugs were intercepted off a boat in the Caribbean.

The cocaine was estimated to be worth more than $2 million. The USCG provided photos of the haul.

The haul comes after the Coast Guard offloaded an additional half ton of cocaine and hundreds of pounds of marijuana on June 5.

Trump wounded in assassination attempt. Biden calls it 'sick': Here's what we know

WASHINGTON − Former President Donald Trump was "fine" Saturday night after an assassination attempt left him with a bullet wound to the ear.

The gunman, identified by the FBI early Sunday as Thomas Matthew Crooks , opened fire on a sweltering campaign rally in Pennsylvania, and was killed by Secret Service agents, officials said. One spectator was killed and two others were "critically injured," the Secret Service said.

“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear," Trump said, adding that he "immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin."

President Joe Biden condemned the shooting, telling reporters, "the idea – the idea – that there’s political violence, or violence in America like this, is just unheard of, it’s just not appropriate. Everybody, every must condemn it. Everybody."

Trump bloodied as shots rang out, spokesman says he's OK

The former president was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when shots rang out and the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee grabbed his right ear before dropping to the stage floor.

Trump's ear and face were bloodied moments later when a cordon of Secret Service agents brought him to his feet.

Trump raised a defiant fist into the air as he was hustled off the stage and out of the rally.

“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” Trump said in a statement on Truth Social.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin," he wrote. "Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement earlier Saturday. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”

President Biden denounces 'political violence'

Speaking from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, President Joe Biden denounced the attack.

“There is no place for this kind of violence in America. It’s sick. It’s sick,” Biden told reporters .

“It’s one of the reasons we have to unite this country. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this.”

Biden said he'd tried to reach Trump by phone. “So far it appears he is doing well,” the president said.

Gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks killed by Secret Service

Crooks, the gunman, was positioned on a rooftop approximately 150 yards from the rally venue. A witness told BBC news he had tried to alert local law enforcement of the sniper moments before he opened fire.

The FBI said Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired multiple shots from an “elevated position” outside of the Trump rally before Secret Service personnel “neutralized” the shooter, the law enforcement agency said.

The FBI hadn't established a motive as of early Sunday morning.

Businessman top bidder in Fenerbahce-Kalamis Yacht Marina tender with $505 mln

Turkish businessman Vahit Karaarslan submitted the highest bid of $505 million to operate Fenerbahce-Kalamis Yacht Marina for 40 years, the country's privatisation authority said on Wednesday.

In 2021, during a previous tender for the operation rights, Tek-Art Kalamis submitted the top bid but the tender was cancelled with a presidential decision.

England reaches euro 2024 final after last-gasp winning goal against the netherlands.

Ollie Watkins’ brilliant last-gasp winner earned England a 2-1 win over the Netherlands and a place in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final.

The Netherlands took an early lead thanks to Xavi Simons’ long-range rocket, but England hit back almost immediately as captain Harry Kane levelled the scores from the penalty spot.

Chances were few and far between in the second half and it took until the first minute of added time for England to find the winner, with substitute Watkins stunning the Dutch.

It’s the first time in history that England has reached a major final on foreign soil and the team – as well as manager Gareth Southgate – now has the chance to atone for that heart-breaking defeat in the final to Italy three years ago.

Awaiting England in Sunday’s final is the formidable foe of Spain, which has been unequivocally the best team of Euro 2024 so far.

Match-winner Watkins said he has been “waiting for weeks” for that moment, with his goal set up by Cole Palmer, who was another English subsitute.

“I swear on my life, my kid’s life, I said to Cole Palmer: ‘We’re coming on today and you’re going to set me up.’ That’s why I was so happy with Coley. I knew as soon as he got the ball, he was going to play me.

“When I saw it go in the bottom corner, it was the best feeling ever. There’s been a lot of criticism and at the end of the day we’re in the final and that’s all that matters. Forget all the outside noise, we’re in the final.

“We’ve got that bounce back factor, going a goal behind. We never give up. We’ve won on penalties, come from behind. One more game, one more game,” added Watkins, referring to Sunday’s final

Three Lions roar again

England, like many of the so-called bigger nations, has struggled to find any sort of form at Euro 2024.

Despite a vast array of talented attacking players – some among the best in the world – for many England fans watching Gareth Southgate’s side has frequently made for tough viewing.

The team – which only finished top of a weak group by the skin of its teeth - has been described as negative and defensive, the passing telegraphed and the movement plodding.

England reached the semifinal thanks to moments of individual brilliance, first Jude Bellingham and then Bukayo Saka bailing the Three Lions out in their two previous knockout games at the tournament.

The Netherlands has similarly struggled in Germany and only reached the knockout stages as one of the four best third-placed teams, while they needed to come from behind to beat Turkey in the quarterfinals.

Nevertheless, tournament football is about one thing only: lifting the trophy. Fans of both nations would forgive any number of dull performances if their team brings home the Henri Delaunay Cup on Sunday.

Immediately, though, this semifinal in Dortmund was more riveting than any game either of the two teams had played at Euro 2024.

After only seven minutes, Simons – named after Barcelona great Xavi Hernández – dispossessed Declan Rice in midfield and stormed towards the England penalty area, before unleashing an unstoppable shot past Jordan Pickford and into the top corner.

Now England had no choice but to attack – something that hasn’t come easy for Southgate’s side in Germany – and found the equalizer just 10 minutes later.

After Kane’s acrobatic effort flew over the crossbar, replays showed Denzel Dumfries’ studs caught Kane on the top of his foot and, after an intervention from VAR, referee Felix Zwayer pointed to the spot.

Kane, who missed a crucial penalty for England against France in the quarterfinals of the Qatar World Cup in 2022, confidently drilled his penalty low into the bottom corner.

Dumfries then saved the Netherlands from going behind as he was in the right place and the right to deny Phil Foden’s effort on the line, before thumping a header off the crossbar at the other end.

Foden, who was having by far his best game of the tournament, then hit the woodwork himself as the post denied the Manchester City forward a stunning curled effort.

England was no doubt the dominant team in a riveting first half, which raised the question: Where has this kind of performance been all tournament? Passes were being drilled into feet with purpose, runs were incisive, and players were looking to shoot at every opportunity.

If there’s a time to find some form, it’s in the semifinal of a major international competition and England fans will have gone into half-time feeling optimistic about their team’s chances in the second half.

But Ronald Koeman tightened up his midfield at the start of the second period, limiting the space England had enjoyed and exploited so successfully in the first half.

England passes were once again mostly backwards and sideways in front of a comfortable Netherlands defense as Southgate and his players looked short of ideas.

Fortunately for England, the Netherlands were also not posing much of a threat and neither goalkeeper had very much to do - until Watkins broke Dutch hearts.

The Aston Villa striker received the pass from Palmer with his back to goal and Stefan de Vrij in close attendance, but created just enough space to drill a brilliant effort across goal and into the bottom corner.

England has known little more than disappointment and heartbreak since winning the World Cup in 1966, Southgate more than most. Now the team has another chance to end 58 years of hurt.
