Wally’s latest creation, called 110 Barong D , is a very elegant hi-tech sailing superyacht designed by Frers. It is 33.5 metres long and its shipowners is a Wally’s loyal customer; before Barong D he owned in fact Barong C and Barong B ( 94 and 80 feet respectively).

Luca Bassani, President and CEO of Wally, declares with satisfaction: ” We have delivered a real performance cruiser  able to host its shipowner with great comfort and for long periods”

The blue hull provided with a clear teak deck and grey pillows is very elegant; it has strong lines, a large poop, two helms and a T-shaped bulb. It weights 65 tons , two tons lighter than expected and it is 35% lighter than its peers.

It is made of pre-preg carbon . The mast and rigging are made of high-module carbon, the cross-trees are quartered and the jib is autoturning.

The deck is equipped with many titanium accessories, the deckhouse is small and little invasive: at mid-boat, the cockpit is long and large; on the fore zone, the anchor is not visible but immersed.

Interiors are made of composite and arranged with a fore shipowner’s suite, two double guest cabins and an astern crew zone.

Wally 110 sailing yacht Barong D delivered

The 33.51 metre Wally 110 sailing yacht Barong D has been delivered to her owner, the Italian yard has confirmed.

This all-carbon sloop was developed for an existing client of the Italian builder. The new owner, an experienced yachtsman, previously owned 28.5 metre Wally _ Barong C  _and before that 24 metre Barong B.

Barong D was designed by Frers Naval Architecture  and has been created with performance in mind. “Wally employed all its advanced know-how to produce a fully equipped cruising superyacht displacing only 65 tons: two tons lighter than predicted,” explained Wally's president and CEO Luca Bassani.

“We succeeded in delivering a truly exceptional performance cruiser that accommodates in full comfort the owners who spend several months of the year on board.”

As well as the use of pre-preg carbon fibre throughout, advanced technologies and materials have also been used on the electrical system and the hydraulic systems, which can provide up to 350 bar of pressure.

The interior was built in blocks to achieve the maximum quality while reducing the weight.  Designed by Wally  and Luca Bassani it includes a forward owner’s suite with two large separate beds for comfort under sail. On top of the two en-suite double guest cabins there is a main saloon, while the four-person crew and service area features a galley, crew mess, two double cabins and engine room.

“As often happens with happy owners,  Barong D is the larger evolution of their previous yachts, featuring similar style and deck and interior layouts,” Bassani added.

Auxiliary power comes from a single Cummins QSB6.7 diesel engine, giving Barong D a top speed under power of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.

Other projects currently under development at the Italian yard include  hull number four in the Wally Cento series  and the upgraded WallyPower 52 dayboat.

The 33,5-meter Barong D is the third Wally delivered to a faithful repeat client, a truly passionate and experienced yachtsman who replaced his Wally 94 Barong C, which in turn in 2005 substituted his first Wally, the 80-footer Barong B of 2000. The Frers naval architecture created the latest generation hi performance super yacht characterised by the wide hull uniquely camouflaged by classic lines reflecting Barong D’s cruising attitude. “Wally employed all its advanced know-how to produce a fully equipped cruising super yacht displacing only 65 tons: two tons lighter than predicted, and approximately 35% less than the other yachts in this size range! – enthusiastically describes Luca Bassani, Wally President and CEO – We succeeded in delivering a truly exceptional performance cruiser that accommodates in full comfort the owners who spend several months of the year on-board. “ The full 3D engineering optimised both the design and the construction. The construction used the latest pre-preg carbon technology throughout the yacht. Advanced technologies and materials have been used also for both the electrical system resulting with light weight switchboards and cables and a specific yacht monitor & control system, and for the hydraulic system that provides the 350 bar max pressure and the electro valves controlled by a dedicated software to optimise the speed of the manoeuvres. The interiors have been built in blocks to achieve the maximum quality while reducing the weight. High modulus carbon mast and furling boom, carbon rigging, titanium deck hardware and fittings, resin and vacuum bonding of the teak wood to the deck, lightened interiors (PVC core joinery, carbon soles and ceiling supports): every component has been meticulously developed to produce such a state-of-the-art super yacht reflecting the Wally DNA to improve the on the water enjoyment while increasing the safety. “Additionally, the new Wally 110 features all the Wally technologies that we have developed since we started in 1994 –explains Luca Bassani - through the extensive R&D programme unique to our brand, that is constantly carried out to further improve the product. The interior layout reflects the owners’ extensive cruising requirements, featuring the forward Owner’s suite with two large separate beds to favour the comfort under sail, a double guest cabins on each side, and a spacious main saloon amidships. The crew and service area with galley, crew mess, two double cabins, and the engine room is aft to provide max privacy. All cabins have en-suites. The interior styling is developed by Wally and combines pickled oak for the joinery with dark blue upholstery and gloss carbon soles. The outside colour scheme is also very elegant combining the majestic blue of the hull with the blonde teak and beige upholstery. Barong D is the 44th sailing yacht launched by the Monegasque brand. Her delivery is scheduled at the end of May, after two weeks of sea trials.
