SKY Yacht – Classy $40 Million Superyacht

The SKY yacht is a superyacht built and delivered in 2010 by Heesen in the Netherlands and she is the largest full-displacement yacht ever built by the Dutch shipbuilding company. 

On the ranking of the largest yachts in the world, she is listed as number 854th.

The SKY yacht interior was penned by Mojo Stumer Associates, the luxury architecture firm based in Long Island. 

Her timeless and minimal styling helps create an elegant and pleasant atmosphere. SKY is decorated with carbon fiber and steel detailing, and features a neutral color palette, with brown, white, grey, and black hues. 

She was designed to accommodate up to 10 guests in five luxurious cabins, comprising one master suite, two double rooms, and two twin rooms plus two Pullman. 

The master suite is located forward on the main deck and each stateroom has its own private shower room. SKY is also capable of carrying 12 crew members on board in separate cabins. 

This stunning superyacht is also equipped with a gym, jacuzzi, swimming platform, air conditioning, media movie server, WIFI, satellite phone, and TV. 

Her octagonal spa pool is one of the main luxuries SKY has to offer to any guest.

The SKY yacht features exterior design by Frank Laupman from Omega Architects and naval architecture by Heesen. 

She has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure with teak decks. SKY is also equipped with a stabilization system and “at anchor stabilizers” that help reduce the rolling motion effect. 

Her toys include water skis, kayaks, wakeboards, kiteboard equipment, snorkeling gear, and spearfishing gear, to mention a few. 

SKY yacht specifications

The SKY yacht is 50.5m long with a beam of 9.6m, a draft of 3.2m, and a volume of 655 GT.

She is powered by 2 MTU engines (3,650HP), which give her a cruising speed of 12.0 knots and a maximum speed of 14.5 knots with a range of 3,200 nautical miles.

She can store up to 80,000 liters of fuel and 20,000 liters of water on board. 

SKY is built to comply with MCA and Lloyd Registration, as well as Yacht Engaged in Trade (YET) Registration. According to some websites, SKY was last refitted in 2021. 

Her summer cruising locations are in France, Monaco, and Corsica, during the winter she cruises in the Maldives.  

She is currently available for private charter, her price is around $40 million and the annual running costs is estimated at $4 million. 

The seasonal charter rate is 245,000 EUR (low rate) and 266,000 EUR (high rate: July, August and special events). Consider this price per week plus expenses.

"Sky Dancer " has the private owners layout forward,  with a loarge and comfortable centerline walk around berth, shelving outboard and hanging locer to port with a vanity .  An ensuite heads with step in shower is to starboard. 

An inviting main salon occupies the midship with the U shaped  dining area to port with moveable arm chairs inboard surrounding the dining table for additional seating.   Adjacent to port is a long settee with a center cushion that fold out for a cocktail table and access to great storage for assorted glasses and bottles.  Moving aft along the port side and just at the bottome of the companionway is a large U shaped galley.   Ajacent to starboard is inline Nav Station.  Port and Starboard of the companionway are "mirrored" aft staterooms with ensuite heads.  Both staterooms have two twin berths, which can be moved together to make a large double berth.   Hanging locker and storage for each suite.

The 157-foot (48m) Oceanfast luxury motor yacht BIG SKY is outfitted with an exceptional outdoor living area and a spacious interior that ensure she is ideal for entertaining on the water.

Built in 2010 and refitted in 2018, BIG SKY is in impeccable condition. In 2020, she received her 10-year Lloyds and Class Surveys. BIG SKY features Quantum zero speed stabilizers to ensure comfort while aboard. She features a shallow draft making her ideal for cruising in The Bahamas and other low-lying islands. BIG SKY has a solid charter history and offers a tested platform for future chartering if her new owner is so inclined.

BIG SKY’s 2018 refit focused on her interior spaces. Her owner commissioned Alder & Tweed Design Co. to collaborate in crafting new built-in furnishings and loose furniture for the main deck and skylounge spaces. The guest accommodations also were refinished and rearranged to create an ideal layout for guest enjoyment. The yacht also benefitted from all new soft goods.

The main salon features large aft sliding glass doors that provide ample natural light and offer impressive views. This comfortable space is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or evening movies and relaxation. This newly minted space features modern touches and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Forward is a formal dining area with custom artwork. The master stateroom is found forward on this deck with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with a deep sculptural tub. Additional guest accommodations aboard BIG SKY are found below deck. Three queen staterooms and one full stateroom with a Pullman welcome guests. Each is outfitted with en-suite facilities.

The yacht’s skylounge features a full, custom wet bar and opens to the aft dining table that easily welcomes 12 for a meal. Paola Lenti furniture farther aft is perfect for cocktail hour or lounging during the day. This space can be rearranged to be utilized for a multitude of different functions. The main deck aft also features a cocktail area and accesses the yacht’s swim platform, which is perfect for launching the water toys or taking a dip. BIG SKY’s sundeck is a big draw, offering a Jacuzzi and large sun pads well suited for spending the day soaking up the rays. A full bar and a comfortable lounge also are found on this deck. As the sun sets, this area transforms into an alfresco cinema.

BIG SKY runs with 10 crewmembers who are accommodated in four cabins on the lower deck forward and a captain’s cabin on the bridge deck.

Russia-Ukraine war latest: Putin orders FSB to hunt down 'traitors'; Moscow accused of 'extremely aggressive' comments towards IOC boss

Russia and Ukraine have been repelling numerous air attacks in their border regions forcing evacuations of civilians on both sides. Meanwhile, the former UK defence secretary has said British troops in Ukraine "cannot be ruled out".

There is "cautious hope" China will take part in a Ukrainian-led peace summit planned in Switzerland this spring, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's chief of staff has said.

Andriy Yermak met the Chinese ambassador to Ukraine last week and discussed a previous visit to Kyiv by a Chinese envoy and preparations for the summit.

Tonight, Mr Yermak said: "The recent visit of the Chinese special representative gives cautious hope that China will also participate in this process."

Kyiv has been trying to cultivate good relations with Beijing, and China has attended at least one of the preparatory meetings for the summit. 

Russia has not been invited.

We've been reporting on the massive aid package worth $60bn ($47bn) held up in Washington for months over political wrangling.

Just yesterday, defence secretary Lloyd Austin said the US remains committed to Kyiv - but didn't say how exactly it can help without that aid.

Tonight, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said during a trip to Kyiv the aid would "get to Ukraine". 

"From our perspective we are confident we will get this done," he told a joint news conference after meeting presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak.

The aid has been stuck in Congress since late last year, with Republicans blocking the bill's passage, which has piled more pressure on already outgunned Ukrainian troops fighting a better armed and larger foe two years into the war.

Republican senator Lindsey Graham said on Monday the aid could be approved soon if takes the form of a loan.

But Mr Sullivan said there is no need to talk about a "plan B", appearing to reject the idea of a loan.

"I am confident that we will achieve plan A," he added. 

"We will get a strong bipartisan vote in the House for an assistance package for Ukraine, and we will get that money out the door as we should."

He did not say when Ukraine could expect the aid to arrive, but he said the process has "already taken too long".

The Netherlands will provide Ukraine with €350m (£299m) for F-16 fighter jet ammunition and advanced reconnaissance drones.

The package was announced by Dutch defence minister Kajsa Ollongren tonight in Kyiv, where she had gone to "show solidarity".

The Dutch defence minister said €150m will fund guided air-to-ground missiles that can be fired from F-16s, with the remainder going towards surveillance drones.

Denmark, the Netherlands and the US expect to deliver the first of dozens of F-16s to Ukraine this summer after setting up a pilot training programme and donating aircraft.

Ms Ollongren said the Danish aircraft would arrive first and would be followed by the first Dutch planes later this year.

"I'm very confident that we will start delivering F-16s this summer," she said. "So, in the second half of the year the Dutch F-16s will be going this way."

Russia has insisted the election inevitably won by Vladimir Putin was fair, amid allegations of vote rigging from some independent polling observers.

Today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed to a survey by a state-owned pollster showing a record 65% of Russians polled considered the results reliable.

"The elections are absolutely clean," Mr Peskov said in a call with reporters.

"It is impossible to dispute."

But an independent researcher said he found evidence of anomalies in vote tallies that supports some of the concerns voiced by monitoring groups.

Ivan Shukshin said his modelling pointed to 22 million fraudulent ballots cast for Putin.

His finding is based on a statistical method developed by Sergei Shpilkin, an award-winning data analyst who has been widely cited in the West as an authority on Russian elections.

Leading Russian independent vote monitoring group Golos (Voice), which was not allowed to send observers to polling stations, said it had evidence of voter intimidation and other infringements.

Mr Putin won a landslide with 87% of the vote, or 76 million, on a turnout of more than 77% in the election that ended on Sunday - both records in post-Soviet Russian history.

Russia's response to the International Olympic Committee's decision to ban its athletes from the opening parade at the Paris Games this summer has been "extremely aggressive", the IOC has said.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the move is "the destruction of the idea of Olympism", but IOC president Thomas Back said "unfortunately, this is only one quote".

Political commentators in Russia have noted Mr Bach's German nationality and made references to the Holocaust in social media posts.

"There are more quotes coming from Russia which are extremely aggressive and... some of them are very personal," Mr Bach added.

IOC spokesman Mark Adams said they have seen "some very aggressive statements out of Russia today".

"One comment goes beyond that," he added.

"Linking the president, his nationality and the Holocaust is unacceptable and reaches a new low."

The IOC's decision was to ban athletes from Russia and Belarus taking part as neutral competitors from the parade at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics. 

The athletes will still be able to take part in the Games, but will compete as independents without their flags and anthems. 

They will also only be allowed to compete if they have not supported the war in Ukraine. 

Russia, which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, is planning to organise its own multi-national Friendship Games in September this year, which has further angered the IOC.

We reported earlier that a UN report has accused Russia of killings, arbitrary detention and torture in occupied territories.

The head of a UN reporting mission in Ukraine, Danielle Bell, said such practices were being used to create a "climate of fear".

Responding to the report at the UN Human Rights Council, senior Russian diplomat Igor Sergeev accused the body's human rights groups of double standards and turning a blind eye to Ukraine.

He said the Human Rights Council should be paying attention to "the degrading, deteriorating human rights situation in Ukraine", he said.

Mr Sergeev claimed: "This country has dramatically turned into a punitive state."

He continued that "censorship has been introduced everywhere" and blamed the "collective West" for playing a key role.

Ukraine is also guilty of war crimes, he added.

Russia occupied the Crimean peninsula in 2014 and its proxy separatist groups occupied two regional capitals in east Ukraine in the same year.

The 2022 invasion led to Moscow's capture of further swathes of land in Ukraine's east and south.

Moscow has repeatedly denied accusations that its forces have committed atrocities or deliberately attacked civilians during the invasion, which it says is a "special military operation".

A woman in Russia has been jailed for eight days for writing "no to war" on her ballot paper on the last day of the presidential election.

According to the Saint Petersburg court's press service, Alexandra Chiryatieva wrote the words using a red marker on Sunday 17 March.

"So Chiryatieva damaged state property and discredited the armed forces of the Russian Federation," the court added in a statement on social media app Telegram.

She has also been fined 40,000 Russian rubles (£340).

On Sunday, thousands took part in "noon against Putin" protests, crowding at polling station at midday - with at least 74 people arrested as a result.

The Moscow Times reports Ms Chiryatieva accused a police officer of "violating her right to ballot secrecy" and preventing her from casting her vote.

The Dzerzhinsky District Court also found her guilty of "petty hooliganism", the newspaper added.

Amnesty International reports a "huge number of people" are serving "lengthy prison sentences for peaceful anti-war dissent".

War censorship laws came into effect soon after Russia's invasion of Ukraine began, threatening people who protest against what Moscow calls a "special military operation".

The law allows judges to impose a maximum sentence of 15 years.

The number of people killed in a Russian airstrike in Kharkiv has risen to five, according to regional governor Oleh Synehubov.

Seven people have also been injured after a Russian missile hit an industrial area of the city, causing a major fire.

Rescuers are working at the site, looking for survivors and fighting flames, with one man recovered from the rubble, Mr Synehubov added. 

The area of the fire has grown to 10,000 square metres, from an initial 1,000 square metres, according to the emergency services.

That means an area equivalent to the size of nearly two football pitches is on fire.

One of the reasons for the severe fire is that a printing house is located in the building that was struck, Mr Synehubov said.

"The building houses production facilities and offices," Volodymyr Tymoshko, head of the regional police, was quoted as saying on a police account on Telegram.

"This is an act of terrorism because it was conducted at a time when the vast majority of the people are at work."

Moscow denies deliberately attacking civilians, but many have been killed in frequent Russian air strikes across the country.

Ukraine is "interested" in strengthening ties with India, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said following a call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

We reported earlier that Mr Modi had also called Vladimir Putin, congratulating him on his election victory.

The Indian government said Mr Modi reiterated the country's "consistent position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward" in the war on Ukraine.

Mr Zelenskyy's office said the president discussed Ukraine's peace formula with Mr Modi on Wednesday, along with bilateral relations.

Kyiv's peace plan calls for the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine, restoring the country's 1991 post-Soviet borders and a process to make Russia accountable for its actions.

"Ukraine is interested in strengthening our trade and economic ties with India, particularly in agricultural exports, aviation cooperation, and pharmaceutical and industrial product trade," Mr Zelenskyy said on X.

Mr Modi also posted on X, stating he conveyed "India's consistent support for all efforts for peace and bringing an early end to the ongoing conflict".

Vladimir Putin won 72.3% of the votes at polling stations abroad in the presidential election held over the weekend, according to state-run RIA news agency, which cites Russia's electoral commission. 

Russians living abroad, including many who have fled the country since the invasion of Ukraine began, were able to vote at Russian embassies and consulates.

Official results gave Mr Putin a new six-year term with 87.3% of the total vote.

The election in Russia, held over 15-17 March, was widely considered to be a sham, with one independent group labelling it the most corrupt in Russian history.

Polling stations running abroad caused controversy in Moldova, which protested against those set up in the breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistria, a pro-Russian enclave that split from the country after the Soviet Union's collapse.

Chisinau criticised the move as disrespectful to Moldova's sovereignty and yesterday announced it will expel a Russian diplomat as a result.

The Russian ambassador to Moldova dismissed those complaints as "unfounded" and said the polling stations were needed to ensure Russian citizens could participate in the elections.
