I love this series! And from my understanding, they only returned to Croatia due to the pandemic. However, I would love for them to return to Mallorca. I don’t know if anyone else is with me on this, but there are many beautiful hidden gems for such a small island! For example, Alcudia has some amazing beaches and such a good culture for a small town. Bulgaria is somewhere I cannot believe they have not visited! Nessebar, especially, is a place with a beautiful story.

@Roberto it really is an amazing series, we have one of the biggest fans working here. =)

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3: next episode, trailer, cast and everything we know

Bravo’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 is underway and the only thing calm may be the water.

Chef Marcos cooking on Below Deck Sailing Yacht

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 is here, and Captain Glenn Shephard is back to balancing the demands of vacationers with the drama of his crew. And let’s face it, in most instances, the baggage of his crew far outweighs the luggage of any guest.

This season takes the show to the waters surrounding Menorca, Spain. The breathtaking views only serve as momentary interruptions to the hookups, the confrontations, the injuries and the occasional emergencies of the new season. Given the interesting dynamic that already exists between returning crew members like Daisy Kelliher and Gary King, the addition of a new chef, new stews and new deckhands make sailing anything but smooth aboard the Parsifal III.

Here’s what we know about Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3.

When is the next Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 episode?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 premiered on Monday, February 21. New episodes continue to air on Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on Bravo TV in the US. Episodes are available the next day in the UK on Hayu , which can be included as part of a Prime Video subscription. Additionally, Peacock via Sky TV or NOW TV also offers next-day streaming for Bravo content.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is back with the first part of the season 3 reunion airing on Monday, June 27, at 8 pm ET/PT on Bravo. After a tumultuous season full of drama and love triangles, it will be interesting to see what the cast has to say to one another when they face off.

By the way, have you read why fans are grossed out by Ashely's grilled cheese feast ?

What happens on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew having drinks

Viewers of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 will recall that the last time the crew was together, first mate Gary King was involved in a messy love triangle with deckhand Sydney Zaruba and stew Alli Dore. While fans of the show won’t have to worry about seeing King in a continuation of that love saga, based on the trailer, King will again find himself entangled in a romance. It appears he entangles with chief stew Daisy Kelliher of all people. While the two appeared to make amends at last year’s reunion after feuding all season 2, no one expected the two to be locking lips.

Additionally, it should be noted that Below Deck Sailing Yacht is done with love triangles, as Bravo TV teases this season fans can expect to see a “twisted love pentagon.” More may not turn out to be merrier in this case.

Fans of the show will also remember that Captain Glenn Shephard and his crew were involved in an accident during season 2 . Season 3 shows how Captain Shephard has been able to bounce back from the incident while also trying to avoid another potentially disastrous event.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 cast

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 includes returning crew Captain Glenn Shephard, chief stew Daisy Kelliher, chief engineer Colin MacRae and first mate Gary King. These members are joined by chef Marcos Spaziani, second stew Gabriela Barragan, third stew Ashley Marti, as well as deckhands Kelsie Goglia and Tom Pearson.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 looks like it’s not light on the conflict or surprised hookups.

For those needing more details about that kiss between Gary and Daisy, hear from Daisy herself as she provides a little more insight on their involvement.

How to watch Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3

Who's leaving Below Deck Sailing Yacht?

It looks like everyone's favorite Below Deck chef is calling it quits. Marcos Spaziani recently took to Twitter to announce that he has no plans on returning for another season.

I want to thank everyone for the big support and great comments. I never thought in my life I would bring so much inspiration to so many ppl and for that I’m very grateful and also blessed! But I can’t go back to the next season. #BelowDeckSailingYacht #belowdecksailing pic.twitter.com/CLTmtLV7yP June 1, 2022

The 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3 Trailer Is Here: Watch!

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Glen Shepard

Season 3 of the series is returning Monday, Feb. 21.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is back for season 3 with new and familiar faces and sea-level chaos! In the latest trailer for the hit Bravo series, Captain Glenn Shephard is back on the epic Parsifal III,  sailing across the beautiful waters in Menorca, Spain.

“When you go sailing, you never really know what the conditions are going to be like,” Captain Shephard says at the beginning of the trailer before the preview of the chaos aboard the luxury yacht plays out.

Returning this season are chief stew Daisy Kelliher, chief engineer Colin MacRae and first mate Gary King. Joining the vets on board the yacht are a few new faces, chef Marcos Spaziani, second stew Gabriela Barragan, third stew Ashley Marti, and deckhands Kelsie Goglia and Tom Pearson.

From the looks of it, this season is set to bring all the action and drama as the crew manages to navigate various hookups (and makeout sessions), power struggles, injuries and a storm that looks like it could take the boat underwater.

In the new trailer, we see that Tom, who isn’t ashamed of showing off his self-proclaimed “dad bod,” is bringing the body shots, and Gabriela, who braves the elements and topples over in the hot tub, is bringing the fun. Meanwhile, Gary is bringing the romance and a “striptease,” and Daisy is all about a fabulous party -- all while managing the expectations of the guests who board the yacht.

However, the season isn’t going to be without some serious drama as the yacht faces strong winds and a storm that could possibly send it underwater, and Chef Marcos gets a severe head injury that could leave the crew without a head chef.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 premieres Monday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.

Here's Where the Cast of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 Is Now

Did the drama continue?

below deck sailing yacht season 3

Since it debuted back in 2020, Bravo’s spin-off Below Deck Sailing Yacht has certainly delivered some of the most dramatic feuds and steamy boatmances, and it looks as if Season 3 is no different.

While Captain Glenn Shephard is returning to take the lead of the Parsifal III, there’s a lot that’s changed, including a brand new crew and filming location. The cast will be sailing through the stunning waters of Menorca, Spain, but they’ll definitely be hitting some rocky moments, especially when it comes to returning crew members Gary and Daisy’s love-hate romance.

Well, it seems as if there’s more to come as Bravo teases one of the most unexpected crew hookups in Below Deck history. Say what? With so much having happened during the cast’s filming last summer, what exactly have they been up to since?

Captain Glenn Shephard

Daisy kelliher - chief stew.

When Season 3 wrapped, Daisy Kelliher, who returned aboard the Parsifal III as chief stew, took some much-needed vacation time. Kelliher hit up Antigua in the Caribbean , which is where she rang in the New Year and has remained since filming. Considering her ongoing love-hate relationship with fellow castmate Gary King, Daisy remains single for the time being, but she’s certainly not fallen out of love with traveling. Despite appearing to be living the life so many wish they could, Daisy revealed she’s been suffering from severe separation anxiety as she shared just how hectic and demanding her line of work could be in a February 13, 2022 post on Instagram

Gary King - First Officer

Being involved in Bravo drama is nothing new for Gary, especially after his steamy season with Daisy. Well, after wrapping up season three in Menorca, Gary took some time off to reunite with his family; sharing an adorable photo of him and his niece, Ava , on Instagram. The Bravo star is currently in St. Lucia , soaking up the sun, but he hasn’t managed to escape the drama. After sharing a kiss with Daisy Kelliher in the most recent season three trailer, fans have been wondering if he and Daisy are an item. Well, despite the rumors, Gary and Daisy aren’t dating, after confirming to E! News that the two are “just friends.”

Colin McRae - Chief Engineer

Colin McRae has returned to his old stomping grounds aboard the Parsifal III, and considering his love for sailing, fans aren’t surprised to see the Bravo star back on their screens. Since wrapping up last summer’s filming, it didn't take too much time before Colin and fellow Chief Stew Daisy reunited back in December. Since then, Colin has given most of his time to his YouTube channel, Sailing Parlay , which features an array of videos showcasing his sailing adventures. Things are clearly going well for Colin’s online presence, considering he was rewarded with a YouTube 100,000 subscriber count plaque back on February 6. "It has been 4 years of VERY hard work, possibly the hardest of any sailing channel out there that I know of so far, and to reach this milestone is so gratifying for us,” he wrote on Instagram.

Marcos Spaziani - Chef

Say hello to Bravo’s newest chef, Marcos Spaziani. The Venezuela native has been in the industry for over 10 years and is bringing his culinary expertise to the waters of Menorca. It didn’t take much time for Marcos to make a name for himself following season three of Below Deck Sailing Yacht . Spaziani is currently settled in California and has decided to open up his very own restaurant in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Marcos and fellow chef Louis Huh have been working diligently on their newest business venture, ML Eats LA .

Gabriela Barragan - 2nd Stew

Gabriela Barragan reigns from San Diego and while she’s new to the Below Deck crew, she is certainly no stranger to yachting . Barragan has worked as both a stewardess and a deckhand over the course of the last two years and has continued her yachtie life after filming season three of Sailing Yacht . Gabriela spent January and February working a yacht in St. Thomas. After living and working the island life, Gabriela took to Instagram to share that all of her “ wildest dreams are coming true ,” and considering she’s spending her days sailing through crystal clear waters, we don’t blame her.

Ashley Marti - 3rd Stew

Ashley Marti is making her Below Deck Sailing Yacht debut, and she’s relatively new to the industry. Marti first began working on yachts at the start of the pandemic. Although she reigns from New York , Marti is currently a West Coast gal as she takes in the Los Angeles sun alongside a few of her castmates. Since wrapping up Season 3, Ashley traveled through the United States and the Bahamas and is adamant about returning back aboard the Parsifal III, so Bravo fans just might be seeing more of her in the future.

Kelsi Goglia - Deckhand

Kelsi Goglia is making her Bravo debut this season of Sailing Yacht. After catching the travel bug following a trip to Croatia, Kelsi has been a yachtie ever since, and it doesn’t look like she’s turning back any time soon. She currently resides in San Diego, California, and loves herself some travel, as most Below Deck crew members do. While her romantic life remains a mystery, it’s clear she’s too busy roaming the world to settle down just yet.

Tom Pearson - Deckhand

Growing up on a lake , Tom Pearson is no stranger to the water, but he’s brand new to the Bravo family. The Below Deck Sailing Yacht deckhand was spotted getting his boatmance on, making us all wonder if he’ll be headed toward hot waters. Well, it seems as if Pearson remains single, but his life is anything but boring. After returning home to Windermere, England, Tom has kept busy surfing through the British waters but has taken quite a liking to his new image. The Bravo star has been attending a number of events following his newfound fame, including his most recent appearance in London, England for the launch of a new app on January 20.

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

Below Deck: Behind the scenes of filming the hit superyacht reality show

When it first aired in 2013, Below Deck quickly garnered the attention of a loyal band of die-hard fans. Three years later, the spin-off Below Deck: Mediterranean followed. Amid the chaos of crew love triangles and outrageous guest requests, returning captains Lee Rosbach and Sandy Yawn emerged as respected industry professionals and brand ambassadors for the show.

  • Below Deck secrets: What the hit TV series didn't tell you

In 2020, the brand’s second spin-off, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht , launched, shining a new light on the crews and challenges of sailing yacht charters. Together, the reality show triumvirate propelled Below Deck and the superyacht industry to global audiences, earning the show its own unique place in the hall of reality television fame. But Below Deck’s producers aren’t done yet. Earlier this year, US network Bravo announced the Below Deck empire was set to grow further with two new spin-off seasons, Below Deck Adventure and Below Deck Down Under . As the sixth season of Below Deck: Mediterranean gets underway on June 28, BOAT talks to executive producer Tania Hamidi about Below Deck’s stratospheric rise and the behind-the-scenes reality of filming the show.

  • How Captain Lee became TV’s favourite yacht captain

Hamidi is a seasoned television producer and one of Below Deck’s longest-serving team members. She has been a staple of the Below Deck production team for seven years, joining as the second season of Below Deck got underway. Soon after, she was involved in the launch of Below Deck: Mediterranean fronted by captain Mark Howard, who was promptly replaced by captain Sandy Yawn in the second season. This was a key casting decision, Hamidi says. “We loved Mark, but it was really exciting to have a woman in the wheelhouse. When that opportunity presented itself, it just took over,” she says, adding that Sandy “got herself on that boat”.

  • Captain Sandy Yawn on the reality of filming Below Deck Mediterranean

While captains Lee Rosbach, Sandy Yawn and Glenn Shephard have become familiar fixtures of the show, Hamidi reveals that not even they are safe when it comes to casting the next season. “All the different positions are on the table each season, including the captain,” she says. However, when it comes to changing a captain “there’s got to be a reason”. With crew, familiar faces often return, with notable examples being chief stewardess Kate Chastain and bosun Malia White. This creates a sense of continuity, Hamidi says. “We often have yacht crew come back in higher positions.” Diversity also informs key crew casting decisions to ensure “different types of people feature in different roles.” “It’s fantastic to have a female bosun or a different culture as head of a department that you don’t expect to see,” says Hamidi. “It’s fun to lean into the reality of the industry because it does exist.”

Below Deck: Inside the boats from the hit reality show

A Below Deck charter typically carries a maximum of 12 superyacht crew on board, including up to three resident crew who work on the yacht full time. Often the official captain of the yacht will drop down to first mate to allow for an incoming Below Deck captain. However, generally these crew roles stay off-camera and are not considered “part of the season,” Hamidi says. “They don’t really fit into part of the story, and if you do see them, it’s in an organic way, like an emergency.”

When it comes to casting new crew members, Hamidi reveals that “most” incoming crew already hold their STCW qualification, with some needing a refresher. While the show is totally unscripted, the casting team does look for a specific type of person when choosing the crew. “It’s a TV show so the crew we choose are definitely outgoing and happy to be open,” Hamidi says. “If they are closed off, it’s hard to tell a story and hard for others to come out and tell them their stories.”

  • Parsifal III : Meet the star of Below Deck's sailing spin-off

The same ethos applies when recruiting the season’s charter guests. As an unscripted show, the guests must be outgoing and excited for the charter. “We really don’t try and make them do things they don’t want to do,” says Hamidi. “We say ‘just have fun, it’s your vacation’.” This, Hamidi claims, is why they have so many guests keen to return, with the Below Deck charter guest casting team having to restrict the amount of returning guests to keep things “fresh”. While it’s well known that Below Deck’s guests pay a subsidised charter rate, Hamidi reveals the opportunity is still very much “aimed at the one per cent”, with guests expected to tip to the full price of the charter. “The guests have a slightly discounted rate but it’s still a pretty penny,” she says. “The average person couldn’t afford it.”

The filming schedule of a typical season of Below Deck is hectic. The intense schedule squeezes nine charters into a filming period of eight weeks. A total of 30 people, comprising yacht crew, guests and camera crew, can be on the boat at any one time. Split into pairs, the camera crew consists of a camera operator and a second team member operating the audio rig. Guided by the director, who watches from a cabin transformed into a “control room”, the camera crew “jump around the yacht” trying to capture key moments of the charter, from pulling anchor to meal prep in the galley. They often arrive onto the yacht at 5.30am and get the cameras rolling before the guests are out of bed. Working a 12-hour shift, they need to ensure all the unfolding action on board is caught on camera while avoiding the other camera crews on board. “The camera crew are running around and hiding from each other while getting all the action,” Hamidi says. This is especially difficult on a four-deck motor yacht, she says, but easier on the wider decks of Parsifal III , the star of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht . To support such an operation, the main charter yacht is accompanied by a support vessel and water taxi, which ferries the camera crew to and from the main yacht. The support vessel, which in previous seasons has been a schooner, catamaran and “mini yacht”, is chosen on the capabilities of its galley to ensure the crews are well fed. The support vessel follows around the mothership but is always carefully anchored out of sight to avoid being in the shot.

While Hamidi admits filming the series is “full on”, for her the hard work begins weeks before when preparation for the show begins. This includes everything from casting the show, choosing a charter yacht, selecting brands to appear on the show and sourcing water toys, such as floating golf courses and superyacht slides. Equipment is checked in the galley, visas are approved and valuable objects – such as art – are removed from the charter yacht. Amid all the noise and intensity of preparing and filming the show, it is the morning water taxi rides to the mothership that stay with Hamidi the most. “You’re out on the water, it’s too loud to have a conversation and it’s beautiful – it’s those moments that stay with me,” she says. Despite two more spin-off series being greenlit, Hamidi is adamant the Below Deck franchise is just getting started. “It’s internationally syndicated, more and more people are interested in yachting, and I think it’s just going to grow and grow and grow.”

Below Deck Mediterranean premieres on Monday, June 28 at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo. New episodes will be available one week early on Peacock beginning Monday, June 21 .

Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Is Season 3 filming with former cast members now?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 update,

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 ended less than two months ago, but fans are eager for news on Season 3 of the hit Bravo show.

The good news is that it appears Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 is filming and that three former crew members are back. Season 2 of the sailing show was a far cry from Season 1, and viewers are more invested in the series than ever.

The yachting series is such a hit that renewal is always a given, especially since Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure will soon join the Below Deck family.

Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 filming now?

Some pretty good and exciting news regarding Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 has emerged this week. The Instagram account @belowdecksailing dropped a post sharing that the hit show was filming in Menorca, Spain.

“Spotted: The cast of #BelowDeckSailing filming Season 3!” read the caption featuring a camera crew shooting a group of people out at dinner.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck Sailing Yacht (@belowdecksailing)

There are a couple of reasons it appears the show in production is the hit sailing series. One is that the timing fits. Below Deck Sailing Yacht films typically for six weeks, starting at the end of July or August.

The other reason is because of the location. Captain Glenn Shephard shared an Instagram post the other day revealing his location was the Balearic Islands. Menorca happens to be one of those islands.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Captain Glenn Shephard (@capt_glennshephard)

Plus, Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5 was filmed there, so production already knows the ins and outs of the area.

Are these former Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew members filming Season 3?

Even more exciting news adding fuel to the fire that Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 is filming is a couple of former crew members have been spotted in Menorca, Spain.

Instagram account @belowdecksailing has shared a photo that features Colin MacRae and Daisy Kelliher sitting together with the crew and filming.

Colin’s Instagram account says he is still in Panama. However, that could be a diversion. His latest YouTube video featured him in Panama, but that may have been filmed weeks ago and just uploaded.

As for Daisy, she was absent from her Instagram IG series Pita Party with Dani Soares and Alli Dore this week. Daisy’s Instagram location is also turned off for the first time since the show began last winter.

Although not featured in the photo, Gary King may be back too. The first mate recently shared a picture of him standing on deck on what looks like Parsifal III with his location as Menorca, Spain. Gary was still working on the sailing yacht with Captain Glenn at the Season 2 reunion show.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gary King (@king_gk)

All signs point to Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 filming now with Colin MacRae, Daisy Kelliher, Gary King, and Captain Glenn Shephard coming back.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently on hiatus on Bravo.

Why Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's Ashley Marti Skipped the Season 3 Reunion (& How the Cast Reacted)

Stewardess ashley marti played a large role on below deck sailing yacht 's season three reunion despite not being in attendance..

Skipping out on a reunion is a cardinal sin in the Bravo-verse, but that's exactly what Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's Ashley Marti just did.

The season three reunion aired June 27, and while the stewardess was nowhere to be found, that didn't stop her co-stars from sharing their thoughts on everything that went down with her and first mate  Gary King this year—namely, the time they seemingly hooked up despite the fact that Gary was extremely intoxicated.

As host Andy Cohen put it, "You were really drunk, you told her to stop. From the viewers' perspective, you were sexually assaulted. Is that you felt?"

Gary prefaced his response by noting that while he and Ashley "aren't friends," he still felt the need to defend her. "I don't think there was anything of it and I think people are being very harsh to her," Gary said of the hook up. "I thank everyone for sticking up for me but there was nothing to it and I feel that everyone should leave Ashley alone on that circumstance because it wasn't how it seemed."

Andy pointed out that if the roles were reversed—more specifically, if Gary had initiated a drunken hookup and made a comment similar to that of Ashley's "You're f--king inside of me right now"—the situation could be quite serious.

"I understand that Andy, I really do," Gary replied. "I mean, it's not an ideal situation, to be honest. I personally wouldn't do something like that. But I can't stress this enough, I'd just like people to leave Ashley alone."

Gary also revealed that while he and Ashley aren't exactly on good terms, he did reach out to her once the hookup in question aired. "I just sent her a message saying, 'From the messages I'm getting, I can only imagine what you're receiving, so I just want to apologize for that and I just want you to not think about it, don't take it too hard.'"

Still, like most of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast, he wasn't amused that Ashley had skipped out on the reunion.  Marcos Spaziani was the only crew member to come to her defense, theorizing that she may have just been too busy. However, Daisy Kelliher immediately shut him down.

"Marcos, we're all busy, OK?" the chief stew said, much to her other co-stars' amusement. "We all have jobs. We all have things to do. But we all knew that the reunion happens, so cut the busy bulls--t."

Daisy, for her part, was correct—Ashley didn't skip the reunion because she busy. As Ashley explained in an Instagram Live on June 26, she was a no-show because "at the time the reunion was filmed, all of the stuff with the bedroom scene was coming out," Ashley said. "And people were being very nasty, and I just felt like I didn't want to have to deal with it during the reunion."

The 24-year-old also insisted that she wouldn't have been able "to really tell my side of the story."

Naturally, the show went on without her. Throughout the reunion, Tom addressed the situation that led to his firing, Daisy and Gary continued to spark romance rumors , Gabriela Barragan reflected on leaving the charter and so much more.

Season three of Below Deck Sailing Yacht is now streaming on Peacock , where the reunion episode will launch on Tuesday morning.

(E!, Bravo and Peacock are all part of the NBCUniversal family.)

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

Danie Soares, selfie, filming Below Deck, 2021 photo

The latest season of "Below Deck Sailing Yacht" may have recently ended in June, but fans already can't wait for another season of the "Below Deck" spin-off to set sail. The hit Bravo show follows the professional and personal lives of the crew working on a luxury yacht as they deal with difficult guests and sail exotic waters.

The reality series is relatively new to Bravo , having premiered in February 2020. Season 1 took place in Greece with a crew led by Captain Glenn Shephard . Season 2 added some new faces to the group and sailed through Spain instead.

"Below Deck Sailing Yacht" last left fans with a pretty dramatic Season 2 reunion on June 21 and June 22, according to Us Weekly . During those episodes, the crew not only looked back at what went down the previous season but also answered some pretty intense questions, including ones about the paternity of crew member Dani Soares' baby , which was speculated to be co-star Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux. First mate Gary King was also called out for his treatment of women, as well as his complicated relationship with castmate Alli Dore. With all this drama from just Season 2 of the show, it makes sense why fans wouldn't want to wait to see what else will go down on the yacht during Season 3! So how long will they have to wait to watch the next season on TV?

When will Season 3 premiere?

Daisy Kelliher, Alli Dore, Dani Soares, wearing captain hats, 2021 selfie

While Season 2 of "Below Deck Sailing Yacht" may have just ended in June, fans are already eager for a new season of the "Below Deck" spinoff. Bravo has yet to confirm that there will be another season of the reality series so there's no official release date for Season 3, nor much word on if production is underway. In past season however, filming has always taken place during the summer months, so that could be happening right now — somewhere out at sea in a foreign country.

Another good sign that Season 3 will happen came from Colin Macy-O'Toole from "Below Deck Mediterranean," who now apparently has a job behind-the-scenes. He told Showbiz Cheat Sheet , "I did the casting for some of the other 'Below Decks.' They asked me to help out, so yeah, I've been a casting producer for 'Below Deck Down Under' and I started '[Below Deck] Sailing [Yacht]' for next season." If there's casting happening, then it's pretty safe to assume that Bravo plans on bringing the show back for another season.

And if it's anything like past seasons , fans can expect to watch Season 3 sometime in February or March 2022. The series usually kicks off in the winter and runs until June. For those who still need to catch up, you can watch "Below Deck Sailing Yacht" on Bravo's website or on the streaming services FuboTV, Sling TV, AT&T TV Now, YouTube TV, or Hulu + Live TV.

Who will be in the cast of Season 3?

Captain Glenn Shephard, Gary King, on a boat, 2021 selfie

Season 3 of "Below Deck Sailing Yacht," could see some familiar faces from Season 2 and, of course, some new ones. If Season 3 is anything like last season then the crew would consist of Captain Glenn Shephard, Colin Macrae, Gary King, Natasha De Bourg, Daisy Kelliher , Dani Soares, Alli Dore, and Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux. Colin Macy-O'Toole, who is working on the casting, teased (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet ) that some of those crew members could return for Season 3.

However, Sydney Zaruba has already confirmed that she won't be coming back. She explained on the podcast " Dear Diary, You're Effed ", "I would always do [the show] again ... If I do go back, obviously I'm not gonna go back this season I don't think because I already have a job." Others who may not be working on the yacht could be Dani and Alli since Dani just became a new mom, welcoming a baby girl in May, and Alli is currently pregnant.

Yet, fans could see Gary and Natasha return since they were asked by Captain Glenn to continue on the boat's crossing even after Season 2 was filmed. Gary also posted a photo with Captain Glenn on a boat in early June (seen above). As for Colin, he could have extra free time to return since splitting with his girlfriend. But fans will have to wait to see!

Since Bravo’s Below Deck first aired in 2013, its popularity has grown exponentially with viewers drawn to the compelling upstairs/downstairs format that has served as a pivotal point for all the drama and antics taking place aboard the superyachts each season. The beautiful locations, meanwhile, have provided the perfect backdrop for every instalment of the show and its subsequent spin-off series.

From the paradisiacal islands of the Caribbean to the majestic snow-capped peaks of Norway , we take a closer look at the spectacular destinations the Below Deck yachts have visited since it first began.

Yachts anchored in a sheltered cove in Antigua Harbor, Caribbean

The show’s inaugural season premiered in the Caribbean, which covered a number of superyacht hotspots in the region, kicking off the show in spectacular style from the charming Leeward Island of St Martin  – which also provided the tropical setting for Below Deck season 5.

Since then, this glittering archipelago has featured in no less than four seasons of Below Deck , including the beautiful islands of St Kitts & Nevis (season 9) and Antigua (season 8) – the undisputed superyacht hub of the Caribbean.

Located between Puerto Rico and Dominica, the Leeward islands offer an intoxicating mix of sublime white sand beaches, glamorous 5-star resorts and stunning natural beauty, not to mention astonishing clear waters brimming with life, as well as an array of superb marinas, making this region ideal cruising territory for superyachts and their guests.

A snorkeler at The Baths on Virgin Gorda in the BVIs, Caribbean

Featuring in season 2 of Bravo’s original reality series, the British Virgin Islands created a picture-perfect backdrop to the show, with the archipelago’s largest island of Tortola , as well as party island Jost van Dyke and the eternally exquisite Virgin Gorda, providing most of the glorious scenery.

Some of the highlights of a private yacht charter here include the BVI’s most famous landmark, The Baths in Virgin Gorda’s 7-acre National Park – a natural phenomenon of towering boulders and beautiful jade-green sea grottos, as well as the legendary Soggy Dollar Bar and Foxy’s – famous for its New Year's Eve parties on the island of Jost van Dyke, and Smuggler’s Cove – an instagram-worthy beach tucked away on Tortola’s west coast, featuring implausibly clear blue waters perfect for snorkeling.

Below Deck  also returned to the Virgin islands for its 4th season, this time around the beautiful US Virgin Islands , including popular tourist hubs  St Thomas , St Croix and the tranquil island of St John.

St Lucia beach with huts and palm trees in the Caribbean

Season 10 of Below Deck centered around the alluring island of St Lucia , home to the majestic twin peaks of the Pitons that set off the stunning scenery for the reality show’s latest season.

Waterfall in St Lucia in the Caribbean

Known as the “Jewel of the Windward Islands ”, St Lucia plays host to an array of idyllic beaches, picturesque harbors and chic restaurants. Her lush jungle-clad interior is awash with an abundance of tropical flora and fauna, offering a heady scent for anyone undertaking the popular hike up the island’s 3,000-foot Mount Gimie.

Beautiful tropical beach in the Bahamas with palm trees over white sand and turquoise water

While not strictly part of the Caribbean, the Bahamas were the destination of choice for Below Deck 's season 3; a yacht paradise of pellucid turquoise waters teeming with life and tropical islands that have become a playground for the SuperyachtSet and A-listers looking to escape the winter blues.

Beautiful Oia town in Santorini, Greece

In 2016, the first season of Below Deck Mediterranean graced our screens, where the show’s producers shrewdly opted to foreground Greece’s beautiful Cyclades archipelago for its inaugural season.

Home to the iconic blue-domed white-washed buildings that are synonymous with images of Greece, this group of islands has proved fertile cruising grounds for luxury yacht charters for years, whose guests come to immerse themselves in the islands’ rich cultural heritage, stunning beaches and breathtaking scenic beauty, not to mention the glamorous party scene.

Comprising a number of celebrated islands, including Mykonos and Santorini , yacht charter itineraries here are brimming with opportunities as the activities and sightseeing options are endless, and with each island only a stone's throw from each other, you can change your scenery at a moment’s notice.

Interestingly, a similar location decision was made for Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s premier season on board yacht PARSIFAL III , this time set around Greece’s Ionian island of Corfu .

The island’s natural beauty has been committed to celluloid several times over, featuring in a number of TV and films over the years, including James Bond’s For Your Eyes Only and the Bafta-nominated TV series The Durrell’s .

View of the cliff into the crystal clear azure sea bay and distant islands. Unique secluded beach on the Agios Stefanos cape, Corfu in Greece

Corfu is part of Greece’s Ionian archipelago ; a chain of strikingly beautiful islands, characterized by lush mountainous interiors, dramatic coastlines, charming fishing villages, intriguing cultural heritage and some of the finest beaches in Greece.

Islands in Croatia, East Mediterranean

One of the most popular destinations for superyacht charters in the East Mediterranean , Croatia is awash with ancient archaeological treasures, seriously beautiful landscapes and endless idyllic islands and islets peppered across the region, which is probably why this gem of the Adriatic has featured in 3 seasons of the Below Deck franchise; seasons 2 and 6 of Below Deck Mediterranean and season 2 of Below Deck Sailing yacht .

Boasting over 1,200 islands, glorious balmy climate and deeply rich history, not to mention low VAT rate compared with its West Mediterranean cousins, its small wonder Croatia is a superyacht paradise during the summer months and beyond.

The Below Deck yachts traveled to a number of popular hotspots within the region, including the UNESCO Heritage city of Dubrovnik , Croatia’s “jewel” Spilt  and the beautiful Šibenik, as well as popping across its southern border to enjoy the facilities at the award-winning marina at Porto Montenegro .

Small fishing boats moored in a clam harbor in Malta with historical buildings in the background

Other Mediterranean destinations visited by yachts on the show include Italy's famous Amalfi Coast (season 3), the eternally glamorous French Riviera (season 4), the popular Spanish archipelago of the Balearics (season 5), and the historic splendor of Malta , which is the location for Below Deck Mediterranean ’s latest season 7 featuring the indomitable Captain Sandy Yawn on board superyacht HOME .

For seasons 6, Below Deck broke with tradition and headed to the South Pacific outpost of Tahiti , where filming took place on board superyacht STARSHIP (previously M/Y SEANNA) with the show’s stalwart Captain Lee Rosbach.

Paradise beach in Tahiti

Set amongst a scattering of idyllic islands in the French Polynesia archipelago, Tahiti is that rare blend of paradisiacal beauty with a cosmopolitan twist courtesy of its rich cultural links with France as a protectorate of that country. Guests on yacht charters here can immerse themselves in the island's extraordinary blue-lagoon-like beauty while still able to enjoy the finest cuisine, boutique shopping and myriad excellent facilities offered by a host of luxury resorts.

Long-tailed boats are pulled up onto a golden beach lapped by green waters with a limestone rocky outcrop in the distance

Below Deck Season 7, meanwhile, continued with the tropical theme, this time foregrounding the unparalleled beauty of Thailand , with Ao Po Grand Marina in Phuket providing the home port for motor yacht BG (previously VALOR) during the show.

Filming took place around the beautiful islands of the Andaman Sea, including Phang Nga Bay , home to 100 islands and a wealth of majestic limestone karsts, including Koh Ta-pu – one of Thailand’s most famous landmarks that appeared in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun . Soaring 20 meters above the water, the tall vertical rock can be taken in from the sandy shores of Koh Phing Ghan.

Other notable filming locations include the famous Phi Phi Islands , home to Maya Bay – the idyllic setting for the 1999 film The Beach  starring Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Ko Poda island renowned for its vast stretches of powder-fine sand beaches and excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities.

The latest Below Deck iterations; Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure, have broken the mold yet further with adrenalin-fuelled adventures adding to the mix.

Whitsundays in Australia

Below Deck Down Under is set in Australia’s sublime Whitsundays ; a heavenly cluster of islands located 34 miles off the coast of Queensland. Characterized by its array of dreamy islands fringed by white sands and intense turquoise-blue waters that form part of the Great Barrier Reef – one of the world’s seven natural wonders – this region offers prime cruising grounds for luxury yacht rentals.

Meanwhile Below Deck Adventure is set in the sub-Arctic wilderness of Norway , where the setting of glacial fjords and majestic mountain peaks form part of the show’s action, with guests partaking in a series of high-octane thrills and spills throughout the season.

A lone figure stands at the end of Pulpit Rock in Norway and surveys the majestic landscape of snow-capped mountain peaks

Norway is fast becoming a hotspot for superyachts eschewing the usual Mediterranean and Caribbean destinations for the more unique experiences on offer in this beautiful part of the world. Renowned for its dramatic scenery, sheer raw beauty, michelin-star dining experiences and the iconic Northern Lights , luxury yacht charters around this Scandinavian region promise to be nothing short of magical.

Season 4 of ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Takes Place In *These* Idyllic Locations

Haylee Thorson - Author

Published May 15 2023, 11:23 a.m. ET

It’s no secret that the Parsifal III has set sail in some incredibly spectacular locations throughout the Below Deck spin-off series’s time on air. From Greece to Croatia to Spain, the first three seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht featured idyllic backdrops that guests were lucky enough to sail to.

And the fourth installment is no different. Would it be a season of a show in the Below Deck franchise if the filming locations weren't completely Instagram-worthy?

Curious to learn more about the filming locations of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 ? We have all the details.

Where was ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Season 4 filmed?

For this season, Captain Glenn Shephard and the crew of old timers and fresh faces cruised around Sardinia, Italy — the Mediterranean Sea’s second-largest island.

“My first time coming to Sardinia was when I got my first taste of yachting, which was way back in 1984,” Captain Glenn revealed in the first episode of Season 4, which premiered on April 10, 2023.

“It’s got white sandy beaches, endless anchorages, [and] beautiful turquoise water. I love it. It’s really, really special.”

However, the Parsifal III isn’t limited to just Sardinia (or Italy, for that matter) in this installment of the Bravo series.

Season 4’s filming locations also include Corsica, France. The island is the fourth-largest island in the Mediterranean, featuring countless coastal towns, sky-high peaks, and lush forests.

And the clientele expects nothing less. American Idol Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini hopped aboard the Parsifal III for a vacation to Corsica during one Season 4 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht and proved just how coveted these charters are.

The Parsifal III is a superyacht superstar in ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht.’

Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s Parsifal III is reality royalty as far as superyachts are concerned. When speaking with Nautic Expo , owner Kim Vibe-Petersen explained how the luxury yacht now goes hand-in-hand with the show.

“It’s free advertising,” Kim admitted. “The name of the yacht will come to people’s minds, especially to someone who has never chartered a yacht before. They will see that name and know the boat from the show.”

Clocking in at 54 meters, the Parsifal III features five cabins and can accommodate up to 12 guests.

Manufactured by the Italian shipyard Perini Navi and interiorly designed by Rémi Tessier, the superyacht boasts everything from a deck jacuzzi to a plunge pool.

The Parsifal III also offers a range of watersports equipment, such as jet skis, wakeboards, Open Bic sailboats, and more.

The luxury yacht — built in 2005 — has accumulated countless awards throughout its time at sea. The Parsifal III won Sailing Superyacht of the Year in 2006 at the Boat International Superyacht Awards.

“From 2006 to 2009, we didn’t use the boat ourselves because it was (totally) chartered out — 25 weeks a year, which is unheard of,” Kim told Boat International . “We inspired the whole industry.”

According to YachtCharterFleet , summer charter rates begin at $255,000 per week, while winter prices start at $211,500 per week. So yeah, luxury superyacht indeed.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.

What’s Going On With ‘Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers After Season 2?

The Big Picture

  • Captain Jason fired crew members for making unwanted advances, received praise for swift action.
  • Captains are known for working with nonprofits and speaking engagements during off-season.
  • Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under is being filmed in Seychelles with new transformations.

After a particularly grueling and dark Below Deck Down Under Season 2 , many are curious about what's going on with reality TV star Captain Jason Chambers. Last season, the series took on a tragic and uncomfortable storyline revolving around non-consensual physical contact. Halfway through Season 2, two crew members, bosun Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne, were caught on camera making unwanted advances toward other crew members. Both instances required outside intervention and led to Captain Jason firing them. In the end, the team received praise for their swift action and the season continued to be an amazing addition to the Below Deck franchise. After the dark turn of events, New Zealander Luka Brunton took over Luke's spot and Jamie Neale took Laura's position.

The rest of the season would follow suit with Below Deck history, and be filled with hookups, arguments, and endless drama to keep viewers satisfied. However, between the response from the storyline and the long wait from Season 2, the possibility of a Season 3 return seemed miniscule. The longer the wait, the more silent the crew became and the harder to believe the series would return. The more extended break between seasons is causing a shift to focus on the crew and what they've been up to. Luckily though, since the season has ended, the popular Captain has stayed occupied while he waits to board the next superyacht. Along with some influential charity work, the Captain has been super busy, and here's what he's been up to.

Follows the crew of a multi million dollar charter boat in the Caribbean.

Jason Chambers Was Working With a Nonprofit

When captains are not at sea, many are known for making public appearances and even volunteering their time. For example, Captain Sandy Yawn is a renowned public speaker who hopes to provide inspiring and courteous offerings of advice. In many of her speeches, she stresses the importance of not taking no for an answer, breaking barriers, and being a woman in a male-dominated industry. It seems that Captain Jason may have similar goals. With the series on hiatus, Captain Jason has kept himself engaged and dedicated as a public servant . One way he has kept occupied during the off-season was through volunteering efforts and working on nonprofit projects, specifically in Indonesia. Recently on Instagram , Captain Jason shared his collaboration efforts with Classroom of Hope , a charity for children's education. The stalwart Captain raised over $80,000, which was enough money to build two new schools in Indonesia.

This 'Below Deck' Couple Was the Bravo Showmance We Deserved

On a network filled with relationship scandals, a budding fling ‘Below Deck’ had the hallmarks of true romance.

In the videos, he can be seen interacting with the children, helping build the schools, and showcasing his pride in philanthropy. Between his efforts and collaboration with Classroom of Hope , Captain Jason made education more accessible for hundreds of young children. While helping third-world countries improve their education is important to the captain, that doesn't seem to be his only mission in Indonesia. His social media posts also highlight his time on conservation and safaris, while also expressing his "weekend mode" as he enjoyed off-charter water adventures. His Instagram also showcased him "rediscovering his heart" by engaging in a Balinese cleansing ritual by a Hindu priest. Ultimately, Captain Jason has become a major role model in the sea and philanthropy world. He's an inspiration to many people as he continues forth with his efforts to improve land and sea.

Captain Jason Hung Out With Scheana Shay From Vanderpump Rules

While being a captain and looking after a crew is a serious and demanding occupation, Jason isn't only about business . He certainly knows how to have fun and enjoy life. The captain showed off his charming personality in the franchise through his witty banter and friendly connection with Aesha Scott . He also showed how much fun he could have through something as small and silly as jumping in the water randomly. However, the Captain also knows how to switch it up and have fun off the superyacht as well. During the break from Season 2, Captain Jason was spotted at Universal Studios.

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 1 Almost Sank the Series

The first season of 'BDSY' traveled some rough seas.

He wasn't alone though, because alongside him was Vanderpump Rules star and fellow Bravo TV co-star Scheana Shay . Scheana was there with her husband, New Zealander Brock Davies . Having a fellow Australian native was sure to make Jason more comfortable throughout their outing. At Universal, Captain Jason's kids and Scheana's daughter hung together, while she and her husband showed the Captain an amazing time. The post on Instagram is a highlight reel of their gathering, sandwiched between the Captain's adventures in Indonesia. While his time at Universal isn't highlighted on Instagram as much as the rest of his activities, it shows the Captain loves to play just as hard as he works.

Captain Jason Is Most Likely Preparing for Season 3

Aside from hanging out with fellow reality TV stars and volunteering his time, there's one particular Below Deck activity fans would likely be excited for: the return of season 3. While the Captain himself is tightlipped about the upcoming Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Noah Samton , the Senior VP of unscripted current production at NBCUniversal, announced the third season was currently filming. He also teased that Season 3 had a few new transformations underway that were sure to keep fans entertained. Noah's comment could be in reference to the new filming location, which is suspected to be in La Digue, Seychelles. According to the Below Deck subreddit , there have been various sightings of a film crew for an “unnamed boat show.” However, the crew sighted was claimed to have Below Deck franchise apparel.

Additionally, there have been various sightings of possible charter guests . For example, hairdresser Jessica Weldon was found on Instagram with photos tagged with the Seychelles location and a handful of posts on a yacht with a film crew. After a deep dive, her friend's list revealed she followed some of the Below Deck stars, and they followed her back. The same could be said for the founder of Luna Media Group, Nikita Sachdev's Instagram , along with her traveling companions. Along with the confirmation of Season 3 and the rumored sightings of charter guests, various Below Deck stars, such as Harry van Vliet and Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph, were also believed to be involved with the filming of the new season. So while the Captain may not be giving much away, it might be safe to say that he's been behind the scenes filming for the show as well.

Overall, Season 2 ended almost a year ago. While normally the next season wouldn't take so long to air, that hasn't stopped the captain from being an involved and contributing member of society. It's obvious the Captain cares much about the environment too . In the last year, he's focused his efforts on enjoying life and making the world a better place. However, aside from volunteering his time in Indonesia, he was recently at the Bali Turtle Conservation farm in Balian, West Bali. The conservation was where he released baby Olive Ridley turtles into the sea. He has also been working on creating healthier products like sunscreen to help improve human skin while also boosting the marine ecosystem. In the end, Captain Jason has proven to be a valuable member of society and the Below Deck franchise and his return is highly awaited.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

90 day fiancé: "heartless" michael never loved angela (he's using gofundme & new family to hurt her more), big brother 26 host julie chen moonves accused of lying to fans amid producer manipulation allegations.

  • Gary King's sexual misconduct scandal risks the future of Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
  • Producers failed to address the controversy, leading to potential show cancelation.
  • To avoid cancellation, the show may need a revamp without Gary as a featured cast member.

Gary King is one of the most prominent cast members from Below Deck Sailing Yacht , but last season's scandal might have put the hit Bravo spin-off in danger. Captain Glenn Shephard leads the crew aboard the Parsifal III, and many popular faces such as Chief Stew, Daisy Kelliher, and Colin Macrae have appeared in the series. However, Gary's love triangle with Daisy and Colin is the least of his worries, given the handling of his sexual misconduct scandal.

The sexual misconduct accusations against Gary stem from an incident reported by Samantha Suarez, a makeup artist who worked on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. According to Samantha, the incident occurred in the summer of 2022 during filming. Allegedly, Samantha escorted a heavily intoxicated Gary back to his hotel room following a confessional interview when he began behaving erratically. Samantha claimed that Gary prevented her from leaving, grabbing her from behind, which left her feeling threatened. Production should be nervous ahead of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 .

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Producers Should Have Spoken Out After Gary King Scandal

Their statement wasn't enough.

Producers should have spoken out after Gary's scandal with Samantha , but they didn't, adding to the controversy. While it's true that Bravo and the production team behind Below Deck issued a statement addressing the allegations , claiming that they take workplace safety seriously and that the concerns raised by Samantha were investigated, it was too little, too late.

The network failed to hold Gary accountable, especially since he was allegedly allowed to return for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, which has yet to air. The backlash against Gary has likely contributed to the slow rollout of the season , adding to the prospect of cancelation. A halfhearted statement from Bravo simply wasn't enough.

Due to of production's lack of action, the controversy surrounding Gary has put Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 in danger. Although the season was filmed, its release has been delayed, and there is speculation that it may be heavily edited to minimize Gary's presence. It's possible the entire season could get scrapped if Gary can't be edited out effectively.

Bravo Never Really Addressed The Gary Scandal

They swept it under the rug.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht producers never really addressed the Gary scandal, hoping that sweeping the accusations under the rug would make the problem go away. However, they didn't do enough damage control. Bravo producers disinvited Gary from BravoCon, adding to the probability of editing him out of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 or scrapping the season entirely.

The best thing Bravo can do now is fire Gary from the Below Deck franchise and hope to save Below Deck Sailing Yacht without him.

Gary’s future within the Below Deck franchise appears unlikely. The backlash against him has been intense, and while he has had some support from fellow cast member Daisy, it seems unlikely that he will be able to recover his reputation. His removal from BravoCon is proof that the network is distancing itself from him, but it might not be enough to save the spin-off.

This scandal has highlighted the responsibility of reality TV productions in handling misconduct. The show's production team intervened during Below Deck Down Under season 2 when a similar situation occurred, resulting in the firing of Bosun Luke Jones. Netflix's Love Is Blind 's production team has also faced accusations about the mishandling of sexual harassment, including Renee Poche's disastrous engagement to Carter Wall and Tran Dang's lawsuit.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Should Undergo a Revamp To Avoid Getting Canceled

Season 5 needs to be scrapped.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht needs a revamp if the network doesn't want the show to get canceled. If it's true that the season was filmed, production would be better off scrapping the season and starting new without Gary. While that's undoubtedly a huge loss for the network, Gary shouldn't be a featured cast member anymore . His sexual misconduct was inexcusable, and he's had issues in the past with professionalism, harassment, and alcohol abuse. Gary has been given too many chances.

If the network is unwilling to scrap Below Deck Sailing Yach t season 5 and start over, it might be time to scrap the spin-off. Below Deck , Below Deck Mediterranean , and Below Deck Down Under are already incredibly successful, and a popular cast member like Daisy could find a home in one of the other franchises. If Bravo had come out ahead of Gary's scandal, production could have saved the Parsifal III and Captain Glenn. However, they didn't do enough to mitigate it, leading to a possible cancellation. Gary is certainly to blame.

‘Below Deck’ Sailing Yacht Shares Chilling Link To Sunken Morgan Stanley Billionaire’s Boat ‘Bayesian’

The plot thickens...

‘Below Deck’ Sailing Yacht Shares Chilling Link To Sunken Morgan Stanley Billionaire’s Boat ‘Bayesian’

Much has been made of the tragic events that unfolded earlier this week off the Sicilian coast, with the Morgan Stanley international chairman initially missing before being found dead alongside tech founder Mike Lynch. Adding more intrigue to the tale, a strange link between the sunk Bayesian yacht and hit show Below Deck has been uncovered…

The Italian shipyard Perini Navi, which built the PARSIFAL III — the yacht featured in the popular reality show Below Deck that rammed a pier due to an engine malfunction — is also the maker of the Bayesian , which tragically sank on August 19.

PARSIFAL III Misadventure

Below Deck is an American reality TV series that made its debut in 2013 on Bravo TV . The show, to date, is running on season 11, with a new cast of crews on every luxury superyacht during its chartering season. Their challenges while catering to wealthy guests are depicted on the show. The PARSIFAL III , a 177-foot yacht, suffered a big mishap during an episode of the show’s second Sailing Yacht season which first aired on May 17, 2021.

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

While trying to maneuver in bad weather, the yacht hit a dock because its engine broke down. In an explanation, Yacht’s Captain Glenn Shephard said:

“I was using a different maneuver mode. And there’s a computer in between the throttles and the propeller that adjusts the load on the engine. Maybe my inputs were too much for the computer and it kind of, I don’t know, froze or didn’t react in the right way. I’m not really 100 percent sure. But I was pushing ahead and it was still moving backwards, which is not normal.”

Some of the wreckage was visible floating in the sea after the accident. Luckily, no serious damage was caused in this crash. Launched in 2005, PARSIFAL III can accommodate up to 12 charter guests in a master suite, two double cabins, and two twin cabins. The yacht also has a Jacuzzi and two Open Bic sailboats for guests to play with.

Not So Lucky

The Bayesian , also created by Perini Navi, was not as lucky. Sailing in a sudden and strong squall that created too much wind and conditions for the yacht to handle, the vessel sank after its mast broke in half off the coast of Sicily near the fishing village of Porticello   in the early hours of Monday.

Of the 22 people on board at the time of the tragedy, 15 were rescued, while six others lost their lives, among them being the chairman of Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, and tech tycoon Mike Lynch.

His daughter Hannah Lynch, 18, is still missing, and rescuers are frantically searching for her. Lynch was a British technology entrepreneur who achieved fame through his software company, Autonomy Corporation, which Hewlett-Packard bought for over $11 billion USD in 2011.

10 Below Deck Alums Who's Poor Performance Got Them Fired

  • Below Deck crew members are quickly fired for poor performance, causing a ripple effect on the team.
  • Chief Stews and Bosuns have tough leadership roles, dealing with high stress levels on the superyachts.
  • Various crew members from different seasons faced termination for incompetence, affecting the overall dynamic onboard.

When Below Deck crew members start to perform poorly, they’re often axed from their casts and asked to leave the charter season. The reality yachting show debuted in 2016 and received a great reception. Led by Captain Lee Rosbach , Below Deck gave its audience a unique look into the lives of the crew working on superyachts. The yachting life intrigued viewers, with entertainment fueled by hectic moments onboard, boatmances, and clashes among crew . After the mainstay series became popularized, the franchise expanded with Below Deck Mediterranean , currently in its ninth season starring Captain Sandy Yawn and Aesha Scott .

Nowadays, Below Deck captains are quick to fire their substandard crews . When someone doesn't pull their weight, it causes a trickle-down effect on the rest of the crew. At the helm of each department are the Chief Stew and Bosun, tasked with leading the stews and deckhands, respectively. Aside from the captain and chef, they have some of the most difficult jobs on board and deal with high levels of stress. Aesha was one of the best Chief Stews during her run on Below Deck Med season 9, though the same can’t be said for other crew members from the franchise’s past.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Shane Coopersmith

Below deck season 8.

During his time on Below Deck season 8, Shane Coopersmith won over the audience but not his fellow crew members. He wasn’t outright disrespectful towards Captain Lee and Bosun Eddie Lucas. However, where Shane’s performance faltered was his tendency to oversleep . He didn’t wake up to his alarms and showed up late. Shane had good intentions heading into the charter season and wanted to gain more knowledge from Captain Lee and Eddie. However, he was fired after he slept in one time too many.

Chandler Brooks

Below deck season 6.

Chandler Brooks hasn’t returned to the franchise since his run as a Bosun in Below Deck season 6. Working with Captain Lee, the deck team noticed that the Bosun struggled with leadership. Deckhands Ashton Pienaar, Rhylee Gerber, and Ross Inia grew weary of Chandler and tried to bring their concerns to Captain Lee. After multiple occasions, he was fired for his poor performance. It seems Chandler wasn’t cut out to take the leadership role. He admitted he was relieved when Captain Lee fired him, which was an honest admission that made his poor showing make more sense to his crew and the viewers.

Chef Anthony Iracane

Below deck season 11.

Anthony Iracane was a promising new chef at the start of Below Deck season 11. He had the tough job of following in Rachel Hargrove’s footsteps after she served as the franchise's chef for three seasons in a row. At the beginning of the season, Chef Anthony charmed his crew members with his endearing personality. He formed a close friendship with Chief Stew Fraser Olender and championed his work as a chef throughout the season. However, when Chef Anthony’s performance faltered, Captain Kerry Titheradge considered firing him.

Organization was the chef’s kryptonite . Chef Anthony’s dishes were inconsistent, and Captain Kerry encouraged him to get his head into the game. After a few improvements, Anthony's confidence slipped, and so did his cooking in the galley. The rest of the crew wanted to see him win, but Fraser knew it was in their best interest if he was fired. After a final lackluster charter trip during the midway point of the season, Captain Kerry fired Chef Anthony. There was no ill will in his departure, and the captain hinted at him potentially returning to the show in the future.

Tom Pearson

Below deck sailing yacht season 3.

Tom Pearson joined Below Deck Sailing Yacht with an eager heart. The excitement surrounding the experience seemed to get the best of him, and he threw up in his cabin after a night out. It’s fine that he got sick, but Tom drew the line when he threw up in the living space he shared with Captain Glenn Shephard. He wasn’t fired because of that night, but rather an incident where he let the anchor drag on the ocean floor. Captain Glenn had hope for Tom but had to fire him after his mistake put them in danger.

Chef Leon Walker

Below deck season 3.

Leon Walker was an incredible chef on Below Deck season 3, but his bad attitude soured his time on the show. The guests and crew enjoyed his food, but he was eventually fired for his stubbornness. Chef Leon notably fought with Chief Stew Kate Chastain during the charter season. His worst moment during the season was likely when he started a fire in the galley due to uncleanliness. Chef Leon’s unwillingness to receive feedback played a hand in the fire, and he was asked to leave the charter season.

Jared Woodin

Jared Woodin joined the crew of Below Deck season 11 as Captain Kerry’s Bosun. His hiring admittedly shocked Ben Willoughby, who thought he would be promoted to Bosun after working as a deckhand during season 10. Nonetheless, Jared served as Bosun, and his leadership was almost immediately put into question. He was unsure when making decisions and didn’t seem present. Captain Kerry pulled Jared aside, and he admitted he was stressed about not communicating with his daughter on the superyacht . The captain had sympathy for his Bosun and tried to cheer him up.

Jared tried to get his head in the game but couldn’t. It was clear he was under high levels of stress that were affecting his judgment as a Bosun . One night after a charter trip, the crew went out to drink, and Jared became upset with Kyle Stillie. The deckhand dropped tobacco on the deck and hot tub, and Jared demanded he clean up his mess. Kyle intended to clean up in the morning, but Jared pressed the problem. Their drunken fight woke Captain Kerry, and Jared was fired the next day.

Camille Lamb

Below deck season 10.

Camille Lamb will likely go down in Below Deck history as one of the most chaotic crew members ever. She was featured on the franchise during season 10 of the mainstay series. The first red flag in her appearance was her hybrid role as a stew and deckhand. Camille had the difficult task of juggling her duties as a part of the interior and exterior team , which she didn’t manage that well. She complained when she had to work, leaving many questioning why she was hired in the first place.

Camille feuded with Chief Stew Fraser and Chef Rachel during the entirety of the charter season. He grew upset with the stew/deckhand because she would drink on the job. Captain Lee led Below Deck season 10 until he had to leave for medical reasons, and Captain Sandy stepped in as his replacement. Fraser and Chef Rachel told the captain about Camille’s bad behavior, and she was fired . Even after performing poorly throughout the charter season, she didn’t understand why her employment was terminated but returned during the crew’s final night out and made some amends with the crew.

Chef Mila Kolomeitseva

Below deck mediterranean season 4.

Chef Mila Kolomeitseva was unhinged during her time on Below Deck Med . Her casting marked the first time a female chef was featured on the franchise. Unfortunately, Chef Mila will also go down in Below Deck history as one of the worst chefs featured on the show. She had some terrible moments on the show, including when she attempted to make pancakes from a boxed mix and when she got caught licking steaks . Chef Mila was flabbergasted when Hannah Ferrier questioned her methods, and was fired by Captain Sandy after a guest called her food “ icky .”

Lexi Wilson

Below deck mediterranean season 6.

Lexi Wilson had a tough showing in Below Deck Med season 6. She worked underneath Captain Sandy and Chief Stew Katie Flood as a stew. Lexi showed little respect for the Chief Stew or the rest of the crew. When she drank, her behavior worsened . Lexi couldn’t get along with any of her co-workers, and Captain Sandy noticed this. The stew revealed the heartbreaking news that her father passed away three months before filming. Lexi was mourning during her time on the show and probably should have taken time before jumping back into the stressors of working on a superyacht.

Chef Ryan McKeown

Below deck down under season 1.

Chef Ryan McKeown had a huge ego on Below Deck Down Under . He was the first chef of the Australian-based spin-off alongside franchise favorite Aesha in her first time as Chief Stew on the show. However, his attitude quickly became negative. Chef Ryan clashed with Aesha and Captain Jason Chambers during the charter season. When the Chief Stew asked him questions about himself or his dishes, he snapped at her for no reason. Chef Ryan didn’t only disrespect Aesha but also the charter guests when he opted not to greet them at the beginning of the trips.

His distaste towards the Chief Stew was incredibly odd. Below Deck fans are fond of Aesha for her sweet, endearing personality. She was never rude to the chef, but it seemed as though he had a personal problem with her. Chef Ryan scoffed about her in his confessional interviews , stating, “ if [Aesha was] good at [her] job, we’ll have a good, healthy relationship ,” but if not, “ I just don’t want them around .” After multiple instances of disrespect, Captain Jason rightfully fired him.

Many crew members get fired for poor performance on Below Deck . Life on superyachts is mentally and physically taxing, and some can’t handle the pressure of life at sea. Without firings, Below Deck would be less shocking and entertaining, but it’s always sad to see a crew member’s employment being terminated on the show.

The Below Deck franchise is available to stream on Peacock.

Below Deck is a popular reality TV franchise that focuses on a group of crew members as they work on luxurious yachts and cater to their client's needs. After the original series proved to be a success, Bravo developed a handful of spinoff shows including Below Deck Selling Yacht, Below Deck Adventure, Below Deck Down Under, and Below Deck Mediterranean.

Below Deck executive producers Mark Cronin and Courtland Cox spill the biggest behind-the-scenes secrets of the series.

Spotlight Below Deck Producers Promote

Over the course of watching one episode of Below Deck , there are usually no less than 17 questions that enter our minds: How does one become a crew member (definitely asking for a friend)? Who pays for the charter? How do you even film a whole TV show on a yacht?

How to Watch

Watch  Below Deck  on  Peacock  and the Bravo App .

Well, Below Deck fans, we finally have the answers to these burning questions and so much more.

The Daily Dish got the behind-the-scenes scoop from executive producers Mark Cronin and Courtland Cox, who have worked on  Below Deck  and the first expansion of the series,  Below Deck Mediterranean , since their premieres in 2013 and 2016, respectively. Cronin and Cox gave us an inside look at what has gone into the seven seasons and more than 100 episodes of  Below Deck   so far as we prepare to welcome the newest addition, Below Deck Sailing Yacht , premiering Monday, February 3 at 9/8c.

Let these Below Deck producers take you on a journey through the show’s most shocking moments, unforgettable charter guests, and what's next for the series.

It Was Difficult to Find Crew Members at First

We can’t imagine anyone not wanting to be a part of the Below Deck crew these days, but when the Honor ’s yachties were being assembled for Season 1 of the show, people were hesitant to climb aboard, according to Cox. “Initially, it was very hard to get yacht crew members to commit to doing the show because it was an unknown entity. People didn’t know what Below Deck was," he explained, adding that some yachties didn't know if it would "jeopardize their future employment potential."

Since then, people with all levels of experience have been a part of the Below Deck crew over the years. “We have people that have worked in yachting for multiple seasons that have experience on big boats and small boats and with celebrity clientele and with very wealthy owners and have been all over the world,” Cox said. “These are real yachties. These are people whose careers depend on this.”

One of the main reasons Below Deck has been able to attract so many people in yachting is because they want to give their loved ones a glimpse into what they do for a living. “The vast majority of people that do the show, they always say, ‘I want to do the show because I want my friends and family to understand what my job is,'” Cox said. “And they’re like, ‘If I go on Below Deck , I will have a tangible, visible thing for my family and friends to understand what my job is.'”

Below Deck has even been “a constant learning experience” for Cox in that regard. “There’s always something interesting, there’s always an amazing story or an amazing technique or a shortcut here or there that’s fascinating to the people that are watching the show, fascinating to us, fascinating to the yachties,” he said. “That’s one of the big appeals of the show is I’m always learning something. The audience is learning something. I never assume that I know all there is to know about the world of yachting or what it takes to be a yachtie. I’m constantly learning from people that do the show, and I’m grateful for that, honestly.”

How Production Prepares the Crew for the Charter Season

Cox said that he has a talk with the crew on the boat as they prepare to set sail for the charter season. “I say to them all, ‘Things are gonna happen on a charter yacht, on this boat, and you’re gonna look at us and say, you guys as production are doing that to us, aren’t you?’” Cox recalled. “And I say, ‘The thing you have to realize is we’re never doing that; it’s really happening, and put us out of the whole equation of things because as you all know, things that happen on boats are so crazy and so unpredictable and so unimaginable that you just have to embrace it.'”

These Are the Moments That Made Producers’ Jaws Drop

There’s never a shortage of jaw-dropping moments on Below Deck , but asking producers to name just one is quite the challenge. “A million things come to mind,” Cox told The Daily Dish .

For starters, Cox said that he had no idea what was going on at first when Ashton Pienaar went overboard in Season 6 . “As a producer, I’m in the control room watching, and I can only see what the cameras are shooting, so I see that moment, I see the rope starting around Ashton’s ankle and then I see him go in the water, and then three seconds later, I see a camera being set down on the deck of the boat. And, as a producer, I’m yelling at my camera operators. I’m saying, ‘Why are we not shooting? What’s happening?’” Cox recalled. “And it’s not until well after the fact that I realize that our camera operator had set his camera down to untie the line to let Ashton free from the rope that he’s entangled in."

Cox said that he will also never get over the Season 1 moment Kat Held snuck off the yacht after Captain Lee Rosbach ordered her not to go out, which the captain watched play out for himself through the boat’s security cameras. “That’s one of those moments where it’s like, it’s so perfect the way that it happens as Lee’s watching it and laughing at Kat walking off the boat. You couldn’t script that any better than what actually happened in that real moment,” Cox said. “As a producer, watching those things really happen on the boat, those are the things that, in the midst of a crazy production when you’re tired, you see those moments and you’re like, that is completely amazing and magical.”

You see those moments and you’re like, that is completely amazing and magical.”

There was even a moment from the current installment of Below Deck , Season 7, that made it to the list for Cox, when Kevin Dobson made that penis cake for the last charter of the season. “Kevin is terrified by the reaction to that, he falls into a depression,” Cox said. “You cannot write those moments.”

It’s moments like these that always keep things interesting for those who work on Below Deck . “That’s the kind of thing that keeps me coming back to the show,” Cox said. “Every season, there are five or six moments like that that so completely engage me and so suck me in that I’m like, this is why Below Deck is an amazing show that you can’t do anywhere else.”

Producers Were Shocked When This Crew Member Quit

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

Not every crew member makes it to the end of the season, but Cox said he couldn’t believe it when Don Abenante decided to quit after Captain Lee reprimanded him for swimming with Rocky Dakota in Season 3. “That was a shocking, incredible, unforeseen departure where we all were like, ‘Wait, did that really just happen?’” Cox said. “That was shocking and amazing.”

Rocky jumping off the boat and diving into the water that same season was also a pretty epic — and literal — exit. “That’s probably the top departure in all of Below Deck history even though she came back to the show,” Cox recalled.

But when it comes to crew members who have been fired, Cox said that producers usually aren’t all that shocked when Captain Lee hands them a plane ticket home. “The firings are not really surprising ‘cause you see them coming for a while,” Cox said. “Sometimes sad. Sometimes not sad. Sometimes overdue.”

Yes, Guests Really Do Pay for the Charters

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

Below Deck charters cost a pretty penny, and they are paid for by the charter guests, including that wad of cash they hand over for the crew’s tip. “They spend their real money to be on the show," Cronin explained. "And then the tip they leave, they decide what it is."

Most of the charter guests have chartered yachts in the past or have been really eager to do so, according to Cox. “They’re not people that are coming on because they feel like this is a good chance for them to get on TV. This is a great experience for them to charter a very large yacht with a very experienced and fun crew and have an amazing three-day charter in an amazing location,” he said. “I want them to enjoy their charter and not be afraid to ask for things if they want. And I think that at the end of their charters, like, every charter guest we’ve had has said this has been an amazing experience.”

What Viewers Get Wrong About the Show

Spotlight Below Deck Producers 01

Cox said that some Below Deck fans have a major misconception about the series. “[What] the viewers get wrong most is how real the show really is. Our job is to sort of stay in the background and turn cameras on what’s really happening,” he said. “I think people are so jaded by reality TV, they think that everything is thought ahead five steps or eight steps, and we are really genuinely filming what’s happening on a working charter yacht with people that are working on the yacht.”

Let’s be real, no one could ever predict all the crazy things that go down on Below Deck . “I wish that I had the imagination and creativity to come up with the things that actually happen on the show because the things that happen on the show I could never in a million years come up with, could never imagine them,” Cox said. “I think that’s why fans respond to the show the way they do because it’s very authentic.”

This Is What Producers Think of "Difficult" Charter Guests

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

As we all know from watching Below Deck , some of the charter guests are more pleasant than others when they board the yacht. While the crew is usually not too thrilled to be serving guests like this, they’re always fun for the producers — and the audience — to watch. “They make for great entertainment,” Cox said, adding that in the yachting world outside of the show, “Guests are difficult and so I love that.”

However, Below Deck would be nothing without its outrageous charter guests, including one of Cox’s all-time favorites, Steve Bradley , who appeared in Seasons 3 and 6 . “Steve is 1 million percent Steve. Like, if I could bottle the essence of Steve and inject that into my veins, I would totally do that because he is authentically, 1,000 percent living his life,” Cox said. “He finds joy in everything and he has a great time, and when you listen to the yacht crew when Steve was chartering the yacht, they all say, ‘I want to be Steve when I’m 60 or 65,’ because he is just fully engaged in his joy and bliss. So, I love those kinds of guests.”

You look at them as a producer and go, ‘I want to live that life,' those are the guests I love seeing.”

Of course, Dean Slover , who chartered the yacht in Seasons 2, 3, and 4, has also been memorable for Cox. “I love Dean Slover. Dean’s been on three charters because Dean always comes with his amazing bevy of these beautiful men that come on the boat and they’re in skimpy bathing suits and they look incredible and I’m like, I want to be all those guys. They look incredible,” Cox said. “Again, somebody that just fully embraces the joy of it. So, I mean, I think the guests that come on and have an amazing time, and you look at them as a producer and go, ‘I want to live that life,’ those are the guests I love seeing.”

Producers “Weren’t Happy” When They Found out Adam and Malia Knew Each Other on Below Deck Med

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

Producers were just as shocked as you were to find out that Adam Glick and Malia White had already met prior to the start of Season 2 of Below Deck Med . “Well, we weren’t happy about it. We were like, ‘What? This is terrible. We didn’t know this.’ We didn’t understand what their conversations meant,” Cronin recalled. “But this always happens on Below Deck . If you find out something late, you can go back and look at what you have in the footage and find those moments.”

Cronin cited Rocky and Eddie Lucas ’ hookups in the laundry room in Season 3 as another example of this. “We didn’t know it initially, and then we found out late. But once we found out, we went back in the footage and we found all those little moments,” Cronin said. "We will always get the story.”

Why Below Deck Left the Caribbean — and Where It May Be Heading Next

Spotlight Below Deck Producers 05b

Below Deck cruised around the Caribbean for five seasons before it relocated to other parts of the world, including Tahiti in Season 6 and Thailand in Season 7.

Cox explained the reason for the move. “Unfortunately, the Caribbean, after we shot our last season in Saint Martin, had a terrible hurricane that went through there and tragically destroyed a lot of the infrastructure, a lot of the housing, everything in the Caribbean was pretty much wiped out. And so we had this very difficult decision to make of do we go back to the Caribbean?” Cox explained. “Ultimately, we decided that it was better for us to step away for a season or two, let the region recover, let people get things up and running before we come back.”

However, Cox said he hopes the show will be back in the Caribbean again one day. “Hopefully, we will be returning to the Caribbean very soon,” he said. “I’m happy to get back there, but also it was great to be able to go away and see different things and see exotic locations and different cultures.”

How the Series Has Changed the Most After More Than 100 Episodes

where is below deck sailing yacht season 3 filmed

After seven seasons of the show so far, Below Deck has gotten bigger — a lot bigger. “We had a very small filming and production crew in Season 1. We didn’t really know what the scope of the show was going to be," Cox said. “We very quickly realized the yachties that are working on these boats, they’re not going to bed at 10 o’clock; they’re going to bed at 2 o’clock in the morning. When our cameras pulled out of there at 10 p.m., there was still four hours’ worth of magic and mayhem and all that was happening. We very quickly realized we have to actually bring in more crews and film longer. Going from, like, an 11-hour filming day to now what is essentially a 19 or 20-hour filming day, that’s one of the bigger changes.”

We’re capturing, I think, 125 percent more footage than we did in the first three seasons on Below Deck .”

These days, the film crew captures “an amazing amount of footage,” according to Cox. “We have surveillance cameras we didn’t have before . We have handheld cameras,” he said. “So production-wise, we’re capturing, I think, 125 percent more footage than we did in the first three seasons on Below Deck .”

And Below Deck continues to change. “We’re always learning, and for me, it’s very important. I never want to assume that the way we did things last season is the right way to do things. I know that the audience, the Bravo audience, especially, the Below Deck audience, they’re a very savvy audience. They want things to be different, and so for us, it’s about, are we capturing things that are compelling, and what are the things that we didn’t capture last time that the audience wants to see, and how can we capture that? It’s always trying to stay one step ahead and anticipate what the audience wants to see, but still keeping with the authenticity of that world,” Cox said. “It’s a fine balance of not interfering in what’s happening but capturing things in a way that’s compelling and keeps the audience engaged. So, that’s our challenge, and I actually love the challenge. I love being able to have to stay ahead of it. I love not being able to rest on the laurels of how we did things in the past.”

‘Below Deck’ Accused of Covering Up Gary King’s Sexual Misconduct

By Krystie Lee Yandoli

Krystie Lee Yandoli

Bravo ’s Below Deck was recently lauded for its handling of sexual misconduct when a producer on Below Deck Down Under broke the “fourth wall” and intervened when one cast member, Luke Jones, tried to get into bed naked with another cast member, Margot Sisson, without her consent while she was inebriated and passed out. Not only was Luke fired from the show, but their fellow cast member and stewardess, Laura Bileskalne, was also let go because of victim-blaming comments she made to Margot about the incident and her own line-crossing pursuit of deckhand Adam Kodra.

While viewers and fans of the show applauded the pivotal on-screen moment, production crew members who have worked on the popular, Emmy-nominated franchise say they’ve experienced and witnessed sexual harassment and misconduct from other cast members behind the scenes without seeing any real accountability.

Suarez says she met King for the first time when the cast and crew arrived in Sardinia in preparation to film the fourth season. Crew members stayed in the same hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Olbia-Sardinia, for the whole duration of filming. Cast members joined them and stayed in the same hotel prior to filming charters on the yacht  and on the few “dark days” during the season when no one in production or the cast worked.

One “dark day” in July when the cast members were staying at the hotel, Suarez accompanied an inebriated King back to his hotel room after he filmed his interviews for the show, where she says producers provided him with a substantial amount of alcohol.

“There is no limit to alcohol consumption whatsoever, which I think poses a really big problem,” she says.

Suarez says when King asked her not to leave she joked with him that she would sit outside of his door to make sure he wouldn’t leave his hotel room. According to Suarez, King then suggested she get in bed with him and repeatedly asked her not to leave his room even though she says he was aware that she was in a relationship with someone else. After a few minutes, she insisted she had to leave and help other cast members, telling King she would return later to drop off snacks and water. She says when she went back to King’s room with a case of water bottles and a bag of snacks, she knocked on the door and King answered the door in his underwear. She says she asked King to take the case of water out of her hands and he continued to ask her not to leave his hotel room.

“I was like, ‘I have to go — I need to go bring other people water and food,’ and he’s like, ‘No, no, please,’” Suarez says. “So I stepped into the room to set the case of waters down and again, he’s repeating, ‘Don’t leave,’ and I was like, ‘I have to go, I’m not staying.’”

“At that point, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was freaking out,” Suarez says. “It just happened so fast.”

In that same moment, Suarez says she received a phone call from the talent manager and answered it. She says that’s when King let go of the door and she stepped into the hallway to take the call.

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone.’ He tried to come up behind me and put his arm around me. He’s in the hallway in his underwear and it’s all weird and fucked up, and so I’m just like, ‘Just go back in your room and don’t come out.’”

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone.’“

Suarez says she immediately told producers what happened following the incident when she saw them in the production office. The next day, she says a co-executive producer reached out to her and they had a conversation about what happened. After Suarez spoke with the co-executive producer she says she had another meeting with him, executive producers Courtland Cox and Vivian Choi, as well as the show’s talent manager. She says she told the producers she didn’t feel comfortable being around King, she didn’t want to do his hair or makeup, and she didn’t want to be alone with him or in the same room as him. She says Cox apologized to her and said the producers would have a conversation with King, assuring Suarez that King would be fired from the show if any other incidents occurred. She says the next day producers removed King from the hotel where the rest of the cast and crew members were staying and for the rest of the “dark days” during filming, he was instructed to sleep on the boat.

“It pretty much sucked from there on out,” Suarez says. “I was just in a super depressive state.”

King declined to comment for this story. A spokesperson for Bravo told Rolling Stone in a statement, “Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns.  The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.”

“With any complaint filed, a timely investigation is launched and, based on the findings, appropriate actions are implemented to ensure the safety of our cast and crew, up to and including termination. With regard to the incident reported by Ms. Suarez involving Mr. King, the case was investigated and reviewed as soon as it was submitted, and production acted accordingly based on the results.”

According to Saurez, she stayed inside her hotel room for a week following the incident with King and didn’t immediately return to work because she says she was upset, depressed, and her mental health declined; she says she even debated going home and not finishing out the rest of the season.

At the time, Suarez also reached out to Zach Klein, the COO of 51 Minds Entertainment, to report the incident. In emails reviewed by Rolling Stone , Suarez detailed the incident to Klein and wrote:

“[King] comes up behind me, puts his arms around me, holds me against his body, physically restraining me from leaving, and says stuff like no don’t go. I get out of his grip, tell him again that I have to leave, that I am not staying, and I go reach for the door knob and he comes over and puts both his hands on the door, with his whole weight, to push it shut. This whole time he’s laughing. I ask him to please let me out of the room, that I have to go. I then get a phone call from [the talent manager]. He sees and hears that I answer and he finally moves away from the door, allowing me to open it. I step outside, not even able to listen to what [the talent manager] is saying to me because I’m so overwhelmed at that point, and Gary grabs his room key, comes out of his room, again, is only in his underwear, letting the door close behind him.”

After emailing Klein, emails reviewed by Rolling Stone confirm that an HR representative for Banijay America, the parent company of 51 Minds, reached out to Suarez and asked her to have a conversation. Suarez says she spoke to the HR representative who then arranged for her to speak with a counselor. Suarez says the HR representative stayed in touch with her for the remainder of the season and told her the company was conducting an investigation into the incident; at one point, Suarez says the representative told her she spoke to other crew members and to King about what allegedly happened.

Later in the season, Suarez says the HR representative also asked her not to talk about the incident with other production staffers because “it was becoming water cooler talk” on set and it seemed like Suarez was “trying to rally the troops” against the show. Saurez says she wasn’t even alongside her fellow crew members in the week following the incident but because of her absence, people reached out to her and asked her why she wasn’t on set. Suarez says she told the HR representative that she explained what happened to the people who reached out to her and asked for clarification about whether or not she was “allowed” to talk about the incident with her colleagues. Suarez says the rep told her yes, she was allowed to, but discouraged her from doing it.

In later conversations, Suarez says she expressed to executive producers that she was upset about how the situation was addressed. She says executive producers responded by saying they originally offered to fire King from the show when the alleged incident happened. Suarez says she wanted leadership to make that decision based on the information they had and not put the responsibility on her to say whether or not she wanted King fired, especially since she didn’t actually have the power to enforce that decision. After the incident, Suarez says she only saw King in passing a couple of times around the hotel but that they never directly interacted or communicated.

“He’s next-level scary with women,” they say.

Three other people who did not work for 51 Minds Entertainment, NBC, or Below Deck spoke to Rolling Stone and say that Suarez told them about the alleged incident with King at the time.

Another crew member who requested anonymity out of fear of repercussions tells Rolling Stone later in this same season, they witnessed King grab a female cast member’s butt and continue to touch her inappropriately even though she said, “No,” and told him to stop. While filming at a beach club in Sardinia, the crew member says King was inebriated and they also witnessed King grab another production crew member’s genitals. During off days in between charters, Below Deck typically films cast members partying on and off the boat in their free time. It’s common to see cast members drunk and engage in sexual activity with one another on camera.

The crew member says they reported the issue on their walkie talkie, which they use to communicate with the executive producer, director, and other people working in the control room. According to production crew members, there’s a control room set up in one of the guest rooms on the boat where producers monitor live footage. When they’re filming on location off the boat, they set up an area nearby that acts as a control room.

“The girl was literally saying, ‘No, stop, don’t,’” the crew member says. “I’m explaining this over my walkie and no one’s acknowledging it.”

“The girl was literally saying, ‘No, stop, don’t.’ I’m explaining this over my walkie and no one’s acknowledging it.“

They say a producer eventually approached King and told him to stop. After the producer spoke to him, the crew member says King walked over to a camera operator who was on a break and grabbed his genitals.

The crew member says these incidents were filmed but didn’t air on television. They say they’re not sure what happened to the footage of King’s alleged behavior or other footage that the production company doesn’t end up using for TV. Typically, the crew member says, producers and editors have access to raw footage filmed in the field at least until the editing stage.

“I had to promote and make this guy who just assaulted someone look awesome,” they say. “That was my job, to make this person look cool, capable, and exciting.”

The production crew member says after they were vocal about witnessing King’s alleged harassment on set throughout filming, they were not asked to return to the show after working for different iterations of the Below Deck franchise for years. Suarez also says she thinks she was retaliated against for reporting King’s behavior to the production company and that’s why she wasn’t asked to return to the show. Suarez says while King got to stay on Below Deck without consequences, she lost the opportunity to work after reporting the alleged misconduct. For Suarez, there wasn’t enough done to remove King from the show or hold him accountable after he allegedly exhibited inappropriate behavior toward her and other women.

“You’re an executive producer on the show and you’re not even worried that your cast member put his hands on me and is being a creep currently while being on TV?” Suarez says. “Somebody shouldn’t be able to keep a platform for being a gross creep.”

Productions’ handling of the incident with King exhibited a pattern to Suarez who says she told a producer about a separate incident that allegedly occurred when she filmed Below Deck Season 10. She says she was put in charge of accompanying the male cast members from a car to their hotel and bosun Ross McHarg made her feel uncomfortable.

“He was just making these weird, lewd, sexual, gross comments toward me to the point where the other boys in the car were like, ‘Shut up Ross, why are you saying these things to her?’” Suarez says. “There was stuff like that that I expressed to production as well and, you know, nothing happened thereafter.” (McHarg did not respond to requests for comment.)

According to Suarez and three other staffers who worked in production for Below Deck , someone from HR delivers a sexual harassment and cultural sensitivity training before each season. Producers also allegedly tell staffers if something goes awry during filming to communicate it on their walkie talkies and someone in the control room will respond. At the beginning of the season, crew members say they’re also explicitly told not to break the “fourth wall” and interact with cast members under any circumstances.

“For a show like this where there is alcohol and sex involved, I think there should be an intimacy coordinator-type position on these shows or something like that,” one crew member says. “There should be some accountability and some standardization practice where it’s not just up to some dude [in the control room] who has been producing television for 20 years.”

Inspired by the SAG strike, former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel has been vocal about what she calls the mistreatment of reality stars by networks and her desire for talent to unionize for better protections. Earlier in August, lawyers on behalf of a handful of unnamed reality stars sent a letter to NBCUniversal accusing the company of manipulation, covering up instances of sexual violence, and other claims regarding their reality shows. The purpose of the letter was to ask NBCUniversal to hold possible evidence ahead of litigation.

Suarez also thinks there should be protocols for crew members to follow when they witness or experience sexual harassment or misconduct from a cast member or anyone else on set.

“Why can’t you just get on TV and be like, ‘Gary had to be removed from the show for his misconduct?’ If anything, that would make me respect the producers and the show and everything a lot more if they were just honest instead of trying to sweep things under the rug, which is what feels like happened.”

Ranking Every ‘Below Deck’ Show From Most to Least Memorable: Mediterranean, Adventure and More

Bravo's Below Deck series has inspired several spinoffs — but not every one has left an impression.

Below Deck , which debuted on Bravo in 2013, introduced viewers to various crew members who reside and work on a superyacht during charter season. The original series quickly became a major success for the network, spawning spinoffs that include Below Deck Mediterranean, Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure .

The show has since become an example of Bravo's rare all-year long programming with a Below Deck series airing new episodes at any given moment. While most of the cast has changed from season to season, viewers have gotten invested in some of the mainstays , which are usually the captains and the chief stews or bosuns.

However, not every show has stuck with fans the exact same way. Certain iterations didn't last longer than a season while others have become more memorable than the OG Below Deck show.

A Guide to ‘Below Deck’ and Its Many Spinoffs: ‘Below Deck Mediterranean,’ ‘Below Deck Down Under’ and More

Keep scrolling to see Us ' ranking of the Below Deck shows — in order from most to least memorable.

1) 'Below Deck Mediterranean'

When some of Us weren't looking, Below Deck Mediterranean surprisingly became the backbone of the franchise that earned it first place on this list . A large part of that is Captain Sandy Yawn , who for better or for worse has gotten viewers reinvigorated about Below Deck . It takes a special kind of captain to not always make decisions everyone likes but that keeps fans coming back for more.

Sandy's priority is being a good captain but somewhere along the way she became Below Deck gold. Everything else is just icing on the cake when Sandy is at the center of every season in the Mediterranean.

2) 'Below Deck'

The original show paved the way for every other iteration to find its place on Bravo. Without Below Deck — and Captain Lee Rosbach — fans wouldn't know just how compelling drama on the high seas can actually be.

One reason why Below Deck isn't at the very top is tied to the show’s decision to fix what wasn't broken. Captain Lee was the face of the franchise — so it wasn't easy to say goodbye when he was replaced following a decade on Below Deck . The switch came several seasons after chief stew Kate Chastain left and it was too much change at once for some of Us .

3) 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'

Speaking of shows overshadowed by controversy, Below Deck Sailing Yacht had it all when it originally premiered on Bravo in 2020 . Paternity scandals, love triangles and Below Deck alums that overstayed their welcome by making the audience turn on them again.

Captain Glenn Shephard confidently steered Below Deck Sailing Yacht into a successful future but other factors ultimately got in the way.

First of all, Daisy Kelliher 's messy feelings for Colin Macrae and Gary King sounded like good reality TV on paper but it wasn't as interesting on screen. The trio actually made it harder to come back around each week because it was exhausting to see them hash out their confusing issues.

Season 4 wrapped up with the promise of more episodes before Gary made headlines for his sexual misconduct scandal. He has maintained his innocence and no official statement has been given on the future of the show but Below Deck Sailing Yacht has yet to release any news about another season since the drama.

4) 'Below Deck Down Under'

The spinoff set in Australia should have been a slam dunk with Bravo's favorite hottie Captain Jason Chambers and fan-favorite chief stew Aesha Scott by his side. However, Below Deck Down Under initially struggled because it was premiering on Peacock instead of Bravo meaning viewers didn't know to look for a new show.

Season 2 was what put Below Deck Down Under on the map but not for the reason anyone was hoping. A shocking consent scandal halfway through the season resulted in Luke Jones and Laura Bileskaline getting fired from the boat , which Below Deck Down Under was applauded for as new episodes continued to cover the aftermath.

Despite the fact that Jason and Aesha received praise for how they handled the situation , there has been no news about the show's future. It is possible that the drama overshadowed the show itself — and not in a good way.

5) 'Below Deck Adventure'

The fourth spinoff was meant to be the most action-packed as guests signed up for thrill-seeking activities along the Norwegian Fjords. After premiering in November 2022, Below Deck Adventure failed to find an audience week to week and subsequently faded out of everyone's mind.

Bravo never announced the show's cancellation but it's probably safe to assume that not many fans were asking for a status update. Instead, Captain Kerry Titheradge was moved to Below Deck and everyone forgot the first failed Below Deck spinoff series.
