Designed and built a performance ocean cruiser the, Outremer 40′ Standard is a speedy passage maker. They were built as a light displacement boat with slippery hulls and a very powerful rig. Large nets forward minimize weight in the bows and, similarly, the hulls extend well aft of cockpit, keeping the stern light. Concentrating weight amidships gives the boat excellent handling and seaworthiness. The distinctive Outremer sheerline and coach roof curves make the 40′ Standard a very attractive craft.

Outremer Specialties

Designed by Gérard Danson, the OUTREMER 38/43 is the 40/43’s sister ship. She differs from the 40/43 with a smaller beam: 6.20m instead of 6.80.

Outremer has always been about strong construction, quality, durability, simplicity and performance.

This boat was built in 1998 and the first owner had Outremer extended transom to 43 feet during the build which provides better sea keeping, higher speeds, more storage space and enabled the boat to be fitted with direct drive engines instead of Sail-Drives.

The accommodations are simple and functional.

The layout of this Outremer 38/43, is slightly different that the standard layout providing better connection and communication for the crew.

Port hull has aft head with shower, central double cabin and forward single cabin. Starboard hull has a Galley aft, with a large single central cabin and forward single cabin.

Galley has Eno 2 burner Hob, Dometic Fridge with Freezer runs 12v, 220v and propane.

Bridge deck has dinette and sofa seating.

As is typical on all Outremers, there are spacious sail storage, and cockpit lockers.

This boat has a factory installed rotating carbon mast with with control lines

Sur plans Gérard Danson, l’OUTREMER 38 aussi appelé Outremer 40 light est une unité taillée pour la croisière rapide en toute simplicité. Construit en 1996 il s’agit du premier plan officiel de Gérard Danson pour le chantier Français, modifié à partir des années 1996 (comme cette version) avec un grand roof pour augmenter l’habitabilité de la première version. Le résultat : un meilleur volume tout en conservant une extrême légèreté et l’aspect fun de tous les Outremer, uniquement 3.8T au peson à l’origine ! Les coques du 38 et du 40 sortent du même moule. Seule la largeur du bateau diffère, 6.2m au lieu de 6.80. Encore dans son plan premier, c’est-à-dire non allongé à 43, il s’agit d’une très rare version du 38 stricte (qui fait bien 40’ de long en réalité) En bref, le concept de l'Outremer 38 est du plus simple : rapide, marin, simple, puissant, fun ! Un bateau qui vous permettra tant une sortie à la journée qu'une régate 3 bouées ou un programme de grand voyage comme ont pu le faire ses premiers propriétaires. Au niveau aménagements, ce superbe 38’ joue dans la cour des grands ! A lighter version

The Outremer 4X is a performance catamaran that makes no compromises on seaworthiness by staying true to its ocean cruising DNA. Its build is optimized for weight gain. The sail plan and deck layout are studied to handle all weather conditions.

While preserving the same level of comfort as the Outremer 45, the Outremer 4X pushes the boundaries of performance on an ocean cruiser. Blue-water cruising as a family or competing in a regatta, the Outremer 4X can do it all!

A cruiser-racer sailplan

Genoa and staysail, the preferred configuration for demanding sailors for their cruising catamaran. To optimize performance in light airs and efficiency in heavy weather, nothing can match the genoa + staysail combination. Of course, you will have to do more maneuvers, manage tacking and set up the removable forestay to set the staysail, but the satisfaction of a well-set sail plan is more than worth the effort!

Structural weight savings

The 4X includes more carbon in the strong structural elements: mast, bulkheads, compression beam, bimini support, etc, but also benefits from additional weight savings: the attention to detail is pushed very far! On the scales, despite having more equipment, the 4X performance catamaran weighs 500 kg less than the 45, and therefore accelerates faster!

The hunt for superfluous weight in the interior

Simple and light-weight fixings, but the same quality of finish as the Outremer 45 blue water catamaran. To lighten the boat, we suggest, for example, replacing the doors and some shelves with fabric structures, closed with zips or even magnets: simple and effective. The storage space is the same, and even if some Corian worktops have been replaced by lighter composite, the same concern for quality can be seen in every detail of this comfortable liveaboard catamaran.
