“Yummy lamb to enjoy” Review of Aist

Been there on several occasions with friends and colleagues. Location. It is located at M.Bronnaya street, the central part of Moscow, just in front of a Synagogue. We had some concerns regarding parking, but luckily enough we were lucky. Always found a parking bay. Staff. The hostess, especially the gentleman was always friendly, smiley and approachable. That's a good start for every restaurant. Waiters are 50/50. Need some training. Place/ambience. As to the place itself, it has 2 floors( including fine dining), outdoor sittings & one terrace one the top, which is lovely! Food. The food was good. We really enjoy mains including lamb ( very very tender!), home made potatoes with rosemary, olives & grilled tomatoes...mmmhh...yummy! However, the desserts were mediocre, particularly mango/ excotic one. Would not recommend it. Drinks. Quite good wine selection, offered cocktail list and just lovely non-alcohol drinks. Cost. Well, an av.bill is £40-70 p.p.(wine not included). Pricey? So, for general public probably it is. For business & wealthy people taking into consideration such combination of the location/convenience, food & service, it is not. All in all, we had a great time there. Would award it 4 out 5 stars (see our comments & recommendations above).

It is one of my favourite restaurants in Moscow and it is practically just outside my door. What I appreciate is more the feeling in this restaurant than actually the food. Never disappointed, but the final touch is seldom there. The sushi menu is better than most and price worthy. Wine ridiculously expensive. Overall not the cheapest place on earth, but it's also not expected. Could be good for this restaurant with a renewal in the kitchen. Summer roof top veranda and especially the entrance level veranda is one of the nicest in Moscow.

Know the place very well, but never been for breakfast. The food is excellent, but service is extremely slow: 10 mins to place order, 10 minutes then waiting for juice, another 10 minutes to get food. In our case it was even worse with food - they brought it outside, we were sitting on veranda, and left the food on the tray for another 5 minutes or so. So food got cold, but waiters were somewhere, slowly administrator recognized it herself and brought our dishes. But there were no forks and spoons served yet, after more than 30 minutes sitting at the table!! She brought them fast but anyway it's disorder in the process, something should be done with it. Everyone knows Aist is not for fast dining but this was too much even for them!!

We were only two in the party and had an outdoor table under the heating lamps. We had great buchetta's, risotto finally followed by lam. Everything was great presented nicely and with attention from the waiter. As alway wine is a bit expensive in Moscow - we had a nice Sancerre les caillottes. A vey enjoyable evening and I am sure I will be back and bring my family

I have walked past this restaurant on many occasions but not been in before. The menu is varied with many offerings for both starts, soups and main course, and all of our guests really enjoyed what they had. I had the rib-eye, and it was in the top 3 of any I have ever tasted, and was cooked to perfection (I asked for extra pepper sauce and would suggest you do the same:)) We were there on a Wednesday, so it wasn't so busy, but even so the atmosphere was good and the service was excellent. It was a little expensive, but the food, wine and service justified the bill at the end of the night.

Russia's Nuclear Deterrent Command Center Imperiled by Winter Freeze—Report

A Russian nuclear deterrent command center in Moscow has been imperiled by power outages that have impacted more than one-quarter of the region's cities amid freezing temperatures, a Russian Telegram channel has reported.

The VChK-OGPU outlet, which purports to have inside information from Russian security forces, reported that the 820th Main Center for Missile Attack Warnings—part of the Russian Space Forces, a branch of the country's Aerospace Forces—near Solnechnogorsk in Moscow is without power.

It serves as the space forces early warning network against potential ballistic missile attacks.

The development comes as Russians are reported to be suffering from power outages in their homes in the Moscow region caused by technical issues at plants amid subzero temperatures.

On January 4, a heating main burst at the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant in the town of Podolsk, which is about 30 miles south of central Moscow. Since then, tens of thousands of Russians are reported to have no heating in their homes.

Affected areas include the cities of Khimki, Balashikha, Lobnya, Lyubertsy, Podolsk, Chekhov and Naro-Fominsk, a map published by a Russian Telegram channel and shared on other social media sites shows.

Other Russian media outlets reported that in Moscow, residents of Balashikha, Elektrostal, Solnechnogorsk, Dmitrov, Domodedovo, Troitsk, Taldom, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Krasnogorsk, Pushkino, Ramenskoye, Voskresensk, Losino-Petrovsky and Selyatino are also without power.

The Telegram channel said that at the 820th Main Center for Missile Attack Warnings, "the crew...is on duty around the clock."

"It is here that the decision on a retaliatory nuclear strike is executed," the channel said.

Newsweek could not independently verify the report and has reached out to the Russian Defense Ministry by email for comment.

Power outages have also been reported in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, in the country's western Voronezh region, in the southwest city of Volgograd, and in Rostov, which borders Ukraine, a country that Russia has been at war with since February 24, 2022.

On Sunday, two shopping malls in St. Petersburg were forced to close because of problems with light and heating, reported local news outlet 78.ru. Hundreds of other homes in the city have had no electricity, water or heating for days amid temperatures of -25 C (-13 F).

Russian authorities have also been forced to compensate passengers of a train that ran from Samara to St. Petersburg (a 20-hour journey) without heating during -30 C (-22 F) temperatures. Videos circulating on social media showed carriage windows frozen over. A passenger also said the toilet didn't work during the trip because of frozen pipes.
