Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is home to one of the best championship golf courses in Russia. This mainly open parkland layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.

Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club is located 20 miles north of Moscow in an historic area of Russia. Yachting takes place on the nearby Pestovskoye reservoir, which is one of the largest man-made lakes along the Moscow Canal system. Golf, on the other hand, is played on part of Prince Serebryany’s 16th century patrimonial estate. The impressive manor houses of Nikolskoye-Prozorovskoye and Marfino are located close by.
The English father and son team of Dave and Paul Thomas designed Pestovo as a Russian championship course that will compete with Moscow Country Club in terms of quality and challenge. The architects achieved their objectives, as Pestovo hosted the Russian Seniors Open in July 2008, which Welshman Ian Woosnam won.
The course at Pestovo Golf can be stretched out beyond 7,000 yards from the tips but numerous tees will make the course playable for all levels of golfer. The course is routed in a snake-like figure of eight and the holes and topography vary between forest and open country. This final hole over the lake in front of the clubhouse makes the eighteenth a memorable hole on this golf course. Only a short iron is needed for a second shot, but the lake will catch any mis-hits or pushed approaches.
The Pestovo project is unique in Russia featuring not only sailing and golf but also a lifestyle spa and equestrian centre which will provide the perfect recreational facilities for those that choose to live in the homes and apartments which will be developed around the course.
The Dave and Paul Thomas company also fashioned the course at Pine Creek Golf Club at Yekaterinburg in Russia or Playa Serena Golf Club in Spain.

Meet Stephen Dundas, Director of Golf at Pestovo Golf and Yacht Club
How did you get into golf?
I’ve watched golf on TV when I was 4 and asked my dad to take me to try it. I played on a Pitch & Putt for a year and when I was five I finally got to play my first round of golf.
Tell us a bit about your The Open experience? How did you feel at the first tee?
As a kid you dream about playing at The Open . Hitting that 1st tee shot and walking up the 18th hole with the huge grand stands… It was a dream come true.
I was not so nervous as I had already played in The Masters, other PGA Tour and European Tour events, but I would still say it was in my top 3 golfing experiences.
You are the Director of Golf at Pestovo Golf and Yacht club since 2008. What are you most proud of since taking the role?
There are many achievements I am proud of while at Pestovo Golf and Yacht Club .
In 2008, we had 15 members, made 800,000₽ in lessons and had no sponsors. Today, we have 140 active golfers, 11 million ₽ in lessons and 20 million ₽ in sponsorship. But more importantly, it’s been nice to grow and train my team. They are now very knowledgeable about golf and hospitality.
How do you see the golf industry evolve in the next 10 years? And how Russian golf will evolve?
In order to grow the game at a faster pace, Russia and most countries need more driving ranges, Pitch & Putt courses and 6 to 9-hole golf courses near cities. The Russian Golf Association is doing a great job and more than 20,000 kids have been introduced to golf through educational programs. We also need to make sure that the best talents can continue to evolve and be competitive on an international level.
What do you think of the All Square website and Apps?
I think anything that provides a platform for people to share their experiences in this great game can only help grow the game and keep golfers more engaged. All Square is a fantastic tool to facilitate golfers lives and encourage interaction between golfers.
What is your favorite golf destination?
It is hard to beat Scotland if the weather is good but that’s a big IF!
Palm Desert and Dominican Republic are pretty cool destinations too, but what I have to say for sure is that people have to come to Russia to play golf. Many of our courses offer the highest standards of quality. Golfers will be impressed.
What are your 3 favorite courses in Europe? the UK? the US? Asia?
In Continental Europe they would be: Pestovo Golf and Yacht Club, Morfontaine Golf Club, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande

The Pestovo Club is located 28 kilometers north of Moscow. Pestovo is home to a golf course, a yacht club, an equestrian center, cottages, recreation and entertainment facilities.  Pestovo Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course stretching for over 6.5 kilometers. Each hole is provided with an illustrated description.  Cottages and low-rise apartment buildings are located in the club’s territory. Some sectors border on the golf course and lakes with islands, some are adjacent to the woods.  Aside from yachts, the Yacht Club on the shore of the Pestovo reservoir offers facilities for seminars and banquets.  In the village there are a tennis court, a beauty parlor, a fitness center, a swimming pool, a water amusement park, a fountain , , places for angling , , skiing tracks and bicycle paths. Each of 18 championship course holes is unique and interesting. All course twists and obstacles are created in order to make a golfer of any level interested to come through the whole route. The course has been created by architects Dave Thomas and Paul Thomas. Its high class allows it to host PGA tournaments and it has a rightful status of one of the best golf courses of international class.

In 2013, Caddy began working at the Pestovo Golf and Yacht Club. In 2015, he began to combine the work of Caddy with work in a golf store. In 2016, he became a caddy master in Pestovo, gathering a team of caddies of 20 people and began teaching them the rules, etiquette and intricacies of golf.
