Jeff Bezos’ New Yacht Is Finally Ready to Set Sail

Amazon’s founder has been spotted on Koru, a massive schooner with a design that evokes the golden age of sailing in the early 20th century.

Just in time for the high season of yachting in the Mediterranean, when multimillion-dollar megayachts descend on ports like Monte Carlo and St. Tropez, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has been photographed with his partner Lauren Sánchez on his new boat, Koru, off the coast of Spain.

Mr. Bezos’ vessel is a sailing yacht, a departure from the diesel-powered, floating palaces popular with other billionaires. But it is still massive. At 417 feet, Koru is the world’s largest sailing yacht, according to Boat International , and it cost an estimated $500 million to build, Bloomberg reported . (Parsifal III, the boat featured on Bravo’s reality series “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” is 177 feet long — less than half the length of Koru — and cost $18 million , according to the website SuperYachtFan.)

A spokesperson for Mr. Bezos did not comment for this article; neither did Oceanco, Koru’s builder. Here is what to know about the boat.

For traditionalists, Koru is refreshing. At a time when yacht design skews outrageous — see the lizardlike, 262-foot Artefact or the otherworldly 463-foot Yas — Koru stands out as a schooner, a sailing vessel with two or more masts. Photos reveal a large sailboat with three masts, an on-deck pool and a voluptuous mermaid on the bow, that bears a resemblance to Ms. Sánchez. But otherwise, the sleek, classic lines suggest the patrician age of yachting in the early 20th century, said Robert B. MacKay, author of “The Golden Age of Newport Yachting: Between the Wars.”

“With the clipper bow and the dark hull and the masts,” Mr. MacKay said, referring to Koru’s concave, pointy forward section, “it reminds me of a boat built in 1930 for J.P. Morgan Jr., Corsair IV. It is almost like a reincarnation. It’s certainly at odds with the stuff the oligarchs are building — those look like bloated Clorox bottles.”

Compared with the world’s very largest motor yachts — built for sheer size and the accompanying bragging rights — Koru could almost be considered quaint. Azzam, one of the world’s largest motor yachts, is nearly 200 feet longer.

The Experience

Koru will be propelled primarily by the wind. “Sailboats are usually greener than most powerboats,” said Don Anderson, a former captain of M5 , the world’s largest single-masted sailboat, at 256 feet. “I’d like to think that Koru will be one of the most ecological yachts out there, with its sails and also with the technology that will be aboard.”

“When you’re on a sailboat, you’re more in touch with the wind and the waves than on a powerboat,” he continued. “You’re more susceptible to the elements, too. But you can leave California, and once you get past the Catalinas you can basically surf downwind all the way to Hawaii. All you need to do is run with the waves.”

Mr. Bezos has been a guest on similar boats, according to Bloomberg: In 2019, he was spotted on Eos , a 305-foot sailing yacht owned by Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg.

Bill Tripp, a Connecticut-based naval architect, said the appeal of this type of boat is clear: “When you are on a powerboat, you ask, ‘Are we there yet?’ and on a sailboat, you’re enjoying the ride and the ocean so much that you don’t ask that question.”

Koru will be trailed by Abeona, a 246-foot support vessel. Superyachts often have support vessels following along behind them. These “shadows,” as they are colloquially known, are for the “toys” — the ATVs, supercars, seaplanes, motorcycles, smaller boats, scuba gear, personal submarines and even helicopters that pleasure boaters might bring on a trip. According to its builder, this model of boat can carry these gadgets along with dozens of crew members. (Ms. Sanchez flies helicopters, and the couple was recently photographed taking a helicopter to board Abeona and then Koru.)

Abeona, a motor yacht, will have enough range to follow Koru from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean — a common course for yachts — on a single tank of gas.

The Kerfuffle

Koru set off a controversy last year — before it was even completed — in a face-off with the Dutch city of Rotterdam. The boat was built at Oceanco’s facility in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands, and needed to pass the historic Koningshaven Bridge, known as “De Hef,” in Rotterdam, to undergo testing in the North Sea.

When the city announced it would dismantle the bridge to allow the boat and its mainmast — an estimated 230 feet tall — to pass through unscathed, locals were angry. They planned a protest to throw eggs at the yacht as it cruised by. In the end, the bridge was not taken apart, and the yacht was towed to a different location to have its masts attached.

Koru is Maori for “coil” or “loop” and refers to the unfurling of a fern frond. The koru design is common in traditional Maori art, where it symbolizes new life, growth and peace. Mr. Bezos included a photo of a koru frond in an Instagram post on Jan. 1, 2022.

Brad Stone, who was the first to report on Koru, in his 2021 book “Amazon Unbound: Jeff Bezos and the Invention of a Global Empire,” said the name was “consistent with where we see him today.”

“He is no longer this single-minded tech guy,” Mr. Stone said. “He’s in media and Hollywood and has a new relationship.”

In case you missed it, Jeff Bezos has been traveling with fiancée Lauren Sanchez around the Mediterranean and, most recently, Portofino, Italy. 

The cruise on the 417 superyacht named the Koru began in the first half of May. Along the way, Bezos and Sanchez became engaged.  

Sanchez started secretly dating the Blue Origin founder in the summer of 2018. Bezos then announced in January 2019 he and wife Mackenzie were divorcing after 25 years, and Sanchez finalized her split from husband Patrick Whitesell later that year.

Sanchez, 53, took selfies aboard the world’s tallest sailing yacht June 12. Its three huge 229-foot masts power it to 20 knots.The colossal, triple-masted Koru even has its own support vessel, Abeona, a megaboat in its own right. The luxurious launch carries Sanchez’s personal helicopter.

Koru was first seen under construction in 2021 at Oceano’s yard. The company is owned by a fellow billionaire, Oman’s Mohammed Al Barwani. As many as 18 guests can enjoy the yacht’s three outdoor decks, including one with two pools. The vessel, which has a crew of up to 36, also boasts a cinema, meeting spaces and lounges.

Portofino is an ancient Italian Riviera town near Genoa. Known for its luxury boutiques, pastel houses and cobblestone square, its history as a fishing village made it an ideal location to drop anchor for the newly engaged couple.

On June 13, Bezos and Sanchez spent part of the day strolling around the town, enjoying the warm southern European sunshine.

The large yacht took several years to build, and it had an issue in 2022 fitting under a bridge near where it was being constructed in the Netherlands.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Coast Through Italian Riviera On $500 Million Superyacht Following Engagement The pair was spotted off the coast of Portofino, Italy.

Jeff Bezos' $500 million superyacht has been making waves (and not just in the ocean) since the public learned of its controversial riff with the Dutch shipyard where it was being built and its over-the-top amenities and features.

Now in sailing shape, photos of Bezos cruising through the Italian Riviera with his fiancé Lauren Sanchez hit the internet on Wednesday, showing the billionaire dotingly playing the role of "Instagram Fiancé" as he snapped photos of Sanchez to get the perfect shot.

Bezos named the vessel Koru, which is the name of a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new "unfurling silver fern frond." In Māori culture, the symbol symbolizes new life, growth, strength, and peace.

A figure of a woman's body is also emblazoned on the front of the boat, which eagle-eyed Bezos fans have noticed bares an uncanny resemblance to Sanchez. Bezos has not confirmed nor denied the speculation.

The boat is roughly 417 feet long and reportedly the largest sailing yacht in the world.

In the sculpture, the woman figure is wearing a necklace with the Koru symbol.

Bezos' net worth as of Wednesday afternoon was an estimated $151 billion.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos was seen snapping photos of his rumoured fiancé Lauren Sanchez aboard his new yacht as it travelled through Italy, making him the world’s most overpaid “ Instagram boyfriend”.

The couple, who reportedly got engaged in May, took a trip to Portofino, Italy, on Monday. As captured in pictures shared by the DailyMail , they set sail on Bezos’ superyacht, Koru, which is reportedly worth $500m.

While aboard the large luxury boat, Bezos wore a black shirt and multi-coloured swim trunks, while his partner of five years wore a black bikini, which she paired with matching sunglasses.

The Amazon founder, who is worth more than $148bn , also took a moment to be Sanchez’s personal photographer. While leaning on the metal railing of the yacht, the 53-year-old appeared to pose in front of the iPhone her partner was holding.

As he faced the camera toward Sanchez and the boat’s deck, the Blue Origin founder could be seen leaning back in an apparent effort to capture his partner’s best angles.

In another picture of the couple, shared by the DailyMail , the 59-year-old was captured handing his phone to Sanchez, presumably so she could see how the photo shoot turned out.

“He’s an Instagram boyfriend,” one person tweeted in response to the photos of the couple, while another said: “This has me giggling because one of the wealthiest men in the world is no different than other dudes when it comes to being forced to take multiple pics of their lady until she’s happy with the angle and lighting lol.”

“I’m putting this on my vision board,” someone else joked of the couple’s behaviour, while another described the moment as “relationship goals”.

As noted by The Atlantic , Kaitlyn Tiffany explained on the podcast Why’d You Push That Button? that an “Instagram boyfriend, or husband, is a loose term for whoever is the invisible person behind the camera of all of your Instagram photos”.

The couple arrived on the yacht in Italy via helicopter, with Sanchez and Bezos landing on Koru’s support vessel, a shadow boat for the super yacht that is reportedly worth more than $75 m .

The couple were also reportedly joined in Portofino by Sanchez’s three children. The former news anchor shares one son, Nikko, with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez, as well as a son, Evan, and a daughter, Eleanor, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.

Meanwhile, Bezos shares three sons and one daughter with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, who he was married to for 25 years. The former couple keeps their children’s lives private, with only the name of their eldest son, Preston, known to the public.

Last month, it was reported that Bezos and Sanchez had gotten engaged after five years of dating . The rumours of an engagement came amid the couple’s first vacation aboard Bezos’ super yacht. Bezos reportedly popped the question while the couple were in Cannes, France, for the Cannes Film Festival.

On 25 May Sanchez seemingly hinted at the engagement on her Instagram Story, where she shared a photo of herself on the trip. In the caption, she wrote:  “Cannes 2023. That was fun.”

Days later, fans were quick to mock Bezos when it was reported that he spent more than $4,000 on a bottle of wine during the weekend of his engagement.

According to People , Bezos forked over $4,285 for an off-menu bottle of Dugat-Py Grand Cru from Domaine Bernard, which the couple enjoyed at La Petite Maison in Cannes, France. However, the New York Post reported that the same bottle of wine sold at auction in March 2022 for just $647, which is more than $3,500 less than what Bezos allegedly spent.

Five months before her reported engagement, Sanchez opened up the realities of being in a high-profile relationship with Bezos in an interview with WSJ Magazine .

According to the reporter, her relationship with the entrepreneur has meant that she has had to change the way she shares information, and secrets.

“It’s hard. I’m a very open person. I talk a lot. I like to tell all my secrets,” she said, before adding: “I have had to learn that I can’t do that.”

She also said that prioritising privacy and keeping information to herself is something that she has to think about “all the time”.

“I want to tell everyone everything. I want everyone to be my friend!” she said. “I learned how to not give the location of where I’m at. I can’t Instagram things that I normally would before. I have to be more private, a little more controlled, and that’s fine.”

A series of photos taken Monday show Jeff Bezos hanging out with his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, on a ship in the Italian Riviera. She's seen reclining against a flag pole and testing out a variety of poses as Bezos snaps some photos.

You'd be forgiven for thinking it's just standard couple-on-vacation stuff, but then you'd be compelled to remember that this is not just any billionaire, and it's not just any boat: It's the world's third-richest billionaire, and, per multiple media reports, it's Bezos' $500 million yacht.

The 417-foot vessel, named Koru , set sail in February. You may remember it from that time in 2022 when the Dutch nearly had to dismantle a historic bridge to let the vessel pass through Rotterdam.

It's hard to tell from a distance, but it looks as if Bezos may be wearing his signature aviators. Sadly, the iconic $260, octopus-print swim trunks from 2019 didn't make the cut this time.

Bezos and Sanchez were also photographed on the yacht off the coast of Spain in May, shortly after they hit up Coachella . The pair are hot-yacht-summer experts by now: In 2019, they made headlines for partying with Lloyd Blankfein and Karlie Kloss on David Geffen's yacht, Rising Sun, off the coast of Spain.

And you can't see it in this recent series of photos, but Bezos' yacht is adorned with a female bust, which people have been speculating is modeled off of Sanchez.

The Dutch, by the way, ended up not dismantling the old bridge for the sake of Bezos' big boat.

Bezos didn't immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside regular business hours.

Jeff Bezos’s Yacht Remains the Best Place to See and Be Seen

Jeff Bezos bought a big boat. It’s called Koru and reportedly cost an estimated $500 million , a preposterous sum, just to build it. This has been the second- or third-biggest story in seafaring in the last month or so, depending on your level of interest in orcas and submersibles.

Unfortunately, I can’t confirm this through experience, but it stands to reason that if you have a ludicrous amount of money, you’re looking to spend a chunk of it. Most of these guys seem to come to the same conclusion: Gotta buy a yacht. Buying a yacht is such a tantalizing opportunity to just let go of money that will never be recouped again. These guys can’t resist the siren song of the sea. 

Yachts are also the best place to see and being seen. Think about it. You’re out there on the deck, peering out into the briny deep. Sometimes there is land, ho, and sometimes there is merely the horizon line. What a view. 

And somehow paparazzi always find you. Take Lauren Sanchez, fiancée to the third-richest man on the planet, Bezos. She and her betrothed have been at sea for about a month in the Mediterranean, and have been photographed countless times. The latest from this weekend in St. Tropez, France. 

This time around, Sanchez was photographed on board with surfer Laird Hamilton, along with others. Bezos was also enjoying one of the big boat’s little pet boats—a speedboat—with Hamilton and some other people, the Daily Mail reports , though there were no photos of that. Soon after, paparazzi photographed Sanchez lifting off in a helicopter from Koru ’s $75 million support vessel, which also has a name: Abeona.  

Some of the biggest paparazzi photography of our time is from boats, the celebrities surrounded as they often are by open waters ungoverned by any one nation. Iconically, there was Princess Diana on a yacht diving board . You could probably make a coffee table book of just Leonardo DiCaprio on yachts . It would be enormous. LeBron James working out , Beyoncé jumping , and Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp making out ? You can thank a boat for those. Besides the red carpet, yachts might be the best place to observe celebrities being celebrities en plein air.

Unless, of course, lasers get involved. Back in 2009, when paparazzi were possibly at the peak of their scourge, it was rumored that Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich installed antiphotography technology on his yacht, Eclipse. It would shoot actual lasers at the lenses of curious cameras. You can, it would seem, also buy privacy if you wanted.

For most billionaires, though, when you’re buying a yacht, you are buying a stage. So for all the slander against murky waters this week, the hottest club in the world for billionaires remains the open sea. You are buying a lot of things when you buy an enormous boat, but total privacy does not seem to be one of them.

It’s the Bezos’ love boat!

Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was spotted canoodling with girlfriend Lauren Sanchez aboard a mega yacht in Venice, Italy, on Thursday evening.

The pair exchanged hugs and kisses — and also checked their phones — aboard the boat, which is owned by fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg and her hubby Barry Diller.

They were joined by movie producer Jason Blum and his wife Lauren Schuker along with Allison Williams’ ex, Ricky Van Veen.

Bezos and Sanchez got off the boat shortly after they were spotted in each other’s arms, and were later seen walking hand in hand in the Italian city.

Bezos, the world’s richest man, claimed in February that he was  extorted by supermarket tabloid the National Enquirer  because of his relationship with Sanchez.

The Enquirer published an expose on his affair with Sanchez, which included salacious text messages between the pair.

In an email to Bezos, the tabloid’s editor threatened to publish more of his text messages, including nude photos, if he did not end a private investigation into the company.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is appears to be getting closer to welcoming the superyacht he reportedly commissioned in 2018: a fancy toy fitting for the world’s second-richest person, given that it costs a reported $500 million and breaks one world record after another.

Called Y721, this vessel of all vessels is being custom designed by Dutch builder Oceanco and was spotted at a shipyard last week in Zwijndrecht, a town in the western Netherlands. It’s reportedly heading to another Netherlands town, Alblasserdam, for a final fitting. With a length of 417 feet, Y721 is the biggest sailing yacht in the world and the longest vessel to be built in the Netherlands. Features include a black hull, classic shape, three large decks, and three masts.

Superyacht Bravo Eugenia , belonging to the U.S. billionaire Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, was built by Oceanco, which is also rumored to be behind Bezos’s new massive vessel.

Y721 is going to totally change the world of yachting with its design and innovation, says Fernando Nicholson, a luxury yacht sales broker with the yachting company Camper & Nicholsons. “It’s a boat with the latest technology and bells and whistles that have never been seen,” he says. “This will be the standard for all superyachts to follow, but in years to come, when its features become more affordable. Right now, only someone with Bezos’s wealth can swing the cost.”

The superyacht is said to be modeled after Oceanco’s famous yacht, the Black Pearl , which the company site says , “is one of the largest and most ecological sailing yachts in the world. She can cross the Atlantic without burning even a liter of fossil fuel.” Y721 will go through sea trails following its fitting-out in Alblasserdam and is expected to be ready sometime next year.

However, it’s only one of two new boats for Bezos: He has also commissioned a shadow vessel called YS 7512 from builder Damen Yachts. This support ship measures 246 feet in length and accommodates 45 additional crew and guests. It will also feature a helipad and meeting space and have a vast amount of storage for Bezos’s endless number of water toys, with diving and snorkeling gear, jet and water skis, waterslides, and surfboards among the bunch. Shadow vessels are a growing phenomenon in the superyacht industry and one more extra toy that their owners want to have at the ready, says Nicholson. “You see them more and more now as an add-on to a superyacht purchase,” he says. “They’ve almost become a must.”

There’s no doubt that Bezos will be sailing the high seas in full panache and style come 2022. But really, is there any other way when you have more money than almost anyone else in the world and attract an endless amount of attention too?

Throughout the summer there were rumors that Jeff Bezos, creator of Amazon and one of the richest men in the world, was on vacation in Italy . What is certain is that the megayacht Flying Fox, owned by him, has been spotted several times in the Mediterranean Sea , more precisely off the Sardinia and Sicily Italian coasts.

Who is Jeff Bezos?

For the few who don’t know him yet, it is right to make a premise and explain who we are talking about: born in 1964, Jeff Bezos is considered a pioneer of technology, a great American entrepreneur who was able to build a real empire based on Amazon.

Driven from an early age by a passion for technology, he studied computer science and electronic engineering, then landed on Wall Street, where he worked as the vice president of an investment company. When he has already reached what seems to be a well-started career, he decides to quit his job and launch himself into the Amazon project around 1995. From that moment on, growth has been exponential, as in 1997, when Bezos and his associates decided to launch into the world of e-commerce presenting itself as an online alternative for shopping.

In 2013 he completed his affirmation in the world of economics with the purchase of the Washington Post, paid for an incredible 250 million euros.

What kind of yacht is the Flying Fox?

Defining it as a luxury yacht, even if true, is an understatement for this boat.

According to the world’s largest yachts ranking, Flying Fox is positioned at number 20 while instead, it is the tenth-largest yacht built by the German house Lürssen , based in Bremen.

Flying Fox is a 136-meter-long motor yacht delivered in 2019. If it is true that size sometimes doesn’t matter, with a width of 22.5 meters, a draft of 5.1 meters, and a volume of over 9,000 tons, designers did not want to run the risk of going unnoticed.

About the project, the exterior design was entrusted to Espen Øino International, while the interiors were signed by Mark Berryman Design Ltd.

Flying Fox means huge spaces for guests

Up to 25 guests can be accommodated aboard the Flying Fox superyacht, which also can accommodate up to 54 crew members. The service onboard is therefore guaranteed.

Guests are split between 11 cabins, although calling them such doesn’t do them justice. These are luxurious mini-apartments studied in every detail. The master suite incorporates its own study and benefits from his and her bathroom. The remaining 10 are all top-notch VIP suites.

Fairytale quality and equipment the Jeff Bezos’ yacht

It is useless to list the countless comforts that can be found onboard.

Interiors, made of bamboo, teak, and oak wood, have space for a spa complete with a wellness center, sauna and steam room, a diving center with underwater lights, a real cinema, and even a lounge with a fireplace to relax after a “busy” day. All bridges are naturally connected with a comfortable and large internal lift.

The most sensational features, however, are found on the outside. On the main bow deck and on the upper aft deck there are not one but two helipads, while just above the aft beach club there is a beautiful swimming pool that covers almost the entire ship width.

Flying Fox: Excellent performance for an oversized yacht

Built with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, Flying Fox offers greater stability at anchor thanks to its displacement hull.

It is powered by two MTU engines and sails comfortably at 15 knots but quickly reaches a top speed of 20 knots. Flying Fox is equipped with 682,500-liter fuel tanks that give it a range of up to 6,500 nautical miles at cruising speed.

Where was Jeff Bezos’ yacht Flying Fox in the summer of 2021?

Bezos’ megayacht was spotted several times off the Italian coast this summer, attracting great curiosity from local and international media.

It is not certain who was on board, if the owner of Amazon himself or some other wealthy guest, as the stages and the route followed by the Flying Fox are not clear.

According to the various sightings that followed, it started from Nice , in France, would have sailed southwards, first touching the Aeolian Islands , then continuing towards Sardinia and Sicily where it was sighted in Balestrate, off the Palermo coast. Finally, head towards the Gulf of Naples and the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast .

What if we want to rent Flying Fox?

We can safely say it: it is not a yacht for anyone. Flying Fox seems to have been bought by Jeff Bezos for a figure close to half a billion dollars!

Although it is a private yacht, it is nevertheless possible to rent it but at a monstrous figure: The company that manages the Flying Fox rents this sea jewel for short periods at a cost that is around three million euros per week!

Jeff Bezos  and  Lauren Sánchez 's summer travels have taken them to a new destination!

After embarking on a European getaway that included hosting an engagement party earlier this month on the Amazon founder's yacht on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, the couple was spotted taking an evening stroll in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

The billionaire, 59, and Emmy Award-winning journalist, 53, were dressed casually as they walked hand in hand down Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street, with Bezos' security following close by. Tourists and locals were spotted stealing a glance as they were joined by Katy Perry , Orlando Bloom , and Usher .

Perry, 38, and Bloom, 46, were seen hanging out with the group just a few weeks after the couple was spotted vacationing in Saint-Tropez, France , while on their own romantic getaway that included a stop in London .

Usher, 44, joined in on the trip a few weeks after wrapping the first run  of his Las Vegas residency and releasing his latest single, "Good Good ," featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage .

Speaking about how his concert performances inspired the new music drop , he shared with PEOPLE exclusively, "I look out in the audience sometimes and I can see tears and I see his eyes, or I see guys singing a song that normally like, this guy super-duper hard, why the hell is he singing that song so emotionally? Oh s---, that means he probably experienced some idea of what it was to even make it. So I get really excited about that, so much so that it made me want to make new music."

It's been a celebratory couple of months since news of Bezos and Sánchez's engagement broke in May . Following the news, a source  told PEOPLE  that the couple "are really in love and happy, which makes everyone who knows them happy."

"They have been talking about it for a long time. All of her friends say this is her dream come true," the source added. "She found the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with, and they felt the time was right. He has all the money in the world, and what was missing was someone to share it with and everybody on both sides is very happy."

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos  was spotted waving to a group of tourists from the deck of his $500million superyacht as he partied with his fiancée Lauren Sanchez and a group of women off the coast of Italy .

The billionaire, 59, has been enjoying something of a Euro trip on his mega-yacht Koru - which means 'new beginnings' in Maori - since the middle of May with Sanchez, making stops in a number of resort towns in Spain, France , and Italy.

In exclusive footage obtained by MailOnline, a group of excited revellers on a nearby boat can be heard screaming as they realise that they are sailing past the $500million yacht (£393m) - which even has a sculpture of Sanchez, 53, on the bow.

Bezos, standing on the yacht's deck in a black shirt and cream trousers, and six women can be seen waving back at the group who serenade him and his Emmy-Award winning fiancée with screams of 'We love you'.

The 127-metre-long superyacht was spotted off the coast of Sardinia on June 23 and was followed by a large supporter vessel that had a speed boat and helicopter on it.

The engaged couple have been pictured several times during their luxurious cruise on the yacht which was built in 2021.

It's possible the couple has been celebrating as DailyMail.com reported in May that Bezos had popped the question to Sanchez after four-years of dating.

Just days ago, news anchor Sanchez was spotted having a go at landing a helicopter on the luxury yacht's support vessel, Abeona, in Sardinia.

Photographs captured the journalist repeatedly attempting to touch down on the billionaire's vessel as they opted to take in the sights by air for a change.

The newly-engaged couple were also spotted walking hand in hand on the sand having lunch with friends at Nikki Beach - a trendy beachfront property on the bay of Cala Petra Ruja that is only accessible by private yacht.

The couple's helicopter trip came after Sanchez showed off her toned physique in a  make-up free bikini post on Instagram with the caption: 'Unfiltered summer...'.

They were first seen on the deck of the floating mansion on May 18 after flying into Europe on a private jet.

Bezos and Sanchez were previously joined by Sanchez's two teenage children, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Patrick Whitesell.

Meanwhile, they also spent a weekend hanging out with surfer Laird Hamilton in St. Tropez.

As Bezos laps up his lavish holiday with his girlfriend, back home it is business as usual for the Amazon chief executive.

The billionaire and Leonardo DiCaprio are now part of the effort to protect the vital areas of the Amazon rainforest through the Protect Our Planet Challenge.

Between DiCaprio's Re:Wild conservation and Bezos's Nature Solutions, the two non-profits are putting $200 million into the POP Challenge that will 'support the expansion and management of Brazil's protected areas and Indigenous territories,' according to Variety.

The hefty donation will be used over the next four years to help Brazil achieve zero deforestation in the Amazon and accelerate the South American country's transition to a sustainable and green economy.

Jeff Bezos’s massive yacht anchors next to oil tankers as boat is too big for port

Amazon founder, space enthusiast , and the third wealthiest man in the world Jeff Bezos has a parking problem with his mega-yacht .

At a Florida marina this week it became apparent that the $500m ship was too big to be moored with the other private yachts at Port Everglades.

At an impressive 417ft in length, “Koru” — the Maori word meaning new life or regeneration — had to be moored alongside oil tankers, container ships and the Liberty of the Seas cruise ship.

Port Everglades is a major gateway for Caribbean cruises and international trade, but the yacht section cannot accommodate vessels larger than 400ft.

At just over that length (almost twice the length of an Airbus A380 or equivalent to four blue whales) other accommodations had to be made.

A spokesperson for the port told The Times that it was in an area for energy ships and that when such large yachts come into port, they are docked wherever there is space.

Koru came into port last week from Gibraltar and with three masts is the second-largest sailing vessel in the world after Sailing Yacht A, owned by Russian fertiliser billionaire Andrey Melnichenko and designed by Philippe Starck.

While it is pipped in length, it is nevertheless the tallest sailing yacht in the world with its masts reaching 230ft into the air.

Despite its enormous size — or perhaps because of it — Koru has a support vessel, the Arbeona, on which Bezos keeps his helicopter, jet skis, and luxury cars. That 246ft boat is docked four miles away at Dania Beach.

It costs an estimated $25m per year to staff and operate Koru, which has three decks and a pool. The Amazon founder proposed to fiancée Lauren Sanchez onboard over the summer after five years of dating.

During an interview with Vogue , Sanchez was asked about her apparent resemblance to the figurehead of the yacht — depicting a woman carved in the style of a Roman goddess with long hair and a flowing gown — after press suggested that it was a carving of her. However, according to Sanchez, that speculation is not true.

“I’m very flattered, but it’s not,” she said, before adding that the figurehead was one of Bezos’ favourite mythological figures, Freyja, the goddess associated with love, sex, war and gold.

She also poked fun at what the statue would look like “if it was” her, as she jokingly made the gesture of having larger breasts.

Bezos and Sanchez recently announced they are relocating from Seattle to Miami to be nearer his mother and adoptive father who are both in their late 70s.

The billionaire has bought two neighbouring properties on Indian Creek Island alongside Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Tom Brady, and Norman Braman, who owns the Philadelphia Eagles.

O wning a superyacht is a rite of passage for tech billionaires. Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon.com Inc. Founder Jeff Bezos, two of the wealthiest people on the planet, have each made headlines with their extravagant yacht purchases. Zuckerberg recently acquired two luxury vessels totaling $330 million, including a yacht and a support yacht. 

While $330 million is a lot of money, it's not going to put a significant dent in Zuckerberg's net worth. According to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List from March 7, Zuckerberg is worth $179.5 billion. A $330 million expenditure comes out to 0.18% of that. That's the equivalent of someone with a $1 million net worth spending $1,800 on a fancy canoe.

Zuckerberg’s flagship purchase is the Launchpad, a 387-foot beauty that boasts a helipad, dive center and decompression chamber — perfect for Zuckerberg’s adventurous spirit. Additional features include a massive observation lounge, a pool and a bar area. Industry publication Luxury Launches notes it will likely cost Zuckerberg at least $30 million per year to operate Launchpad.

Accommodating 24 guests and a crew of 48, Launchpad offers luxury and comfort on a grand scale. Zuckerberg’s second purchase, the support vessel Wingman, provides additional space and amenities, including a helideck and a dive center. Wingman includes space for a variety of toys, such as a submersible, various rescue tenders, diving gear, Vespa scooters and a host of other vehicles and equipment. 

Originally commissioned by Russian oligarch Vladimir Potanin, the ship remained in its Dutch shipyard for some time before the Dutch authorities allowed its sale to a non-Russian — Zuckerberg.

In terms of size and expense, Bezos’s superyacht and his support vessel dwarfs Zuckerberg’s. Bezos owns Koru, the world's largest sailing yacht, which reportedly cost at least $500 million. His support ship Abeona is a 246-foot motor yacht that carries crew and an array of vehicles and supplies. Bezos took steps in late 2023 to hide his yacht's location from the public , turning off Koru's automatic identification system (AIS), a data tracker that transmits a ship's course and other information to improve safety and communication with nearby ships. 

Other billionaires, including LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault, also own yachts. Arnault owns Symphony a 333-foot luxury yacht. While Bezos's 417-foot yacht is gigantic and ostentatious, it is also surpassed by other mega yachts. The House of Nahyan, the royal family of Abu Dhabi who are considered the richest family in the world , owns the Azzam, the biggest yacht in the world at 591 feet. 

As these tech titans continue to push the boundaries of wealth and extravagance, their superyachts serve as symbols of their success and status in the world of billionaires.
