Lo stilista valentino sbarca a ostia. il tenero segreto delle iniziali del suo yacht, approda al porto turistico lo yacht “tm blue one” dello stilista valentino garavani. questa è l’estate dei maxiyacht.

Con l’approdo del “ TM Blue One ” dello stilista Valentino Garavani continua la saga dei maxiyacht che attraccano a Ostia. L’imbarcazione ha ormeggiato questa mattina e una serie di limousine con i vetri oscurati hanno prelevato gli ospiti che erano a bordo .

Lo yacht dello stilista, imperatore dell’eleganza made in Italy, porta un nome legato in modo indissolubile ai genitori di Valentino: T e M, infatti, sono le iniziali rispettivamente della mamma Teresa e del papà Mauro .

Il TM Blue One è una nave storica varata nel 1988 dai Cantieri Picchiotti di Viareggio per il famoso couturier italiano che era all’apice del successo. Per l’occasione Valentino volle a “bagnare” lo scafo una madrina d’eccezione, l’incantevole Sophia Loren.

La motonave al momento del varo misurava 41 metri ma sette anni fa, nel 2014, è stata allungata e riprofilata fino a raggiungere una lunghezza di 49 metri e 9 di larghezza, allestimento eseguito con particolare accuratezza dalla Lusben di Viareggio.

La livrea blu, con banda azzurra e strutture sopracoperta bianche, richiama alla mente quei blazer blu sopra una maglietta bianca, divise tipiche del classico yachtman.

L’imbarcazione in alluminio stazza 460 tonnellate e può ospitare fino a 10 ospiti più 9 membri d’equipaggio. Il “TM Blue One” batte bandiera italiana e questo fa onore a Valentino che non ha scelto, diversamente da molti altri imprenditori, di registrare la propria imbarcazione in uno dei paradisi fiscali.

Lo yacht di Valentino non sfigura rispetto al panorama delle barche vip che hanno ormeggiato a Ostia durante l’estate in corso. Per qualche giorno a cavallo tra prima e seconda decade di luglio ( leggi qui ) dalla spiaggia i bagnanti hanno potuto apprezzare il profilo minaccioso della Bleu de Nimes  (72 metri), nave da guerra trasformata in natante extralusso.  Il 30 giugno ( leggi qui ) l’orizzonte era stato caratterizzato dalle sagome del Madsummer (95 metri per 250 milioni di valore) e dal Savannah (83 metri per 100 milioni.

Il 6 giugno ( leggi qui ) era stata la volta del Ocean Pearl , un panfilo da 41 metri dalle linee futuristiche disegnate da Norman Foster.

Valentino, lo stilista a bordo del suo yacht tra Camerota e Palinuro

E’ stato fotografato ieri a largo di Marina di Camerota , all’altezza della spiaggia del Troncone lungo il litorale della Cala del Cefalo/Mingardo, uno dei più affascinanti yacht del Mediterraneo, con livrea blu con striscia azzurra e strutture sopracoperta bianche “like a yachtman blazer with white shirt”. È quello di Valentino Garavani l’imperatore dell’eleganza e il nome T.M. è un omaggio ai suoi genitori, la madre Teresa e il padre Mauro. Nella sua crociera estiva ha toccato Montenegro, Croazia e i porti del sud Italia. Lo yacht T.M. Blue One è una nave storica costruita più di trent’anni fa dai Cantieri Picchiotti per il famoso couturier italiano che era all’apice del successo, per il varo volle come madrina una splendida Sophia Loren. La barca nata 41 metri è stata allungata e riprofilata a 49 metri nel 2014, un lavoro importante realizzato dalla Lusben di Viareggio. Valentino è stato il primo stilista italiano a farsi un lussuoso yacht, scegliendo un cantiere navale glorioso.

Una piccola curiosità è costituita dal fatto che Valentino è stato il primo stilista italiano a farsi costruire un lussuoso yacht, scegliendo il prestigioso cantiere Picchiotti di Viareggio. Non è chiaro se a bordo vi sia effettivamente lo stilista, che lo scorso 11 maggio ha festeggiato i 90 anni .

Fa bella mostra di sé il T.M. Blue One alla banchina della Pilarella, molo tra i più famosi del Mediterraneo che ha visto ormeggiati panfili di Re e Regine e le più famose barche del mondo in 150 anni di yachting all’Argentario. Valentino è stato il primo stilista italiano a farsi un lussuoso yacht, scegliendo un cantiere navale glorioso.

Si tratta di un ritorno in Cilento per lo yacht del famoso stilista. Due anni fa, infatti, il  Blue One,   fu avvistato a  Scario, a Marina di Camerota  e  Palinuro.

PORTO SANTO STEFANO . Sono tornati nel mare del Pozzarello a Porto Santo Stefano gli splendidi Yacht “TM Blue One” di Valentino e “Private GG” del suo storico compagno Giancarlo Giammetti. 

Tm Blue One è uno dei più affascinanti super yacht del Mediterraneo con livrea blu, banda azzurra e strutture sopracoperta bianche. «Non può che essere di Valentino Garavani , il sovrano dell’eleganza – dice il comandante Daniele Busetto di Artemare club – il nome T.M. è un omaggio ai suoi genitori, le iniziali dei nomi della madre Teresa e del padre Mauro, è una nave da diporto oramai storica costruita più di trent’anni fa dai Cantieri Picchiotti per il famoso couturier italiano all’apice del successo e per il varo ebbe come madrina una splendida Sophia Loren. La barca nata di 41 metri nel 2014 è stata allungata e riprofilata a 49 metri, un lavoro importante realizzato dalla Lusben di Viareggio. Private GG nelle acque del Pozzarello

“Private GG” è un modernissimo Wallyace 27 metri , progetto curato dallo studio Allseas e da Alberto Pinto Design, che ha creato il design eclettico della nave, primo e unico motor yacht dislocante nella sua gamma di dimensioni che offre oltre 160 metri quadri di spazio abitabile all’interno con un’altezza eccezionalmente e 130 metri quadri spazio esterno su due ponti.

Le sue cabine sono progettate per ospitare fino a 7 passeggeri con 3  standard e l’appartamento di lusso del proprietario. Le altre sono per l’equipaggio, fino a 4 persone.

L’approccio inside-out percorre tutto lo yacht dislocante, caratteristica introdotta da Wally nel mondo dello yachting e maggiormente sviluppata in Private GG nella zona giorno completamente circondata da vetri che offre una vista a 360 gradi , introducendo finestre più grandi e libere della sovrastruttura per migliorare l’esperienza di vita dentro e fuori.

Il sistema di propulsione è caratterizzato da motori che funzionano a bassi regimi e che offrono molti vantaggi come vibrazioni e rumorosità ridotte, consumi ridotti, poca manutenzione e lunga durata, la qualità  della crociera è garantita dallo stabilizzatore giroscopio e la velocità di crociera di 12 nodi è sviluppata grazie ai motori Caterpillar C12345 hp.

Valentino Garavani è l'ultimo custode della haute couture: incoronato Imperatore della moda, ha conquistato regine del cinema, first lady e star aristocratiche con i suoi abiti eleganti, preferibilmente scarlatti

“ Ho realizzato il sogno della mia vita, creare abiti femminili ”, con queste parole lo stilista si presenta nel documentario di Matt Tyrnauer, Valentino, L'Ultimo Imperatore (2008), la pellicola che ha celebrato i 45 anni di carriera. E ora che ha compiuto 90 anni (Valentino Garavani nasce a Voghera l'11 maggio del 1932), possiamo dire che la sua creatività ha segnato profondamente la bellezza sin dalla nascita della sua label, nel 1960, al fianco di Giancarlo Giammetti, compagno d'affetto e d'affari.

Il debutto è nella Sala Bianca di Firenze nel 1962: fa parte degli stilisti italiani di seconda generazione che creano nuove immagini, nuove idee e nuovi stili. Eugenia Sheppard dell’International Herald Tribune nel 1967, lo definisce così “ la Rolls Royce della moda. La grande notizia è che Valentino fa concorrenza a Parigi. Il suo stile ha le stesse qualità dei grandi come Dior, Jacques Fath e Balenciaga. È impalpabile, come la bellezza o il sex appeal, ma fa venire a tutte le donne la voglia di comprare ”. La sua intera carriera è votata all'eleganza: si può dire che non è stato rivoluzionario bensì un perfezionista, come la ricercatezza del dettaglio e l'equilibrio di forme e colori. Valentino conosce le donne e sa cosa desiderano: vogliono essere belle al naturale, seguendo la filosofia platonica, proprio come rivela il film di Matt Tyrnauer.

Valentino Garavani sarà uno dei protagonisti della moda italiana della seconda generazione, quella ritratta nella foto iconica del 1985, al fianco di Laura Biagiotti, Mario Valentino, Gianni Versace, Krizia, Paola Fendi, Gianfranco Ferrè, Mila Shon, Giorgio Armani, Ottavio Missoni, Franco Moschino e Luciano Soprani.

Nel 1974 le presentazioni della moda si spostano dal capoluogo toscano a quello lombardo: Milano è una città moderna, industriale, simbolo delle avanguardia, del design e del “boom” economico post-guerra. Lo stilista pavese stupisce tutti, scegliendo di presentare le sue collezioni Boutique a Parigi. È qui che prende forma definitivamente lo stile Valentino: non si è mai piegato allo scorrere del tempo, alle tendenze fugaci sempre più povere di contenuti o inclini al marketing.

Il suo lavoro si è sviluppato tra le fitte trame della ricerca: qualità dei tessuti, tagli impeccabili e costruzioni sartoriali uniche che rimangono scolpite nell'immaginario. D'altronde un'opera vera richiede impegno notevole e dedizione, per essere realizzata. Le sue creazioni sono la prova che la moda non è mera frivolezza ma una continua ricerca della bellezza, da lui raccontata (o mostrata) con fiocchi, pizzi, trasparenze e asimmetrie. Non solo, la sua creatività ha trasformato il colore rosso, sinonimo di regalità e passione, in una nuance femminile. Una moda elegante mostrata fino all'ultima passerella del 2007 “Un grande evento che ha celebrato i miei 45 anni di lavoro" - commenta Valentino Garavani - ”un momento magico , sicuramente irripetibile che sarebbe impossibile eguagliare l'emozione e la gioia per l'amicizia e la considerazione che il mondo intero ha voluto esprimermi in questa occasione". Non poteva essere migliore addio alle scene moda.

La nascita del Rosso Valentino

Il rosso è da sempre stato il colore degli imperatori e nel scegliere una precisa sfumatura come simbolo della sua idea di bellezza e femminilità, si tramuta in destino. L'elezione a “Imperatore della moda” è così inevitabile.

Pochi, però, conoscono la storia di come nasce il “ Rosso Valentino ” che non arriva in età matura, bensì l'interesse per questa sfumatura è già presente da ragazzo. È infatti un'anziana signora vestita scarlatta all'Opera di Barcellona, a catturare l'attenzione di un giovane Valentino Garavani. Subito rimane affascinato, catturato da quella punta di rosso che non si può non notare, accendendosi tra il bianco, il blu e il nero della folla.

Sin dall'inaugurazione del suo primo atelier nel 1959, lo stilista fa del rosso l'emblema della casa di moda romana. È la poeta dell'eleganza che prende forma attraverso il virtuosismo dei fiori, la delicatezza del plissé soleil, i ricami realizzati a mano, la leggerezza delle piume, la frivolezza dei fiocchi, il romanticismo del tessuto lavorato a rose, nervature e smerli che definiscono meticolosamente un orlo o una spallina.

Ma il rosso non è l'unico colore ad essere utilizzato da Valentino: più volte il couturier ha dimostrato una particolare passione per il total white , tanto da dedicare una collezione completa nel 1968, mentre dell'avorio abbinato al nero torna nelle collezioni più e più volte per definire con un tratto deciso lo charme che si rinnova e rinasce.

Lo stilista trova consenso anche tra attrici e signore à la page , la stessa Elizabeth Taylor si lascia incantare dalle sue creazioni e, arrivata a Roma, chiede esplicitamente di visitare la sua boutique: sarà l'occasione per farsi confezionare l'iconico abito bianco con bordo di piume che indosserà per la prima di Spartacus . Tra le socialite americane c'è la già citata Jackie Kennedy che sceglie un capo della White collection del 1968 per celebrare le seconde nozze con Aristotle Onassis.

Persino Audrey Hepburn, per i più conosciuta come musa di Givenchy dopo il successo con Colazione da Tiffany (1961), è stata legata a Valentino: ricordiamo l'abito completamente ricamato da perline per il Ballo Proust organizzato dai Conti di Rothschild e lo scatto di Gian Paolo Barbieri per Vogue Italia. Una scelta puntuale che sottolinea l'amicizia di Valentino e Giammetti con il noto fotografo: è proprio lui a raccontare l'eleganza e la raffinatezza con la campagna pubblicitaria del 1967, grazie al suo sguardo cinematografico.

Il gotha delle fashioniste lo conferma, da Sarah Jessica Parker a Julia Roberts (che ritira l'Oscar nel 2001 proprio in un abito vintage Valentino), mentre l'amicizia con il jet set viene presa anche con un pizzico di ironia: ricordiamo il piccolo cameo nel film Il diavolo veste Prada, quando Miranda (Meryl Streep) e Andy (Anne Hathaway) volano a Parigi per la fashion week e, nel backstage, appare proprio lui in persona. E Valentino, che da bambino era un sognatore e ammirava le dive del cinema, ora le veste con amore nel nome della grazia e della bellezza.

Valentino Garavani , nato l’11 maggio 1932, figura di spicco nel mondo della moda, fondatore del marchio VALENTINO, a due passi dal porto di Leuca .

Continua a riservare sorprese l’estate salentina, nonostante siamo al tramonto della stagione, sempre più Vip organizzano una puntata nel nostro Salento .

Questa volta ad essere avvistato è stato il mega yacht di Valentino dal nome Tm Blu Uno, costruito da Picchiotti nel 1988 .

Il super yacht può raggiungere la velocità di 17 nodi, mentre la velocità di crociera è di 12 nodi.

Il suo nome, secondo il sito investigativo Superyacht I Fun , sembra sia un acronimo che sta per Too Much Blue One.

A causa della lunghezza della barca, è lungo 49 metri, lo yacht è in rada a due passi dal porto di Leuca.

A seguito dell’intervento dei Vigili del Fuoco chiamati ad intervenire sul posto proprio dal parroco, era stato inibito l’accesso alla chiesa da piazza Aldo Moro ed erano state poste le distanze di sicurezza dal fronte a pericolo di crollo a salvaguardia dell’incolumità pubblica con la conseguente interdizione del traffico veicolare e pedonale

Al via i lavori di messa in sicurezza del prospetto della chiesa parrocchiale di S. Andrea Apostolo , in piazza Aldo Moro a Novoli .

Dall’alba di oggi, gli operai della ditta Nicolì, di Lequile, stanno procedendo ad impalcare la facciata principale dell’antico tempio che, a fine gennaio scorso, aveva richiesto un intervento ed una valutazione tecnica dei Vigili del Fuoco in quanto era stata evidenziata una duplice lesione di circa due metri e mezzo al timpano “a vela” realizzato in tufo tanto da comprometterne la stabilità.

Sin da subito il parroco, don Stefano Spedicato , insieme al sindaco di Novoli, Marco De Luca , si sono adoperati affinché si ponessero in essere tutte le condizioni necessarie a garantire la sicurezza cercando, per quanto nelle loro possibilità, di limitare al minimo i disagi derivanti dalla restrizione della viabilità veicolare nella piazza interessata. A seguito dell’intervento dei Vigili del Fuoco chiamati ad intervenire sul posto proprio dal parroco, era stato inibito l’accesso alla chiesa da piazza Aldo Moro ed erano state poste le distanze di sicurezza dal fronte a pericolo di crollo a salvaguardia dell’incolumità pubblica con la conseguente interdizione del traffico veicolare e pedonale.

L’attuale intervento in urgenza mira a rendere “sicuro” il sito (chiesa e piazza) e a consentire le attività di indagine e restauro della facciata.

« Da oggi sono in corso i lavori di realizzazione di un sistema di ponteggi e tubi giunto che avvolgono e stabilizzano il timpano a vela – dichiara il primo cittadino Marco De Luca -; tali opere provvisorie sono indispensabili per evitare ulteriori danni al bene tutelato oltre a salvaguardare l’incolumità pubblica e ripristinare la viabilità cittadina, sovvenendo di fatto alle molteplici esigenze degli esercizi commerciali insistenti nella zona circostante.

Nei giorni scorsi, inoltre, mi sono più volte interfacciato con i funzionari della Regione Puglia al fine di intercettare una qualche forma di finanziamento utile a sovvenire alle necessità occorrenti ad una parte degli onerosi lavori che la Curia di Lecce e la comunità parrocchiale sarà chiamata a sostenere per la risoluzione del problema. Si tratta comunque di una evenienza imprevista e complessa che ha richiesto un certo tempo soprattutto nell’adempimento degli obblighi burocratici (redazione del progetto e parere della Sovrintendenza sugli interventi di restauro).

Processi, questi ultimi, a cui un’Amministrazione Pubblica non può assolutamente sottrarsi anche in considerazione del fatto che la pertinenza del problema è di esclusiva competenza dell’Arcidiocesi ».

‘Passi di Legalità – Alle radici di una testimonianza tra esempi di vita e scelte quotidiane’, è un evento organizzato da Fai Cisl di Lecce e il Liceo Scientifico ‘Leonardo Da Vinci’ di Maglie

‘Passi di Legalità’ si terrà martedì 26 marzo 2024, presso il Cinema Multisala Moderno di Maglie , con inizio alle ore 14.00. La manifestazione avrà come destinatari principali gli studenti di tutte le scuole di Maglie (oltre al Liceo Scientifico ‘Da Vinci’, parteciperanno all’iniziativa l’Istituto Comprensivo di Maglie, l’IISS ‘Enrico Mattei’, l’IISS ‘Cezzi De Castro – Moro’, il Liceo Classico Statale ‘Francesca Capece’ e l’IISS ‘Egidio La Noce) e dell’IISS ‘ Salvatore Trinchese ’ di Martano.

Ai saluti istituzionali del Sindaco di Maglie, Ernesto Toma , faranno seguito le introduzioni alla Tavola Rotonda di Ada Chirizzi , Segretario Generale della Cisl di Lecce, Annarita Corrado , Dirigente Scolastica del Liceo Scientifico Statale ‘Leonardo Da Vinci’ di Maglie e Gianluigi Visconti , Segretario Generale della Fai di Lecce, la Federazione Agricola Alimentare Ambientale Industriale Italiana della Cisl salentina.

La tavola rotonda, che prevederà anche il dibattito con gli studenti di Nicola Gratteri e Onofrio Rota, sarà coordinata da Rosario Tornesello , direttore de ‘Il Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia’.

L’evento è un importante passo verso la sensibilizzazione sull’importanza del lavoro onesto e della legalità nel contrasto alle mafie. Per l’occasione, la presentazione del libro di Nicola Gratteri e Antonio Nicaso dal titolo ‘ Il Grifone ’, sulle ramificazioni e sulla pervasività della ‘ ndrangheta e la proiezione del docu-film ‘Scusa Italia ‘, prodotto da Fai-Cisl, Agrilavoro e Fondazione Fai-Cisl Studi e Ricerche, contribuiranno a mostrare le conseguenze dell’attecchimento della criminalità organizzata sul tessuto sociale malato e l’importanza di scelte quotidiane basate sulla legalità.

Allarme bomba alla stazione di Trani, treno Milano-Lecce torna a Barletta

Fatti evacuare pendolari e studenti. Linea ferroviaria bloccata

Dopo il ritrovamento di una valigetta contenente il messaggio che annunciava la presenza di una bomba, è stata fatta evacuare la stazione di Trani.

Tutti gli accessi sono stati chiusi: dalle  6.20 la stazione è stata bloccata da carabinieri e vigili del fuoco.

Il treno proveniente da Milano in direzione Lecce è stato bloccato alle porte della cittadina e poi rispedito a Barletta dove sarà deciso cosa fare.

In attesa dell’evoluzione tutte le corse dei treni diretti o provenienti da Lecce, o comunque di passaggio dalla stazione di Trani, sono state cancellate.

Problemi anche tra pendolari e studenti, chiusa anche la biglietteria dei bus.

Sempre per motivi di sicurezza visto che il messaggio ritrovato nella valigetta faceva riferimento anche ad una non meglio precisata a scuola, oggi rimarranno chiusi tutti gli istituti scolastici di Trani.

Milano è in piena Settimana della Moda e tra eventi, sfilate, mostre e after party , i protagonisti continuano ad essere gli stilisti con le proprie collezioni da sogno. Persone creative, eclettiche, misteriose e potenti, gli stilisti sono spesso soggetti all'ammirazione e venerazione di tanti: vivono in case e palazzi da sogno, come fu per Gianni Versace , o posseggono importanti yacht. Da Armani a Valentino, scopriamo quali sono le loro barche più belle.

Lo yacht di Armani

Non passa inosservato lo yacht di Giorgio Armani . Si chiama Main e misura ben 65 metri di lunghezza per 11,20 metri di larghezza. Realizzato dai cantieri Codecasa di Viareggio e varato nel 2006, lo yacht è made in Italy e considerato fra le imbarcazioni più eleganti al mondo con il suo color verde scuro. Il famoso stilista italiano ha curato i disegni degli esterni, in collaborazione con Fulvio Codecasa , titolare del cantiere, e Armani ha progettato anche gli interni dell'imbarcazione.

L'imbarcazione di Valentino

Tra gli stilisti italiani Valentino Garavani è stato il primo a farsi costruire un lussuoso yacht. Il famoso stilista ha scelto il cantiere Picchiotti di Viareggio per la sua imbarcazione, a cui ha dato il nome di T.M.Blue One . Spesso avvistato nel Mediterraneo d'estate, lo yacht è stato realizzato nel 1988 e a vararlo è stata una madrina d'eccezione, Sofia Loren .

Il nome T.M. Blue One omaggia i genitori di Valentino , la madre Teresa e il padre Mauro. Lo yacht ha una lunghezza di 49 metri e 9 di larghezza. È caratterizzato da un'elegante livrea blu e può ospitare fino a 10 passeggeri a bordo, oltre 9 membri dell’equipaggio. Il TM Blue One continua a battere bandiera italiana .

Le barche di Prada

Patrizio Bertelli e Miuccia Prada hanno una vera e propria passione per le barche, ne posseggono addirittura più di una, tutte a vela, eleganti, capaci di unire tecnologia e amore per lo yachting d’antan. La più grande è Ulisse , che misura 105 piedi (30 metri circa) ed è stata usata anche per una storica regata della Nuova Zelanda. Realizzato dal cantiere Green Marine nel 2000, Ulisse è stato disegnato da German Frers , l’architetto che ha progettato anche Luna Rossa , sempre di proprietà di Patrizio Bertelli.

“Zefira, a magnificent, lean aluminium and carbon 50 metre yacht. A project in which, together with our designers, we put our heart”

Experienced european owners brought together a top team of Dubois, Fitzroy and Tessier to produce their dream yacht: sleek, sophisticated and impressive under sail.

The push for a single level between bridge, saloon and cockpit, combined with ultra-sleek aesthetics, nudged the Dubois design team into new territory. “To get good visibility from the helmstations we had to work hard to lower the accommodation as much as possible, while keeping an open feeling” adds McKeon.

The interior, styled and drawn by Remi Tessier , features a combination of bleached timbers and white leather which results in clean modern lines and provides bright comfortable living areas.

Fitzroy Yachts Zefira

The sea trial was pubblished on Superyacht 31 – spring 2012

Zefira S/Y is one of those few yachts that became an attraction for yacht enthusiasts and professionals  well before she hit the water.

This yacht was designed and built with the experience and passion for sailing boats her owners demonstrated from the start as well as a naval engineering and a project design team from  Ed Dubois studio for the exterior, while Remi Tessier was responsible for all the interiors. Zefira was built in a yard which enjoys a  worldwide  reputation for the construction of large sailing yachts.

With such an opening introduction one can expect nothing less than something absolutely extraordinary, where the term used must be read in its best meaning to underscore something that has really nothing of the ordinary. We had the pleasure of talking with the owners who are currently sailing on their yacht after they had  carried out important work in the design phase with the project team to define specific guidelines and details.

Beyond the highly involving dialogue which ensued with flowing examples  of their own sailing experience and passion, we managed to grasp and better understand the idea behind the project which began with a seven metre sloop and  gradually developed in the course of the following 40 years  of which  many were spent at  sea. Putting words to emotion and feelings is never easy to do and  more so when they are other people’s. In this case however everything was a lot easier for us   thanks to our interviewee’s eloquent communicative capability.

The first point our attention was brought to was that Zefira is the largest sailing y

acht ever designed by Dubois with no fly bridge and built by Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand.  This may strike our readers as a mere detail, but it is in fact one of the principal fundamentals outlining this project because it translates into flowing external lines and a unique profile when observed sideways on.

The choice  of doing without a fly bridge is somewhat unusual since up until  recently a “fly” had been widely accepted as  a run of the mill thing to have on a sailing yacht beyond a given size, but which nevertheless, Zefira is proud to do without giving cause for, among others ,  the following comment volunteered by some of the designers not involved in the project: “The world of sailing now stands  divided between before Zefira and after Zefira”.

Naturally enough this comment in particular is aimed at the yachts’ profile, which brings to a standstill what had become a consolidated practice on yachts this size. Aesthetics is principally  why the owners decided to do without the fly option as well as for practical reasons  they eloquently highlighted: without one  on a  50 metre sailing boat  there’s a complete total view of both what lies ahead up to the horizon and of the sail plan.

Moreover using a higher windswept and sun scorched horizontal plane rather than the main deck itself is by its very nature something destined to be exploited only sporadically and quite correctly in their opinion doesn’t justify having one.

The thought behind the whole project as the requests submitted to both designers and yard indicated,  were to enjoy a pure thorough bred for its performing lines and technical contents, capable of offering the sort of space and commodities expected when cruising extensively in all weather conditions. At a first glance the goal seems to have been easily achieved, but if  we then go into an in-depth analysis, the comments volunteered by project designers earlier seems surely appropriate. The husband and wife team (the owners) followed up on construction work from the initial stages to completion, working through the more important phases in close contact with the professional teams involved.

According to the owners the best part was witnessing the step by step progress of such an enterprise. We can understand the reasons why and genuinely  hope that in  the future such desire will generate the construction of other such extraordinary ships.

Several International prizes for design and technical contents have been awarded to Zefira. Dubois Naval Architects’ studio is proud of the recognitions bestowed since this is the largest sailing yacht project without a “fly” they’ve ever made so far and also for the passion and creativity expressed time and time again by the owners who incidentally had been the previous owners of another Dubois  project built by Alloy Yachts: Kokomo of London (now Nubero Blau). The challenge taken on by the studio was one that meant blending the huge experience acquired by the owners to innovative aesthetics, with a hull capable of delivering the sea-keeping qualities and performance requested.

The owners wished for a boat that could be another home from home: spacious, with a project design that looked ahead into the future. For this reason the design team was invited by the owners to pay them a visit and to take a look at their house to better understand what they wanted.

The choice of the yard was principally dictated by delivery times even if Fitzroy Yachts had been chosen also in function of preceding work carried out from Dubois projects.

Among some of the clever solutions highlighted by the owners in the course of our conversation we wish to mention the ease in steering they experienced and handling the yacht, of course aided by electronics and important data communication systems capable of monitoring and performing many of the required manoeuvres without hindering visibility.

The rig which is capable of carrying up to 3,000 square metres of canvass is per se a very interesting technical achievement inasmuch as it sports a 63.50 metre mast and can still be defined as being “light”. Obviously there’s a carbon fibre mast and boom, as well as fibre stays that have been purposely chosen to reduce weight high above the waterline which translates into less draught and better performance in breezes.

All of the choices adopted for Zefira mean she is very competitive on the race track even against racers and  in spite of the many commodities she carries with her.  As for the interiors and  much of the work put in by  Remi Tessier designer and the co-owner they enhanced an undoubted feeling of both tranquillity and elegance.

Gauged chromatic variety  meets the discerning eye as it takes in lighter and darker shades of handcrafted woodwork placed without ever causing excessive contrast, followed by polished steel elements and ad hoc lighting which enhances relaxation throughout every area. The space chosen to house each piece of furniture, is fruit of  careful study that has contributed into ensuring an uncompromised degree of comfort in the owners’ suite which is situated in the stern and in each of the three guest cabins as well.

One is a twin while the other two are double each one of them sports its own private bathroom. The crew quarters are situated in the bow area and with space for a lounge and crew mess room, which translates into staff’s quality living standards on board. The yacht’s convivial areas are also well distributed and large to ensure adequate privacy to guests and owners alike.

The electronics and navigation aids installed are the most modern on the market, with data and alarm control systems and displays in each of the two external command /control stations  as well as on the bridge deck as can be expected on a state of the art ship such as this. Dictated by reasons of space we have to limit our text to that which has so far been described even when the meeting with Zefira’s owners was so stimulating  we were prompted  to go further.

Ma solo in pochi sono riusciti ad accorgersi della sua presenza in porto, che è durata giusto una mattinata . “ Zefira ”, imbarcazione di 50 metri vincitrice dei prestigiosi riconoscimenti internazionali “Show boats Design Award 2011” e di “World Superyacht Awards 2011” come miglior yacht a vela del mondo per il 2011, è rimasta attraccata presso la banchina Bengasi del molo Cortese di Vibo Marina per poche ore, impegnata in attività di bunkeraggio. Costruita in Nuova Zelanda nei cantieri Fitzroy, ha uno scafo in alluminio e una trave con un raggio di quasi dieci metri.
