Orange Beach Sailing Charters...

was founded by Captain Ryan Rayfield in 2007.  Ryan is a Gulf Coast native who grew up on the Alabama coastal waters around Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama.  His love for the outdoors and being on the water is apparent in everything he does.

Captain Ryan:   When Ryan decided to leave corporate America in 2006, he took with him a vision of becoming the best in the sailing charter business on the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Alabama Gulf Coast. He purchased his sailing yacht three years earlier and took her through a complete upgrade and restoration project.  The nine month endeavor was completed in March 2007 and the Sailob Sailing Charter yacht was launched.

Ryan really cares about quality of life and preserving the lost art of sailing.  You will see him sailing by on his yacht, Sailob most any day you are on the beaches of Alabama.  With the wind in his sails and the sun in his face, you will see him cruising along with satisfied customers of all ages along the Gulf Shores.

Captain Randy:   Growing up on a wheat farm in Kansas may not be the typical starting port for a sailboat captain, but Randy made his way to San Diego after college and instantly fell in love with the wind and water.  Each weekend, he would change his suit and dress shoes for shorts and flip-flops, and trade stop-and-go traffic for tacking and jibing.  Most importantly, turning the dream of living on his sailboat into his new reality.

Thousands of miles later, with experience crossing the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as cruising the Caribbean and the Pacific, Capt. Randy is now at port in Orange Beach, Alabama and living his “bucket list” lifestyle.

You do not need boat insurance when renting with Boatsetter. Coverage is provided under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy, which is underwritten by GEICO Marine Insurance Company. The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Everything needed for a guaranteed good time is provided. That includes, bait, tackle, rods and reels, and fishing licenses, all on the charter of your choice. Our informative and helpful assistants in the charter office will provide departure and return times for your charter. Food and beverages are not provided by the boat. However, our Dock Store does carry drinks and sandwiches along with other snack items.

• Please do not bring glass bottles on your charter!
• Costs not included in the initial charter price are fish cleaning (30 cents per pound), customary deckhand tip (18%-20% of the charter) and a fuel surcharge on certain trips.
• Rubber-soled shoes are beneficial for fishing.
