Six of these pamphlets are 16mo in format, the seventh is 8vo. Five of the items are constitutions and by-laws of these clubs, based in Springfield, Massachusetts. The oldest piece, dated 1902, is a prospectus for the Springfield Canoe Club. The largest item, the second annual charity production of the Springfield Canoe Club Minstrels to help combat tuberculosis, is heavily smoke damaged and in poor condition. The other items are in very good condition. All in printed wrappers.
Crews pull car out of Connecticut River via boat rescue
AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Quite the scene in Agawam on Thursday evening by River Road, as emergency crews were seen pulling a car out of the Connecticut River.
The Agawam Fire Department confirming a SUV was found fully submerged near the Springfield Yacht and Canoe Club just north of the South End Bridge just after 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Several first responders were on scene, and they were able to retrieve the car from the body of water.
No one was found in the car or in the water, but witnesses told Agawam Fire they saw an individual leaving the scene before first responders arrived.
The car was towed out of the water and the incident remains under investigation.
