A Few FAQs...

Based on the published Design Ratios for the Mariner 40, how would you expect the boat to perform under sail?

The Design Ratios indicate that the Mariner 40 is a slow but stable boat that needs a good breeze to get moving. It has a low sail area to displacement ratio, which means it is underpowered in light winds. It also has a high displacement-to-length ratio, which means it is very heavy for its size and has a lot of inertia. However, it also has a high ballast-to-displacement ratio, which means it has a lot of weight in the keel to keep it upright and resist heeling. It has a high comfort ratio, which means it has a smooth and gentle motion in waves and is suitable for long-distance cruising. It has a low capsize screening formula, which means it has a low risk of capsizing in rough seas.

Is the Mariner 40 still in production and, if not, when did production end and how many of these sailboats were built?

The Mariner 40 is no longer in production. Production ended in the early 1970s when Far East Yachts closed down due to the depreciation of the Japanese Yen. The exact number of Mariner 40s built is not known, but some sources estimate that around 95 hulls were built in Japan and another 20 or so were built in California.

What, if any, alternative versions of the Mariner 40 were built and what are the differences between them?

The Mariner 40 was originally built with a wooden hull and deck, but later switched to fibreglass construction with wood overlay on the deck and cabin. The fibreglass hulls were also slightly longer than the wooden ones, measuring 40'4" instead of 39'6".

How many people can sleep on board a Mariner 40?

The Mariner 40 can sleep up to six people in three separate cabins. The forward cabin has a V-berth that can be converted into a double bed with an insert. The main cabin has two settees that can be used as single berths or combined into a double berth with a filler cushion. The aft cabin has two quarter berths that can accommodate one person each.

How did the sailing press review the Mariner 40?

The Mariner 40 received mostly positive reviews from the sailing press when it was first introduced. It was praised for its solid construction, spacious interior, ample storage, comfortable motion and good handling. Some of the drawbacks mentioned were its lack of speed, high fuel consumption, poor ventilation and outdated styling.

What do owners of the Mariner 40 have to say about their boats?

Owners of the Mariner 40 generally love their boats and are proud of their classic appeal. They enjoy cruising in various destinations around the world and appreciate their boats' reliability, durability and livability. They also value the sense of community and support among fellow Mariner owners.

What is the history of the builders of the Mariner 40 and is the company still in business?

The builders of the Mariner 40 were Far East Yachts, founded by Clair Oberly in Yokosuka, Japan in 1957. Oberly was an American naval officer who had a passion for sailing and boat design. He started by building wooden Herreshoff 28s and later expanded to other models such as Sparkman & Stevens 40s and his own designs such as the Mariners. Far East Yachts became one of the leading boat builders in Japan and exported many boats to the US and other countries. However, the company faced financial difficulties in the early 1970s due to the currency exchange rate and the oil crisis. Oberly moved the production to Long Beach, California under the name Clair Yachts, but was unable to revive the business and eventually closed down. Far East Yachts is no longer in business, but some of its moulds were acquired by other companies such as Ta Yang Yachts in Taiwan, which built some Mariner 40s and 36s under the Tayana brand.

What sailplan and rig options, if any, are available for the Mariner 40?

The Mariner 40 is a ketch-rigged boat, which means it has two masts: a main mast and a mizzen mast. The main mast carries a mainsail and a headsail (either a jib or a genoa), while the mizzen mast carries a mizzen sail and sometimes a mizzen staysail. The advantage of a ketch rig is that it offers more flexibility and balance in different wind conditions, as well as more sail area and redundancy in case of damage. The disadvantage is that it adds more weight, complexity and cost to the boat. The Mariner 40 has different sailplan options depending on the year and model of the boat. Some of the variations include different mast heights, boom lengths, sail areas, reefing systems, roller furling devices, etc.

What is the average cost of a secondhand Mariner 40?

The average cost of a secondhand Mariner 40 depends on many factors such as the condition, age, location, equipment and market demand of the boat. Based on some online listings, the price range for a used Mariner 40 can vary from around $50,000 to $100,000.

How does the Mariner 40 compare to other sailboats in its class?

The Mariner 40 is a boat that appeals to sailors who are looking for a classic, sturdy and comfortable cruiser that can handle long passages and rough seas. It is not a boat for speed seekers or racers who want a light and agile performance. Some of the boats that can be considered as similar or comparable to the Mariner 40 are:

  • Westsail 42: A heavy displacement cutter-rigged boat with a long keel and a canoe stern. It has a reputation for being very seaworthy, strong and spacious, but also slow and wet.
  • Tayana 37: A popular bluewater cruiser with a cutter rig and a full keel. It has a traditional design with teak decks and interiors, but also modern amenities and systems. It is known for being well-built, comfortable and capable.
  • Island Packet 38: A quality cruising boat with a cutter rig and a modified full keel. It has a distinctive look with cream-colored hulls and decks, high freeboard and bowsprit. It is praised for being roomy, solid and reliable.
  • Valiant 40: A legendary offshore cruiser with a cutter rig and a modified fin keel. It has a sleek design with low freeboard and reverse transom. It is renowned for being fast, stable and seaworthy.

What other sailboats have been created by the designer of the Mariner 40?

The designer of the Mariner 40 was Clair Oberly, who was also the founder of Far East Yachts. He designed several other models for his company, such as:

  • Mariner 31: A smaller version of the Mariner 40 with similar features and layout.
  • Mariner 35: A wooden-hulled ketch with an aft cockpit and an enclosed pilothouse.
  • Mariner 36: A fiberglass-hulled ketch with an aft cockpit and an open pilothouse.
  • Sparkman & Stevens 40: A wooden-hulled sloop with an aft cockpit and a flush deck.

He also collaborated with other designers such as William Garden, Ted Brewer and Robert Perry on some projects.

Apres-Sail is a very well-kept 40' Mariner Orient sedan trawler.  Built overseas, the Mariner Orient was constructed with a heavy, solid fiberglass hull which provides safe and comfortable long-range cruising. The "Europa" styling features a wide, covered walk-around as well as high gunnels, for safe maneuvering around the deck. The covered cockpit is the perfect place to relax at the end of a long day of cruising, while at anchor, or docked at your favorite marina. The teak interior highlights both the materials used and craftsmanship of this beautiful vessel.

The current owners purchased this vessel in 2009, moved her from Sarasota, FL in 2010, and have thoroughly enjoyed cruising in the US, Canada, and the Bahamas. Having just returned from several years in the waters of the Bahamas, she is turn-key ready for her new owners, and is in very nice condition.

Apres-Sail currently has Canadian owners, and a Flag of Registry in Canada. This vessel is NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE TO US RESIDENTS WHILE IN US WATERS. Proof of non-US citizenship, such as a passport, must be presented to personally inspect this vessel.

The aft covered cockpit of Apres-Sail has a sliding door that provides access to the salon.  The inside helm is forward to starboard, with a door leading to the covered walk-around deck. The galley is on the same level, across from the inside helm. The entire interior of the vessel has a teak and holly sole, in very good condition.

The sleeping accommodations are forward, three steps down. The large head is to starboard, across from the guest stateroom to port. The master stateroom is forward.

2005 Mariner 40 Orient Sedan Trawler Cockpit, Hull

The 7' x 13' covered cockpit of Apres-Sail has a stern door to the fiberglass swim platform, which has a swim ladder. There are molded, forward facing seats with storage and cushions in the cockpit, as well as a hot/cold fresh water shower. The lazarette is accessible from the center deck hatch, which has dual hydraulic pistons. An Engel refrigerator (or freezer) box is located in the lazarette, and conveys with the vessel. The cockpit is large enough for a table and chairs for outside dining. The deck is painted grey non-skid.  Apres-Sail has a full navy blue cockpit enclosure with both eisenglass and screens. Snap-on canvas doors with eisenglass lead to the wide sidewalks. A tan sun shade fits across the stern of the cockpit. A covered stainless steel ladder with teak steps leads to the flybridge, to port. A teak and etched glass sliding door leads into the salon.

The hull of the 40' Mariner Orient is solid fiberglass, with internal grid molding, and an Interlocks barrier coat. The decks are painted light grey awl-grip non-skid. The wide, covered sidewalks with high gunnels provide safe and easy access to the foredeck. The cap rail is stained teak, with a high gloss finish in very good condition. The stanchions are 1.25" stainless steel. There are six 13" stainless steel hawse pipes with cleats. All of the opening portlights are stainless steel.

The foredeck features a bow pulpit with anchor locker, with a natural teak rack over the Simpson Lawrence anchor windlass with foot controls. A natural teak fender board is stored at the bow pulpit. The ground tackle includes: (1) 45# Mantus anchor, (1) FX-23 Fortress anchor, (1) 33# CQR anchor, and 250' of rode with 40' of chain and 210' of line. A hatch from the forward master stateroom opens to the foredeck. A deck wash-down system is at the bow. There is also an extra 40’ chain and 250’ rode plus a coil of another 250’ rode.

The flybridge is reached by a stainless steel ladder, with teak steps, from the cockpit. A hatch covers the steps. The open area of the flybridge features: a lowerable mast, an electric tender hoist with remote, crane storage, fender racks, and a rail mounted propane grill.

The forward area of the flybridge has a full navy blue enclosure with eisenglass, and features: two Todd navigation chairs, built in settees to starboard and port with storage, and a full helm station. There is a free-standing chemical toilet (never used) which conveys with the vessel. A free-standing Whirlpool Stainless Steel refrigerator/freezer conveys with the vessel, which can be used on the flybridge, since there is an available electrical outlet.   The acrylic windshield on the flybridge needs sections replaced.

2005 Mariner 40 Orient Sedan Trawler Accommodation

SALON AND INSIDE HELM

The salon on Apres-Sail is entered from the cockpit through a teak sliding door, with a double palm tree etched window. An integrated magnetic screen door allows for fresh-air ventilation. There are two neutral colored leatherette free-standing chairs, with a small table, to starboard. A large cabinet is to port; it currently provides storage, but is plumbed for a washer/dryer unit. The Insignia Roku TV is atop this cabinet. The L-shaped dinette is to port. The neutral leatherette fabric was replaced in 2012 and is in very good condition; there is storage beneath the cushions. A high/low table with folding leaves is available for dining. The dinette converts to a 4.5' x 6' berth.

The teak and holly sole, which is throughout the entire vessel, is in very good condition. The windows on both sides of the salon slide open, and are equipped with screens. Custom Hunter Douglass silhouette blinds cover the windows. There are teak hand holds overhead.

Access to the engine room is through the sole of the salon.

The inside helm is to starboard forward of a cabinet holding the refrigerator/freezer; the top of the cabinet is perfect for charts, and opens to storage. A liquor/glass cabinet drawer slides out from under the helm seat. The cushion for the helm seat matches the dinette. A foot rest folds up for convenience. A sliding teak door, with a double jumping dolphin etched glass window leads to the starboard deck.

There are three large windows forward which provide good visibility when piloting from the inside helm. The center window opens for ventilation. There are privacy covers for all three windows. The large area beneath the windows is good for additional storage.

The electric panel is on the wall opposite the helm station. The vessel is outfitted with Bose speakers, and the lighting is LED throughout.

The galley on Apres-Sail is to port, forward of the dinette, and has a U-shape design. The side-by-side Nova Kool refrigerator and freezer are to starboard, across from the main galley area, aft of the interior helm seat. The galley features a double stainless steel sink, and good counter space, with a mottled blue easy-to-clean surface. The primary cooking is done on the Cuisinart double burner induction cooktop (with induction cookware included). There is also a West Bend microwave oven and a large Oster toaster oven at eye level on the shelf below the windshield.

Apres-Sail has great galley storage, which includes: a storage cabinet beneath the cooktop with slide-out stainless steel storage racks, cabinets above the sink with louvered doors, deep in-counter storage next to the sink, a cabinet under the sink with a louvered door, a counter-top spice rack, a wall-mounted mug rack, drawers beneath the microwave and oven, and three additional drawers over a louvered cabinet.

MASTER STATEROOM

The companionway on Apres-Sail is down three steps, which feature additional storage, from the galley. The master stateroom is forward. It features a centerline queen berth. The lower two steps on either side of the berth are the same teak and holly as the sole, but the upper step is padded. There are matching cedar-lined, lighted lockers to both starboard and port with louvered doors, as well as built-in storage with sliding doors, and open/book shelves, as well as four drawers under the berth. There are two reading lights, as well as two overhead LED lights. The two curtained portlights open for fresh air. The headboard cabinet provides access to the anchor locker. There is a hatch over the berth that opens to the foredeck.

GUEST STATEROOM

A comfortable guest stateroom is amidships, to port on Apres-Sail. It features a double berth with an open shelf above it for more storage. A cedar-lined lighted locker with a louvered door, drawers under the berth, a wall mounted book rack, and three additional drawers provide even more storage. A Dyson DC44 Animal vacuum is mounted on the wall, which will convey with the vessel. Two curtained opening portlights, as well as two reading lights and two overhead LED lights provide plenty of lighting.

The single head on Apres-Sail is to starboard, across from the guest stateroom. It features an electric head, a mirror, good storage, a large vanity with a stainless steel bowl sink, and a separate stall shower with a seat, two teak storage racks and a custom folding door. There is an access panel to the back of the interior helm, which is protected by a shower curtain. There are two curtained opening portlights for fresh-air and additional ventilation. There is plenty of LED lighting.

All of the teak doors in the interior of Apres-Sail have curved tops and louvered bottoms, which really are a nice decorative feature.

Iuka, Mississippi

Model Pilothouse Sloop

1980 Mariner Pilothouse Sloop The Mariner Yacht Company made some of the best sailing yachts of its time between 1977 and 1983. The quality of these sailing yachts is well displayed in the 38’ Pilot House. This particular 1980 38 Pilot House Sloop named “Hawk” was a well laid out yacht. With a length of 38’ and a beam of 11’6” “Hawk” has a nice size cockpit featuring Pedestal Compass Wheel Steering. When not under sail this 38 Pilot House is powered with a 50 HP Perkins Diesel which will allow her a cruise speed of 6 to 8 MPH. Some of the sailing features of “Hawk” are the 5/8” standing rigging. New Main Sail with three reef points and full bottom sail. It also has roller farling gibes with self-tailing winches. This particular 38 Pilot House appears to be a solid boat but is in need of some TLC. “Hawk” has been priced at the low range of “BUC ValuPro” but due to the health of the owner he will entertain any type of reasonable offer.

Model MARINER

1981 O'Day MARINER This is the proven hull of the Rhodes 19, designed by the famous naval architech Phil Rhodes. The Mariner version was re-designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates and has a self bailing cockpit with a mini cabin that sleeps 4 in a pinch and has a sink and a place for a porta pottie. It has a jumbo cockpit. This boat has a stainless steel mast stepping system that most likely no other Mariner has. This makes it easier to step the 25 foot mast. She is a tall fractional rig.  Knot-a-Clue is self righting, with a heavy cast iron ballast centerboard and internal lead ballast fiberglassed in to the bilge, at the builder. You do not baby this boat, you can sail it hard in heavy weather and be perfectly safe. The best part, is you can pick a different place to sail every time you go out and it is beach-able!

This is a nice blue water cruiser that can be sailed right now. The interior needs some T.L.C. The mast was stepped several inches too far forward from the factory and does not sit directly over the cross member. I installed a compression post for the time being until it can be hauled out and be re-stepped, the back stay shortened and head stay lengthened. It has been that way for 35 years but, when I had the rig tuned the rigger noticed it. After I installed the compression post He finished the job. It is probably stronger the way it is now. To re-step the mast is a $1900 fix at the yard through Atlantic rigging. The new hot water heater needs to be installed but there is currently a loop in the line so you can use the water system. The boat is very roomy and would make a good live-aboard. The head sail and life lines should be replaced. The anchor bit or, Sampson post shows some rot on the back side and should also be replaced or repaired at some point. There is a soft spot in the deck just aft of the Sampson post due to the deck joint at the Sampson post leaking at one point. The quarter berth cushions need to be recovered and the sidewall of the starboard berth needs new veneer. Wires need to be run from the new DC panel to the mast step for the mast lights to work. All else has been wired. The Perkins 4-108 puts out 50hp at 4000rpm. It has over 7000hrs but, runs strong and well. It starts right up. The bottom was redone in May of 2012 with new barrier coat and bottom paint. There is a survey from 2012 as well which is on the boat. I will not be bothered with trying to fax it or email it to everyone who wants to see it. You can look it over if you come to sea trial the boat. You will likely get your own survey anyway. You will find the survey to be consistent with my description. The boat is ready to go but, I would address the life lines, head sail, anchor bit and mast lights prior to any blue water sailing. She can remain in her slip in MD until December 31 for free and at $350 p/m after that until March 31. The boat will be moved to the transient dock on April 1 if not relocated by then. All photos are from 2013 and 2014. I will deliver the vessel for a fee to be determined based on location. This is a Tayana 36.9 for less than $50k that needs not much work. Come on folks, make an offer! This boat is turn key and sound.

1976 O'Day Mariner 2+2, Sleeps four on individual full-length berths. Both are easily trailed; one person can launch her and step the mast. 1984 Brewer 12.8 This 42 Brewer 12.8 is newly renovated and ready to take you on your dream cruise today! In the early 1980’s, a group of 10 or so very knowledgeable yachtsmen whom had been sailing Whitby’s 42 went to Ted Brewer and had the boat redesigned. Rig and Sails

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

  • SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
  • D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
  • LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
  • LOA: Length overall in feet
  • Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)

The earliest version of the MARINER 40 was built of wood in 1965 and then later in fiberglass with wood decks and superstructure. Far East Yachts built the boats, first in Japan (95 hulls) and then in California. Later the molds for the MARINER 40 and MARINER 36 were purchased by another company and construction continued for some years at the Ta-Yang yard in Taiwan.

VESSEL REVIEW | Sinichka – Electric commuter boats designed for Russia’s Moskva River

mariner 40 sailboat for sale

A series of three new electric monohull commuter ferries have already begun operational sailings on the Moskva River in the Russian capital Moscow.

Built by Russian shipyard Emperium, sister vessels Sinichka , Filka , and Presnya – all named after rivers in Moscow – are being operated by the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development (Moscow Deptrans). They are the first units of a planned fleet of 20 vessels that will serve the capital city and other nearby communities. The new ferry system will be the water transport system to be operated on the Moskva River in 16 years.

Each vessel has a welded aluminium hull, an LOA of 21 metres, a beam of 6.2 metres, a draught of only 1.4 metres, a displacement of 40 tonnes, and capacity for 80 passengers plus two crewmembers. Seating is available for 42 passengers on each ferry, and the main cabins are also fitted with USB charging ports, wifi connectivity, tables, toilets, and space for bicycles and scooters. The cabin layout can be rearranged to allow the operator to adjust the distances between the seats and to install armrests of varying widths.

An open upper deck is also accessible to passengers and is the only area on each ferry where smoking is allowed.

The ferries are all of modular construction with each ferry’s wheelhouse, main cabin, and other structural elements being built as complete, separate components. This enables the ferries to be easily dismantled for transport to anywhere in Russia by rail and then quickly re-assembled within seven days.

The ferries are also ice-capable. Recently completed operational trials on the Moskva showed that the vessels can also easily navigate under mild winter conditions with broken surface ice, though year-round operations are planned for the entire fleet.

The ferries are each fitted with 500kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs that supply power to two 134kW motors. This configuration can deliver a maximum speed of 11.8 knots, a cruising speed of just under 10 knots, and a range of 150 kilometres.

Emperium said the transfer of rotation of electric motors to the propeller is carried out by direct drive. As a propulsion installation, a pulling rotary propeller-steering column with double screws is used. The installation of double pulling screws, with similar power, allows an operator to increase the efficiency of the propulsion system to deliver a slightly higher speed or to reduce energy consumption. This arrangement also provides the ferries with enhanced manoeuvrability necessary for navigating in close quarters.

The batteries themselves have projected service lives of 10 to 12 years and are fitted with safety features such as built-in fire extinguishers and gas vents. Quick-disconnect features allow the batteries to be easily removed for replacement or maintenance.

Some of our readers have expressed disquiet at our publication of reviews and articles describing new vessels from Russia. We at Baird Maritime can understand and sympathise with those views. However, despite the behaviour of the country’s leaders, we believe that the maritime world needs to learn of the latest developments in vessel design and construction there.

Looking for apartments for buying in russia.

Choosing the neighborhood of your future residence is a task to be treated with diligence. Poor transport accessibility, a lacking infrastructure and unsatisfactory ecological parameters may noticeably dampen the joy a new property owner is sure to feel from their purchase. To help you avoid such a scenario, we have put together a short overview of the areas in Moscow where you may be considering the purchase of a home , complete with the pros and cons of each of the different locations:

Arbat District – the cultural and business center of Moscow. One of the most prestigious locations in the capital. It boasts a very good infrastructure and high transport accessibility. Unsurprisingly, the property costs here are the highest in Moscow. Despite its small size, the district contains around 10% of all of the capital’s new elite residential buildings, and apartments for sale make up 96% of the properties on the market in this neighborhood. The price of a square meter (3.28 sqft) for an apartment in a new building with penthouses is, on average, 12 000 USD, while the cost of the same in an old building is 9 000 USD. One can even find luxury condos with open terraces for sale in the area.

Kuntsevo District – a beautiful locality surrounded by vast areas of woodland and river beaches on the banks of Moskva River. A strong point of this neighborhood is its good environmental conditions. Brand new and modern residential compounds have been erected here. One square meter (3.28 sqft) of an apartment in a new housing complex in Kuntsevo District currently costs 3 000 USD.

Cozy russian apartment for sale in Moscow

Yakimanka District – one of the most interesting and prestigious areas of Moscow by popular opinion. It is packed full of well-known historic monuments, museums and large parks. The Yakimanka District changed drastically during the Soviet era: most of the centuries-old low-rise houses and mansions were completely demolished or restructured. By the beginning of the 1990’s, new residential and public complexes had already taken their place. Today, one can find condos for sale in Yakimanka’s new residential complexes for the average price of 11 000 USD per square meter (3.28 sqft). The price of a square meter in a Soviet era panel building is 4 000 USD.

Here in Russia’s capital we have our own skyscrapers – grouped together in the compound famously dubbed Moscow-City (the Moscow International Business Center). Many large corporations have their headquarters here. For 1 million US dollars you can purchase a 3-room apartment with a floor area of 607 sqft (185 m²) in one of the towers. This particular listing is located on the 25 th floor.

Where Can I Find Cheap Flats?

If you happen to be a student or if your budget is capped at 300 000 USD and you are looking for cheap condos for sale in Moscow, then the Mitino, Nekrasovka, Cheryomushki, Butovo and Novogireyevo Districts will best suit your needs. These neighborhoods each contain a great number of residential complexes inhabited by Moscow’s middle class. They also have everything one might need for a comfortable life: many schools, kindergartens, big supermarkets, public pools, hospitals, etc. One of Moscow’s Metro stations is also usually just a short walk away. The minimum price of a furnished studio flat in a location within the Moscow Ring Road (a.k.a. MKAD) is currently 100 000 USD.

  3. The Mariner 40 Sailboat
