Each of the handicapped staterooms features: larger size (compared to the non-accessible counterpart), wider doors (width 35 inches / 0,9 m, sitting-level keycard slot), wider turning spaces (5 ft / 1,5 m), ramped thresholds, beds with open bed frames, lowered vanity in the sitting area, amplified phones, captioned TVs, wider bathrooms (door width 35 inches / 0,9 m, roll-in shower, fold-down shower bench, grab rails, lower sinks and closet rods, raised toilets, hand-held shower head, seat height from the floor 0,4 m).

All ADA cabins also feature a convenient location near the elevators.

The ship's gangways are all wide enough for most types of wheelchairs and disability scooters.

All decks provide elevator access.

All passenger lifts have visual, audio and Braille deck indicators.

During an emergency, dedicated crew personnel helps all disabled guests (also those with reduced mobility) to board the ship's lifeboats.

MSC World Europa cabins review

Of all MSC World Europa staterooms (2633 total), around 65% are outside. Most passenger cabins have a double bed (convertible to 2x single beds) plus a convertible couch (double sofabed) to accommodate 3rd/4th person. The number of all cabin categories is 19, including 7 new for MSC types of cabins. Guaranteed cabin categories include YCW-Yacht Club Suite, BW-Balcony, OW-Oceanview, IW-Inside.

• Double beds are not available in categories Interior Studio and Outside Studio.
• Bunk beds are not suitable for kids under 16 yo.
• 3rd and 4th beds are not available in categories Interior Studio, Interior Bella, Oceanview Studio, Promenade View Balcony, MSC Yacht Club Interior Suite.
• 5th and 6th beds are available only in the category Family Suite Aurea.
• Cabin balconies are two types - with a metal balustrade/guardrail, and with a half-glass/half-metal balustrade.

For accommodating more guests (up to 8), the ship offers 3 types of "family cabins", comprising of 2 or 3 modular connecting rooms (and their balconies). These are the categories FPB ("Super Family Plus"), FLA ("Super Family"), and FMB ("Family") balconied staterooms.

For passengers with disabilities, the liner has a total of 65 handicapped/wheelchair-accessible ADA cabins (33x Inside, 24x Balcony, 8x Junior Suite).

World Europa is the first MSC ship to have Promenade View cabins (aft located "interior balcony" cabins overlooking Promenade Deck), Duplex Suites (2-deck accommodations with large terraces, some with an outdoor Jacuzzi), AUREA Suites (with aft-facing wraparound balconies), AUREA Family Suites (larger-sized balcony cabins with a kids bedroom with bunk beds), Infinite Oceanview (French Balcony cabins with down-sliding windows/balustrades opening to a Juliet/false balcony).

• YC4-Royal Suites feature a large balcony (with an outdoor Jacuzzi/whirlpool bath and alfresco dining area with a 6-seat table), separate dining room, living room, bathroom (with spa tub), walk-in closet (wardrobe with shoe rack, luggage storage), 2x HDTVs.

All "Promenade View" staterooms are actually interior-facing cabins with balconies that overlook the Promenade (partially covered by a LED screen interior space lined up with dining and entertainment venues).

Interconnecting “cluster cabins” are specifically designed for large families and family group travel. This new concept allows up to 3 cruise staterooms to be linked together and opened up. Family cabins are in 2 main categories – FAMILY (max occupancy 6 passengers, 2 connecting rooms, 2 baths, 1 balcony) and SUPERFAMILY (max occupancy 6 passengers, 2 connecting rooms, 2 baths /1 with bathtub, 2 balconies).

MSC “BELLA cabins” are in categories I1-Inside, O1-Oceanview, B1-Balcony. Booking Bella-class staterooms additionally offer as extra perks: 20-hour gourmet buffet, organized daily scheduled activities, access to a dedicated swimming pool, modern gym, open-air sports facilities, plus earning MSC Club points for more perks on the next cruise.

MSC “FANTASTICA cabins” are in categories I2-Inside, O2-Oceanview, B2-Balcony, FLA-SuperFamily. ZOE is MSC's (and cruise industry's first) new in-cabin digital assistant. The technology was developed by Harman International (US-based company, a fully-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics).

• ZOE is an artificial intelligence device (voice-enabled, with advanced voice recognition software) available in all passenger staterooms.
• ZOE speaks 7 languages, answer cruise-related questions, provides info on shipboard services-activities-facilities, makes reservations and bookings.
• The digital device features far-field microphones, top-quality speaker, quad-core processor (for fast response times), direct phone connection (through Bluetooth). The system can also upgrade its own database to answer previously unanswerable questions.
• Passenger data (including itinerary/tour and shipboard preferences) is stored in the Cloud Storage system and used on the next scheduled voyage.
• The device (sized ~15 cm) can be activated whenever passengers choose. A waiver must be signed to agree for their personal data to be stored.

Starting with Bellissima (2019), ZOE is available on all newbuild MSC liners and to be introduced fleetwide by the year 2024.

Geneva, Switzerland – May 25, 2022 – An enhanced MSC Yacht Club will be among the new features on board the highly anticipated MSC World Europa when the ship debuts later this year as the first of MSC Cruises’ trailblazing "World Class" ships. The all-new World Class platform boasts future-proof marine and onboard hospitality technologies as well as a ground-breaking and ultramodern design.

The MSC Yacht Club’s innovative “ship within a ship” concept was first introduced in 2008, offering an all-inclusive cruise experience that set a new standard for premium cruising. It offers guests privacy and exclusivity, while still allowing them to enjoy all the facilities a larger ship can offer. Key Highlights of the MSC Yacht Club on MSC World Europa include:

A totally reimagined sundeck –  Guests will have plenty of space spread across two decks to enjoy spectacular sea views from the front of the ship. The lower deck allows them to unwind and sip a glass of champagne from the bar or enjoy a bite to eat from the grill, while the upper deck is home to a private pool and whirlpool where guests can take in the sun from comfortable loungers or one of the stylish private cabanas.

Two brand-new ultra-spacious Owner-Suites – Exclusive to World Class ships, these luxurious multi-room suites total more than 1,600 square feet between indoor areas and the private balcony. The plush accommodations consist of a double bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, a bathroom complete with full-sized imperial bathtub, and a separate living-dining area bathed in light from floor-to-ceiling windows. For the ultimate VIP experience, guests step onto their own spacious balcony with al fresco dining area and whirlpool.

Double-balcony Duplex Suites – Spanning two decks, the Duplex Suites offer a whole floor dedicated to luxurious relaxation with a dining area, lounge and guest bathroom. Heading upstairs, the main bedroom has its own bathroom complete with bathtub. These special duplex suites offer two private sundecks. MSC Cruises will also be launching MSC Seascape in December this year with a 32,000-square-foot MSC Yacht Club set across four decks. Features include:

The private pool area and sun deck spanning more than 21,000 square feet, offering a private pool and panoramic whirlpool with eight seats and individual jets, plus a standard whirlpool.

131 suites (five different types), including the traditional interior, deluxe and royal suites as well as 41 deluxe grand suites with extra space and a walk-in closet. The two Owner’s Suites offer more than 1,000 square feet of space each, along with extended private balconies with whirlpools and outdoor living areas.

From December 2022, MSC Seascape will call at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas, where MSC Yacht Club guests will benefit from privileges ashore including a private beach and the Ocean House, which serves all-inclusive drinks and food.

The first of a brand-new class of ship for MSC Cruises , MSC World Europa can be thought of as a blend of the best features from the company's past ships, coupled with an entirely new array of bar, lounge, entertainment and restaurant options that are sure to please international families and couples looking for a break from the everyday.

The precursor to sister-ship MSC World America , which will debut in the U.S. in 2025, MSC World Europa gets a lot of things right. Gone is the over-reliance on reflective materials like mirrors that characterized past MSC Cruises ships, replaced instead with a look that is a bit more modern and toned down -- think more wood accents and soft wall treatments as opposed to mirrors-and-marble. Even the line's signature Swarovski-inlaid staircases have been pared down here compared with past ships, removed from the ship's main atrium and instead only present in the exclusive MSC Yacht Club Lounge.

That's cut down on the overall noise level on the ship, which seems to be more manageable here than on past MSC ships (all those mirrors really amplified sound). But make no mistake: this is a thoroughly MSC ship through and through, with plenty of bold colors, wave-like architectural accents and unique styling that is characteristically MSC.

The result: a ship that is bold, fun and fresh -- but which curiously never feels overcrowded, despite its hefty 6,000-plus passenger capacity. And perhaps that's the best feature MSC worked into MSC World Europa: large expanses of open deck space, coupled with clever little hideaways tucked outside select restaurants and bars for dining al fresco.

Other niceties include the ship's environmental features, which advance MSC's goal of becoming a net-zero emitter by 2050. To that end, MSC World Europa is powered by cleaner-burning Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technology and is equipped with shore power to allow it to switch off its engines while in select ports, in addition to a host of other technological advances.

On our sailing, the ship's only real con was an elevator system that was sometimes slow to respond, with the "Call to Car" system -- by which you press your desired floor on a touchscreen and are then directed to a lettered elevator car -- taking a long time to respond, particularly in port when forward and midship gangways were both in use.

Other quirks that may annoy passengers are public restroom facilities that are outrageously tiny for a vessel of this size, and additional costs that, like any big mainstream ship, can really start to add up.

MSC World Europa Deck Plan Includes Brand-New Features

MSC World Europa includes plenty of past-passenger favorites, but it is also home to a surprising array of new bars, lounges, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

New culinary additions include the Chef's Garden Kitchen , which is based around refined cuisine garnished with microgreens grown right onboard MSC World Europa. Besides offering a modern and intimate venue, it also provided one of the best meals we've had aboard any ship.

Another new addition, La Pescaderia , functions as an upscale seagoing fish market and restaurant where the best of the ocean is on the menu. It's situated in a prime location alongside the outdoor World Promenade, and even offers a grab-and-go menu of specialties like fish and chips for those who don't have time for the full culinary experience.

Gin lovers will find it hard to tear themselves away from The Gin Project , a new 87-seat bar themed after a real distillery that serves up all manner of cocktails centered around the G&Ts of the world. What's more, passengers can descend a metal spiral staircase into MSC's classic Masters of the Sea pub -- where, aboard MSC World Europa, a selection of brews are crafted right onboard.

Keeping in that vein, Elixr is a clubby enclave that offers both indoor and outdoor seating, along with some of the most unique craft cocktails we've tried at sea, while the new Malt Lounge is dedicated to the cigar-and-cognac set and has the plush high-armed leather chairs to prove it.

Perhaps the most interesting addition to MSC World Europa is the Raj Polo Tea House, which offers dozens of different kinds of teas -- both hot and cold -- along with tea-infused cocktails in a setting that recalls the colonial settings of days gone by. Soft live piano music is played here by afternoon, and it's worth a pop-in just for the delicious cookies on offer.

And, since MSC World Europa is a thoroughly European ship, it's not difficult to find a good cup of coffee. In fact, there are two separate coffee bars onboard -- the Coffee Emporium on Deck 8, and Jean-Philippe Chocolat and Café on Deck 6 that pairs exceptional brews with high-end chocolate. It's a good thing the beverage packages offered onboard don't work at this venue; we'd be five hundred pounds heavier if they did.

Other new and notable features aboard MSC World Europa include a surf-themed outdoor bar; a causal burger and pizza joint that's open around-the-clock; an MSC Sportplex that offers everything from sports tournaments to bumper cars; and an 11-deck high dry slide known as Venom Drop @ The Spiral.

The MSC Yacht Club Aboard MSC World Europa Is The Line's Best Yet

Since being introduced in 2008 aboard MSC Fantasia, the MSC Yacht Club -- MSC's luxury ship-within-a-ship concept -- has gone through a number of iterations. The line has slowly refined its design with each successive ship, culminating in the relaxing and upscale spaces and accommodations found aboard MSC World Europa.

Like MSC Seaside and its sister-ships, the MSC Yacht Club aboard MSC World Europa is anchored by a two-level signature space that combines the MSC Yacht Club Lounge on the lower level, and the Yacht Club Restaurant on the upper level. Both venues overlook a forward-facing wall of glass that offers expansive views over the ship's bow, along with a dedicated outdoor viewing deck.

But MSC World Europa kicks things up another notch, offering the line's most lavish suites yet, along with a dedicated Yacht Club Pool and Sun Deck that features al fresco dining, an outdoor bar, private seating and loungers -- including private cabanas for top-of-the-line suites -- coupled with the kind of gracious, attentive service you'd expect from a cruise costing four times as much.

If you're looking for a luxurious experience without sacrificing any of the big ship bells and whistles, MSC's Yacht Club will leave you spoiled.

Cabins on MSC World Europa Offer Something for Every Budget

A lavish suite isn't necessary to enjoy your time aboard MSC World Europa. The ship offers numerous cabins to choose from, ranging from economical inside staterooms to spacious Aurea Suite balcony cabins.

New aboard MSC World Europa are balcony cabins that overlook the outdoor World Promenade running along the centerline of the aft part of the ship. These inward-facing cabins have views of the ship's interior promenade instead of ocean views, allowing passengers to get up close to the action, and take in the amazing light shows performed here on most evenings.

But whether you choose an inside room, one with a balcony or even a suite, MSC has raised the bar on its cabin design. Mattresses are noticeably more comfortable than in past, and stateroom bathrooms -- always well designed on past ships -- seem to have been tweaked further here to offer more shower space and better countertop design. Kudos, too, for MSC's reliance on pump soap in its signature fragrance as opposed to weird little bars of soap.

Passengers in all categories will find things like in-room safes, a decent (if somewhat cramped at the lower accommodation levels) amount of storage space, and North American, European and powered USB outlets. Each cabin comes equipped with an interactive television set, but sadly few channels are in English, and movies on demand are pay-per-view.

MSC World Europa Has 16 Different Dining Options Onboard

Let's get it out there: you're never going to go hungry aboard MSC World Europa. From casual burger and fry joints to upscale dining curated to please sophisticated palates, MSC World Europa has 14 different dining options to fit the bill -- 16 if you count room service.

Four main restaurants offer dinner each evening, with one typically serving up breakfast and lunch on sea days (most are open only for dinner while in port, unless otherwise noted). Each has its own unique style and décor, while one restaurant -- Les Dunes on Deck 8 forward -- is set aside exclusively for passengers booking MSC's Aurea dining experience.

Casual bites can be had at the two buffet restaurants that are stacked one atop the other, Il Mercato on Deck 18 and La Brasserie on Deck 19. Both offer indoor and outdoor seating and a wide array of delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Grab and go burgers and pizza are available around-the-clock in the arcade-style diner on Deck 6 forward, while much of Decks 7 and 8 are given away to the ship's extra-charge specialty restaurants. And you really should dine in at least one of these before the voyage is out: from the classic American steakhouse known as The Butcher's Cut to Hola! Tacos and Cantina to the wacky Teppanyaki fun at Kaito, there is something aboard MSC World Europa to suit every taste.

And, while it's not considered a dining venue per se, the Deck 7 pub, Masters of the Sea, has a host of pub favorites including fish and chips and bangers and mash available for order for a small fee.

Psst! MSC World Europa Has a Secret Speakeasy!

We aren't going to tell you where it is, or how you gain access, but there's an incredible Speakeasy Bar hidden onboard MSC World Europa. It's not listed on deck plans and isn't passenger-accessible without an invitation, but the experience -- which includes custom-designed craft cocktails presented with incredible flair, set to live 1940's-esque musical stylings featuring live performers in a space that's somewhere between transatlantic cargo hold and World War II bunker -- is out of this world. That someone greenlit this superb space continues to boggle our minds -- in the best way.

Expect to hear a wide array of languages onboard, spoken by people from all walks of life. Some are new-to-cruise, while others are experienced cruisers from both sides of the Atlantic who are drawn to MSC primarily because of its unique itineraries and lavish MSC Yacht Club options.

Families are well catered-to aboard MSC World Europa, which has one of the largest kid's club areas in the fleet onboard, ensuring little ones, kids and teenagers are well looked after. Indeed, everything about the ship speaks to its family-friendly nature, from the availability of high chairs in even specialty restaurants, to its fun pool deck diversions and thrilling games arcade, SportPlex, and Venom Drop dry slide.

Couples will also find much to like about MSC World Europa, which can be surprisingly quiet and romantic in certain spots, despite its hefty passenger capacity. Evenings out on deck overlooking the stern from the World Promenade are quiet and intimate, while the ship's specialty restaurants offer unique experiences that couples looking to get away will enjoy.

MSC also does an excellent job at welcoming LGBTQ+ cruisers, with informal gathering events on most sailings, and a crew that are gracious and friendly to people of all orientations. Passengers are generally well-educated, with most passengers running between 40 to 65 years of age on our Middle East voyage.

Despite its international origins, English is widely spoken by all crewmembers onboard, and many passengers. North American cruisers, however, may need some time to get used to the number of smoking areas onboard: most outdoor spaces have at least one smoking area, while the Malt Lounge is the only indoor/outdoor space where smoking is allowed (it is part cigar bar, after all).

The Chef’s Garden Kitchen’s promises fresh and seasonal flavours, taking its cues from nature. Born in Sweden, the son of a produce seller, Niklas Ekstedt began his strong connection with nature and the Earth’s flavours at a young age. Modernising cuisine with art not technology, Ekstedt combines traditional Nordic cooking and preserving techniques with astonishingly creative combinations of rigorously fresh seasonal ingredients.

Everything you need to know about MSC Cruises cabins and suites

A relative newcomer in the North American market, MSC Cruises is equal parts elegant and kitschy. The line tends to appeal to a wide swath of cruisers, from Europeans who like to party into the wee hours of the morning to American families who book because of affordable fares and "kids sail free" pricing.

To satisfy its diverse passenger base, MSC offers accommodations to fit all types of travelers. Rooms include inexpensive inside cabins that sleep two people, midlevel staterooms with windows and balconies, and high-end suites that offer cruisers with larger budgets a private oasis in the form of the MSC Yacht Club .

A variety of connecting rooms and cabins with extra bunks accommodate larger groups and families who wish to share space.

Because your cruise cabin will be your home away from home for several days, it's important to book one that fits your needs. That's especially true if you're sharing it with several people.

Whether you're looking at an inside cabin for a cruise with friends, balcony accommodations for you and your significant other or a suite for your family, here TPG breaks down what you can expect when you book a room on one of MSC's ships.

MSC Cruises cabin primer

MSC Cruises has become one of the fastest-growing lines in the cruise industry, with about two dozen ships in its fleet. The vessels fall into six classes : Lirica, Musica, Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World.

Although cabin offerings can vary from ship to ship and class to class, the standard types remain the same: inside, outside, balcony and suite.

Additionally, you'll find the same basic amenities in each room, unless otherwise noted below. They include two twin beds that can be joined to form a queen- or king-size bed; an in-cabin bathroom with a shower, a sink, a toilet and basic soap, shower gel and shampoo; a couple of nightstands; a chair or sofa; a desk/vanity; a closet; a safe; a hair dryer; a minifridge; a phone; USB outlets and a selection of both North American and European outlets.

On all ships except MSC Lirica, MSC Opera, MSC Sinfonia and MSC Armonia, you'll also find an interactive TV that allows you to view the daily schedule, check your onboard account and choose from a selection of live TV programs and movies.

Twice-daily room tidying is provided by a room steward assigned to each cabin, and room service is available throughout the day for an added fee.

One confusing aspect of MSC's bookings is that you'll have to select an experience package in addition to a cabin type. Package tiers determine things like your ability to choose a specific cabin and preferred dining time and whether you'll receive welcome amenities in your room. Certain cabin types are only available in conjunction with certain package experiences and vice versa. Those are noted in each respective section below.

Accessible cabins , including accommodations for wheelchair users, are available on every ship in MSC's fleet. In addition to more space, they feature wider doorways and lowered sinks and toilets in the bathrooms, as well as grab bars.

Inside cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Inside cabins — rooms with no windows — are available on all ships in the MSC fleet. Ranging from 140 to 301 square feet (depending on the ship), they make for great sleeping because they're so dark. They're also ideal for passengers who are on a budget.

In addition to the standard amenities mentioned above, they provide room for anywhere from two to four passengers to sleep. (Rooms that sleep more than two feature bunks that pull down from the ceiling.)

These cabins are available with the line's Bella and Fantastica experiences.

If you're sailing solo, some MSC vessels offer cabins for one outfitted with a twin bed that converts into a couch. These interior studio accommodations are only available with the Bella package on MSC Meraviglia , MSC Bellissima and the line's World Class ships.

Ocean-view cabins on MSC Cruises ships

Ocean-view rooms are similar to insides in that they provide basic amenities — but with a view.

Offering 129 to 269 square feet of space (depending on the specific ship and ocean-view category), these staterooms allow you to see outside through a porthole or a window that doesn't open.

MSC's outside cabins are available to passengers who book Bella and Fantastica packages.

Additionally, if you're traveling with your family or another group, several of MSC Cruises' ships — particularly those in the Meraviglia and Seaside classes — feature space for as many as 10 passengers via a series of connecting rooms. Options are available at the ocean-view and balcony levels.

Balcony cabins on MSC Cruises ships

You might be surprised to discover that most of MSC Cruises' balcony cabins provide less interior square footage than what's available in inside or ocean-view staterooms.

Balcony rooms run anywhere from 129 to 205 square feet, but their key feature is, of course, a private balcony, which does add an extra 32 to 129 square feet, depending on the vessel and specific type of balcony room booked. These cabins are bookable in conjunction with MSC's Bella, Fantastica and Aurea experiences.

Although balcony cabins offer upgraded amenities, including MSC's brand of hand lotion and toiletries, they are largely the same as inside and ocean-view accommodations.

MSC's newest ships — including those in the Meraviglia, Seaside and World Classes — house connecting balcony rooms that can sleep up to 10 in the same group traveling together.

Additionally, on its World Class ships, the line has introduced inward-facing balconies, similar to the ones Royal Caribbean pioneered in 2009 with the debut of its Oasis Class vessels . On World Europa, for example, they overlook the ship's promenade, offering views of the activity below, rather than the ocean.

MSC Cruises suites

All ships in MSC's fleet have suites that can be booked as part of the Fantastica and Aurea packages, but it's Aurea that offers the largest number of perks, as outlined above.

The several types of suites vary by ship in terms of size and amenities. Some come with balconies, while others only offer floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

Junior Suites

Although this room type is listed as a suite, it's essentially a balcony cabin with a bit more space — 183 square feet of interior accommodation with a balcony that ranges from 140 to 183 square feet.

Standard suites include rooms with huge balconies larger than the cabin's interior space and ones with private whirlpool tubs. They run from 269 to 355 square feet, with balconies measuring 32 to 409 square feet.

Grand Suites

Coming in between 377 and 420 square feet, with balconies spanning from 32 to 495 square feet, Grand Suites — found on Seaside and World Class ships — come in two types. They include standard one-bedroom Grand Suites, as well as two-bedroom varieties.

The latter has one bedroom with a queen-size bed and another with two twins. It sleeps up to five passengers and offers two bathrooms — one with a shower and the other with a bathtub.

While most suites are designed for double occupancy, some suite accommodations on MSC Bellissima, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Virtuosa and MSC Magnifica can sleep up to five people.

MSC Yacht Club suites on MSC ships

All cabins located in the MSC Yacht Club — an exclusive, gated area on select ships — are called suites, even the smallest and least expensive, which don't have windows or balconies.

Yacht Club suite types range from insides to two-deck duplexes, all of which come with butler and concierge services, luxuriously appointed furnishings (such as real marble finishes, memory foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets) and access to members-only restaurants, bars (alcohol is free there), lounges, pools and sun decks.

The Yacht Club features seven different types of rooms. Ships that have the MSC Yacht Club on board include MSC Bellissima, MSC Divina, MSC Fantasia, MSC Grandiosa, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Preziosa, MSC Seaside, MSC Seascape, MSC Seaview, MSC Seashore, MSC Splendida, MSC Virtuosa and MSC World Europa.

Note: Not all Yacht Clubs have the same suite types available.

MSC Yacht Club Interior Suites

Although these 161- to 226-square-foot cabins don't offer a view or fresh air, they are elegantly decorated and include all the Yacht Club benefits mentioned above.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Suites

These Yacht Club digs are the equivalent of a balcony cabin — but in a dedicated area that includes all the exclusive perks. They run 236 to 366 square feet and have balconies ranging from 54 to 86 square feet, so they also come with a bit more space, both inside and outdoors.

MSC Yacht Club Deluxe Grand Suites

Similarly, Deluxe Grand Suites are like the Yacht Club equivalent of booking a Grand Suite with more perks. Depending on the ship, they offer anywhere from 269 to 463 square feet of space, plus 65- to 129-square-foot balconies. Some Grand Suites also have two bedrooms instead of one. Further, these rooms on Seaside Class ships include bathrooms with bathtubs, as well as separate living areas.

MSC Yacht Club Duplex Suites

Rising two decks, MSC's duplex staterooms measure 495 to 635 square feet and come with 65- to 334-square-foot balconies. They feature living rooms with two-person sofa beds downstairs and master bedrooms upstairs, which also sleep two passengers.

Each of these accommodations comes complete with two walk-in closets and two bathrooms — one with a bathtub and one with a shower. Most duplexes on Meraviglia and World Class ships also have their own private whirlpool tubs.

MSC Yacht Club Executive and Family Suites

The line's Executive and Family Suites, available only on Fantasia Class vessels, are an excellent choice for anyone who wants to stay in the Yacht Club with a family or other group of more than two people.

This option, which is one type of suite (despite its confusing name), has space for up to five cruisers via a combination of bunk beds, sofa beds and beds that pull down from the ceiling, depending on the ship. The suites clock in at around 431 to 549 square feet, depending on the vessel.

The only drawback is that these staterooms have no balconies and no in-room dining areas, but they do include all the perks you'd find in Yacht Club cabins.

MSC Yacht Club Royal Suites

Although they only occupy one level, at 388 to 667 square feet, MSC's Yacht Club Royal Suites are right up there with the Duplex Suites in terms of space. They offer the second-largest amount of square footage after the Owner's Suites. They come with huge balconies comprising 355 to 753 square feet of outdoor area.

Additionally, bathrooms in these suites offer bathtubs on Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside and World Class ships, and the latter three have private whirlpool tubs, as well. All four classes' Royal Suites also include separate living room areas.

MSC Yacht Club Owner's Suites

The largest and most impressive of all MSC's cabins are the Owner's Suites found in the Yacht Club. Offering an impressive 840 to 1,119 square feet — larger than some land-based apartments — plus 269- to 670-square-foot balconies, they're some of the most luxurious rooms afloat.

Specific amenities vary by ship, but as an example, Owner's Suites on MSC World Europa offer floor-to-ceiling windows and walk-in closets. These accommodations on both the line's Seaside and World Class vessels also feature bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs, as well as private whirlpool tubs and separate living room areas.

Bottom line

Although MSC Cruises' cabin types are straightforward, the line's add-on experiences can complicate things a bit.

Overall, what's key to remember is that MSC Cruises offers a wide variety of rooms and pricing to meet just about any budget or style of cruising. Each ship will offer accommodation choices from the least expensive, bare-bones interior rooms to the priciest suites, which come with butler and concierge services.
