Yachting in Sardinia is aimed at tourists who want to live a sustainable travel experience, aware of preserving the terrestrial and marine environment. It is, in fact, the alternative to the overbuilding that increasingly covers our coasts, also allowing us to reach those hidden corners of the coast, not reachable by land, but of great charm, while at the same time preserving their value. In 2018, after twenty years of activity in the charter sector, having had the vision of what could have been the growth prospects of the Eco-sustainable Nautical Tourism sector, the company decided to change gear and starting from the choice of a certifying body expert in the tourist accommodation sector (and not nautical) such as CSQA, revolutionizing its processes in an integral way and completely redesigning the operational model of the activity. It is also the first Nautical Hotel accommodation facility in the world to also have ISO 9001 certification.

The company today offers its customers the opportunity to find the right offer for their holiday by directly visiting the Yachting in Sardinia website where 8 different offers are available every day, valid only for 24 hours, for a fleet of boats that are completely similar. and throughout to floating and completely eco-sustainable housing units, equipped with all comforts and divided into categories (exclusive, comfort and standard). The customer on board receives 24-hour assistance, also thanks to the SeaTutor monitoring system, and can count on a dedicated Service Operator, ready to respond to any needs of the guest crew, giving the customer the opportunity to experience the sea in total safety.

Group Y has been investing for years in the technical set-up of its boats: from the massive use of photovoltaics, to the elimination of endothermic generators, from the use of double alternators combined with automotive-derived battery packs, to the use of watermakers, from use of purifiers, up to the revolutionary "zero" impact underwater protective coating: the SeaProtector, which replaces traditional antifouling, not only improving the performance of the hull by reducing fuel consumption, but, being totally free of biocides toxic, avoid releasing any type of harmful substance into the water.

With a name almost as flamboyant as its pastel coloured medieval buildings, the capital of Sardinia is a beautiful and stylish starting point for a Sardinian sailing holiday. Occupied for millennia by different empires, it has architectural relics dating back to Roman times - indeed you can still enjoy a concert at the Roman ampitheatre today.

For a fix of Sardo culture you should visit the Castello district with its fort, churches and museums that detail the long and distinguished history of the city. Though there aren't marinas there the Marina district, originally set up as a fortified area for warehouses and the workings of the port, is also a must do.

As to the beaches and nightlife? These are world-class too, and an important part of your Cagliari sailing charter holiday before or after you leave to explore southern Sardinia on your sailing holiday!

Explore Cagliari By Renting A Yacht

Southern Sardinia is less well known than the Costa Smeralda at the northern end of Sardinia but is no less interesting and good for a break from the real world on your yacht charter vacation.

Expect to find a quiet lagoon, to relax on a beautiful beach, and to gorge on excellent Mediterranean cuisine. Outside of Cagliari itself you won't find boutiques like that in the superyacht destination of Marina di Portisco on the Costa Smeralda. You will find villages and islands with hardly any residents, astounding coastline and some of the best sailing on the Mediterranean.

Towns like Villasimius and Carloforte are unpretentious Sardinian towns that are relaxed yet stylish destinations on your Cagliari yacht charter, and will go down in memory for years to come as some of the nicest places you have been to in your sailing career. Toward the northern reach of a week long Cagliari sailing charter, you will find Stagno di Feraxi that now has a beautiful beach but was once an important Roman town.

So what are you waiting for? Book your boat rental with Borrow a Boat today to start your Cagliari yacht charter and visit a part of Sardinia that others never get to enjoy!

Suggested Sailing Routes From Cagliari

Whether on a sailing boat or motor boat on a bareboat charter or crewed luxury yacht charter you can explore southern Sardinia out on your Cagliari yacht charter. Let's look at what such an itinerary will involve.

7 Days - SE Sardinia: Sailing out of Cagliari you head east to Sant Elena for your first night. After a night tasting the excellent food and wine, you aim for Villasimius for the next evening and chill out on some of the best sandy beaches in Sardinia. If nightlife is your thing then you will have lots of fun in the peak season of July and August! Porto Corallo will be your next destination - the famous tower built by the Spanish is very popular. From Arbatax, your next stop, wander up the coast to the national park of Bellavista Parco Naturalistico e Faunistico. Staying out of the way, Villagio Colostrai will be your next landfall - remember to stock up on food for a couple of days at Arbatax as you won't find any here. A quiet island - Isola dei Cavoli - is another place the world has forgotten, albeit with ferries from Vallasimius taking day trippers there! Cagliari is the next and final port of call. Do try to spend the day here before flying home - you won't regret it!

14 days - Corsica and Sardinia: Your first day at sea will be a short hop east to Villasimius for a relaxing night before a long leg - 40 or so NM - to Olbia, the gaeway to the Emerald Coast. The party town of Porto Cervo will be your next night and day ashore, before heading north again to Maddalena Island for a break from the wild fun. Across the strait to Corsica and to the west coast port town of Propriano and then Ajaccio for another day ashore. South to the protected Sardinian island of Asinara - take a day ashore to enjoy this beautiful place. Alghero on the west coast of Sardinia will be your next evening ashore, and then take a night at anchor in the Gulf of Oristano and spend time ashore looking at the Stagno de Cabras, one of the largest saltwater lagoons in the region. Your 12th night will be in Carloforte, a fishing port on San Pietro Island, and then final night aboard before handover will be in Porto Pino, a stunning beach resort on the south coast.

Best Times To Hire A Yacht In Cagliari

The sailing season in Italy is from May to October. Outside of the high season in July/August you will find many marinas have enough room to meet demand and will often be cheaper than Greece or Croatia.

In some parts of Italy's sailing meccas the prices rocket in July/August and you may end up paying hundreds of Euros for the last available berth if you're lucky enough to get one!

As such the best times to sail in Italy are during school term in September or October when the sea is still warm but the marinas and towns relaxed and quiet. If you want Italy at full throttle in the maximum heat of summer the high season may well be for you!

The Climate

Much of the sailing season you will find sea breezes that build during the day and ease off at night, making for a perfect sailing holiday.

The hot, humid southerly Scirocco can make things extremely uncomfortable at night in southern Italy and around Sicily from time to time. Expect temperatures to hardly dip at night from the high 30s in the day. Orange hued fog (coloured by Sahara Desert sand) is another issue, adding to the discomfort!

In July and August however, many of the winds seem to take a rest for the year. You could end up motoring for much of your sailing holiday!

What should I consider when hiring a Yacht or Boat?

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

What are the Marinas in Cagliari?

There are five marinas in Cagliari itself and a number closeby. Marina di Bonaria has 300 berths reserved for the Lega Navale. Marina del Sole has 220 berths. Marina di Sant' Elmo, 200, and the two superyacht marinas are Port Karalis and Motomar Sarda that have 140 berths and 108 berths respectively.

When are the best times to hire a boat in Cagliari?

While the sailing season runs from April to October in Sardinia, it can get very busy and hot at the peak times of July and August with the marinas often very full and expensive. As such if you can get on a sailing vacation outside the school holidays, perhaps in May or September the sailing conditions are better and the crowds are less intense.

Do you have to pay a deposit when hiring a Yacht in Cagliari?

You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the yacht hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

What happens if my Yacht breaks down?

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.

What should I think of before I hire a Yacht or Boat in Cagliari?

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat hire before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Dress for warm weather but do have something for tropical rains - light but waterproof.

What Qualifications Do I need to hire a boat or yacht?

If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a crewed yacht charter you typically don't require licences.

We are confident that our prices are the most competitive and transparent in the market.

We won't charge any booking fees when you make a booking with us.

We have the highest number of verified and vetted boats available on the market.

The vibrant and fun cagliari is the capital of the island of sardinia. since the city is relatively out of tourist routes and can be reached from the sea, it is a great alternative stop of a luxury yacht cruise of the island. its exotic landscape of small houses and golden buildings has always attracted visitors..

Cagliari is full of surprises. Sailing is the best way to enjoy this city that does not often feature in more mainstream holiday tours. Reach the coast on your luxury charter of Sardinia to admire its nearly-exotic appearance.

It is also a cultured and joyful destination with an ample choice of trendy clubs lining the waterfront. For many, Cagliari is the first stop of a cruise of Sardinia ’s beautiful sites – including Costa Smeralda , countless charming beaches , and the archipelagos off the northern coastline .

Among Cagliari’s many lovely beaches choose Spiaggia del Poetto, dominated by the promontory of Sella del Diavolo, Capo Malfatano, and the bays of Tuerredda (with a tiny islet you can swim to) and Pira, whose stretch of soft white sand is a favorite of pleasure cruisers, along with Cala Cipolla. Scuba divers love the sea that is part of a marine nature reserve packed with interesting underwater landscapes.

A Tyrrhenian Sea yacht charter around this island can happily balance partying in hotspots like Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda with an escape to secluded islands and jaw-dropping marine parks in places such as the Maddalena archipelago.

Sardinia yacht season and weather

Sardinia is hot and dry from May to October with the island enjoying an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Peak charter months are July and August, though June is also an excellent time to charter. August is particularly busy as most Italians take their holidays during this month.

Most rain falls between October and February, giving much of Sardinia a lush and verdant character. Visitors may well experience balmy summer days in March and April, though evenings will be cool during this time of year. The prevailing wind is north westerly, which can be particularly significant on the Strait of Bonifacio at the north of the island.

Sardinia superyacht charter itineraries

Historic Cagliari crowns Sardinia’s southern edge, and a litter of pretty coves and tiny villages then await. With vineyards inland and towns steeped in history, it is a region rich in cultural and gastronomic offerings. Yachts up to 55 metres LOA can drop anchor at Marina di Cagliari.

To the north, the superyacht haven of Porto Cervo is the central hub for the yachting elite that descend on Sardinia’s glittering Costa Smeralda each summer. Home to some of Europe’s most expensive residences and exclusive resorts, including the iconic Cala di Volpe hotel, Porto Cervo pulsates during the summer season and its bars and restaurants promise a great night ashore.

The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is based in Porto Cervo and organises a packed yacht racing season throughout the summer. Highlights of the Mediterranean cruising calendar in Sardinia include the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, the Maxi Rolex Cup and Rolex Swan Cup – all lively events for sailing enthusiasts in Porto Cervo to get involved with. Yachts up to 120 metres can berth at the IGY marina in Port Cervo.

South of Porto Cervo, the resort village of Porto Rotondo’s turquoise waters, pristine beaches and charming piazzas will prove irresistible, and the port here has 25 berths for megayachts. Cruise 20 nautical miles and dock at Marina di Olbia (for yachts up to 80 metres) to discover the city’s café-lined squares. Further south explore the caves near Cala Luna, where the peaks of Gennargentu National Park provide a dramatic backdrop and the snorkelling is excellent. Nearby Cala Goloritzé is another natural wonder.

From the northern coast of the main island cruise about 10 nautical miles offshore toward the spectacular archipelago of La Maddalena. While away long, languid sunny days around Caprera, Spargi, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Budelli and Razzoli, and discover some of Sardinia’s best beaches and the island’s breathtaking lagoons. On Isola Maddalena, Cala Gavetta marina can host yachts up to 60 metres LOA, as can the marina of the Hotel Excelsior. On Capera, Porto Palma can accommodate yachts up to 40 metres.

Some luxury yacht charters will combine the magic of Sardinia with French-held Corsica – the islands lie in a north to south run, with Corsica sitting off Sardinia’s northerly tip.

On Corsica , visit the historic capital of Porto-Vecchio, discover the UNESCO wonders of the Lavezzi islands and marvel at the houses perched atop the windswept bluffs in Bonifacio before cruising south to the majestic La Maddelena archipelago.

Covid-19 tourist guidelines.

As the number of positive cases keeps diminishing in Sardinia, the island has officially become a white region on June 1st, striking a record of a low number of positive cases achieving the lowest contagiousness rate in Italy. This will effectively start the tourist season for the region which will open to restaurants and hospitality businesses without any time restrictions.

Incoming visitors will be waived of the quarantine period in case they are already in possession of the vaccine green pass, or if they’ll be able to demonstrate to have received both vaccine shots or to have recovered at least six months prior from SARS-COV2 infections. It is also possible to show a negative result swab test taken 48 hours before arrival. Sardinia’s regional administration requires tourists to download the SardegnaSicura contact tracing app.

Open Restaurants and SPAs

The new legislation in Sardinia maintains that restaurants and HORECA activities now are operating without any time restrictions, maintaining adequate distancing with the requirement of keeping face masks still in place. Whilst the majority of Italy will still be under more cramped restrictions, Sardinia’s nightlife and wellness businesses have reopened starting June 1st.From this date on casinos, SPAs, wellness and thermal centres will resume operations as well as traditional events and festivities. Now it is possible to hold private parties in accordance with the following of sanitary and security procedures.

Hotels and restaurants have resumed operations starting to welcome the first incoming guests and high-end structures like Fort Village Cagliari have opened a few days earlier, hosting the Italian national football team before the European championship start.

The same incoming procedures apply for private pleasure crafts as well. This means that Sardinia will be a favourable location to call port to this summer as the region with the lowest number of cases in Italy.

Visitors coming with pleasure crafts, looking for a luxurious and exclusive location will be blessed by uncrowded city streets and seas. Usually, congested beaches and coves will offer more privacy and exclusivity thanks to fewer incoming tourists.

The Resuming of the Yachting Season

A plethora of events will be waiting for yacht owners and fans. In northern Sardinia, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda organised regattas will be held throughout summer up until October. Three major yacht events will take place: the Loro Piana regatta from the 1st of June to the 6th, the Rolex Cup from Semptember 5th to the 11th and the Perini Navi Cup from the 16th to the 19th.

For horse riding enthusiasts from July 21st there will be the Italia Polo Challenge in Porto Rotondo and the Young Horses Endurance World Championship in Oristano starting September 19th. Those fond of daredevils like races can attend the horseriding fest of S’Ardia in Sedilo from the 6th to the 7th of July and the Sardinian leg of the Italian Rally WRC from June 3rd. For music fans, the Time in Jazz event in the suggestive location of Berchidda from August 7th to the 16th, will offer a stellar lineup starring Paolo Fresu and Petra Magoni. For those interested in folklore and traditional festivals, the iconic barefeet run of Is Candelieri in Sassari will be held on August 14th, whereas beautiful traditional Sardinian’s masks and costumes will flood the streets of Nuoro during the Redentore fest on August 29th, offering a unique insight into Sardinian culture and traditions.

Cagliari’s Yachting Scene

Cagliari and its port will see some changes in the coming months: first, the Luna Rossa Pirelli Team choice of coming back to Southern Sardinia after its participation in the America’s Cup in New Zealand and second, the new round of investments targeting the expansions of big pleasure crafts berthing spots and the construction of new refitting and MRO facilities.

Sardinian favourable weather all year round and the wild nature covering its coastline, creates the perfect conditions for regattas and sailing in general. Cagliari is getting ready to welcome back the beautiful Luna Rossa but also yachts calling port in the city. Sardinia’s regional capital has renewed its commitment towards the nautical sector, fostering a culture based on the respect of the marine environment. Starting next year the city is preparing to host the “festa del mare”, sea fest in italian, which will have a nautical industry showcase with ample berthing space available for vessels exhibition and events.

Cagliari’s port yacht facilities investements

This event integrates with Cagliari’s objective of becoming a logistical hub for pleasure crafts and superyachts. The city’s administration has invested millions in the development of a plan to bring the superyachts to south Sardinia. One one hand is focusing on the equipping of a new berthing area of around 85k sq mts for yachts up to 90mts with lounges equipped with showers and pantries. On the cargo port side, a new greenfield area dedicated to MRO and Refitting for yachts is already under construction. These facilities, covering an area of more than 200,000 sq mts, will offer ample space for a variety of services from refitting to maintenance to big pleasure crafts. The city has developed an expertise in welcoming tourists. From gourmet food and wine tasting to witnessing unique natural sceneries and exploring ancient nuragic ruins, the city’s hospitality system offers plenty of possibilities.

How to arrive to Sardinia

Olbia and Alghero airports are optimal location for visiting northern Sardinia, making them ideal incoming hubs a few minutes away by car to the Costa Smeralda’s ports. For those visiting southern Sardinia arriving by plane, Cagliari offers an easy way in as the airport is connected to multiple international destinations outside the EU. Also, private jets have access to an exclusive lounge and custom checks facilities, so that shipowners and their guests can be sitting on the yacht cockpit’s sipping prosecco in as fast as 15 minutes.

Guide to Sardinia

An eclectic mix of cosmopolitan chic and ancient history

Encompassed by emerald waters and glittering sandy beaches against a stunning backdrop of mountainous terrain, Sardinia sits like a precious stone just off the coast of Italy . This autonomous Mediterranean island is rich in culture and history and steeped in natural beauty. Famously fashionable and boasting an unique mix of designer boutiques, exclusive bars and world class restaurants, Sardinia is one of the finest destinations for a luxury yacht charter .

Stretching from Golfo Aranci to Baia Sardinia, this remarkable Italian gem is the second largest island in the Mediterranean and lays surrounded by clear turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and some of the prettiest anchorages. Cruise along the rippling waters and explore the assortment secluded coves which are strewn along the breathtaking coastline. To the northeast of Sardinia lies Costa Smeralda, one of the most popular destinations to cruise in the Mediterranean and a particular favourite for bona fide charterers and sailing yacht  enthusiasts. With warm constant winds and calm clear waters, sailors will revel in the romance of Sardinia’s waters whilst gazing upon the awe-inspiring surrounding views. At the heart of Costa Smeralda, meander around the seaside resort of Porto Cervo, where the shores are draped with designer boutiques and glamorous restaurants.

Saturated in an alluring history, visit the capital city of Cagliari to discover the ancient and distinguished old town before admiring the enthralling charm of medieval castles, teetering on hilltops shadowing the city below. Take in the medieval churches and alluring architecture which line the timeless and stylish pebbled streets, before stopping to sip on coffee in one of the many chic cafés.

One of the best known beaches in Sardinia is Liscia Ruja, this vast arc of sand glimmers a subtle shade of pink and is enclosed by strawberry trees, cistus and junipers which almost caress the water. The uninhabited island of Mortorio also boasts a beautiful beach and makes for an idyllic location for overnight anchorage whilst enjoying a bottle of bubbly against a backdrop of towering cliffs.

Not only famed for its intriguing architectural landmarks and inviting azure waters, Sardinia is also famed for what some regard to be the finest lobster in the world. The reputation of Sardinian cuisine precedes itself and gastronomes will relish the opportunity to sample the mouth-watering dishes such as simple yet delicious seafood and succulent wild boar.

For those looking to delve into the underwater world to discover the thriving aquatic life beneath the waves, visit the astounding archipelago of La Maddalena . This cluster of 60 islands and islets offers some of the very best snorkelling and diving opportunities for those keen to immerse themselves into water sport adventures. Porto Pollo is an excellent location for kite and windsurfing and with wild reefs and consistent winds, experienced surfers can let loose and enjoy the throes of exhilaration on the water whilst non-surfers can soak up the sun on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

AN ISLAND TO BE DISCOVERED

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean, about 270 km long from north to south and just 6 miles / 12 km away from Corsica.

A LAND OF TRADITIONS

In this ancient island, in addition to numerous local dialects, "Sardo" is still the language spoken, overcoming the barrier of its millenary history. For food connoisseurs, the unspoiled and generous seas of Sardinia offer the freshest selection of seafood, typical products of simple Mediterranean cuisine. In the hinterland of the island, it is worth discovering some of the typical traditions of the local food and wine culture and crafts that are handed down from generation to generation by skilled artisans.

One of the events that attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year, is called Cortes Apertas (literally "open courtyards"). It takes place on weekends between September and December in 27 municipalities of the Province of Nuoro. Every week, in a different municipality, the historic houses of the town open their courtyards and a food and wine and artistic journey takes place. Inside the different courtyards, traditional crafts are represented, while folkloristic shows of dances and popular songs are set up in the town squares.

RAZZOLI, SANTA MARIA & BUDELLI

They are the three northernmost islands of those that make up the Maddalena Archipelago National Park.

The pearls of the far north of Sardinia, the closest to the Strait of Bonifacio, on the border with Corsica. Santa Maria, together with the other two splendid islands of Razzoli and Budelli, represents one of the destinations not to be missed. From Santa Maria you can easily go to nearby Razzoli, 'walking on the sea' crossing the "Passo degli Asinelli", a strip of sand at the bottom of just half a meter of water. White sand, fine and soft like talcum powder, crystal clear turquoise waters, a small corner of paradise accessible only by boat. The spectacular beach "Spiaggia del Cavaliere" overlooks Porto della Madonna, a spectacular stretch of water enclosed between Budelli and the nearby 'twin' islands of Razzoli and Santa Maria. The particular positioning between the three islands protects it from strong currents, creating a real natural pool, with incredible transparency and emerald color.

Cagliari belongs to the most beautiful towns of Sardinia. The island has typical Mediterranean weather. Summers are long and hot, and winters are wet. In July and August, the average temperature is 24-25°C. November and December are the rainiest. On the parts near the sea, the weather hardly drops below 0°C. In January and February, the temperature is around 10°C. The dominant winds here are the Mistral and the Sirocco. The former is mainly present in the northern and western parts. Day 4. Porto Corallo – Arbatax

59.02 km (36.68 mi) After leaving Porto Corallo, Arbatax is our next stop. Crystal clear water, white-sandy beaches surrounded by red rocks await us. The settlement is a paradise for nature lovers. boating in Cagliari

Day 7. Villasimius – Foxi – Cagliari

Drop anchor in the bay, and approach the shore by dinghy. So you can easily explore the sights along the beach, like the Torre Foxi or the Foxi la Barca. Finally, we return to our first spot, Cagliari. After bringing back the yacht it is worth looking around in Cagliari if you have some time Would you like to go to the beach? Poetto, which is a beach with fine sand, is a great choice. It is special because you can find one of the longest shore segments in Italy here. Motor yacht charter vs sailing yacht charters in Sardinia

Choosing between a crewed motor yacht and a sailing yacht for your Sardinia adventure depends on your preferences, budget, and the experience you’re seeking.

Motor yachts offer several advantages that appeal to many travellers. They provide greater speed and agility, allowing you to cover more distance along Sardinia’s coastline in less time. With their luxurious amenities, spacious interiors, and onboard chefs, motor yachts offer unparalleled comfort and indulgence. Their stability in choppy waters and ease of handling make them suitable for guests who prioritize a smooth sailing experience or have limited sailing experience.

On the other hand, sailing yachts offer a more authentic and serene sailing experience. With their reliance on wind power rather than engines, sailing yachts provide a quieter and more intimate atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty of Sardinia’s coastline. They evoke a sense of nostalgia and romance with their classic designs and billowing sails, appealing to travelers seeking an authentic maritime adventure. Additionally, eco-conscious travellers often prefer sailing vessels due to their lower environmental impact and reliance on renewable energy.

Ultimately, choosing a motor yacht or a sailing yacht for your Sardinia adventure depends on your preferences and desired level of comfort. Both options offer their own unique advantages and can provide an unforgettable journey along the breathtaking coastline of Sardinia.

Best Yachts for Charter in Sardinia

Motor yachts for charter in sardinia, sailing yachts for charter in sardinia, sardinia yacht charter faqs, where is sardinia.

Sardinia is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, a part of the Mediterranean Sea, southwest of the Italian Peninsula and just south of the French island of Corsica. It is an autonomous region of Italy and boasts over 1,850 kilometers (1,150 miles) of coastline, featuring stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic cliffs. Sardinia is surrounded by smaller islands and archipelagos, such as the Maddalena Archipelago to the northeast, offering additional exploration and discovery opportunities on your own private yacht charter. These islands often have secluded beaches, hidden caves, and charming villages to explore.

Sardinia’s coastline boasts miles of superlative beaches and secret grottos only accessible by boat. Porto Cervo is at the region’s main center, home to Costa Smeralda. This area has become increasingly desirable for luxury yacht charters because of its remote location and exclusive atmosphere. South of Porto Cervo, you will find forested mountains, medieval villages, and stunning seas. Another recommended site is La Maddalena National Park, a marine reserve that offers opportunities for secluded anchorages and overnight stays. Spotted with seven main islands and many islets, La Maddalena offers crystal-clear waters for an afternoon snorkel and access to the beautiful pink sand beach named Pink of Budelli. Sardinia’s coastal cuisine differs from inland; the seafood base and pasta dishes pay homage to the sea and further contribute to the laidback yet luxurious atmosphere of the island.

When is the best time to go on a Sardinia yacht charter?

The best time to hop on a yacht and explore Sardinia is usually in the summer, from June to September. During this time, the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for soaking up the sun and diving into the crystal-clear waters. Remember that summer is popular with yacht charter guests and tourists, so planning ahead and booking early is advisable. Spring (April to May) and autumn (October to November) are great options for Charter guests who prefer fewer crowds. You’ll still get lovely weather and plenty of chances to enjoy the island’s beauty without the hustle and bustle of peak season. So, whether you’re aiming for exciting summer adventures or a more relaxed experience, there’s a perfect time for a Sardinia yacht adventure to fit your preferences.

Can I visit other destinations on a Sardinia yacht charter?

Yes, absolutely! One of the great advantages of chartering a yacht in Sardinia is the opportunity to explore other destinations in the Mediterranean. Sardinia’s strategic location in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea makes it an excellent starting point for cruising to nearby islands, coastal towns, and other popular destinations.

Just a short sail away from northern Sardinia, Corsica offers stunning landscapes, picturesque towns, and pristine beaches. Explore the historic port city of Bonifacio, relax on the beautiful beaches of Porto-Vecchio, or hike in the rugged mountains of the interior.

The Amalfi Coast

Sail along the west coast of Italy to visit the breathtaking Amalfi Coast , known for its dramatic cliffs, colorful villages, and Mediterranean charm. Explore the picturesque towns of Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, and enjoy the stunning views of the coastline from the deck of your yacht.

The Aeolian Islands

Located off the northern coast of Sicily, the Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago known for their natural beauty and unique landscapes. Visit the island of Stromboli to see its active volcano, explore the picturesque town of Lipari, or relax on the secluded beaches of Panarea and Salina.

The French Riviera

Cruise along the French Riviera to visit glamorous destinations such as Saint-Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco . Enjoy world-class shopping, dining, and nightlife, and soak up the sun on the famous beaches of the Côte d’Azur.
