Crusoe’s on the Lake is the best waterfront restaurant in Belmont. Hosted by  Lake Macquarie Yacht Club , Crusoe’s is the perfect restaurant venue to dine and catch up with friends while admiring the wonderful view across the water or to grab a coffee and relax in the sun. Stretching over the water is a massive deck that is a bustling locale on warmer days. There is nothing quite like it in all of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Our restaurant  menu  offers the best value for money in all of the Belmont and Newcastle regions with a variety of dining options to ensure there is something to impress everyone. We serve the traditional ‘pub fare’ with a couple of twists and also have a range of share platter options, which are great for groups enjoying a drink on the deck. Our $15 lunches are available during weekdays and our restaurant specials change regularly.

We know that our delicious food plus the stunning location directly over the water of Lake Macquarie make a perfect combination for a relaxing lunch or an exquisite dinner.

But sometimes people like to savor the food we create with love and skill in another idyllic location. That’s why we also do Take-Away.

The  Lake Macquarie Yacht Club is a popular venue in Belmont to enjoy a drink and a meal with friends. The restaurant is only a 20min drive from the heart of Newcastle and with a view across Belmont Bay it is a stone’s throw for many Lake Macquarie residents.

The club does offer a courtesy bus service and it is worthwhile taking advantage of it to ensure a fun, carefree night.

Went for lunch with 7 friends We ordered all together and although 5 of us ordered the same meal, only 2 meals came out plus one other we had to ask about meals as some had already almost finished, staff were apologetic The CEO had... arrived for lunch and they to precedence over us apparently, very poor when customers are waiting Prices are getting up there and there were no specials. We had a pleasant day but when we asked staff to take a photo were denied as they can’t touch customers phones. Not sure I would want to go back More

While in Newcastle, NSW, we arranged for a family and friends luncheon after a memorial service in Pelican. The place, the food, and staff was ideal for seating 20 people upstairs overlooking Lake Macquarie. Overal price for an excellent lunch and open bar was very... reasonable. Staff was super helpful. The non-seafood options came off flavourless and poorly done. Our chicken schnitzel was filled with water weight, and the roast vegetables were raw - just warm. The Angus beef burger was bland, although the sum of its parts was quite nice, there was no flavour... to the meat. Just a pressed patty with no salt and a bland cheese. The chips that the table had were all uncooked and soggy, though the garlic bread was a great win. The staff were quite nice, however getting drinks at the bar was extremely slow and the drinks staff didn’t seem too enthused to be there. Overall, I would not suggest going here unless you enjoy garlic bread as much as you dislike seafood. More

I have been living at Lake Macquarie for 16 years, and have always wanted to attend the club for a meal. My wife not being a big eater, decided to order the Bouillabaisse, big mistake. We have had this dish on many occasions both oversea's... and in Australia and always enjoyed it, in Italy, France and New Zealand but most of all, on the Gold Coast at Southport on the pier near Seaworld, Georgio's. Well the dish served here was absolute rubbish and to charge $32.00 was about threefold what it deserved. Maybe $12.00 at a pinch. Please people you must try your own dishes before unloading this garbage on poor unsuspecting guests of the club. More

Checked the website for details, called and made a booking, asked whether there was a courtesy bus as we were at the local caravan park, advised on an uber, called the restaurant and booked a table. Arrived only to be told because we were from... Sydney not allowed in. We are not from a hotspot, no reason to exclude us. Perhaps a mention in the website, from your reception, or when booking might be and idea ? Wasted an uber there, and back. Amateur hour. More

ALLERGY ALERT!!!! My husband is coeliac. We ordered (and paid) for our food, and made a point of verifying twice that it was gluten free at the point of purchase “because it was for an allergy”. When he received and ate his meal it was... NOT GF (this was verified by staff) who gave no apology or refund. It was “his fault for eating it!”. Please be careful as your dietary need may NOT be met. More

I had lunch with a friend here today, I had the soft shell crab salad which was very disappointing. I think it is very hard to mess up a salad but mine was just a big bowl of lettuce with a couple of pieces of... cucumber and onion topped with a tiny soft shell crab which must have fallen in the salt bowl. At $24 it was such a waste, I would not recommend it. More

We went to have lunch expecting great food as the prices are up there . I would not recommend the fish and chip the fish we got was very greasy with no taste at all and mainly batter the salad very sparing with not much... ingredients mainly lettuce.The prawn scallop and chicken filo was okay but struggled to find a scallop and only 2 small prawns. We were a group of four at lunchtime. The menu sounded very appealing and interesting. The food took an hour to arrive after ordering. And we had a meal that none of us could eat more that a few bites. Beautiful views of the bay. Variety of spaces to sit at inside and outside. Fabulous staff that assisted with all requirements we needed for seating, food and drinks. Having a variety of on tap drinks was great too. Parking can get limited and a walk... may be needed More

Nice views and well located. Good bar with pleasant staff. The food was rather average. The ambience though is of a very basic RSL club. We did enjoy the coolness of the pokies room and even made some money!

The staff were lovely but the menu not correct ... as I planned to order from their on-line menu which was out-of-date ...

I had lunch with a friend here today, I had the soft shell crab salad which was very disappointing. I think it is very hard to mess up a salad but mine was just a big bowl of lettuce with a couple of pieces of... cucumber and onion topped with a tiny soft shell crab which must have fallen in the salt bowl. At $24 it was such a waste, I would not recommend it. More

We went to have lunch expecting great food as the prices are up there . I would not recommend the fish and chip the fish we got was very greasy with no taste at all and mainly batter the salad very sparing with not much... ingredients mainly lettuce.The prawn scallop and chicken filo was okay but struggled to find a scallop and only 2 small prawns. More

Great spot and friendly staff. The disappointment was dinner, the veal sntzel was cut quite thick and it was tough and grstly and the coconut prawns consisted of a number of them being under cooked. Atmosphere was very nice but I wouldn't return for the... food. More

We were a group of four at lunchtime. The menu sounded very appealing and interesting. The food took an hour to arrive after ordering. And we had a meal that none of us could eat more that a few bites. To be avoided like the... plague : the barramundi, the beetroot and pumpkin salad; the ling special and the revolting fried squid (the crumb is pure chemicals). So embarrassing for us taking our friends out to lunch . More

Beautiful views of the bay. Variety of spaces to sit at inside and outside. Fabulous staff that assisted with all requirements we needed for seating, food and drinks. Having a variety of on tap drinks was great too. Parking can get limited and a walk... may be needed More

Nice spot on the water to have a nice lunch with friends. Food was great. A bit more expensive than your usual pub menu even though similar offerings. Excellent quality and staff and the view is just superb.

Nice views and well located. Good bar with pleasant staff. The food was rather average. The ambience though is of a very basic RSL club. We did enjoy the coolness of the pokies room and even made some money!

The staff were lovely but the menu not correct ... as I planned to order from their on-line menu which was out-of-date ...

Great harbor. Needed help with a slip and the staff made sure all was taken care of. Bathrooms and showers were clean! Harbor store staff was helpful and had what I needed.

Belmont harbor.

One of the most peaceful places in the city. The weather is always iffy this time of year, but when we get a sunshiney day, Belmont Harbor is a great place to visit! There are large running and biking paths that follow right along the lake for miles. I'm making it a goal to utilize this much more this coming summer, because the warm weather in Chicago is short but sweet and I NEED to take advantage of it! The paths and trails are clean, which is another reason I love this particular part of the lakefront. The views here are really unmatched between the water, city skyline, and boats (depending on time of year, of course). We walked along the concrete water front with our pup who loved every second of it. There were many people sitting there alone or with company also enjoying the beautiful day. If you're looking for shade, there are plenty of tree covered spaces along the sprawling lawn. It looks like there are also restrooms and playgrounds here, another huge win! Definitely plan on making many more trips back here this summer.

I parked my car @ the harbor for $10 and went on a really beautiful stroll along the lakefront.....I fell head over heels in love with my beautiful city, scenic route and the skyline. Love CHICAGO !

09/25/20 - Belmont Harbor @ 3600 N Lake Shore Drive home of many boats and the dog beach. During the summer months this harbor is very busy. In addition to the harbor there is a dog beach. This beach is still used but it's much smaller then before because of the high lake level, much of the beach is now submerged Chicago does a superb job of utilizing Lake Michigan & Belmont Harbor is no exception to this. Along the lakefront Chicago has shored up its shorelines w/steel sheet piling @ the waters edge back filled w/terraced concrete steps in an attempt to minimize the erosion of the wind & waves. The next level inland are the harbors sheltered by these barriers w/inlets for boats to come and dock in relative safety. Next is the green spaces w/trees & grass areas then the running & biking paths followed by Lake Shore Drive. Belmont Harbor is just one of these harbors set up along Chicago's lakefront in this format that allow Chicagoans & visitors to enjoy the lakefront. Awesome job utilizing what I feel is one of the best assets Chicago has to offer.

Belmont Harbor is my second home. A beautiful, clean harbor with the Chicago Lakefront running/biking path running through it, restrooms, water fountains, a playground, an entertaining trapeze group who practices here, and the gorgeous lakefront with endless spots to lay down in the shade and take in both city and nature while reading a book and enjoying a picnic.

Belmont Harbor is the view I have from my apartment. I probably don't need to explain much, just look at my photos, and you'll see why it's a 5 star spot. Further, 8 reviews with total of 4.5 star rating also says it all. There's really nothing bad to say about the place. And it's not just the view of the harbor that I love, although that would be enough on it's own. I also love the harbor as a great place to take photos, hangout, and by the way, it's a harbor. Belmont Harbor is used as transient docking, as it is a fuel dock facility. The harbor even has mast stepping and unstepping capability. In case you are unfamiliar with Belmont Harbor, it is located in the heart of Lincoln Park and is one of the largest harbors in the Chicago Harbors system. You can see tourists, families, and even long-time boaters, in the May through September season. Plus, the harbor is surrounded by acres of park space and a beautiful skyline view to the south, which is excellent for picnics, photography, jogging, and hanging out. I love starting my jog from Belmont Harbor and then going along Chicago Lakefront Path/Trail to Kathy Osterman Beach. It's just lovely. Although, it's definitely a seasonal place. In the Winter, it's completely snowed over, and full of slippery ice. CONCLUSION Belmont Harbor is not only a great tourist spot, photography spot, and dock, it's an excellent place to hangout. But don't just take my word for it, check out my photos, and the other reviews, Belmont Harbor is an excellent Chicago fixture. 5/5 RECOMMEND OF NOTE *There are 818 slips that can accommodate 28'-80' *Dry storage available. *Waste pump-out equipment is available on a no-charge basis. *Belmont Harbor is the home of several yacht clubs, including Chicago Yacht Club's Belmont Station, Belmont Yacht Club, and Chicago Match Race Center.

I love this this harbor. We were in some freak bad weather that came out of no where and couldn't make it to our harbor up north from the city. We used Dockwa to request a spot in Belmont Harbor and called them to see if they could confirm it, they made it happen for us over the phone. We would have been in big trouble if they did not help us, and for that, they are a 5/5!

I cannot help but to stop here when I'm running or riding my bike downtown, and also through Boystown - Lakeview neighborhood. What attracts me to Belmont Harbor is the beauty of it! I have taken many pictures of it and it never seems to get old to me. Belmont Harbor has this classy feel to it and sometimes makes me feel as though I'm not in Chicago. I cannot get enough of it; it is one of those landmarks that attracts many of us that run, walk or ride along the Lakefront trail. Inside of the Harbor there is a dog beach where many take their dogs, and also a mini playground for children. Enjoy!

Belmont harbor is a great escape for the land and water adventurer with pets! Star #1 goes to convenience and parking accessibility. You would enter through Recreation Drive through Chicago's Lake Shore Drive. Upon entering through the park there is paid parking available for $14 for the day across from the harbor. Star #2 for per friendly. It's a beautiful view and plenty for those who want to enjoy a nice walk or run around the harbor. There is also a dog beach for your furry companions! Star #3 for sailing classes and charters. They have sailing classes and charters for you to learn or rent a sail boat for a few hours. Star #4 is for boaters. If you have a boat the marina is managed by West Rec, for more info visit www.chicagoharbors.info. It is one of the largest harbors in Chicago. They can accommodate yachts on deck, sailboats on stardocks or an adventurous fishing boat. We visit as we have several friends with boats and always enjoy the convenience of parking. I did not give this harbor 5 stars as it is missing a nice little cafe or bistro restaurant to get drinks or food. If you're fortunate enough to have friends in the boating community, you have one up on some grub. I had the extreme privilege of living across the street from here. I think this harbor has such an enjoyable environment and boasts one of the best view of the skyline. I would often be found here jogging along the lake, which wraps around a harbor. You look one way and you see all lovely docked boats in a harbor, look another way and all you see is glistening lake, and behind you is grassy lawn offering recreation, and ahead is the skyline along the shore. Beautiful! It is very dog and bike friendly too. There is a golfing, walking paths, volleyball, etc. The totem pole (which is very cool), if often a good meeting landmark. I've taken a few outdoor fitness classes here. I also have enjoyed bringing my small portable charcoal grill and just spending the day grilling and relaxing. The only downfall that I can think of is that you cannot swim in the water here. But that was ok with me because it made it more peaceful.
