Hillarys Yacht Club is a private members club and since the new chef has come on board we have moved from frozen food to fresh locally sourced produce. Yes it is a change from the frozen vegetables and the imported meat and fish but it... is about being sustainable and supporting our local growers and producers. While we are a 'not for profit club' we strive to provide the best possible food to OUR MEMBERS even under the circumstances that we find ourselves, and we agree that we do not get it right every single time. What we do ask our members is to also advise our on duty manager of any concerns on the day so that we can deal with it immediately rather than wait for someone to tell us about what someone has posted somewhere online. To all the 99% of members who have provided feedback on the day we thank you as only through your comments can be avoid making the same mistake and continually improve our service to our members. I have in the past month have had two family functions , dinner, lunch and breakfasts there on several occasions. The current staff are excellent and are both professional and courteous. The food has been excellent and the choice of the fresh market fish or cuts of prime meats are while limited have been of a high quality. Yes there has been an odd occasion when the food was not quite right but a simple discussion with the staff remedied the issue and the meal was excellent. The two functions one a Christmas Lunch and the other a family wedding were excellent with the location and volume of food exceptional with continuous feedback and inquiries about other family functions wraps this up perfectly. Remember this is a private members only club but we do cater for a whole range of functions , in line with the requirements of our rules and that of the Liquor Licensing Authority. More

Went for Christmas festivities, the club lacks the joys of the festive season, little or no effort at all. Turducken was served with weird veggies and no roast potatoes. Club closes over the Christmas period, I understand Christmas Day, but isn’t this an hospitality venue... for club members. Evelyn is excellent. New GM needs to make some significant changes and soon. Have a look at what Perth Yacht Club does for its members. Make use of the great location. More

The buffet on Friday and Sunday nights is as good as it gets for the money, great value and music with views out to the marina. Upstairs is fine dining with excellent food and a even better view

Lunch on Thursday The burger was clearly a left over from a previous occasion. I would say at least 3 days old. I would not be able to identify the type of meat. It was hard and leathery. Breakfast on Sunday. Our first experience was... again a lack of pride in what comes out of the kitchen. The bacon was seriously overcooked and leathery. The eggs were over cooked . too. We were there at 10.30. It would be my view that the bacon was cooked fresh for the start of the and left. Then overcooked in a microwave to re-heat, For the record I am a member of the club. More

This is a lovely restaurant with views to die for. The menu is not too large - which is a good thing. Quality as opposed to quantity I believe. Their fish of the day is always fresh and good and the accompaniments generous. The staff... - especially Jacqui - are attentive & friendly & nothing is too much trouble. A great place to eat, absorb the atmosphere & enjoy the amazing ocean view. More

The dinning room close to the bar, so Friday night very noisey, not ideal a for a romantic night, not an extensive menu, but food was exceptable, Great staff there, & view, clean & enjoyable, good for a bite to eat, but not up market,

Had a family breakfast at the yacht club. A limited menu which usually indicates everything is done properly. This breakfast was no exception. The food was superb and the service friendly. If you are a member or know one go and have a meal. Well... worth it. More

Visiting the buffet at HYC last night we were concerned if their would be anything suitable for our daughter in law as she has recently be diagnosed as Coeliac. The kitchen cooked her a separate meal and Evelyn looked after her dessert wise. Very much... appreciated. More

Sister booked to have a function to celebrate my nephews baptism. The staff were wonderful to deal with and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Food was great and much bigger portions than expected! all the guests were raving on what a great... time they had. and the venue is modern and has beautiful unadulterated views of the harbour. We've ate in the main restaurant quite a lot, Friday night buffets are the best, great seafood, lovely carvery, sweets to die for, also upstairs is good too lovely views, great sunsets

We visited here with our family and the view from the restaurant is great harbour and boats. The buffet is varied and all good food. The pricing is unusual but good for those with children, one dollar per year so if your child is age... 6 you pay $6, what great value as our grandchildren can almost eat their own weight at buffets. Price per adult is cool and worth every dollar. Drinks are likewise good value, no rip off prices here. We will go back. More

Dined here with the Wednesday Members $30 dinner. Great views over the marina and ocean before the sun sets. The entree consisted of a shared platter of tapas selections. On the table we had three plates however inconsistent the quantity of the tapas selection differed... on each plate and some of the bowls used where difference sizes. Around the table the Roast Leg of Lamb was a favourite, however when the menu says it comes with roasted royal blue potatoes I would have expected more than just 2 small cuts. The lamb was good though, very tender and good portion size. The beef korma also got a thumbs up. The frittata was very dry and the lattice fries too salty. Only issue with the main course was one guest was delivered the incorrect meal, and had to wait while the correct dish was cooked. It had apparently gone to another table, and then the remaining diners had to either wait until all dishes were on the table or start without one diner Could have done with more choices for dessert, especially as it was an additional cost. The berry charlotte with vanilla ice cream came without the ice cream. We had nearly half an hour wait for dessert. The coffee order that was taken, and we were expecting it to come out after dessert and wanted it after dessert came before dessert. The restaurant was not very busy so not sure why the delay. More

My husand and myself chose Hillarys Yacht Club for my birthday Dinner. We had the most enjoyable meal, the best service and the night was very pleasant.

Located in the Hillarys Marina, Hillarys Yacht Club overlooks the beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean.

Renowned for its range of social and competitive activities, the Club offers sailing, diving, angling, powerboating, kayaking, paddleboarding, social events and on-water training courses. It also has superb facilities for boating enthusiasts with 107 floating pens and 163 fixed pens ranging from 8 metres to 20 metres. Pen options include annual club rentals and long -term leases with subleases and the Club also offers professional boat lifting, rack storage, service and repair work.

Hillarys Yacht Club welcomes all new enquiries for Membership, with a raft of Membership opportunities to suit all prospective Members from Full, Senior, Junior, Country and Corporate.

Overall rating

As a new member to the club and working away for such a long swing, I am still finding out about the club. Introduction night was informative and the vice commodore very open and friendly answering any and all questions from the variety of new members. The club has a great selection of activities to pursue from, casual dining, Pinky's outdoor bar, 3 separate function rooms, well prepared meals upstairs with brilliant views of the marina and coast from the three sided balcony. There is the boat lifting facility, sailing, power boating, fishing, diving, social nights, boat hire for fishing etc, kids sailing club, a wide range of training courses and soon to be fuel supplies, something for everyone that like anything water or coastal related. Can't wait to get to know more members and get involved.

This is a club and, as such, comes with the usual disclaimers: you might want to hit up a member before trying to get in without an invitation. It's worth it, though. Hillarys Yacht Club doesn't fit all of one's preconceived notions about such clubs--most of the members are retirees, not Abercrombie & Fitch models--but it certainly fits some of them. There is a level of comfort, of familiarity, that one can't help but find appealing. As in all the best bars, everyone knows everybody else's name, and last time I was there someone came out to the outside bar, which wasn't even supposed to be open, and plied us with our poisons of choice until such a time as we were satisfied. In terms of food, the nights tend to be themed: pasta on Monday, buffets on Wednesday and Friday, steak or seafood on Thursday, and so on. To complain of the staidness of the options, or of their predictability, would be to miss the point entirely: as with your average RSL, the food is simple, well-done, and filling. The club can also be hired out as a venue for weddings, seminars and the rest. In any case, you don't have to eat at the club to enjoy it: sitting up on the balcony, enjoying the complimentary nuts and a glass of white wine, one can look north along the coast as the sun sets to the west. And that's something.

Many a fond memory growing up here, back in the 90s when the club was new. As children (part of a family membership) there was a kids hangout / shed in an old portable, with a TV and things to keep us all occupied. All the regular HYC families knew each other and socialised well, regular events were attended, including Christmas functions where "Santa" would visit every year and bring a big bag full of gifts for everybody! It would be fantastic if HYC tried to look up all the old, original members and get in touch with us as we are all adults now with our own families.

I used to be part of a family membership here, back in the 90s, it was great! We had somewhat of a kids hangout, with TV and when dinner was served one of the adults would come out and call us inside to eat. At Christmas time one of the members would dress as Santa and every child who was a member would receive a present! Many fond memories here!

A bit hit and miss with quality. Buffet is reasonably priced as is the Monday night special but a bit pricey on other nights and have to order extra veg or salad as they are not included with main apart from potato.

Formed in 1986, Hillarys Yacht Club resides in the Hillarys Marina overlooking the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean.

The Club has come a long way since then and it is renowned for its range of social and competitive sailing activities as well as diving activities, angling, power boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, social events and on water training courses.

Hillarys Yacht Club is an active family recreational facility and a thriving enterprise. It boasts a large Clubhouse as well as 270 on the water pens, boat lifting and racking services and junior club house.

Hillarys Yacht Club’s second storey restaurant, function room and ocean view bar showcases some of the best views along the northern coastline and is the premier water sports Club of the Northern Suburbs.

Hillarys Yacht Club is a private members club and since the new chef has come on board we have moved from frozen food to fresh locally sourced produce. Yes it is a change from the frozen vegetables and the imported meat and fish but it... is about being sustainable and supporting our local growers and producers. While we are a 'not for profit club' we strive to provide the best possible food to OUR MEMBERS even under the circumstances that we find ourselves, and we agree that we do not get it right every single time. What we do ask our members is to also advise our on duty manager of any concerns on the day so that we can deal with it immediately rather than wait for someone to tell us about what someone has posted somewhere online. To all the 99% of members who have provided feedback on the day we thank you as only through your comments can be avoid making the same mistake and continually improve our service to our members. I have in the past month have had two family functions , dinner, lunch and breakfasts there on several occasions. The current staff are excellent and are both professional and courteous. The food has been excellent and the choice of the fresh market fish or cuts of prime meats are while limited have been of a high quality. Yes there has been an odd occasion when the food was not quite right but a simple discussion with the staff remedied the issue and the meal was excellent. The two functions one a Christmas Lunch and the other a family wedding were excellent with the location and volume of food exceptional with continuous feedback and inquiries about other family functions wraps this up perfectly. Remember this is a private members only club but we do cater for a whole range of functions , in line with the requirements of our rules and that of the Liquor Licensing Authority. More

Went for Christmas festivities, the club lacks the joys of the festive season, little or no effort at all. Turducken was served with weird veggies and no roast potatoes. Club closes over the Christmas period, I understand Christmas Day, but isn’t this an hospitality venue... for club members. Evelyn is excellent. New GM needs to make some significant changes and soon. Have a look at what Perth Yacht Club does for its members. Make use of the great location. More

The buffet on Friday and Sunday nights is as good as it gets for the money, great value and music with views out to the marina. Upstairs is fine dining with excellent food and a even better view

Lunch on Thursday The burger was clearly a left over from a previous occasion. I would say at least 3 days old. I would not be able to identify the type of meat. It was hard and leathery. Breakfast on Sunday. Our first experience was... again a lack of pride in what comes out of the kitchen. The bacon was seriously overcooked and leathery. The eggs were over cooked . too. We were there at 10.30. It would be my view that the bacon was cooked fresh for the start of the and left. Then overcooked in a microwave to re-heat, For the record I am a member of the club. More

This is a lovely restaurant with views to die for. The menu is not too large - which is a good thing. Quality as opposed to quantity I believe. Their fish of the day is always fresh and good and the accompaniments generous. The staff... - especially Jacqui - are attentive & friendly & nothing is too much trouble. A great place to eat, absorb the atmosphere & enjoy the amazing ocean view. More

Had a family breakfast at the yacht club. A limited menu which usually indicates everything is done properly. This breakfast was no exception. The food was superb and the service friendly. If you are a member or know one go and have a meal. Well... worth it. More

Visiting the buffet at HYC last night we were concerned if their would be anything suitable for our daughter in law as she has recently be diagnosed as Coeliac. The kitchen cooked her a separate meal and Evelyn looked after her dessert wise. Very much... appreciated. More

Sister booked to have a function to celebrate my nephews baptism. The staff were wonderful to deal with and went above and beyond to meet our needs. Food was great and much bigger portions than expected! all the guests were raving on what a great... time they had. and the venue is modern and has beautiful unadulterated views of the harbour. We've ate in the main restaurant quite a lot, Friday night buffets are the best, great seafood, lovely carvery, sweets to die for, also upstairs is good too lovely views, great sunsets

We visited here with our family and the view from the restaurant is great harbour and boats. The buffet is varied and all good food. The pricing is unusual but good for those with children, one dollar per year so if your child is age... 6 you pay $6, what great value as our grandchildren can almost eat their own weight at buffets. Price per adult is cool and worth every dollar. Drinks are likewise good value, no rip off prices here. We will go back. More

Dined here with the Wednesday Members $30 dinner. Great views over the marina and ocean before the sun sets. The entree consisted of a shared platter of tapas selections. On the table we had three plates however inconsistent the quantity of the tapas selection differed... on each plate and some of the bowls used where difference sizes. Around the table the Roast Leg of Lamb was a favourite, however when the menu says it comes with roasted royal blue potatoes I would have expected more than just 2 small cuts. The lamb was good though, very tender and good portion size. The beef korma also got a thumbs up. The frittata was very dry and the lattice fries too salty. Only issue with the main course was one guest was delivered the incorrect meal, and had to wait while the correct dish was cooked.
