If you want to spend a day at sea and you really want that holiday feeling go on a private boat trip! Enjoy the luxury of a private yacht with skipper. If you are with a small group (up to 11 persons) this would be the best option for you.

When I first thought of a private yacht I thought this would be really expensive but actually, if you are with a small group it is not even so much more than joining a big catamaran. The feeling of freedom and indulging yourself is much greater though! So yes, I do recommend having a private sailing experience!

The yacht rental will organize for a drink or two on the boat but let me know any special requests you might have. We have organized water games, inflatable floating unicorns, corporate regatta´s, live music… We love to get creative with you!

Blue Water Yacht Services is a new Company founded by British born Tony Clynick. The company operates throughout Europe from a base near Valencia in Spain. Whether you are interested in a Motor Yacht or Sailing Yacht, Commercial or Private, Family Cruiser, Performance or Superyacht we would be pleased to assist you.

 With experience of every type of vessel from sailing dinghies, inflatables and small fishing boats to motor yachts up to 105m and sailing yachts up to 80m we have the knowledge, qualifications and practical training to offer you technical advice or just a friendly opinion. Are you looking to purchase your first yacht?  Sell your existing boat ?  Exchange to a bigger/smaller vessel ?  Charter ?  We can help.

AROUND THE WORLD

After a house, a yacht is probably the second largest expense for a family, and for peace of mind and security I would always recommend a survey prior to moving forward. Unlike a house, a yacht is frequently chosen by the heart, rather than a logical mind, and even the most experienced sailor can miss a crucial point. Therefore, I believe, an independent opinion is well worth the extra cost. The survey can range from a full pre-purchase/condition survey which could take several days, to a simple walk through of just a few hours to gain a quick idea of the condition of the vessel and whether it is worth proceeding further.

At Blue Water Yacht Services we can be flexible to fully meet your requirements on which type and scope of survey is best for you. Our reports will be comprehensive, and written so that they are easy to understand, offering suggestions, comments, recommendations and probable time and costs of any repairs if needed. We will always be available to discuss any issues in greater detail by email, phone or in person.

At Blue Water Yacht Services we offer a personalized and impartial Yacht Consultancy Service, advising on a range of issues important to the prospective Owner.

We can research yacht design and suitability for the Owner’s intended use whether Offshore sailing, Ocean cruising, Racing, Coastal passages, Lake sailing, short-handed or fully crewed, etc. We can initiate Title and Lien Checks, and advise on various Ownership Structures, Cost Controls, Insurance Companies and Policies, requirements for Chartering, VAT, Commercial Registration, Classification, and Crew costs etc. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find space in a Marina, and we can assist the Owner in finding a berth in the right location and at a reasonable cost.

Whatever the size of your yacht, please contact us for advice on these or any other topic you have concerns or questions about. We will be pleased to help you in any way we can.

In addition to our Consultancy Service we also offer a Yacht Management Division, taking most of the stress out of yacht Ownership. Tony has managed several multi-million Refit and New Build projects, all of which were completed to the Owners full satisfaction.

As Manager of your Yacht we will ensure all Statutory Certificates ( Flag Sate, Safety, ISM, MLC, Classification, Safe Manning etc ) are in date. We will also ensure the yacht complies with all relevant Tax, Insurance, ISPS and Port State regulations. In addition, as the Owner’s Representative we can supervise and oversee New Construction, Refit and Repair, Pre-Delivery Inspection and Warranty Work etc. ensuring all work is carried out to a high standard, on time and on or below budget, allowing the Owner the security to know his yacht will be available without delay or additional costs.

Our Business

Passenger Yachts

Any yacht carrying more than 12 passengers is considered a “passenger yacht” and is subject to additional regulations and requirements (SOLAS Convention, ISM Code, ISPS Code and  MLC 2016 Convention). The specific regulations vary depending on the yacht's location and the type of operation it is engaged in. Still, passenger yachts generally must adhere to strict safety standards and carry higher insurance coverage.

Passenger yachts may also be subject to regular inspections by government agencies to ensure they comply with all applicable regulations. Additionally, the crew of a passenger yacht must hold appropriate licenses and certifications, and the yacht must be equipped with safety equipment and emergency procedures in place.

Mega Yachts

Any vessel of any kind, regardless of its mode of propulsion, whose hull length (LH) is greater than 24 meters , with a gross tonnage of less than 3,000 GT and the capacity to carry up to 12 passengers , not counting the crew, intended for pleasure boating, tourism, leisure, the practice of sport or non-professional fishing, used by its owner or by any other people through lease, passage contract, assignment or any other title.

Any vessel of any kind, regardless of its means of propulsion, with a hull length (LH) between 2.5 and 24 meters , measured according to the criteria established in the UNE-EN ISO 8666 standard, used for sporting, leisure, and boating training or training purposes recreation, even when exploited for profit.

About the Yacht

Valencia (just like Valencia Spain) is a g raceful & elegant Leopard 51 Ft yacht ideal for day charters, evening cruise, overnight or extended trips. This yacht is fully equipped for short & long cruises. 

The Leopard 51 Powercat yacht brings with it a multitude of exciting features, including a sleek design, a large forward cockpit, additional lounging areas, an expansive fly-bridge and a completely redesigned interior upgraded with modern appliances.

Drawing upon the success of previous Leopard powercats, this economically efficient catamaran uses less fuel than other power models. She also incorporates a brilliant ergonomic layout that makes maneuvering around your yacht comfortable and easy.

This yacht also boasts a large and open saloon, a galley with the latest appliances, and a 3 or 4 cabin layout with en-suite heads. The Leopard 51 Powercat combines the best from our sailing fleet with the luxury and ease of a power yacht.

It can comfortably accomodate 30 guests for a day cruise or 6 guests overnight. This luxurious Catamaran is designed to impress, to excite, to seduce, to titillate and to mesmerize even the most seasoned and demanding seafarer.

Please listen to the captain’s instructions and do not commit rash acts that will endanger the charter or any passengers

Rescheduling

Rescheduling policy: Any rescheduling of the yacht charter is subject to our rescheduling policy. The charterer may reschedule the charter subject to availability and terms and conditions.

• Rescheduling made more than 1 month prior to the charter date is provided free of charge.
• Rescheduling made less than 1 month prior to the yacht charter date, an additional 50% of charter fees will be charged as a rescheduling fee.
• Any reschedules made within office hours count towards the effective rescheduling period stated above. Rescheduling made after office hours will be counted beginning from the next working day.
• Should Charterer reschedule a weekend charter slot to a weekday charter slot (from a higher-value charter to a lower-value charter), no refunds (whether cash or credit) on the difference of the charter fees will be provided.
• Should Charterer reschedule a weekday charter slot to a weekend charter slot( From a lower value charter to a higher value charter), a top up (whether cash or credit) on the difference of the prevailing charter fees will be required.

Cancellations

Cancellation policy: In any event of cancellation, our cancellation policy applies

• Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the yacht charter date are subject to 100% of the charter fee, with no refund or rescheduling allowed.
• For cancellations made less than 1 month prior to the yacht charter date, full payment of the charter fee will be charged, with a refund of up to 50% allowed at TYC’s sole discretion.
• For cancellations made more than 1 month in advance, TYC may, at our discretion, allow a refund of up to 100% of the full charter fee.
• All refunds may be made in the form of a cash refund or credit refund.
• Cancellations made within office hours count towards the effective cancellation period stated above. Cancellations made after office hours will be counted beginning from the next working day.
• Any refund, if applicable, shall only apply to the charter fee component. Charges for food catering or other services will not be refunded should the charter be cancelled for any reason.
• TYC will always negotiate with our vendors in the best interests of our clients. Refund decisions by vendors may be transferred where possible. Flexibility may be exercised where possible, with special considerations made by TYC at our sole discretion on a case-by-case basis.

Other Terms & Conditions

• This yacht does not refund if there is a shortfall of guests after payment. You might want to book your charter for the confirmed number of guests and add on within the maximum capacity nearer to the charter date.
• Only fully vaccinated passengers are allowed onboard the SZH-licensed pleasure craft. Unvaccinated passengers (other than recovered individuals, medically ineligible individuals, or children aged 12 years and below) are not allowed to board the craft.
• All rates listed are for basic charters only (4-5 hours depending on the yacht). For the standard itinerary,  please click here .
• BBQ pit and cooking services DO NOT  include food.
• Ice (otherwise stated), disposable cutlery, and cups are not provided.
• Do note for wet weather, the Captain will still sail out if it does not pose any safety issues. If it is not possible to sail out, the Captain will try to  delay the sail-out timing. If it is not possible to sail, the charter will be  rescheduled  to a later date (subject to availability).  No cancellations  are allowed. The Captain will decide what is the next course of action.  Customers are still required to proceed to the marina and wait for the captain’s final decision.
• Disembarkation at Lazarus Island Pontoon is no longer permitted by MPA unless the yacht has a tender boat.
• Balloons are prohibited due to marine life preservation.
• Red wine is strictly prohibited on all yachts except for Anka, MS Eternity and EagleWings 1, 2 and 3.
• If no social gatherings are allowed due to any pandemic, we would reschedule the charter up to a mutually agreeable date and time. No cancellations will be permitted. Strictly  NO refunds and postponements, should there be any reduction in headcount for social gatherings by the MMTF, charterers will need to reduce their own headcount and consume the charter. Notwithstanding the above, there are no refunds or reschedules for bookings even if guests are tested positive for COVID-19 unless agreed by the yacht owners.

Orcas Sink 49-Foot Yacht in Mystifying Trend Around the Strait of Gibraltar

A n unknown number of orcas sunk a sailing yacht in Moroccan waters in the Strait of Gibraltar on Sunday, according to Spain’s maritime rescue service. While orcas are typically peaceful, this is the latest in a string of attacks that have hit the region in the past four years.

Reuters reports that a 49-foot-long vessel, named the Alboran Cognac, carried two people and encountered the high social apex predators at 9 am local time on Sunday. The passengers reported sudden blows to the hull and rudder before the water started seeping into the ship. A nearby oil tanker rescued the two onboard and transported them to Gibraltar. The yacht was left to sink into the ocean.

Experts believe the orcas involved to be a subpopulation of about 15 individuals given the name “Gladis.” This group of juvenile males has sunk several yachts in the Strait of Gibraltar over the last four years, but experts are somewhat baffled as to why. While typically peaceful animals, the Gladis pod has plagued the small strip of water separating Europe and Africa for years.

There have been nearly 700 interactions between orcas and ships in the Strait of Gibraltar region since May 2020, according to Reuters. At the time, it seemed like one of many dystopian things going on in the world during the global pandemic. But the trend continues today, and we still don’t have much more of an explanation as to why this happens.

In 2020, photos of the Gladis pod revealed several injuries on the orcas’ bodies, possibly indicating previous run-ins with fishing boats. In a 2023 interview with NPR, director of the Orca Behavior Institute Monika Wieland Shields said we don’t know the motivation, but this could be a defense behavior based on previous trauma. It’s possible the orcas had negative experiences with a fishing boat, so now they see all large boats as a threat.

“I definitely think orcas are capable of complex emotions like revenge,” she told NPR. “I don’t think we can completely rule it out.”

However, Shields doesn’t completely subscribe to the “revenge” hypothesis. There have been plenty of other times when orcas around the world were targeted by boats, and they’ve never responded in this way before. Further, it doesn’t seem that this behavior is spreading to other orca pods.

Another theory is that ramming boats is just the latest orca fad, according to Renaud de Stephanis, president and coordinator at CIRCE Conservación Information and Research, a cetacean research group based in Spain. He told NPR in 2022 that “this is a game” for the orcas, and when they “ have their own adult life, it will probably stop. ” As orcas grow older, they have to help the pod hunt for food and have less time to play with sailboats.

Director of Bay Cetology, Jared Towers, told NPR that fads like this come and go in the orca society. Towers said some orcas in the Pacific in the 1990s would kill fish and swim around with it on their head. Now we don’t see that anymore. Hopefully, the boat ramming phenomenon will come and go like any other trend.

An unknown number of orcas have sunk a sailing yacht after ramming it in Moroccan waters in the Strait of Gibraltar, Spain’s maritime rescue service said on Monday, a new attack in what has become a trend in the past four years.

The vessel Alboran Cognac, which measured 15 metres (49 feet) in length and carried two people, encountered the highly social apex predators, also known as killer whales, at 9 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) on Sunday, the service said.

The passengers reported feeling sudden blows to the hull and rudder before water started seeping into the ship. After alerting the rescue services, a nearby oil tanker took them onboard and transported them to Gibraltar.

The yacht was left adrift and eventually sank.

The incident is the latest example of  recurring orca rammings  around the Gibraltar Strait that separates Europe from Africa and off the Atlantic coast of Portugal and northwestern Spain.

Experts believe them to involve a subpopulation of about 15 individuals given the designation “Gladis.”

According to the research group GTOA, which tracks populations of the Iberian orca sub-species, there have been nearly 700 interactions since orca attacks on ships in the region were first reported in May 2020.

Researchers are unsure about the causes for the behaviour, with leading theories including it being a playful manifestation of the mammals’ curiosity, a social fad or the intentional targeting of what they perceive as competitors for their favourite prey, the local bluefin tuna.

Although known as killer whales, endangered orcas are part of the dolphin family. They can measure up to eight metres and weigh up to six tonnes as adults.

The Alboran Cognac sailing vessel was rammed by an unknown number of killer whales in the Strait of Gibraltar at around 9am local time on Sunday, the Spanish maritime rescue service said.

Two people were on board, who reported feeling blows to the boat's hull and rudder before it started taking on water.

They had to be rescued by a nearby oil tanker after they radioed the coastguard for help. The pair were taken to Gibraltar for safety, while the yacht was left adrift and later sank.

There have been around 700 interactions between orcas and ships since the trend emerged in the area in May 2020, according to the research group GTOA.

They believe such attacks could be the result of the orcas' playful curiosity or the animals confusing boats with competitors for bluefin tuna - their favourite prey.

Experts claim these incidents, which have been confined to the strait that separates Spain and Portugal from Africa, are the work of a sub-population of around 15 orcas.

In May last year, a yacht called The Mustique was severely damaged by several of the whales and had to be towed to Cadiz.

Guidelines issued by the Spanish Transport Ministry stipulate that whenever ships observe any alteration in the behaviour of orcas - such as sudden changes of direction or speed - they should leave the area as soon as possible and avoid further disturbance to the animals during the manoeuvres.
