The MC Scow is a recreational sailing dinghy designed for speed and stability first designed in 1956 and still in production. It is 16 feet long, 5 ft 8 in wide, and weighs 420 lbs. It has a sail area of 135 sq ft, an open cockpit design, and a mast that can be stepped singlehanded. It can be sailed single-handed or double-handed.

MC Scows sail with the main down off center because their mainsail is not in the relative knock of a headsail. True of any main-only boat. The same boat with a jib (M16 scow) sail normally. MC hulls were designed by Johnson Boatworks in White Bear Lake MN. Melges changed the rig and called that boat the MC.

Do I want an MC Scow?
Easy to trailer, step mast and rig by one person. Somewhat forgiving to sail. Can be pushed in a good breeze, but will stay dry if desired. Fast. Or at least the feeling of speed. Mostly sail on a small lake with dinghys and daysailers, and want to be able to pass anything bit a Prindle (e.g.).
