• Entertainment – feel free to bring a shirtless or bottomless waiter!  What happens on the Broadwater STAYS on the Broadwater!
• BYO : You have the option to bring your alcohol with you onto the boat.  Pre-mixed spirits in cans and bottles or wine and champagne.
• Red wine is not permitted onboard as it stains the teak decking – Rose is fine.
• Photo Opportunities : Remember to bring a camera; the views are outstanding. A beautifully themed hens party with an ocean backdrop makes the perfect selfie. Get the girls together, dressed to the nines or ready for a splash and take some much needed #girlgang selfies!

We never advise waiting until the last minute to book a bachelorette yacht party. If you are in charge of planning, we recommend that you work out the timing of the event sooner rather than later and call us as quickly as possible to ensure that the date that you need is available. 

Food Options

Does the bride prefer canapes or a casual BBQ? The MV Bacchus does not provide catering but you may BYO and cook onboard or simply hire a caterer to provide a range of hot and cold nibbles. See our catering page for ideas and local options on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

BYO alcohol saves the group a fortune – but only wine, champagne and pre-mixed spirits in bottles or cans are allowed.  We do not permit straight bottles of alcohol or pre-mixed jugs of cocktails prepared at home.  We wouldn’t want your party to get too drunk and fall off the Bacchus!

Package 1 – Girls Day Out

Departing at 12pm, our captain takes your crew out Island Hopping for a day of Watersports, BBQ buffet, Cold drinks and fun in the sun. Think Banana boats, cold beers, SUP’s and multiple bars.

This package is perfect for a Girls day in the Sun, with up to 130 passengers and a run time of 4 hours this is definitely one the girls will remember.

Package 2 – Evening Cocktails & Canapés

Departing at 5pm, this Sunset Cruise sets the mood for a night of world class luxury and celebration aboard the Gold Coasts premier Superyacht. Our newly renovated Mermaid Spirit can host up to 100 guests for day charters and can sleep 22 guests for overnight charters. A tri-deck catamaran, Mermaid Spirit boasts multiple entertainment decks and spaces and comes equipped with jet skis, kayaks, scuba diving gear, stinger proof pool and paddle boards for the more adventurous of guests. Where do your boats depart from?

Our boats are berthed at Marina Mirage. Please see the ‘contact us ‘ page on our website  for further details and a map. Marina Mirage is about 10 mins from Surfers and 15 mins from Broadbeach.

Where can I park?

There is plentiful free parking at Marina Mirage/Mariners Cove which you are permitted to use.  Please check signage at time of parking and if parking overnight consider street parking to avoid towing.

What about other transport options?

There are lots of ways to get to the boat! The most popular (and cost effective/convenient) is often via Maxi Taxis.

Yes if you would like to bring your own food and drinks on board that is completely fine.

(BYO food and drinks may be affected by Government restrictions due to Covid, please check at the time of your charter what the current restrictions are)

I am short on time can you please help me out with catering/drinks?

Yes, we also offer catering and drinks service for your convenience. Please request our full catering list as advance bookings are required. We offer a range of catering options from grazing boards, to canapes and private chefs.

(Catering and drinks service options may be affected by Government restrictions due to Covid, please check at the time of your charter what the current restrictions are)

Do you have Eskies on board?

Yes we have Fridges & Eskies and we also provide ice. 

Where can we go on our charter?

We mainly operate in the calm, protected waters of the Gold Coast Broadwater. Where to go very much depends on what you would like to do and how long your boat charter is for so please feel free to discuss this with our team. In a 3 hour charter during the day our guests usually love a swim stop at Wavebreak Island where you can enjoy the range of island activities on board. Your skipper is knowledgeable in the local area and will make recommendations based on the conditions on the day.  If you don’t wish to swim in a 3 hour charter you instead opt to sail further north along the inside of South Stradbroke Island and see the millionaires mansions at Sovereign Islands.

In the evening we will generally sail north to watch the sunset and return to the southern part of the Broadwater to enjoy the city lights after dark which are just beautiful.

Will I get seasick?

We mainly operate in the calm, protected waters of the Gold Coast Broadwater. If we go offshore (into the open ocean) there is a possibility of large waves. 

Are your charters suitable for guests with limited mobility?

We have welcomed several guests on board with limited mobility. However we do realise that each individual is different in terms of ability and what they are comfortable with. Please take a look at the 360 tours on the ‘ Our Boats ‘ page for an ideal of getting around the boats and do bear in mind a big step up (or carry) is required to board the boats at the marina. Our friendly team will be happy to discuss further to ensure you and your guests are comfortable prior to making a booking.

When you book a hen's party cruise with Sailing in Paradise you can expect a quality of service from years of experience in the industry coupled with the essential hen's party ingredient - LOTS OF FUN!

Don't expect a cookie-cutter hens party! We realise that every hen is different and therefore every hen's party is different. We celebrate that, and will adapt our service on the day to suit your vibe, whatever that may be.

From your initial enquiry, we aim to make the booking process as simple as possible for you, offering a variety of optional extras including catering, beverages, and butlers should you wish to book them. But none of this is obligatory, we also welcome BYO food and drinks.

You can take whatever approach you wish towards planning your party and we've got your back. We understand that life gets busy (especially when there is a wedding to plan) so if you would like us to take care of things like catering, drinks and cheeky butlers (so you can just turn up and enjoy), then we will take the helm and organise everything on your behalf!

Alternatively, if you have heaps of ideas of your own and want to customise or theme your party let us know what you've got planned and we are happy to give advice and ideas on how it may work.

Pick a theme

We love a themed hen's party! Some of our faves have included nautical (think sailors hats, stripes), mermaids (Tails 'n all), white parties (a total classic and always looks so chic) and tropical (just perfect for a boat/island party).

If you are looking at our BYO option why not carry the theme into your food and drink. We also welcome themed decorations (there are a few guidelines around this so please do check in with us first). Generally we recommend the table is a great place to start with theming since these are centrally located on all our boats and provide a nice focal point.

First of all remember...a little rain doesn't stop a great party on our boats ha ha... But do rest assured that we have a very generous wet weather policy as we want you to enjoy your time on board the boat, so if there is torrential rain or storms at the time you will be able to cancel or reschedule your cruise. Generally there are BYO drinks options available for groups up to 45 guests. BYO boats will provide large eskies to keep your drinks nice and cold. Ice may or may not be included in your hire. We will let you know upon booking if your boat has the BYO option available and/or if a BYO fee applies so there will be no surprises.

It’s mandatory to have enough food onboard to comply with RSA guidelines. Most boats have onboard BBQs, and the crew will cook your food if you choose to bring your own. Alternatively, you can select one of the tasty catering options available, and we will handle the food arrangements for you. If you’re unsure whether your boat allows BYO food, we’ll clarify this for you when you enquire so that there are no surprises.

Yes you can! You can organise your own waiter, or we can put you in touch with our entertainment partners to organise your cheeky butler(s) for the day. 

Larger catamarans, yachts, and event boats are especially suitable for hosting DJ parties. Upon booking, we will inform you if having a DJ onboard is possible on your chosen boat. If you’re interested in having a DJ at your event but don’t have one lined up yet, don’t worry! We can help you arrange a DJ for your private boat party. Pricing and options for DJ services are available upon request, so please let us know if you need any assistance with this.

Depending on the vessel, this is possible. In particular, catamarans are a great option for a day of water play on Sydney Harbour. If you are on a vessel that has easy water access included, your captain will take you to the perfect secluded swimming spots. Please let our team know if swimming is something you’re interested upon enquiring.

Boats will head out in all weather conditions when deemed safe by the captain. If the weather is deemed unsafe and the captain needs to cancel, you will receive a 12-month voucher. This voucher is equal to the value of your booking and can be used to reschedule your charter. The past years we’ve had quite a few groups out with a bit of rain, and they all still had an amazing time! There is plenty of space on the boats to keep dry, and sometimes a little rain even adds to the fun!

The Oxford Picnic Cruise combines Oxford sightseeing with a gourmet picnic lunch and a relaxed experience of river life. This is our most popular cruise for hen parties and offers an excellent way for groups to bond in a relaxed and sociable environment. A lovely picnic hamper is served and drinks can be purchased to take aboard.

For that extra delight, the indulgent Afternoon Tea cruise is a perfect treat for a bride and her hens. Including a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, a selection of cakes, pastries or tarts, and tea along with a snapshot of Oxford.

Each of our boats can accommodate up to 12 people. For larger groups we are able to use two or more boats which cruise along the river together. On longer cruises passengers are given the opportunity to swap from boat to boat so that groups can mingle.

Siblings killed, multiple injured after driver crashes into building during birthday party at Swan Boat Club

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A vehicle crashed into a building during a children's birthday party on Saturday afternoon in Monroe County, killing two siblings and seriously injuring other kids and adults, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene at Swan Boat Club located in the 600 block of Brancheau Road in Berlin Township around 3 p.m.

Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said an 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother were killed in the crash. Goodnough said 15 people were injured, and that nine people were transported via ambulance or medical helicopter. Of the nine, three are children and six are adults.

Officials said a 66-year-old woman crashed into the building, entering about 25 feet inside. Goodnough said the woman was taken into police custody for operating while intoxicated causing death. He said additional charges will likely be brought against the driver.

Goodnough said first responders described the scene as "extremely chaotic with high level of emotions."

Video from the scene showed a large hole in one of the buildings.

Siblings, ages 4 and 8, killed after car crashes into child’s birthday party in Monroe Co.

Sheriff: 15 people hurt, 9 hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WTVG) - Two siblings, ages 4 and 8, were killed when an alleged intoxicated driver slammed into a building during a child’s birthday party Saturday in Monroe County, authorities said.

Crews from several agencies responded to the Swan Boat Club on Saturday around 3 p.m. in Monroe County.

First responders tended to 15 victims at the scene, including adults and young children. Nine people were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance and/or helicopter, including six adults and three children, with serious, life-threatening injuries, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said. Several other people went to area hospitals in private vehicles.

MCSO says Alanah Phillips, 8, and Zayn Phillips, 4, who are siblings, died at the scene. Their older sibling, who is in middle school, survived but was among those hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the children’s school district.

MCSO says nine people were transported to local hospitals by ambulance:

• 31-year-old female who remains in critical condition
• 11-year-old male who remains in critical condition
• 18-year-old female in serious condition
• 16-year-old female in serious condition
• 14-year-old male in serious condition
• 70-year-old female with minor injuries
• 66-year-old female with minor injuries
• 62-year-old female with minor injuries
• 57-year-old female with minor injuries

According to MCSO, one of the victims, a 42-year-old man, sought treatment on his own for his injuries.

The 66-year-old driver was taken into custody and charged for operating while intoxicated causing death. She’s in the Monroe County Jail. Her vehicle stopped 25 feet after slamming through the wall, the sheriff said.

Her name won’t be released until after she’s arraigned. Additional charges are possible, with the Monroe County Prosecutors announcing on Monday that the decision will be made on April 23.

The driver cooperated at the scene with investigators, according to Goodnough.

Investigators are still working to process evidence, interview witnesses, and reunite family members.

“The scene was described as the first responders as extremely chaotic, with high levels of emotions of those directly involved, and those who witnessed this horrific incident,” Goodnough said.

Investigators believe the woman may have been at nearby Verna’s Tavern before the wreck, the sheriff said. Detectives shut down the tavern and are in the process of executing a search warrant for information about how they conducted their business, Goodnough said.

The bar issued the following statement Monday: “We are saddened beyond words by the news of this horrible tragedy. Our most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to all those that lost their lives, their family members, witnesses and all of our Community that is in pain due to this incident. We ask for patience during the investigation and that the Justice system be allowed to work to uncover the actual facts surrounding the accident.”

Because the scene was chaotic, the sheriff said it’s not clear how many people were inside the building during the party.

The boat club said on social media that it is closed until further notice.

A GoFundMe was set up to help the family affected by the tragedy pay for funeral expenses.

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A young brother and sister died and several people were injured, some of them seriously, when a vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver crashed into a young child’s birthday party Saturday at a boat club, a Michigan sheriff said.

An 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother died at the scene in the crash, when a 66-year-old woman drove 25 feet (7.6 meters) into the building about 3 p.m. at the Swan Creek Boat Club in Berlin Township, about 30 miles (48.2 kilometers) south of Detroit, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said.

“The scene was described by the first responders as extremely chaotic, with high level of emotions of those directly involved and those who witnessed this horrific incident,” he said.

Three children and six adults were taken to area hospitals by two helicopters or ambulances with life-threatening injuries, he said. Others injured were given first aid at the scene and some were taken to hospitals by private vehicles.

Goodnough did not identify the woman driving the vehicle but said she was taken into custody and held at the Monroe County Jail suspected of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death. She was cooperating with authorities and likely would face more charges as the investigation continues, he said.

Authorities were notified the woman may have been at a nearby tavern before the incident, Goodnough said, adding they closed the establishment and planned to execute a search warrant there as part of the investigation.

Woman Charged With Murder After Driving Into a Party, Killing 2 Children

A woman in Michigan was charged with second-degree murder after driving her vehicle into a building where a birthday party was taking place on Saturday, killing two children and injuring 15 other people, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

The woman, Marshella Marie Chidester, 66, was also charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death, and four counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing serious injury, Jeffery A. Yorkey, the Monroe County prosecuting attorney, said. She was given a $1.5 million bond.

Bill Colovos, an attorney for Ms. Chidester, who appeared before District Court Judge Christian J. Horkey, said in court that Ms. Chidester did not have any previous traffic citations and that she had a history of seizures since November, saying that she experienced an “epileptic-type seizure in her legs.” The court entered a plea of not guilty for Ms. Chidester.

Mr. Colovos said that she had one glass of wine and a bowl of chili at a local tavern four hours before the crash, and had been treated for the seizures that same day and was on medication.

Prosecutors said Ms. Chidester was intoxicated on Saturday when she drove her vehicle into a wall of the Swan Boat Club in Berlin Township, Mich., where the birthday party was taking place, killing the children and injuring 15 other people.

An 8-year-old girl, Alanah Phillips, and her 4-year-old brother, Zayn Phillips, were killed when Ms. Chidester drove through the building, Sheriff Troy Goodnough of Monroe County, said at a news conference on Saturday. The vehicle stopped 25 feet inside, he said.

Ms. Chidester was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon and was held at the Monroe County jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death, which carries a penalty of as much as $10,000 in fines and 15 years in prison. The additional charges of second-degree murder carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.

As the judge was deciding on bond, family members and acquaintances spoke tearfully in court , most of them via video. Raquel Smothers, the aunt of the children, said: “We were supposed to be planning a birthday party for Zayn, not a funeral.”

A probable cause hearing was set for April 30.

Fifteen people were injured, including three children and six adults with life-threatening injuries. Among the people injured were the mother of the children and their older brother, according to a GoFundMe page started by the mother’s sister.

The police also executed a search warrant at a nearby tavern where the woman may have been before the crash.

The boat club in Berlin Township, which is southwest of Detroit and near the town of Newport, posted condolence messages for several days after the crash, along with the photographs of some of the victims and links to fund-raisers for funerals and medical expenses.

A local school district, Flat Rock Community Schools, said its community was “reeling from this devastating news, and our hearts ache for the families and loved ones of those affected by this unimaginable tragedy.”

The two children who were killed attended the Early Childhood Center and Bobcean Elementary School, while their 11-year-old brother, who was injured, is a student at Simpson Middle School. Counselors and social workers were available for students this week, the district said.
