All the guest spaces are line-free, making her entirely family friendly and safe for your young pirates. Her main cockpit, accessed from both side decks, is split into two areas: one with comfortable seating around a circular coffee table, the other serves as a comfortable dining area. For sun worshippers there is a large raised sunpad area on the aft deck behind the shaded cockpit, or you could sunbathe up forward, sailor-style in a hammock or on sun loungers.

The cherry wood panelled pilothouse, with its lounge, desk and wraparound views, is separated from the cockpit by doors on the port and starboard side, giving guests privacy while underway or at anchor. From the pilothouse steps lead down aft to the guest cabins and forward into the main lounge with its cosy lounge to port, extendable walnut table to starboard, another dining option, and large portholes.

She welcomes six to seven guests in three cabins. The master cabin is full beam and has a walk in wardrobe, a separate study area and a bathroom with marble-topped bath. She also has two twin cabins with generous en suites, one with an additional pullman child’s berth, making her perfectly suited for families.

NORFOLK STAR is for sale.

NORFOLK STAR is a 37m (121.4ft) pedigree sailing yacht, designed and built by renowned Italian shipyard Perini Navi. This yacht is in superb condition having recently undergone a multi-million euro refit in 2020, including a new main engine, two new generators, PLC system, Inmarsat VSAT dome, 505 Williams tender, Doyle sails and Reckmann rigging. NORFOLK STAR also had her full five-year Lloyd's survey.

The interior and exterior furnishings have been recovered, all surfaces and marble has been professionally cleaned and coated. The teak decks have been professionally sanded. No expense has been spared to bring this yacht to market in pristine order for a new owner.

On deck, the main cockpit is split into two areas, one with easy seating around a circular coffee table, whilst the other provides a dining area. Both can comfortably sit up to eight people.

For relaxation, a large cushioned sunbathing area is in position immediately behind the shaded cockpit. This is a favourite spot to watch the world as you sail by.

Down below, NORFOLK STAR's bright upper salon has a large L-shaped sofa around a coffee table and a forward facing desk, with panoramic views. Her interior is finished in cherry wood, and the large hull portholes give the interior a particularly light and airy feel.

From the upper salon a large stairway forward shows the way to the main salon. There are two sofas and a more formal dining area in the main salon which features an extendable walnut table.

This yacht offers a family-friendly layout with accommodation for six guests. On the lower deck, the full-width private master stateroom is found aft. Here you find a generous, glamorous space with walk-in wardrobe, en suite bathroom with a full bath, plus a seperate study area.

Next door are two twin cabins that sleep another four guests. There is no compromise in comfort, as each cabin comes with an en suite shower room. There is also the option of an additional pullman berth for an extra guest.

Once aboard, NORFOLK STAR looks after her guests with Samsung LED TVs, and Creston Control AV System. At anchor, the swimming platform drops into place on the starboard side, and all the water toys come out - there's something for everyone to have fun, from paddle boards and flight boards.

She is a quality yacht and has been well looked after offering everything required to provide a fantastic charter vacation. A total of 6 guests can be accommodated in 3 charming cabins. She was refitted in 2020 and has a crew of 5 on board.

The main cockpit, accessed from both side decks, is naturally split into two areas: one with comfortable seating around a circular coffee table, while the other provides a dining area. Both can accommodate up to eight people. A large raised cushioned sunbathing area is situated immediately behind the shaded cockpit.

The pilothouse is separated from the cockpit by doors on the port and starboard side, giving guests privacy either underway or at anchor. A deck refrigerator is conveniently situated here.

Up forward, under the shade of a loose awning, a hammock and sun loungers take full advantage of the foredeck breeze.

Stairs lead down from the pilothouse to a raised upper saloon. This bright, open saloon has two settees around a coffee table and a forward facing deck, with panoramic views. Stairs lead aft to the guest accommodation, while a large stairway forward shows the way to the main saloon.

The main saloon, two settees and an armchair are around three sides of a coffee table. A large hidden plasma screen with surround sound system makes up the entertainment system. On the starboard side, a more formal dining area has room for six around an extendable, walnut inlaid table. Off the main saloon is a day head to starboard and a small cabin to port, suitable for use as a berth for staff or another crew member. A door forward leads into the galley and crew mess.

From the upper saloon, the stairs lead aft down a central corridor. To port and starboard are two twin guest staterooms, the one to port also having a Pullman berth, and both with very generous ensuite shower rooms. Fully aft is a full-width master stateroom with walk-in wardrobe. A separate study area and ensuite bathroom with bath, complete the owners’ suite.

NORFOLK STAR Specifications

For the size of yacht, NORFOLK STAR has an exceptional amount of different living areas. Guests can relax together or can find a quiet area to hideaway. The interior is finished in cherry wood, and the large hull portholes give the interior a particularly light and airy feel.

NORFOLK STAR boasts all the finest features to be expected from the renowned Perini Navi shipyard of Viareggio, Italy and she combines performance with an exceptional degree of comfort. In addition to a large aft deck area, there is fine saloon space on two levels, making her ideal for cruising in all weather conditions. Indeed NORFOLK STAR has proven her long-range sailing credentials with a full global circumnavigation. Following the renewal of her ABS Special Survey and an extensive refit in Spring 2006 she is in magnificent condition.

Throughout the yacht there is a vast array of plush seating and dining areas, including a large shaded circular dining table in the aft cockpit, perfect for alfresco meals. How the 37m Norfolk Star went from expert racer to luxury world cruiser

As soon as the current owner purchased Norfolk Star ( ex. Khalessi) in 2018, the historical sailing yacht was to be filled with the whole family and a new adventure was to begin. But first, he invested in a multi-million dollar refit.

Completed in 2020, the work involved the yacht's five-year Lloyd's survey and the repainting of her hull, which has gone from a dark blue colour to striking bottle green. As a British businessman and a keen yachtsman, the owner had always dreamed of owning a Perini Navi, and his opportunity came when Norfolk Star ( ex. Khalessi) was on show at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2018. “And there she was – a lovely 37 metre Perini Navi. The rest is history,” he said. 

As well as a new main engine, the owner added two new generators and a Williams 505 tender. A variety of the yacht’s systems were also upgraded to include a PLC system, Inmarsat VSAT dome, Doyle sails and Reckmann rigging. As soon as the work was completed, the owner set off in the direction of the Caribbean to fully enjoy the yacht with her brand new furnishings and freshly sanded teak decks.

Now listed for sale with Burgess , Norfolk Star has been transformed into a luxurious modern version of a classic sailing yacht. Still with a fresh cherry wood finish, the interiors are lightened by plush cream carpets and soft furnishings, with grey-veined white marble in the bathrooms and large portholes along the hull to bring in streams of natural light. 

Her two bright interior saloons have been designed so that time inside the yacht is relaxing and enjoyable while underway. Fitted with a cosy seating area, an office space and enough windows to grant panoramic views, the upper saloon is connected to the main saloon via a grand stairway. Here, guests will find more sofas and a formal dining area formed by a rich walnut table.

Those who like to be out on deck while sailing can do so in the shelter of the yacht’s main cockpit. Designed to be split into two areas – one for seating and one for dining – the cockpit can ensure everyone on board can collectively feel the thrill of being under sail. “On board I like the silence and the sound of the wind in the sails, and I’ve noticed that I feel much safer on a sailing boat than on a motor yacht,” said the current owner.

Another unique trait of Norfolk Star is her history, which began back in 1987 when a British entrepreneur wanted to sail the world. As an experienced yachtsman, the owner chose to rely on the expertise of Perini Navi and interior designer Bruce Farr to design and build a brand-new 36.8-metre superyacht. In 1996, the completed schooner was handed over to her owner under the name of Salperton .

The yacht, with her original dark navy hull, go-faster red stripe and crisp white superstructure and sails, was home to her first owner for many years. She was a force to be reckoned with on the race track and competed regularly. Regattas such as the Perini Navi Cup were her chosen competitions, and in 2013, she secured first place in Perini Navi’s Class B race.

When not occupied by her racing crew or cruising with her owner, the yacht, known as Northern Spirit between 2000 and 2015 and Khaleesi from 2015 to 2018, was available for charter in many of the world’s yachting hotspots – one being the Great Lakes of North America. As Captain Damien Dempsey recalls, in the summer of 2014, the area offered “spectacular sailing with flat water and optimum 15 to 20-knot winds.”

Having been home at sea to families, small groups and solo sailors alike, Norfolk Star 's layout of three guest cabins is perfect for six guests, including the owner, who has a dedicated full-width private master stateroom to the aft of the yacht. This glamorous space is completed by a walk-in wardrobe, ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and a separate study area. Next door, two twin cabins, both with ensuite shower rooms, can sleep another four guests. In case there is one more overnight guest, one of the rooms features an additional Pullman berth.

To keep her guests entertained, Norfolk Star is home to an impressive toy store featuring a tender, water skis, windsurfs, kayaks, inflatables and fishing gear. And for the businessmen and women on board, her office and internet service can keep the yacht in touch with work commitments back on land. All these features and more is why time spent on board Norfolk Star is said to “capture the true essence of sailing and combined with the luxury of a world-class hotel”.
