Yachtcare Gelcoat VT repair kit is used for repairing small gel damage in underwater and underwater areas. The kit consists of 180g gel coat, CHP hardener, sanding paper, tape, spatula, self-separating film and detailed instructions for use. Area of application: In case of fine cracks, deep scuffs and small rashes in the outer skin of a fiberglass body, the laminate under the Gelcoat coating must be protected again from water infiltration. Infiltration of water or moisture would permanently damage the strength of the laminate. Features • Contents: 200 g jar with CHP hardener • Colour: RAL 9010 pure white • Pot duration: approx. 20 minutes at 20° C. at 3% CHP hardener.

FÜR EIN GELUNGENES REFIT

YACHTCARE Reparatur bietet den Eignern von Motor- und Segelbooten eine umfassende Auswahl an Produkten für eine Gelcoatreparatur. Unsere Arbeitsanleitung zeigt Ihnen Schritt für Schritt, wie Sie die Reparatur richtig ausführen.

Eine hässliche Schramme, eine kleine Abplatzung oder ein kleiner Riss im Gelcoat passieren leider schneller als man denkt und sind sehr ärgerlich. Aber nicht nur die perfekte Optik des Schiffes ist beeinträchtigt, sondern auch das unter dem Gelcoat liegende, dunkel erscheinende Laminat kann in Mitleidenschaft gezogen werden. Durch die kleinen Kratzer und Schadstellen in der Außenseite kann Feuchtigkeit ungehindert in das Laminat eindringen und die Festigkeit schädigen. Mit den geeigneten Produkten kann der Eigner hier schnell Abhilfe schaffen und mit geringem Aufwand den Schaden selbst reparieren.

GELCOAT REPAIR KIT VT

Vorbereitung der Reparatur: Die in der Regel kleine und schmale Schadensstelle muss zunächst weiter geöffnet und V-förmig vertieft werden. Durch die Schleifarbeit werden alle Schmutz- und Fettrückstände entfernt und eine spätere gute Anhaftung der Reparaturmasse zum Untergrund wird erzielt. Im Anschluss werden alle Staubrückstände z. B. mit einem Staubbindetuch entfernt. Die Reparaturstelle wird an den vier Flankenseiten in einem Abstand von ca. 1 mm zur Schadensstelle mit einem dünnen Klebeband abgeklebt.

DIE ABKLEBUNG ERFÜLLT WICHTIGE FUNKTIONEN:

1.) Dient sie dazu, genügend Material in die Öffnung zu bringen zu können, damit zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt ausreichend Masse zum Planschleifen vorhanden ist.

2.) stellt die flächige Abklebung sicher, dass die angrenzenden Flächen nicht übermäßig mit dem Reparatur-Gelcoat verschmutzt werden.

RICHTIG ANMISCHEN

Nach dieser gründlichen Vorbereitung wird die benötigte Menge Gelcoat aus dem Gebinde entnommen und im Mischbecher (Haube des Sets) mit dem CHP-Härter vermengt. Gelcoat und Härter werden sorgfältig miteinander vermischt. Bei der Vermengung ist darauf zu achten, dass der Härter vollständig untergerührt wird. Die Masse langsam verrühren, damit keine Luftblasen eingerührt werden. Danach wird die thixotrope Masse in die Schadensstelle mit einem Spachtel oder Pinsel eingebracht und glattgestrichen.

ARBEITEN MIT HOSTAPHAN-FOLIE

Über die komplette Reparaturstelle wird die im Set enthaltene HOSTAPHAN-FOLIE (Trennfolie) gelegt und mit dem beiliegenden Klebeband fixiert. Die Folie sorgt für eine klebefreie Aushärtung der Oberfläche unter Luftabschluss. Vorhandene Lufteinschlüsse unter der Folie werden vorsichtig herausgedrückt. Speziell an senkrechten Flächen kann bei Bedarf noch ein Stück Pappe als zusätzliche Stütze über die Folie geklebt werden. Das Gelcoat benötigt ca. 2 Stunden bei 20°C zur Aushärtung. Nach der Härtung wird die Folie wieder abgezogen und man kann mit dem Aufarbeiten und Glätten der Reparaturstelle durch Schleifen beginnen.

REPARATURSTELLEN BEARBEITEN

Um eine optimale Ebene und hochglänzende Flächen zu erhalten, muss die Reparaturstelle mit einem Schleifklotz bearbeitet werden. Man beginnt mit einem gröberen Schleifpapier (120er Körnung), um schnell und gezielt die Fläche zu glätten. In den nächsten Schritten verwendet man immer feineres Schleifpapier. Zuletzt schleift ein Nassschleifpapier mit 1000er Körnung die Oberfläche so fein, das sie eine Endpolitur erhalten kann

HOCHGLÄNZENDES ENDERGEBNIS

Für ein hochglänzendes Endergebnis verwendet man die Schleif- und Polierpaste REFINISH ONE. Die Polierpaste wird gleichmäßig auf die zu polierende Fläche aufgetragen und mit der Hand oder besser mit einer Poliermaschine und dem POLISHING PAD (Schaumteller) aufpoliert. Die Poliermaschine sollte maximal eine Umdrehung von U/Min. aufweisen, um durch die Wärmeentwicklung das Gelcoat nicht zu schädigen.

VERSIEGELUNG

Zur Langzeitkonservierung des Gelcoats wird zu guter Letzt BOAT WAX (oder ähnlich geeignete Versiegelungen wie z. B. REFINISH PREMIUM GLOSS) verwendet, um die Fläche vor UV-Licht zu schützen und unempfindlicher gegen Verschmutzung zu machen. Das Wachs wird dünn mit einem Lappen aufgetragen. Nach einer Ablüftzeit von ca. 20 Minuten wird die Fläche mit einem fusselfreiem Lappen manuell auf Hochglanz poliert. Nach 2 Stunden kann ggf. ein zweiter Wachsauftrag vorgenommen werden.

TIPP von DOCTOR BOAT

Falls das Stück Hostaphan-Folie nicht ausreicht, kann man eine andere Trennfolie aus PET verwenden.

GELCOAT VT REPAIRKIT is suitable for repairing minor damage, even below the waterline. Various colours are available and can be mixed together. If your exact colour is not available, it can be adjusted with PU pigment paste . The kit contains: 180 g gelcoat, 20 g hardener paste, hostaphan film, tape, sandpaper, plastic spatula and a manual. Cures at +20° in approx. 30 minutes. Tip Instead of hostaphan film, PET film can be used for separation. When using, always apply a layer of at least 1 mm thick to ensure full cross-linking during the curing process.
