What a wonderful family at this yacht club. The activities are nonstop, from dining to cruising, to parties to dinghy cruises around the bay. You will find your people here. They are so friendly and welcoming. The best view in the bay. The Venue is available for rentals we well. Come in where everyone knows you name.

Friendliest club on the bay with a waterfront patio for drinks, food, parties, and view!

The place was short on glassware. Employees thought everything was gonna be stolen. Employees treat everybody like children.

This is THE Fun Yacht Club in the Long Beach area. Great people, lots of fun events - on the water or on the beach. If you are thinking about joining a Club in Long Beach -- you have to check out Seal Beach Yacht Club!

I attended the Club's annual Christmas party. These folks know how to party! Great dinner, excellent band (the "Dave's Not Home"), and bar service that would not stop! The Club members obviously all knew each other well and got along famously. It must be from all of those boat races, trips to Catalina Island, and meet-ups with other clubs. The members formed a very good choir that was most entertaining. We were also serenaded by a beatuful trumpet solo. Thanks for having me as a guest. Merry Christmas to all!

I'm attending "America's Boating Course" offered by the Alamitos Bay Power Squadron - the local chapter of a recreational boating organization. A USGA for Boats? It is held a this pleasant and quaint local Seal Beach Yacht Club, which is on the back side of the famous "Schooner or Later" diner (Diners, Drive-in and Dives - season 1(?)). Its also adjacent to West Marine - an awesome marine boating supermarket. Joe's Crab Shack is across the parking lot, and Mimi's Cafe is located across the Marine Drive. There is ample parking in the free parking lot, at least on Wednesday nights. This course is an intro to boating and a great primer of safety. The US Coast Guard highly rates this course as one of the most comprehensive offered. I've already ran out and bought new fire extinguishers for home, and a set of marine hand carried VHS radios for emergency communications. The course is 5 week long on Wed nights 7-9pm. the 1st 4 weeks are course instruction and the last week is a written close book test. Your $50 registration fee provides a great book, and many nice goodies in a handy shore sack. I highly recommend this course. And I don't event own a boat (YET!). Many insurance companies will give you a discount on your premium when you get your course certification. The Power squadron is a great group of guys and gals, and are a venerable font of marine knowledge for a neophyte like me.

Awesome fun club! Great racing! Very active cruising to Catalina, San Diego, Marina Del Rey and Channel Islands. Members welcome new members and guests! Plus nice clubhouse right on Alamitos Bay Marina, and the boat slips are in the process of being upgraded by the City of Long Beach.

My son and his friend took the beginning sabot class here on the recommendation of a friend who loved the place for her sons. We were disappointed because the course was taught by disinterested teenagers who don't seem to actually want anything to do with teaching children to sail. When one of the other kids was not cooperating, the entire class was penalized and could not have sailing time. That's bogus when we had paid to have our kids learning. I absolutely would not recommend the kids' class.

SEAL BEACH YACHT CLUB

If you want to race your own boat Seal Beach Yacht Club is the club for you. We are a major PHRF (Performance Handicap Racing Fleet) Regatta sponsor. Ask around the harbor to get an appreciation for the outstanding job our race committee does.

At a typical Seal Beach Yacht Club race there are 40 to 50 boats in 4 or 5 classes.

We sponsor 3 major series of races:

Saturday Sailors Series is 5 races from January through March. This will motivate you to get your boat out of the slip even on a cold winter’s day, but this is Southern California! No worries about ice or snow.

Our Pop-Top Series is on Thursday nights from May through September: 5 series, with 4 races per series for a total of 20 races. The burger bash and awards ceremonies are a must attend event (even if you didn’t race).

Sunday Sailors Series is 3 races in November and early December. A hearty group of racers participate and race for fun and trophies.

In addition, we sponsor the Night Point Fermin Race, co-sponsor the Seal Beach to Dana Point Race, co-sponsor the Outlaw Regatta; and host races for the SCYA Midwinter Regatta and in the Yacht Clubs of Long Beach Charity Regatta to raise funds for the Miller Children’s Hospital.

All boats participating in races must be members of a yacht club. Seal Beach Yacht Club has a unique Race Only membership for those yachtsmen who ONLY want to race their boat. Ask our membership person for more details.
