Does this 357-Foot New Yacht Belong to Steven Spielberg?

Oceanco is keeping details of the mammoth vessel’s owner under wraps.

By Irenie Forshaw

Steven Spielberg yacht

Oceanco is used to catering for the fabulously wealthy; earlier this year the Dutch shipbuilder delivered Jeff Bezos’s gleaming new ship , Koru. Now, the rumor mill is going into overdrive once again. This time, Steven Spielberg is reportedly the billionaire behind its newest yacht: Seven Seas.

Spanning 357 feet, the mammoth motoryacht isn’t as long as Koru – which scooped the title of the longest sailing yacht on the planet at 417 ft – but she does cut an impressive figure. This isn’t Spielberg’s first foray into the yachting world – the Hollywood director had his first ship (also called Seven Seas ) delivered by Oceanco back in 2010.

The original Seven Seas – whose name is inspired by Spielberg’s seven children – measured 282 feet and boasted an expansive spa , gym, beauty salon, and, of course, movie theatre. But the four-time Academy Award winner sold the ship to Canadian billionaire Barry Zekelman in 2021 for a cool $151m (the ship has since been renamed Man of Steel).

It seems Spielberg has caught the superyacht bug; the new Seven Seas is even bigger and more lavish than her predecessor. So, what do we know about the director’s latest ship? While Oceanco has remained relatively tight-lipped on the project, a few key details have emerged which we’ll dive into here.

Who is building Steven Spielberg’s new yacht?

Spielberg yacht Seven Seas

The superyacht – previously known as project Y720 – was commissioned back in 2022 for a whopping $250m. She was built by Oceanco – the same shipyard that made Spielberg’s old boat in Alblasserdam, a town in the western Netherlands around 12 miles from Rotterdam. Omani billionaire businessman Mohammed al Barwani bought the luxury shipyard back in 2010 (he also owns Turquoise Yachts in Istanbul).

Oceanco has an impressive track record when it comes to building jaw-dropping superyachts. As well as recently unveiling Bezos’s Koru, four years ago the shipbuilder delivered Black Pearl – a striking three-mast vessel which, at 350 ft, became the largest sailing yacht in the world at the time, and garnered attention for its cutting-edge eco-credentials.

What do we know about the design?

steven spielberg yacht

Oceanco collaborated with Dutch firm Sinot Yacht Architecture Design to build Spielberg’s new yacht. The project was overseen by Lateral Naval Architects, with the team carrying out an “extensive optimization process” to ensure Seven Seas met the highest performance standards (she is the first LY3-compliant yacht to feature a Marine Evacuation System).

Powered by twin MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesel engines, she is able to reach top speeds of up to 20 knots and weighs in at 4,444 GT. Her sleek steel hull, teak deck, and lightweight aluminum superstructure give her a graceful silhouette; this is certainly a yacht to turn heads.

Considerably larger than Spielberg’s former yacht, Seven Seas 2.0 can host up to 14 guests across seven cabins (so there’s plenty of space for his entire family). There’s also room onboard for up to 30 crew, plus a gym, pool, spa, beach club, helipad and tender garage. Oh, and there’s a movie theatre too. Obviously.

The fourth largest project delivered by Oceanco to date, she was glimpsed for the first time in March 2022 being rolled out of the construction shed at the shipyard and was spotted in the Port of Gibraltar in early July.

How about the interiors?

Spielberg yacht exterior

It’s extremely unlikely we’ll get to see inside Spielberg’s new yacht anytime soon, but we do know the interiors onboard Seven Seas have been crafted by Beverly Hills-based designer Molly Isaksen (in a telling sign she was also brought in for the interiors onboard Man of Steel ).

While details remain sparse, Oceanco did reveal we can expect plenty of “natural materials and glass onboard, offering guests an unparalleled outward-looking experience”.

Seven Seas

It’s a wrap for Steven Spielberg’s superyacht Seven Seas .

The world-famous director finally sold his epic 282-footer last week to an unknown buyer, according to Merle Wood & Associates . Although the brokerage firm did not specificity the amount paid, the vessel, now known as Man of Steel , was listed earlier this year for $160 million . Thom Conboy of Denison Yachting represented the buyer, who is apparently a longtime repeat client.

The blockbuster yacht, built by noted shipyard Oceanco to Spielberg’s exact specifications, first hit the seas back in 2010. The Academy Award winner, who has a net worth of $3.7 billion, spared no expense when designing his dream machine, and this is the first time it has been offered for sale.

The glitzy interior, which was penned by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen, spans four decks and offers ample space for entertaining A-listers. The vessel can accommodate 20 guests across nine generous staterooms, as well as 28 crew. The scene-stealer is, of course, Spielberg’s owner’s suite, which features a full-beam stateroom with ensuite and dressing room, along with an office and a terrace with its own private jacuzzi.

Naturally, Seven Seas is brimming with amenities fit for film royalty, including supersized screens in every room and a full movie theater. Elsewhere, there is a sauna, steam room, gym, pool, huge beach club, helipad and countless lounge areas and bars. As expected, there’s also a fully-stocked garage packed with a tender, speedboat, water toys and diving gear.

Spielberg ensured Seven Seas lived up to her name, too. Over the past decade, the 74-year-old has taken the go-anywhere superyacht all across the seven seas. It’s been spotted sailing off the coast of France during the Cannes Film Festival, and, more recently, on the waters near Antigua and Barbuda. The yacht’s transatlantic capability comes courtesy of twin MTU engines packing 4,680 hp each. She can hit a top speed of 20 knots or cruise at a more leisurely 15 knots.

Now that Spielberg has called cut on Seven Seas , we are patiently awaiting his next marine masterpiece.

Steven Spielberg Lists His Superyacht for $160 Million

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Beyond his West Coast megahomes , Steven Spielberg also owns a 282-foot-long superyacht. The legendary film director bought it in 2010, but after a decade of ownership, Dirt reports that he’s putting his custom-crafted vessel, Seven Seas, up for sale with a high asking price of around $160 million.

The massive mansion-sized vessel was named after his seven kids and his former wife, actress Kate Capshaw . Built by Oceanco, it features four decks, 45,000 gallons of fresh water, and a 77,000-gallon fuel tank with a range of up to 5,200 miles, which is more than enough for a transatlantic trip. Apart from all the space and power, the yacht is equipped with a swimming pool, multiple spas, a total of 17 televisions, easy-to-control smart-home technology, and much more.

In order to operate things safely, the listing says it takes a crew of 28 people. When it came to design and decor, Spielberg called on the expertise of Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen. Upon entering, there’s a wood-paneled common area that has elegant built-in shelves lined with books and even a bar set up with Guinness on draft.

The moviemaker’s main suite is on the upper level with a private study, an extensive wardrobe, and a decked-out bathroom that’s bigger than most New York City studio apartments. Naturally, one of the standout amenities is the ship’s state-of-the-art screening room complete with plush sofas and a baby grand piano. Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention the one-of-a-kind views all around the Jaws director’s boat—though, of course, they are ever-changing.

The Incredible Features Of Steven Spielberg's $160 Million Superyacht

steven spielberg smiling

In 2021, the Seven Seas, the luxury yacht belonging to billionaire movie director Steven Spielberg, was sold to billionaire steel magnate Barry Zekelman after being listed for almost $158 million earlier in the year (via Bloomberg ).

Spielberg first commissioned the 282-foot yacht in 2010. The superyacht was designed by Oceanco, a luxury shipbuilding company from the Netherlands. If the name sounds familiar, this company has also recently built a superyacht for Amazon founder  Jeff Bezos . The Seven Seas was custom-made for the award-winning film director and has lots of amenities and high-end features. It's a powerful ship that can hit a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. The yacht also has two MTU engines, which provide a walloping 4,680 horsepower each, according to Robb Report .

In the past, this yacht has been sailing all over and has been seen cruising off the coast of France during the Cannes Film Festival, and in the Caribbean near the islands of Antigua and Barbuda.

It's decked out inside

The Seven Seas has four spacious decks and plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining guests. It features nine cabins that can accommodate up to 20 people, plus 28 crew members. The owner's suite for Spielberg is gorgeous and has a deck with a jacuzzi, office, and private terrace. It also has a full-beam VIP stateroom on the main deck with several other cabins on the lower deck (via Robb Report and Superyacht Times ).

Designers Nuvolari Lenard and Molly Isaksen collaborated to create the boat's lush wooden-themed interior (via Architectural Digest ). As would be expected, a yacht as opulent as the Seven Seas is jam-packed with amenities for Spielberg and his guests to enjoy. Published photos of the Seven Seas show jumbo screens in every room and a home cinema onboard. You can also find a sauna, steam room, gym, massage room, lounge areas, bars, and a swimming pool. This yacht is so large it can even accommodate a helipad. Like other superyachts, it comes with the standard garage where you can fit speedboats, water toys, and diving gear.

Now that Steven Spielberg has sold his yacht, fans just have to wait and see if another mega yacht is coming in the future.

Steven Spielberg’s 282-Foot Superyacht Is a Floating Mansion. It Could Be Yours for $160 Million.

Rich people have multimillion-dollar mansions, maybe even a couple of them. Some even have airplanes. But really rich people, the kind with rivers of money to burn on unnecessary high-maintenance luxuries, have boats. And we’re not talking about boats to skitter around the local lake, but rather multi-deck vessels as long as a football field that are able to cross the oceans with handfuls of staterooms as finely appointed as a five-star boutique hotel and on-board garages full of smaller boats and other watercraft.

Johnny Depp sold his 156-footer in 2015 to JK Rowling, who kept it only about a year or two before selling it on with an asking price of about $20 million ; Giorgio Armani’s 213-foot yacht Main is ominously painted entirely black; Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg ply international waters in their three-mast sailing vessel Eos; and David Geffen somewhat infamously self-isolated in the Grenadines on his titanic 454-footer Rising Sun last year during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Giorgio Armani Is Investing in an Italian Superyacht Builder

It typically takes several years to commission, design and build a mansion-sized yacht, and Hollywood heavy hitter Steven Spielberg took delivery of his custom-crafted 282-foot-long Seven Seas in 2010. Now, after a decade of ownership, not to mention reports dating to 2015 that he’d commissioned an even bigger boat, Spielberg’s Seven Seas is available with a breathtaking asking price of €131 million , about $160 million at today’s rates.

According to online marketing materials, Seven Seas was built to the owner’s exacting specifications by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco with interior design and décor by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen . The standard set up for the four-deck, Beverly Hills mansion-sized behemoth accommodates 15-20 people in seven (and potentially nine) cabins over four decks. Specifications indicate the navy-blue-hulled boat, which is nearly 47 feet wide, has a maximum speed of 19.5 knots (about 22 mph) and a crew of 28, carries 45,000 gallons of fresh water and 77,000 gallons of fuel that at a cruising speed of 15 knots allow it a range of 5,200 miles, more than enough for a transatlantic crossing.

Onboard amenities include a swimming pool, two spas, a total of 17 televisions (plus a screening room), a camera-quipped security system that includes a pirate protection unit and comprehensive smart home technology that controls the audio-visual systems, lighting, climate and window treatments via an iPad.

Spotted in Gibraltar last summer and fall amid the COVID-19 lockdowns, marketing materials indicate Seven Seas is registered in the Cayman Islands.

A curvaceous stairway winds between the various decks but it’s much more fun and less strenuous to us the glass elevator.

The wood-paneled main saloon, on an upper deck along with the owner’s suite, is a ballroom-sized space that spans the full width of the boat with multiple seating arrangements, a large TV and a bar with Guinness on draft. Aft of the saloon, a circular dining room has curved walls of floor-to-ceiling glass that slide open to a teak deck perfect for alfresco pre-and post-dinner cocktails.

Five guest cabins are fitted with ample wardrobes, desk space and a private bathroom, while a full-beam VIP guest cabin, which can be divided into two separate cabins, offers a private sitting room, three closets and two bathrooms.

The owner’s suite occupies a wing of its own on an upper deck with a private office/study, a full-beam stateroom with multiple seating areas, an extensive dressing room lined with built-in wardrobes, and a bathroom that all by itself is larger than a typical Manhattan studio apartment.

The owner’s suite also includes a private deck and spa tub nestled into the boat’s long prow.

Unsurprisingly given its owner, Seven Seas incorporates a state-of-the-art screening room with tiered seating on plush sofas, a full bar and, for impromptu sing-alongs, a baby grand piano.

The uppermost deck includes the bridge and captain’s quarters along with a fitness room and spa complete with massage room, sauna and steam room. A curved wall of glass slides open at the touch of a button to provide access to a sun-splashed deck with a spa tub.

Outside the screening room, at the aft section of the boat, a partially covered 2,700-square-foot teak deck offers a bar, a dining space that comfortably seats 22 and plenty of room to lounge about on cushioned loungers around the swimming pool. Steps on either side of the pool lead down to a swim deck.

The Seven Seas ’ snazzy trio of onboard tenders is every bit as luxe as the yacht they serve and includes a 31-foot sport boat and, for less windy jaunts, a 34-foot “limo” tender. The boat’s massive garage also contains three Wave Runners and a slew of diving equipment, including four Seabobs.

The three-time Oscar winner, who named Seven Seas after not only the seven seas of the world but also his seven children, and his wife, former actress Kate Capshaw, sold their sprawling ocean-front compound in Malibu in 2015 for $26 million to real estate tycoon Steve Gozini, who unsuccessfully tried to sell it the following year for $35 million. Still, they maintain an impressive roster of terra firma residences. In addition to their 20,000-square-foot Mediterranean villa in L.A.’s posh Pacific Palisades — the house was previously owned by Dougles Fairbanks, Jr., David O. Selznick, Cary Grant and Barbara Hutton and Bobby Vinton, there’s a nearby equestrian facility tucked into a quiet canyon. And, on the other coast, they preside over a pond-front multi-residence estate in one of the more coveted areas in the Hamptons that includes a barn-style main house and a guest house designed by famed architect Charles Gwathmey.

By Joyce Chen

Steven Spielberg mainly resides at his properties in the Hamptons and the Pacific Palisades.

Though he’s been in the movie business for more than 50 years, Steven Spielberg only recently shared his own story through the award-winning autobiographical drama  The Fabelmans.  The iconic director has largely kept his private life out of the spotlight, preferring his professional accomplishments to take center stage, but what is known about his off-screen pursuits is that he has a deep love for real estate and luxury vehicles.

“The only difference between redoing the house and making a film is that I paid for it,” he once  told  Architectural Digest  of turning his Pacific Palisades estate into his dream home. In other words, the intentionality and attention to detail that the director is so well-known for onscreen extends into his vast real estate portfolio. Over the years, he has bought and sold properties in Malibu, New York City, East Hampton, and Naples, Florida (though details on his homes there are scarce), among other locales. Here, we’ve rounded up a few of the places he’s called home.

A view of the main house from inside the guesthouse at Spielbergs East Hampton compound.

In the earlier years of Spielberg’s career, he and his then wife, Amy Irving, lived between an apartment in Manhattan and a summer cottage in the Hamptons. Spielberg had reportedly purchased the main property for the 3.9-acre Hamptons compound at the recommendation of his mentor, media mogul Steve Ross. The director worked with architect Charles Gwathmey to reimagine the main house from an 18th-century Dutch barn (the family later dubbed the house Quelle Barn). Spielberg’s favorite feature of the home? “The statement of the staircase,” he told  AD in May 1988, of the zigzagging stairs that run through the middle of the barn.

In 1991, Spielberg called upon Gwathmey to construct an additional cedar-shingle modern guesthouse, which  was featured in  AD. “Working with Steven is great because he is visual, yet he also believes in collaboration,” Gwathmey told  AD at the time. The building is single-story and features two primary bedrooms that each have their own fireplace, window seat, and outdoor terrace. At the opposite end of the skylit gallery are the children’s bedrooms, outfitted with bunk beds. Several years later, the director and the architect collaborated again after Spielberg purchased several more acres, this time constructing a second guesthouse, a garage with staff rooms above it, and stables. Spielberg still owns this property.

The San Remo in New York City.

Spielberg’s longtime Manhattan apartment is located in the San Remo building, easily one of the most expensive and coveted apartment co-ops in the world. Though it’s unclear when and for how much the director purchased his home in the prewar Beaux Arts building designed by Emery Roth, what is known is that  he owns  a pad on the 17th floor measuring 6,000 square feet and overlooking Central Park West. In 2000,  the  Times reported that fellow residents in the 27-floor luxury building were unhappy with the “jackhammering and renovation” that was going on, so it is safe to assume that Spielberg has made some upgrades to the unit since his purchase. Other celebrities who have lived in the San Remo include Steve Jobs, Bono, Diane Keaton, Bruce Willis, Mary Tyler Moore, and Tiger Woods.

Before Spielberg purchased the five-bedroom, six-bathroom Pacific Palisades property that would become his primary residence, he  already owned two other places in LA—a bachelor pad in Coldwater Canyon and a beach house in Malibu. When he and Irving decided to look for a more permanent home on the West Coast, however, they went with something slightly larger: a 10,000-square-foot tile-roof stucco mansion situated on three hillside acres overlooking the city. “It was like going to Hawaii and finding the perfect cove,” he  told  AD of the residence’s prime location. The Mediterranean-style mansion, which was previously owned by Cary Grant and David O. Selznick, among other Hollywood luminaries, was already impressive, but Spielberg took it upon himself to  further reimagine parts of the property, enlisting the help of architect Harry Newman.

He doubled its size to 20,000 square feet; created a hobbit-themed TV room with mushroom-shaped windows, a retractable television screen, and curved walls; and installed a 14,000-gallon curved aquarium in the primary bathroom. In the mid-’90s, he added two important structures to the property: a guesthouse and a study, which he wanted to integrate “as if they had always been there,” he told  AD in April 1994. The three structures are connected via a spiral ramp reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s late work. Spielberg also  added a vineyard  to the property in 2013. The director and his current wife, Kate Capshaw, still consider this compound their primary residence, and  it has been estimated  to be worth upwards of $100 million by the website Celebrity Net Worth.

Spielberg purchased the first of two Malibu properties that would become a mega-compound for $3.375 million this year. More than a decade later, in 2000, he would buy the second for $3.2 million. The two-parcel spread comprised 1.41 acres with a 7,237-square-foot main house and a separate, self-contained guesthouse.  Built in the Arts & Crafts style, the seven-bedroom, eight-and-a-half bathroom residence included a media lounge with a fireplace, a dining area with a bay window, and a spacious home theater. The second-floor primary suite boasted an oceanside terrace, a massage room, and a private library. Spielberg and Capshaw put the sprawling residence  up for rent in 2013, asking $125,000 a month (later, it rose to $150,000 a month) before finally  selling it in an off-market deal for $26 million in 2015.

Spielberg next expanded his East Hampton holdings with the purchase of  a 1900s home for $20 million. The Hollywood icon promptly razed the existing house and planned to build a new mansion in its place on the three-acre pond-front lot, but nothing came of the building plans for years. Finally, in 2014, he  quietly listed the empty  Georgica Cove lot for $24.5 million. It  sold for $21.25 million several months later.

Spielberg then turned his attention from land to sea, commissioning the construction of a 282-foot mega-yacht he named  Seven Seas after his seven children and his wife. The oceanic behemoth was built by Netherlands-based company Oceano, and featured four decks, a swimming pool, multiple spas, full cinema, and helipad. It  could easily accommodate up to 20 guests in its nine staterooms, as well as up to 28 crew members, and with its 77,000-gallon fuel tank, could potentially make a transatlantic trip. The main suite on the upper level featured a private study, a walk-in closet, and a spacious bathroom with spa. Spielberg  listed  Seven Seas for $160 million in spring 2021 and  sold it several months later for  a reported $150 million, to billionaire steel baron Barry Zekelman. The yacht has since been appropriately renamed to  Man of Steel . It has been rumored that in 2019,  Spielberg commissioned Oceano to build a new, even larger yacht measuring 358 feet.

Built by Dutch shipbuilding company Oceanco, The Seven Seas is packed with amenities. An infinity pool, 15-foot glass movie screen, helicopter pad, gym, spa, and massage room are just a few of the luxuries that are reportedly onboard.

As for accommodations, there's one master suite, two VIP suites, two double bed cabins, and one cabin with a twin bed. In total, the yacht can sleep 12.

Spielberg is currently chartering out the massive yacht to the tune of $1.2 million a month — making it one of the most expensive charters in the world, the Daily Mail reports.

His new yacht will be a mere 18 feet bigger, reaching the coveted 300-foot threshold and costing a cool $250 million to build.

Steven Spielberg Replaced His 282-Foot Superyacht with This 358-Foot Superyacht

After listing his old 282-Foot Superyacht for sale at $160 million , and selling it for $150 million, Steven Spielberg is about to take delivery of his new, improved, much bigger, and much more expensive 358-foot superyacht. Check it out.

spielberg new yacht

Codenamed Project Y720, Spielberg’s new boat is built by Oceanco , the same shipyard that made his old boat. Oceanco is also building a $500 million superyacht for Jeff Bezos . There are no words on what Spielberg is paying for his new toy, but if you go by the $500 million Jeff is paying for his 417 footer, that works out to $1.2 million a foot. At 358 foot, Project Y720 should come in at $430 million, but don’t quote me on that.

Spielberg ordered the yacht way back in 2019, and marked a milestone for Oceanco because it was the first yacht to complete construction between Oceanco’s two facilities in Zwijndrecht and Alblasserdam, The Netherlands. In fact, she essentially christened the Zwijndrecht shipyard.

After construction at Zwijndrecht, she was moved to Alblasserdam, the facility designed to have a minimum impact on the environment, where she was outfitted.

The specs on Y720 is impressive. She is 358 feet (109 meters) long with a 52 feet (16 meter) beam and has a top speed of 20 knots. At a normal 15 knot cruising speed, she burns almost 20 gallons of fuel per mile, so she’s not the most environmentally friendly purchase.

Right now, Y720 is undergoing sea trials before Spielberg takes delivery. At that time we’ll know the name Spielberg will give his new yacht. Will he call it Seven Seas II or give it a brand new name? We’ll soon find out.

Steven Spielberg’s new Dutch yacht (109 metres) almost complete

Last year, legendary director Steven Spielberg finished his former 86-meter Man of Steel yacht. Seven Seas after Steven Spielberg’s seven children, For sale for 130 million euros † Not because the 75-year-old was tired of hunting, but because apparently he needed an upgrade.

Steven Spielberg remains loyal to the Dutch shipyard

Steven Spielberg hit again in the Oceanco van Ali Al-Browanik for his new hunt. On March 11, his new sailing slop, under the name Y720, left the shed in the Alblasserdam. “The owner played a key role in the design process, making the Y720 a very special yacht,” Oceanco said in a press release.

At least 109 meters long, 16 meters wide, and four stories tall, the Y720 is an Oceanco landmark. The first phase of construction took place at the subsidiary Oceanco in Zwijndrecht, after which the yacht was finally completed at the headquarters in Alblasserdam.

Eye-catching details in the design

The interior design was provided by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, while the naval architecture was designed by Lateral Naval Architects. The mega yacht has been designed with technologically advanced environmental systems that go beyond current regulations.

No matter its size, the yacht stands out due to the impressive amount of glass. The main deck as well as the bridge and upper decks are all completely enclosed by large glass windows.

Celebrities with their nautical wishes

Oceano is busy with celebrity orders. They are also currently working on the three-chip Y721. Dedicated to the second richest man on earth: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Perhaps he did not escape your notice that at that time the Rotterdam de Heave bridge had to be temporarily dismantled, at the expense of the American, so that the ship could be moved.

In the past, yachts were also handed over to other celebrities such as Nancy Walton, the heiress Walmart (Yacht Kaos), Jerry Jones, owner of the US soccer team Dallas Cowboys (Yacht Bravo Eugenia) and Arthur M. Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot (Yacht DreAMBoat).

A Closer Look at Steven Spielberg's Yacht Seven Seas

Few names in Hollywood can compare to Steven Spielberg. The mention of this award-winning filmmaker’s name alone brings about memories of some of the industry’s best movies including Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schindler’s List, Lincoln, Ready Player One, and so many more. While we only know a few details about how Spielberg lives his private life, we do know that he owns a yacht—a superyacht at that. Called the Seven Seas , Spielberg’s yacht is the type that exists only in dreams. We’re going to head for the ocean to take a closer look at Spielberg’s yacht and what makes it incredible.

First off, it’s important to note that Spielberg’s yacht is worth about $184 million. That’s a lot of money, but it’s not that big of a deal for someone whose net worth is about $3.7 billion. Spielberg continues to add to that net worth, not only through making films but also through his yacht. Business Insider tells us that Spielberg actually opened up the doors to his yacht to allow anyone to charter it for a fee. We say anyone because even you can charter the yacht as long as you can afford the monthly fee of $1.2 million. If that fee is a little too steep for you, allow us to just indulge your senses by telling you why the yacht might be worth that much.

First off, it may sound ridiculous but people have insane amounts of money everywhere. And Spielberg can charter his yacht by that much because he is who he is. His superyacht is actually for sale, and it’s a good sales strategy to allow potential buyers to charter the yacht before purchase. This 282-foot long vessel was designed and built by Dutch company Oceano . The style of the yacht is sleek and elegant. Apart from its size, you can tell how luxurious it really is from its exterior design. The blue hull perfectly contrasts the white color of the upper deck platform. It’s simply a stunning view from any angle you take it in.

The Interior

Moving into the interior is a similar experience. Every single room inside the yacht is outlined with beautiful and rich wooden materials. The décor is exotic, eclectic, and equally luxurious. Every single room in the superyacht is larger than average rooms on land. But the room sizes aren’t the best part about the Seven Seas. When Oceano created this yacht, they packed it in with a number of amenities that only the rich could afford to have built. The Seven Seas has a gorgeous infinity pool, but it’s no ordinary infinity pool. This area is outfitted with a 15-foot dual-purpose glass screen that serves as a monitor for movies to be played on. After all, what’s a Spielberg yacht if you can’t watch movies on it? The infinity pool happens to also serve another luxury purpose: a helipad. The pool converts somehow just so a helicopter (maybe Spielberg’s) can come and go as needed. Other amenities in the yacht includes an indoor cinema with a screen larger than the infinity pool’s, a fully equipped gym that features an amazing panoramic view of the ocean, a fully functional spa for relaxation, and of course, a fully stocked bar for some libations.

Watersports

The fun doesn’t end there at the Seven Seas. The yacht will also give you access to a lot of watersports options. As a guest on this yacht, you can have access to various watersports equipment such as snorkels, wetsuits, kayaks, sea bobs, water skiis, and so many more. For those seriously considering renting out this charter, you’d have to consider the accommodations first. The yacht needs 26 crewmembers to be fully staffed. The rest of the guest rooms can be occupied by up to 12 guests, plus Spielberg. While all the guest rooms are lovely and amazing, not all guest rooms are created equal. You could expect that Spielberg’s room happens to be the best, as it features a study room and a Jacuzzi among other special things. All of the guest rooms are fit to welcome some of Hollywood’s royalty including Leonardo di Caprio and actress Blake Lively.

When it comes to performance, only true power could pull a yacht of that size. The Seven Seas has an incredibly powerful engine that has a maximum speed of 20 knots. The superyacht cruises at 15 knots. It has a range of 15,000 nautical miles, and it’s outfitted with some of the best stabilizing mechanisms out there. Interestingly enough, Spielberg is actually prone to seasickness. In fact, he’s said a few times before that he’s actually not much of an ocean person. People have said similar things before only to have their minds changed by the ocean. It’s been rumored that the reason why Spielberg is chartering the Seven Seas is that he wants to sell it for a bigger yacht. Despite the seasickness, Spielberg has fallen in love with the ocean and the boating life. He wants more yacht space than what he’s got now, and we can only speculate that he’s probably looking to spend more time in it than he does now. After all, being in the ocean for a long time can begin to feel claustrophobic. It’s been rumored that Spielberg has his eyes set on a particular yacht that sails at about 300 feet. It isn’t much bigger than the Seven Seas, but it sure costs much more. The new yacht is said to cost $250 million, and it probably has even better amenities than the Seven Seas. For now, Spielberg is enjoying the superyacht he has now until it’s time for the next.

The superyacht world is speculating that Mark Zuckerberg just bought this 118-meter boat

  • The 118-meter superyacht Launchpad made her maiden voyage last week.
  • The yacht world is speculating that her owner is Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
  • Here's what we know about the luxury vessel.

Insider Today

In the world of superyachts , privacy is the most valuable asset. It can be next to impossible to discern the details of a superyacht transaction — and that's particularly true if the vessel in question is worth nine figures.

Yet some in the boat blogging world are speculating that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the new owner of Launchpad, a megayacht currently moored in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after she made her maiden voyage from Gibraltar to St Maarten last week. Launchpad clocks in at 118 meters long, about nine meters shorter than Jeff Bezos' superyacht Koru .

The transaction could not be confirmed, with yacht world insiders declining to share what they know and representatives for Zuckerberg not responding to a request for comment from Business Insider. In the past, reports about Zuckerberg owning superyacht Ulysses have proven false.

Related stories

"It is Feadship's standard policy to never divulge any information about our yachts with reference to ownership, costs, or delivery, etc," Feadship, the ship's builder, wrote to BI. "Whether it is an 18-meter Feadship from the 1960s or a 118-meter Feadship from the 21st century, we do not share private information."

But Zuckerberg's name has been connected to Launchpad for a few months now, beginning in December when reports swirled that he visited Feadship's shipyard in the Netherlands.

Then, earlier in March, yachting bloggers like eSysman SuperYachts and Autoevolution started speculating that he officially snagged the boat, originally built for a sanctioned Russian businessman, at a $300 million price tag. (While that's a seemingly huge amount, it's still less than 0.2% of Zuckerberg's $177 billion net worth.)

Another clue that might point to US ownership is that the yacht bears the flag of the Marshall Islands, a US territory and commonplace for American buyers to register their ships, according to public marine tracking.

If Zuckerberg were to have bought Launchpad, he would join a cohort of superyacht-owning tech billionaires . Along with Bezos, the likes of Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison and Google cofounders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have purchased impressive boats with even more impressive amenities.

SuperYacht Times , an industry publication and intelligence platform, has some of the best images of the yacht. Photos show a swimming pool on her main deck and a large helipad.

While less is known of the interior, a vessel of her size can likely sleep dozens of guests and crew and may have amenities like an expansive gym where Zuckerberg could practice his jiu-jitsu or a spa with a massage area. We suspect there's also space for plenty of toys — which could include his viral hydrofoil foil .
