Hyannis Port Yacht Club

- Founded 1909, Incorporated 1966 -

Welcome to the Hyannis Port Yacht Club’s new and improved website. We hope you enjoy the new design and will visit often to find out information on the Club activities, including our sailing class offerings and registration, racing programs and social activities. With the launch of this site all junior sailing registration will take place in one place at  www.hyannisportyachtclub.com  and we will discontinue the use of our sister site for junior sailing registration,  www.hpycjs.org .

New websites just don’t happen and it took the participation of our Board of Trustees, Dock Manager Josh Rand and Program Director Meg Adley to pull this all together. In particular, I would like to recognize our Website team who went above and beyond in their efforts to get this done.

A huge and heartfelt thanks to Will Campo who designed and developed the website. We literally would not have a site without his tireless work over many, many months! Will put in countless hours on this project and we are grateful for his can-do spirit and impressive design skills.  A special thanks to Clare O’Keeffe, our team leader, who made it a priority to bring our website out of the Stone Age and guided the entire process from beginning to end. Nicola Dempsey and Karen Anderson Smith put in the hours to make sure the junior sailing registration system worked and created the great content you see on these pages.

Hyannis Port Yacht Club has a strong tradition of volunteer support and I am proud of the determined effort the team put in to create a website for all of our members to enjoy. Thank you Clare, Nicola, Karen and Will.

ABOUT THE HPCA

The HPCA is a voluntary membership organization established to support and inform the Hyannis Port community.  It is an outgrowth of the Hyannisport Village Improvement Association which dates back to the 1890s.

The initial purpose stated was “to promote civic development and improvement of the community of Hyannisport and for that purpose to acquire, hold and deal in real estate and other property as incidental thereto and do all other things incidental to the foregoing.”

The Hyannisport Boat Pier Company and the West Beach Bathing Company were taken over by the Civic Association also in 1929, transferring their respective shares of stock.

We thank you for your interest and look forward to serving you in the future.

At that time the charter membership of the Association was 42 persons; today we have 350+/- members.

BECOME A MEMBER

The Hyannis Port Civic Association was organized by summer residents of Hyannis Port in 1929 with the goal of acquiring and maintaining the Hyannis Port pier and West Beach Club and providing security and other services to make life in our village more pleasant. Our mission has changed little since that time.

Members of the Civic Association must own property or meet residency requirements within the village of Hyannis Port.  Membership entitles you to the use of the pier, is a prerequisite for membership in the West Beach Club, and entitles you to vote at the annual meeting of the Civic Association held every year on or about August 1st. Hyannis Port Civic members pay a Homeowners Assessment for each house along with Membership Dues for individuals and families and Wharfage Fees for boats moored in the Hyannis Port harbor. The Civic Association operates a security service which works closely with the Barnstable Police force to patrol village streets and to deter criminal activity in Hyannis Port.

Although membership is voluntary, most of Hyannis Port’s property owners are members, as are many other residents who are not owners.

Because of the broad base of our community support, the Civic Association has done much to preserve the village’s friendly, close-knit atmosphere.

If you like old grouchy people this is the place for you, from the bartender to the clientele it is an older crowd and they have attitude. I live next door and have been a member for years... but I know why I go only twice a year for a cocktail. I can walk there... not even drive but the attitude is not worth the walk. They need to greet customer when they come in with a smile, rather than acting as if they are doing you a favor.

I think the previous reviewer is talking about the Hyannis Yacht Club. Associated with the Hyannis yacht Club is the Captain's Table restaurant/club. To the best of my knowledge the Hyannisport Yacht Club has no facilities except a dock, launch service and a small equipment building

As i sit here trying to drink away the taste of dissapointment of the horrendous experience i just encountered on my lovely 4th of july night i sit back and think of the ordeal of that poor excuse of a yacht. let me begin with the reservation i made. in FEBUARY our sweet old nana made reservervations at the club for 4th of july. she clearly stated she wanted deckside seating at 730! weeks later she called to confirm this and those motherfuckers lied to her face. this sweet innocent hard working retired public servent was lied too. upon arrival we were met by an angry hostess who smelled of low tide. she informed us that we had NO reservations even though Nana called in late june to confirm the reservation. we were forced to stand in the packed bar in the motherfucking corner between angry old people with no teeth and the town drunks. we were not seated for 45 minutes. our nana has bad knees and cannot stand for that long and our friend who accompanied us has a heart condition and shouldnt be forced to the rigures of standing in a bar. when we finally seated at table for 4 (we had a party of 6) they didnt even give us the correct menus. (3 of us were given light fared menus and we were forced to mix and match.) finally we were met by a rude middle age bitch of waitress who would be more at home in a stable with the her fellow donkeys. after shuffling through menus that flat out didnt make sense we were finally able to begin to order our meal. the problem was our bitch of a waitress completely forgot about us for 40 straight minutes. she finally returned to take orders. we have never been so rudely talked too while we were placing our orders. this women did not want to give us the time of day. when of asked if he tomatos were could be opted out of his pasta dish she rudely replied "the tomatos are going to kill you hon" this poor just trying to ask because he wanted to know what was in the dish. once the orders were placed we had to wait an hour just for the appetizzers to arrive. one of us ordered oysters on the half shell. the oysters were smalled and none of the usual sides were given with it. it 40 minutes to make motherfucking raw oysters. the rest of the apps were fine. 45 minutes went by after the apps were served before the dinner was sent in. this is where the real problems began. A Omaha steak was ordered. I don't know what person could call this a steak as it looked like a blacken piece of shit that was dark red in the middle. This was the worst meal that was ever served and the French fries were salty as hell and mushy on the inside. Once this piss poor dinner service was over we decided to give them one more chance by ordering desert. the major problem with the deserts were the two ice creams that were ordered were made before the rest of the desserts and were forced to sit as the rest of the deserts were being made. The ice creams were served half melted. Straws should haved been served with the ice creams instead of spoons. This was just an overall terrible meal and we would all rather drink bong water including Nana.
