The Jeff Schionning-designed Jaguar 36 is another highly popular South African cruising cat. In the last years, she has been built in great numbers and has earned her reputation as a good sailer at a reasonable price. The volume in the saloon rivals that of 40-foot multihulls , thanks to her extra-wide beam. As long as care is taken not to overload the boat, the bridgedeck clearance will be adequate for offshore sailing. A fractional sail plan assures that a couple can master the boat from a single helm station, which is located on the port side of the cockpit. The Jaguar is available in various layouts: charter version, 4 cabin plan and owner's version, which is shown below.

We are selling one-third ownership and equity in SV Mikat, a 2004 Jaguar 36 produced in South Africa. ASKING PRICE: $62,000

This catamaran is incredibly spacious and open, reminiscent of larger vessels, including a large king cabin in the owners suite. This boat has been recently updatedincluding completely rebuilt diesel engines in Dec 2022!! It is turn-key for cruising with a watermaker, generator, solar panels and a lovely hard-bottom dinghy purchased in 2020. Mikat has provided our family of four with a safe, comfortable, and fun platform for cruising the Bahamas and Florida Keys over the past several winters.

Mikat was rebuilt in 2017 by one of the current members of the partnership and is now managed by an LLC consisting of three partners from around the U.S. Use and management of the boat is laid out in an operating agreement. Each partner is currently allotted two months aboard each winter and receives less usage the rest of the year. Cruising location and timing of boat exchange is negotiable annually among partners. Members of the LLC provide semi-annual dues (currently $5,000 per year per partner) to account for operating costs and maintenance. Mikat has been moored in various ports in southern Florida from May 1 to October 1.

TRANSOM & BOW: Steps on both hulls lead to the water, with dinghy lift in the middle. Outdoor shower plumbed to the hot water tank (heaven!) Double stainless wire lifelines and stanchions. Trampolines port and starboard of a gangway to the genoa roller furler. Blue lights on bow to see fish underwater at night. Seats on all 4 corners of the hull to watch dolphins and sunsets!

POWER SYSTEMS: Two HP Volvo MD2020 20hpdiesel engines (rebuilt in Dec 2022) and SD20 sail drives. Next Generation diesel generator. Six AGM house batteries, 110v inverter, and four 300 W solar panels all managed by a power charging regulator/system. Onboard reverse-osmosis watermaker. Hot water heater next to starboard engine. Two 120V air conditioning units.

SAILS: Fully battened Dacron main sail with 2 reef points. Lewmar electric winch and roller furling genoa, both reconditioned in 2019. Spare sails include a gennaker, spinnaker and storm sail.

GROUND TACKLE: Two CQR plough anchors with 100 feet chain and 200 feet rhode. Windlass with foot controls on forward deck.

DINGHY: 2020 Zodiac Nautic Cadet (10.5 feet) with a fiberglass bottom, and a Tohatsu 9.9HP outboard.

TANKS: 110 gallons of freshwater storage (70 gallons forward and 40 gallons aft). 70 gallon diesel tank. 2 LPG 20 lb. tanks (1 in forward storage locker for the galley stove, 1 strapped outside cockpit for BBQ grill).

INSTRUMENTS & SAFETY EQUIPMENT: VHF at nav station and at helm, handheld VHF, Raymarine chartplotter, GPS, depth sounder, wind instrument, autopilot, compass, handheld VHF. ACR EPIRB, lifejackets with harnesses, fire extinguishers, spotlight, throw ring and flares.

GRP catamaran; Jaguar 36 Sailing Cat "Flow XXL", launched in July 2006. Built in 2005 in by Charters Cats SA in South Africa, Dim.: Loa 11,03 m x 7,00 m x 1,00 m, mast height: 16,70 m. GRP hull, superstructure and deck, Lloyds approved balsa core construction. Opening hatches + mosquito screens in saloon, head, aft cabin and owner’s cabin, wrap around safety glass windows of 10 mm windows in saloon, four opening ports per side, mosquito screens. Sliding door (with extra thick safety glass) with folding mosquito door. The front beam is an aluminium compression member that supports the forestay bridle, with walkway from forward hatch to front beam with the two plastic coated nylon trampolines. GRP toe rail moulded into deck. Cockpit: stainless steel targa bar and walkway, anti-skid moulded into decks and coach roof, aft double seating in stainless steel and GRP. Deck lockers: 1x bow + 1x cockpit + 2x on dive platform. Fresh water capacity: 250 litres in epoxy tank, water maker - capacity of 22 litres per hour) Fuel capacity: 249 litres (epoxy tank) + two day tanks with 100 litres each. Steering gear: hydraulic steering system, two rudders linked together by on stainless steel tie bar, helm seat.

Accommodation

Three cabin layout, cherry wood interior finishes, teak and holy laminated flooring, saloon + three cabins + two heads, 6 (+2) berths, headroom between 2,00 till 2,20 m. Hot and cold pressurized water system, 25 litres hot water heater. Air-condition/heating system (defect). Led lightning. Saloon with buffalo leather on 8 persons settee, wrap-around windows give an open vista and view, large four panel folding armour-plate glass cockpit door for convenient outdoor/indoor living, counter sunk lights in ceiling with dimmer. Starboard forward owners cabin: one King size bed, en-suite head, ample locker / storage, skylight, ceiling liner finished in vinyl, reading lights. En-suite heads with basin and mirror, shower, electric toilet. Port forward heads & vanity: electric toilet, stand-up shower, basin and mirror, shelves and hatch. Aft cabins: Queen size beds, large lockers with wooden doors, down lighters, hatch at foot of bed, large overhead hatch, opening port hole, hanging lockers & cupboards, teak and holly laminated flooring, step up onto bunk bed. Galley: Corian counter tops, large work surfaces, four burner gas stove with hot air oven and microwave, two stainless steel sinks, fridge of 115 litres, freezer of 115 litres, washing machine. Corian tops on lockers. Two gas lockers with controls. All the pumps are replaced in 2009.

Twin Volvo Penta MD2030 sail drive engines of 29 hp each, two in-line fuel filters. (on both engine panesl the hour counter does not funktion) Electric circuit: 12V/220V, distribution panel located on saloon bulkhead. Batteries - all of 2010: 5x 100 amp service (maintenance free) + 2x 70 amp engine, main breaker, battery charger, invertor. Completed prepared for mounting a generator, (no generator available). Two manual and two electric bilge pumps. Fire extinguishers.

Compass, rudder indicator, log, echo sounder, wind set, autopilot with an in- and outside connection, radar, GPS, VHF, manual VHF, navtex, Geonav chart plotter, satellite telephone. Stereo with CD with two speakers in saloon, digitenne.

Sprayhood, cockpit cover, bimini, cockpit table, cockpit cushions, stainless steel push pit and pulpit, electric anchor winch, anchor + spare anchor, boarding ladder, wind generator, solar panels: 3x 80 Ah, radar reflector, 6 persons life raft, deck wash pump, deck shower (hot/cold water).

Sloop rigged, deck mounted anodized aluminium alloy extrusion single spreader mast, all halyards internal in mast, anodized aluminium alloy extrusion boom, one forestay and four side stays. Mast lowering system. Roller furling unit, Dacron fully battened main sail on extended boom, genoa, storm jib and spinnaker. Genoa tracks, cars, deck organizers and jammers located on coach roof. Three reefing points, adjustable topping lift. One electric and one manual winch, main sail sheet double traveler, car and controls with stoppers. All lines lead through deck organizers and jammers on coach roof back to helm station for ease of shorthanded sailing.

The Jaguar Wildcat Series

The Wildcat Series has been conceived as a family and friends fast and functional day boat or a race boat. The construct comes in two basic forms with some exciting options. Both options follow the superb racing and safety racing heritage that Jack Clarke engineered in to the company. Boats are fully infused Epoxy, quadrex glass and Corecell layups with super strong bulkhead, stringer and Transom designs to withstand the rigors of fast transit in rough water. Cockpit and even windscreen designs can be modified to suit individual customers from plain forward facing seating options through to true leisure use with comfortable bucket seats and loungers built into the design. Unlike competitor's designs we have created easy access to the water with a level walkway out between the motors to add to the usability of this boat for family and friends. The 37 Wildcat is designed as a Prosport 450 Class boat with a 72” tunnel and sponsons that incorporate the Jack Clarke designed pad system in the running surface to optimize stability and maneuverability at speed. The Wildcat 37 Design allows for use of Outboard power as standard and the option of using inboard power. the 37 Wildcat can also be configured as a pure race boat in compliance with the Prospect 450 class rules. The 48’ Wildcat is a pure performance beast. Based on the Open Class world championship winning “Coca Coila” hull designed by Jack Clarke and Michael Peters, this can be configured and a full canopy boat or an open cockpit boat with layout options similar to the 37 Wildcat. Power is via inboards to whatever specification the customer desires, twin 1100 or 1350 are popular choices and the boat can run sterndrives or Surface drive and rudder systems.

Limited only by your imagination our custom shop can take a standard hull from the production line and give you a totally custom interior or we can take either of our two basic running surfaces to create your dream boat from cafe racer to luxury overnight yacht. Today in our custom shop you will find the Thriller race boat being refitted as an outboard powered 37’ heritage sports, a 55’ day yacht being totally custom built based on our wide-body “Coca Cola” hull and a 50’ Sport boat again based on the wide-body hull design. Whatever your dreams can conceptualize our engineers and designers can work alongside you to create a boat that looks and performs superbly. Indeed the new Offshore series was conceived in exactly this manner moving rapidly from a custom creation to mainstream production as potential customers were exposed to Jaguar’s unique hull and construction.
