Lagoon 440 catamaran.

Launched in 2004, the Lagoon 440 catamaran was the first catamaran under 45 feet to boast a fly bridge and an unprecedented nacelle in the shape of a gull’s wing. With the production of 432 units, the Lagoon 440 catamaran broke world records for the under-45 feet range of catamaran.

DESIGN – EXTERIOR & INTERIOR

Designed by shipyard Jeanneau, the main designing objective of the Lagoon 440 was enhanced speed and reduced pitching.

ACCOMODATIONS

Accessed by a sliding door, the Lagoon 440 has a large saloon which can easily be populated by 8 people. The pale wooden finishing of the light interior has a calming effecting, pronounced by the air conditioning system which can be controlled separately. The vertical windows characteristic to Lagoon not only give a panoramic view through the saloon but also allow for sunlight to filter through without heating up the interior. 

The curvaceous settee in the lounge with its chunky upholstery makes for a comfortable sitting space and faces the L-shaped galley which with its spacious counters comes equipped with three stainless-steel sinks and a three-burner stove along with an oven, fridge and a freezer. There is also a sliding window which can be opened for fresh air or to reach out to the aft cockpit. All of the cockpit is protected by a fiberglass hard top which gives further control over the weather inside the catamaran through air conditioners and heaters. There is also plenty of storage space in the form of cupboards lining the top of the galley.

The owner’s version of the Lagoon 440 catamaran replaces the two cabins on the starboard hull in the charter version with a private suite. The private suite has a 175 cm island master berth with the same pale wooden finishing and also boasts a comfortable settee along with storage space in the form of a hanging locker, cupboards underneath the bed and drawers. There is also a vanity table with a stool that can be pulled out and a separate, spacious shower compartment. The wide window in the cabin allows for light but only opens one-way to ensure privacy. The other two cabins in the port hull also house double berths and attached shower compartments but the cabins are not as large as the master suite.

In terms of space on the deck, the Lagoon 440 has been divided into three main parts, namely the flybridge helm, the aft cockpit, and the forward seating area. This allows for multiple spaces to be occupied by people on board without them interfering with one another.

Given that the Lagoon 440 catamaran is the first catamaran under the 45 feet range to have a flybridge to where all the sail-handling lines lead, it not only provides excellent visibility of all four sides of the vessel to the person on sails – allowing efficient and complete viewing of both the mainsails and the jibs – but also allows the same person to work the lines without leaving the helm. The bimini covering the helm station, however, is small and can be in want of a better enclosure to protect the rest of the crew. The flybridge is elevated enough to prevent the spraying of water while on passage but that does not mean it requires extra effort while docking as it is still to a level close enough to that of the deck. The helm station has the main steer in the center with mainsail winches behind and gauges and other three winches on the sides.

The aft cockpit can be converted into a dining place with a table that can be stored in the ceiling storage compartment. There is not only plentiful storage space for non-perishables with storage cabinets running along the bench but the aft cockpit also houses a spare refrigerator. As previously mentioned, the cockpit is backed with a fiberglass enclosure and has two small windows that open into the helm and allow for ventilation.

The side-decks are spacious and allow enough to room walk freely with stainless steel grab-rails providing the safety mechanism all around.  The fore-deck also offers two supple trampolines right in front of the forward sitting area. The forward sitting area is also comfortably spacious and has hatches that open into the interior.

ENGINE ROOMS

The Lagoon 440 catamaran has two Volvo Penta diesel engines of 40 horsepower each which are in separate, easily accessible compartments in the sugar scoops with enough room for engine checks and maintenance. The generator is placed in one of the lockers aft of the cabins and is well-insulated and soundproofed.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The Lagoon 440 catamaran has a full length of 13.61 meters and a width of 7.70 meters. The mast height from the waterline is 21.40 meters. It has a total displacement of 12150 kilograms. The total water reserve capacity is 900 liters divided into three 300 liters reserve. The fuel reserve comprises of a pair of 325 liters each. Lagoon 42 catamaran has a sail area of 1248 sq. feet.

Take the flying bridge, which is an innovation on any boat less than 45 ft long. Add a ‘gull’s wing’ shape to the underside of the bridge deck. Mix in enough volume for really comfortable accommodation, a different way of arranging the external living space and decent performance for a cruising boat, and you have the Lagoon 440, a revolution in the small world of cruising multihulls.

Right from the start, the Lagoon 440’s lines struck a familiar chord. The general shape of the hulls and superstructure reminded me of something that I could not quite put my finger on. The 440 undeniably resembles the other boats in the Lagoon range, but there was something else… I was thinking about what it was when a ‘Lagoon Power’ pulled in to tie up behind, and I could see the resemblance straight away. Certainly, the 440’s bows are less flared than on the ‘Power’, and it is above all the cabin roof which is similar, but it probably owes more to the motor boat than to previous sailing boats in the range. When I first discovered the Lagoon Power 43 with its gigantic aft cabin, I commented that the day would come when the accommodation on sailing catamarans would also be fitted out as a ‘suite’; the 440 is not quite there yet, but one day…..

MIA is 44 feet long (13.61m) and 26 feet wide (7.7m) meter a comfortable catamaran, a proven bluewater sailer, that combines aesthetics, sailing performance, and exceptional habitability . Built in 2007 and completely renovated in 2019 , she has been fitted with 2 new powerful 54HP Yanmar engines, an 8KWh Generator, air-conditioning, water maker, a new performance sound system with 14 speakers, a barbecue, new deck cushions and a large Bimini top over its spacious fly-bridge where one can find lots of sitting and sun-bathing areas.

She is very well equipped, with 4 air-conditioned cabins and ensuite facilities , and can accommodate up to 8 passengers plus 2 crew for multi-day charters.

For day trips she can accommodate up to 22 passengers (we limit the number to 18 for extra comfort) that can sit comfortably in shaded areas in the back, front, and fly-bridge of this amazing catamaran. There are also plenty of sunbathing spots on the upper deck and on the 2 trampolines on the yacht’s bow. So don’t worry there is plenty of room for everyone!

CATAMARAN LAGOON 410S2

This large catamaran features  innovation and clever design  yet also builds on the experience and traditions of the lagoon line of catamarans. The  Lagoon 410s2  charter yacht features a vast galley-living area with the characteristic Lagoon  large windows and 360-degree vista . The galley and salon common area opens directly via glass sliding doors to the cockpit and creates a great brilliant vantage point and clear visibility from the helming area where all sail controls are brought back. An electric winch increases the ease, efficiency, and safety of managing mainsail loads. The cockpit is well protected by the saloon roof and is a  superb focal point for nighttime entertaining and the day’s activities . She is an ideal and well-proven performer and perfect for charter.

Accommodation This Lagoon 410 S2 offers  4 double cabins  outside the saloon each with its own heads and shower compartments.  7 ft standing headroom and good ventilation throughout. The saloon has a large dining table surrounded by comfortable seating with light cream-colored leather upholstery  and  panoramic views through large windows . The L-shaped galley is well-equipped with a 3 burner hob and oven, front opening refrigerator and top opening freezer, and a double stainless steel sink with pressurized hot and cold water. In addition, the galley window opens into the cockpit area.

SAILING BOAT VENUS 16 PLUS

Designed by Judel/Vrolijk for Greek DROMOR yachts, the  Venus 16 Plus  is a  beautiful and spacious motor sailor . Equipped with  2 88HP Yanmar turbo-powered engines  she has a top speed of 11 knots and a  cruising speed of 9 knots . With 3 furling sails, one of which a storm jib, she can sail even in the strongest of wind conditions without a problem.

NIKI L.  can accommodate  up to 10 guests in 4 cabins with ensuite facilities , two spacious double cabins in the back and two triple cabins in the front, plus a separate cabin for the crew. It has two sitting areas, at different levels, making it a very comfortable boat to move around in. The exterior layout of the Venus is also amazing with a  large stern with a sitting area  and easy access to the boat. The deck is very spacious, has been fitted with  deck cushions for extra comfort and offers lots of sunbathing areas.

For day cruises, NIKI can accommodate up to 20 passengers plus 2 crew but we limit this number to 18 passengers for that extra comfort. The deck is equipped with hammocks, large cushions, and canvases so you can easily relax in the shade.
