Yahtzee Rules

The objective of YAHTZEE is to get as many points as possible by rolling five dice and getting certain combinations of dice.

In each turn a player may throw the dice up to three times. A player doesn't have to roll all five dice on the second and third throw of a round, he may put as many dice as he wants to the side and only throw the ones that don't have the numbers he's trying to get. For example, a player throws and gets 1,3,3,4,6. He decides he want to try for the large straight, 1,2,3,4,5. So, he puts 1,3,4 to the side and only throws 3 and 6 again, hoping to get 2 and 5.

In this game you click on the dice you want to keep. They will be moved down and will not be thrown the next time you press the 'Roll Dice' button. If you decide after the second throw in a turn that you don't want to keep the same dice before the third throw then you can click them again and they will move back to the table and be thrown in the third throw.

Upper section combinations

• Ones: Get as many ones as possible.
• Twos: Get as many twos as possible.
• Threes: Get as many threes as possible.
• Fours: Get as many fours as possible.
• Fives: Get as many fives as possible.
• Sixes: Get as many sixes as possible.

For the six combinations above the score for each of them is the sum of dice of the right kind. E.g. if you get 1,3,3,3,5 and you choose Threes you will get 3*3 = 9 points. The sum of all the above combinations is calculated and if it is 63 or more, the player will get a bonus of 35 points. On average a player needs three of each to reach 63, but it is not required to get three of each exactly, it is perfectly OK to have five sixes, and zero ones for example, as long as the sum is 63 or more the bonus will be awarded.

Lower section combinations

• Three of a kind: Get three dice with the same number. Points are the sum all dice (not just the three of a kind).
• Four of a kind: Get four dice with the same number. Points are the sum all dice (not just the four of a kind).
• Full house: Get three of a kind and a pair, e.g. 1,1,3,3,3 or 3,3,3,6,6. Scores 25 points.
• Small straight: Get four sequential dice, 1,2,3,4 or 2,3,4,5 or 3,4,5,6. Scores 30 points.
• Large straight: Get five sequential dice, 1,2,3,4,5 or 2,3,4,5,6. Scores 40 points.
• Chance: You can put anything into chance, it's basically like a garbage can when you don't have anything else you can use the dice for. The score is simply the sum of the dice.
• YAHTZEE: Five of a kind. Scores 50 points. You can optionally get multiple Yahtzees, see below for details.

Multiple Yahtzees

The rules around multiple Yahtzees are a bit complex. There are a couple of different cases:

• You already have a Yahtzee: You get a 100 bonus points in the Yahtzee box, but you also have a joker, which means that you can choose another move for the Yahtzee you just got. If the number you got yahtzees with has not been filled out in the upper section, then you must choose that. E.g. if you get an additional Yahtzee with 2's, and you haven't filled out the 2's in the upper section then you must choose that, and get 10 points for it. If the upper section box is already filled then you can choose any of the lower region boxes, and they will be scored as normal. Yahtzee is a superset of 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, full house and chance, but you can also choose small or large straight and will get the normal 30 and 40 points for those.

Multiplayer

Note: To keep things simple and even as possible, all multiplayer games allow multiple Yahtzees.

Strategy tips

Try to get the bonus. Focus on getting good throws with fives and sixes, then it won't matter if you put 0 in the ones or twos. You can always put in 0 for a combination if you don't have it, even if you have some other combination. E.g. if you had 2,3,4,5,6 and the only things you had left were Ones and Sixes, then it would be better to put 0 in Ones than to put only 6 in Sixes.

This online version of YAHTZEE was made by me. My name is Einar Egilsson and over there on the left is my current Facebook profile picture! In the last couple of years I've made a number of simple online card games, including Hearts and Spades . After making seven card games and three solitaires I figured it was time to try something else, so I decided to make YAHTZEE (or YATZY as it's known here in Denmark, where the rules and scoring are also slightly different). It's been a fun game to make, and I'm looking forward to seeing how well Bill will play against human opponents :)

The game is made using JavaScript, HTML and CSS, with jQuery and a couple of jQuery plugins used for animations. Since I have no artistic talent whatsoever I used graphics that I found at OpenClipArt , a great site with free graphics.

How to Play Yahtzee

The winner of the game is the player who scores most points. There are a total of 13 plays that each player gets before the game is over. During each play, the player tries to roll to get the highest score they can.

Available moves

• Roll up to three times per play. Not all dice need to be rolled on each successive roll. Dice can be locked by being clicked on. Only the dice that are active will be rolled again.
• After each roll, the tentative scores are visible on the board. At any time during your play, you can select the desired score from the board. That finishes your turn.
• After you select your score, your. opponent now gets a chance to roll the dice and score
• Scores in the upper box are based on the die number of the box multiplied by the number of times it appears in the roll. For example, if a roll consists of 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, the score for the Threes box will be 6, because you landed two 3s, which would total 6.
• If the sum of all the upper boxes is 63 or greater, the player receives an additional bonus of 35. To get at or above 63, aim for 3 of a kind for each of the upper boxes.
• Scores in the three or four of a kind box are the sum total of all the dice that have been rolled, assuming that there are three or four of the same dice in the roll. For example, if you roll a 1, 2, 5, 5, 5, your score will be 18 for a three of a kind
• A full house consists of a pair and a three of a kind, and receives 25 points. For example, (4, 4, 4, 1, 1), (4, 1, 4, 1, 4), (1, 1, 4, 4, 4), (1, 4, 4, 4, 1), and (4, 1, 4, 4, 1).
• A small straight is a sequence of 4 dice. For example, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 2, 3, 4, 5. This is scored at 30 points.
• A large straight is a sequence of 5 dice, and is scored at 40 points.
• Chance is the sum total of all the dice and can be used when no other play seems good.
• A Yahtzee is five of a kind. It's scored 50.
• If a subsequent Yahtzee is received, then the player can go for a 'Double Yahtzee,' which is an additional 100 points. The player must then choose an additional score before continuing (details below).
• If the roll generates no score for a given box, a zero will be displayed. Zeroes can be selected as a score.
• After 13 rounds are up, the game is over. The scores are tallied up, and the winner is the player with the highest score. Good luck!

Double Yahtzee

If you roll a subsequent Yahtzee, you have the chance to receive a Double Yahtzee, which adds a hundred points to your score.

• If you choose the Double Yahtzee, you'll also need to choose another score on the table. This ensures each player has the same number of available scoring boxes.
• The scores you can choose from are based on the scores that are currently on the board. If the upper box for that number is available, you must choose that box (our system will choose it for you).
• If that number is not available, you must choose a lower box score.
• If no scores are available there, we let you choose a score from the upper box.
• If no scores are available at all, then you must already be at the end of your turn, and we move on to the next player.

Aim for the upper boxes first; try to get three of a kind for each number, especially the highest numbers (5 and 6).

Try only going for Chance if it's either 25 points or above, or if you have no other good plays.

The traditional spotted dice cube is considered to be on of the oldest form of gambling by Historians. Several variations of dice games have been invented since its origin. Yahtzee is one such game. It is a game of great chance, luck and also of smart thinking and strategy. Like any other dice game, it involves rolling dice (five), matching them and pairing them for points. The object of the game is to make the maximum number of points. The player with the greatest grand total wins the game and therefore earns the difference between his score and that of his opponents. It can be played by any number of people - in a large group or even by a single player (Solitaire).

So where did it all start? The exact origin of Yahtzee is not very clear. It is said to have been made by Milton Bradley in the 1950s. But according to Hasbro, the current owners of the rights of the game, it was invented in 1954 by a Canadian couple who often played it with friends on their yacht. And in 1956, the couple is said to have visited a toy-maker called Edwin. S. Lowe and asked him to make a few samples of their infamous "Yacht game", to distribute as gifts. Lowe liked the game so much, that he offered to buy the rights for the game in exchange for the first thousand games produced. Lowe then changed the name of the game to "Yahtzee". Initially the game did not sell too well, so Lowe started throwing Yahtzee parties, believing in the power of word of mouth. The game had to be played to be appreciated. After this over 40 million games were sold in America and around the globe. But eventually, the Milton Bradley Company bought over the Edwin Lowe Company, along with the Yahtzee rights in the 1970s. It was after this milestone that the game earned millions of fans. Currently, at least 50 million games are sold each year.

But the roots of the game go way back in game history. It is said to have been derived from a number of traditional dice games such as Puerto Rican game Genarala, and English games Cheerio and Poker Dice.

It's a simple game that is largely dependent on the players' luck. The Yahtzee player chooses a certain combination first and then rolls the dice to try and get that combination. There are 13 categories such as "three of a kind", "four of a kind", "straight", very similar to the "hands" in Poker, with a few extra ones thrown in. Each player rolls his dice up to three times per turn, in hopes of getting one of the 13 categories. If a player rolls the dice all three times, the score of the last roll is taken into consideration. It is not always possible for every player to get a score for each of the thirteen categories, so when every player has a score or a zero entered under all 13 categories (13 rounds), the game ends and all the players' scores are totaled up. Getting a straight five gives a player the highest score possible, which is 50 points. Also known as "Yahtzee" or "Five of a kind", if a player rolls such a combination more than once in the game he will be entitled to 100 bonus points for every time he rolls it, after the first 50 points have been earned.

Although the traditional form of the game was highly popular, many variations of the game were invented in order to maintain interest. Some of these variations are the triple, pyramid, painted, and battle Yahtzee games. Triple is like playing three games at once. That is, three scoring columns are used simultaneously for one game. Pyramid makes use of triangular dice, while in the Battle variation you are allowed to knock other player's dice. Painted includes colors, so you need to note down the scores of the players, based on the number and color combinations they get by rolling the dice. Whatever the variation you play, the game involves a lot of planning and strategy. It is very important to think ahead and make wise decisions about which pot (the 13 categories) to choose every time you roll. You can score big points for some of the harder pots to achieve, like a "Five of a kind". This way, it is advantageous to leave things like your one column until the very end when it is worthless.

Yacht is a classic dice-rolling game that inspired the hit game Yahtzee by Milton Bradley. Play online against random opponents, create a game with your friends, or practice against the computer.

In Yacht, you need to make specific combinations that score the most points possible at the end of three rolls. At the end of the game, whoever has the most points wins. 

Every turn, you have three dice rolls. After your first roll, you can choose to hold dice. The dice you hold will not be part of your next roll. After three rolls, pick a category on the scorecard to lock in your points. If you aren't sure what each category means, tap on the name to get more details.

HINT: If you score 63 or more points in the upper section of the scorecard, you'll earn a 35-point bonus.

You can either play this game against a computer, or play online and go head-to-head against players anywhere in the world. Either way, you can expect to have a fun and exciting challenge.

Probably the biggest factor in this dice game is whether or not you are able to get the 35-point bonus. Because of this, you should try and focus on the upper section in order to work toward that bonus. 

Make sure to keep your chance section clear for as long as you can. It is nice to have a safety net that can catch you if you have a bad roll. 

Every turn, you have three dice rolls. After your first roll, you can choose to hold dice. The dice you hold will not be part of your next roll. After three rolls, pick a category on the scorecard to lock in your points. If you aren't sure what each category means, mouse over the name to get more details.

Needs a couple things though....

I love the game but it needs 2 things...and a minor issue. ...Edit: my bad, I didn’t see the “undo” button...however it disappeared so fast I didn’t notice it...it should stay there until you make your next roll... You should be able to click another box if you select the wrong score. If you accidentally hit a score for sixes when you meant to press an entry in the fives, it won’t let you deselect the six and place the score in the five box. You’re out of luck if your fat fingers hit the wrong selection. Secondly, and similar, if you accidentally select a score after 2 rolls, it won’t let you cancel that selection and go back to make a third roll. You’re forced to accept that score and move on. I was playing triples, had 2 scores to fill and the game crashed. Just blinked out and went to the home screen. Running ios11 on iPhone 7 Plus phone. Went back to the app and it was like the game never occurred. Aggravating...all that time wasted. Can the game save progress if the app crashes?

I love this game and is very fun to play especially with family being out of state but it needs a new update because every time I play against someone it says error.. I do it all the time and sit and think that I should just delete it but I'm hoping soon there will be a better update.. Very unhappy player!!

OMG! I absolutely love the newest version of this game! Thanks so much for the update. Everything is much bigger and easier to see now, and I love the new backgrounds and different colored dice you can choose from! I highly recommend this game for everyone 😀😀

Yacht is a classic dice game, dating back from 1938. The game is the predecessor of Yahtzee and has a lot of similarities to the Latin-American Generala, the Scandinavian Yatzy and the English game of Poker Dice. In this game, you have got 6 dice and the goal is to throw as much special combinations as possible. A turn starts with the first throw. After this throw you can choose which dice you want to lock for your combination, and you can throw the other dice for a second time. From this throw you can again lock some dice and then you can make a final throw. After this throw you can choose which combination you get in the scorecard.

Summerfest will wrap up the 2024 edition with a stacked hip-hop show at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.

Lil Uzi Vert — whose three studio albums from 2017 to last year's "Pink Tape" have all hit the top of the Billboard 200 — is leading a five-act bill July 6 that includes fellow heavy hitters Lil Yachty and JID, plus up-and-comers Rico Nasty and LIHTZ.

Currently, the Summerfest date is the only show on Lil Uzi Vert's schedule aside from Coachella in California next month.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the box office (200 N. Harbor Drive) and summerfest.com . Prices have yet to be announced but will include Summerfest general admission July 6.

This is the seventh of nine amphitheater shows announced for the Milwaukee music festival, returning June 20 to 22, June 27 to 29 and July 4 to 6.

The others: Kane Brown with Kameron Marlowe and Nightly (June 20); Motley Crue with Seether and Buckcherry (June 21); Tyler Childers with S.G. Goodman and Adeem the Artist (June 28); Keith Urban with NEEDTOBREATHE and Alana Springsteen (June 29); AJR with Carly Rae Jepsen and Mxmtoon (July 4); and Maroon 5 (July 5).

Pop artist FLETCHER booked for BMO Pavilion Summerfest show

The Lil Uzi Vert show wasn't the only Summerfest show announced Monday. Pop singer FLETCHER, who won Outstanding Music Artist at the GLAAD Media Awards last year, will play the BMO Pavilion on June 29.

Reserved seats also go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Prices have yet to be announced, but tickets will include Summerfest general admission June 29. Additional seating will be available for the show on a first-come, first-served basis for Summerfest general-admission ticketholders.

Seven other BMO Pavilion concerts have already been announced for the Big Gig: Brittany Howard with The War & Treaty (June 20), Goo Goo Dolls (June 22), Muna (June 27), REO Speedwagon (June 28), Mt. Joy (July 4), Bryson Tiller (July 5) and Ivan Cornejo (July 6).

The nearly full headliner lineup is expected to be released this month.

Raise your red cup,  Grown-ish  fans, because it's time to say goodbye! ET is exclusively debuting the trailer for the second half of the Freeform series' final season.

Season 6B picks up right where the first half left off , with franchise stars  Marcus Scribner  and  Yara Shahidi  reprising their role as Andre Johnson Jr. (aka Junior) and Zoey Johnson for the final time. In part two of the final installment, Junior prepares to take his first steps into adulthood as graduation approaches and everyone else around him gears up for their last grand adventure.

As the trailer shows, for some, like Zoey, that grand adventure means finally seeing her dream of reviving her clothing line come true. For others, like Andre, it means learning how far you're willing to go to create the life you want for yourself. 

Like the installments before it,  Grown-ish 's season 6B will be a star-studded extravaganza featuring several original cast members, including Francia Raisa , Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat and Luka Sabbat, who will guest star alongside Druski (as Brock),  Kelly Rowland , Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, and Latto.

Series regulars Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons, Daniella Taylor, Justine Skye and Tara Raani will also star in the final season. Malcolm-Jamal Warner will guest star as Doug's dad, Darnell, and Rich Paul will cameo as himself.

Shahidi announced that season 6 would be the show's last chapter in March 2023, two months after the series was  renewed . In a video posted to the series' YouTube page, Shahidi explained that the Emmy-nominated  Black-ish  spinoff will also air its 100th episode during the final season. 

"You guys have been with us since season 1, and it has been such an honor to play Zoey and grow up alongside her for the past nine years," the 24-year-old said in the video. "Your support over the last five seasons has really meant the world to us, the cast and crew, and we wanna take the time to thank you all for the love and support that has kept us going."

She added, "And like I said, there's still another season to go and trust me, it's gonna be big."

Grown-ish 's ending marks the conclusion of creator and executive producer Kenya Barris'  -ish  franchise.  Black-ish  ended  after an eight-season  run on ABC in April 2022. The prequel series M ixed-ish  aired for two seasons on ABC between 2019 and 2021, and although Barris spoke of plans for an O ld-ish  spinoff starring Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis, it ultimately didn't move forward.

Barris said in a statement at the time, "We've spent nearly a decade telling our stories through the -ish series and to say it has been an amazing journey would be an understatement. To be able to watch Yara, Marcus and our entire  Grown-ish  family grow up in front of (and in many ways alongside) us over these past several years has been both a joy and an honor. From the stories we've told to the talent we've fostered and, most importantly, the memories made, I could not be more proud of everything we've accomplished and the -ish family I've been a part of."

Last April, ET spoke to Shahidi at the premiere of her new film,  Peter Pan and Wendy , where she  dished on the show coming to an end  this summer with its sixth season.

"I mean, we hit 100 episodes. Shows don't get to do that anymore," Shahidi said. "So, I think it's bitter, but primarily sweet, because we got to tell a lot of story, and I've gotten to be a lot of Zoey over the past six years."

Scriber echoed her sentiment when speaking to ET ahead of season 6's premiere . 

"I've been playing this character for 10 years; he's a great guy, I love the dude. And I'm excited for where Junior has been able to take things," he shared. "I never could have imagined when we started b lack-ish  that this is where the character would end up. So I'm very thankful and just happy with where he's gone, and I'm like, 'OK, it's time to say goodbye.'"

Despite a mature approach to the end of the road, Scribner admitted that he's "gonna be sad" when all is said and done. "I'm gonna miss my crew, my cast, the people that I've known for years and years [who have] become like a family to me at this point," he added. "It feels like I'm graduating again."

Season 6B of  Grown-ish  premieres March 27 at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform and streams the next day on Hulu.

Listen closely: On “Principles,” the jarring penultimate track of Kim Gordon ‘s new solo album, The Collective , are the words she’s wailing “an actress of life”? Or is that last word “light” or “lies” or “live” or something else? The line transmits differently if you listen to it on a big stereo, expensive headphones, a beach speaker, shitty AirPods, and shittier iPhone speakers, since she’s buried it so deeply in atmospheric reverb and industrial clanging. You gotta open up your earholes. With vocals mixed so opaquely, listening to The Collective is an act of discovery.

Gordon, who began her career as a visual artist before co-founding Sonic Youth , understands that every deep concept requires multiple perspectives. So there are many ways to hear the album.

From the opening discord of “Bye Bye,” Gordon’s aim on The Collection is surprise. The plucked plush synth pads, set to an 808-style handclap-spangled breakbeat, could serve as sonic backdrop for verses by Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, or ScHoolboy Q, and it’s equally effective for Gordon’s Delphic rapping, in this case a packing list for a trip (“sleeping pills, sneakers, boots … eyelash curler, vibrator, teaser, bye-bye”). There’s no chorus, so it feels like the rhythm and the windy way she says “con-dish-on-err” that pull you along.

Sometimes the music is pretty but often it’s harsh. On “Shelf Warmer,” it’s both at the same time as she pairs words like, “That’s what you want, that’s not what I want, return policy,” with a breakbeat and fluttering guitar. And it’s simultaneous on the thump of “I Don’t Miss My Mind,” which sighs spectral gasps around her psychedelic monologuing: “The color water, electric mirror.” It doesn’t always make sense, and it’s not always enjoyable, but it’s something you feel either way.

Her goal on The Collective , as was her goal with Sonic Youth, is to subvert listeners’ expectations. Gordon will turn 71 next month, and she’s made one of the most daring albums of her career. If you want to get it though, you have to turn it up and submit.
