On board the 95m Lürssen superyacht Kismet

  • Superyachts

"My goal was to create a yacht that many years from now will be timeless and yet still be ahead of its time. I wanted to balance awesome with welcoming,” says Shahid Khan, owner of the stunning 95m Lürssen superyacht Kismet...

A new superyacht project presents its designers with the most desirable of blank canvases.

When you get up to the 90-metre-plus mark, it’s more than a mere canvas, it’s a landscape – as empty landscapes go, this is Kentucky in the late 1600s.

But it’s not just a matter of filling the acres of virgin territory with novelties: there’s sometimes a backstory, too, which brings its own constraints.

“The stakes were high,” as exterior designer Espen Øino puts it bluntly about the initial design phase of the Lürssen Kismet .

He was also the designer of the owner’s previous Kismet (a 68-metre built at Lürssen in 2007, sold by Moran Yacht & Ship in 2013, and now named Global ).

A year after launch the owner realised he wanted something bigger. “The brief was clear: the new yacht had to be superior in all respects,” says Espen.

Screens can shelter this part of the sundeck. The spiral staircase leads to the observation deck

One’s initial impression is that there are some similarities in the look of the two Kismets – the groupings of vertical windows on the lower deck, and the rising kink from main deck level.

But the size and scale of the latest Kismet draws attention to the differences. There’s the sharper-nose and the distinctive bowsprit, as well as prominent overhangs over the wheelhouse and owner’s deck.

The dark windows stand out, too, and at a distance it is hard to define where the deck supports are, making it appear as if the decks are floating. She is a bigger beast, of course, but she actually looks more of an athlete than her sister.

“The client was very much involved in the external design of the yacht.

“The external design appearance as she appears today was penned in Chicago, in his half-finished penthouse near the top of a skyscraper,” says Espen.

“Some elements of the exterior were inspired by the Chicago skyline, such as the stainless steel air inlets aft of the funnels.”

An excellent evening retreat – the main deck cinema room

A particular emphasis from the owner’s side was on Kismet’s potential not just as a family cruising yacht but as a charter yacht and as somewhere that could be used for corporate entertaining.

These aren’t necessarily incompatible drives, but it does sharpen the design focus, and it means that the outside spaces and the inside guest areas have to brook no compromise, with relaxed and sociable areas alongside more intimate and curated spaces – what’s required is nothing less than the best of all possible worlds.

“The floorplan was very carefully laid out,” says Espen. There was, he says, “very valuable input” not only from the owner himself but also his captain Kyle Fultz and purser Geraldine Fultz, and project manager Rob Moran of Moran Yacht & Ship, who have been working for the owner for a long time. The interior design team at Reymond Langton also worked on the previous Kismet .

The first step was something of a back-to-basics approach: we know that guests on charter will favour external areas, but in what ways do they really use them?

“During the design phase of Kismet , considerable time was spent analysing the way guests would want to spend time on deck during a typical week’s cruise,” says Espen. What this research produced was an emphasis on “a number of entertainment and hang-out areas”, he adds.

This part of the sundeck, which can be screened, leads to the pool, with a run-off area if there is resonance

Since launch, the yacht has had a busy couple of years, cruising with her owner and his family, chartering for ten weeks last year, and hosting a number of large-scale parties in Florida and London.

She’s made four crossings of the Atlantic, a run to the Pacific and back, and cruised 40,000 cruising miles. There are 27 crew in all, and Kismet feels like a very happy ship.

The entertainment and hangout areas reach their exemplification in the top decks of the yacht. Espen calls the sundeck Kismet’s pièce-de-résistance, as it demonstrates the overriding theme of guest choice.

There’s an informalish dining table, close to the barbecue, with comfortable bar chairs that make it possible to linger for a meal rather than just pick at finger food. Protective screens make it possible to protect this high-up area vulnerable to sea breezes as the heat of the sun wears off.

kismet-yacht-spa

A superbly detailed spa area

Forward of this is the huge elliptical pool with a cosier hot-tub forward further still. What you might miss at first glance is that at the after end of the pool is a cascading ‘rock garden’ feature that serves as an overflow from the pool, and integrates with the skylight of the elevator.

It’s an inspired touch that keys the whole of the sundeck’s exterior design together nicely.

AV equipment in the dining area means it can be used for business meetings

The helideck on the bridge deck below transforms into another great guest area, with occasional furniture and sunshades that allow a large group of people to gather, and it can be set up as an outdoor cinema.

There’s a shaded bar area, which transforms in the evening to a disco. The wheelhouse is forward, and in front of this there is a seating area. The whole deck exemplifies the many faces of Kismet – you can gather with a group of friends on the aft deck, or inside around the bar, while if you want to escape with a book, the hanging seats provide some shade and seclusion.

yacht kismet port vendres

Up top, the observation deck has the best views in the house

Back on the sundeck, the spiral staircase provides an elegant intro to what Espen calls “possibly my favourite spot on the yacht” – a private observation deck and sunbathing area. You can lock yourself away in silent contemplation as you relax on the sunpad.

It’s a remarkable spot that also provides a DJ station during parties. The corporate entertaining face of the yacht is shown with the comprehensive RGB lighting system that can generate sponsor’s colours. Taken together, these three upper decks are a good example of how that “balance between awesome and welcoming” has been achieved.

A deck below on the owner’s deck, full use has been made of Kismet’s vastness, with the outside spaces offering something that continues the option-heavy choices of the decks above. There’s a formal dining table shaded by the overhang from the deck above and more glass screens, and served by a bar and buffet to port and starboard.

On sunny days the screens keep the wind off, but they extend right round the space. Once enclosed, guests can be suitably air-conditioned in what had been dubbed the yacht’s ‘winter garden’, and there’s certainly a relaxed, end-of-day and out-of-office feel to the place. There’s more seating aft.

yacht kismet port vendres

The bridge deck helipad transforms into a magical hangout space

Forward, the owner has access to a private deck area that offers a hot-tub and sunpads. The owner gets a great view from this private space over the clean expanse of foredeck. With the mooring gear fully enclosed on the main deck below, there was an opportunity to utilise this space in as many ways possible.

It can serve as a demi-basketball court once a hoop is erected (there are court markings on deck) and nets go up to keep the ball inboard. And it also serves as a second touch-and-go helipad. Finally, it can be shaded and tented to create an informal evening dining area.

Right forward at the stainless steel bowsprit there’s a base for the imposing 6ft tall and 15ft long removable sculpture of a jaguar – a reference to one of the owner’s sporting interests, the Jacksonville Jaguars (there are jaguar motifs everywhere on board).

This beast was created on the world’s largest 3D printer in Belgium, and is mostly deployed on match days. The eyes of the jaguar can be lit, which is presumably a feature employed on winning match days. The cat lives alongside the rescue tender when not in use.

yacht kismet port vendres

The main deck seating aft – a ‘firepit’ feature

The main deck has its own space aft, which serves as a spacious welcoming area with bars either side of a dining table. But the real attraction is aft, often a main deck area that becomes lined with seating inside the guardrails. On Kismet , there are semi-circles of seating either side of a firepit that converts to a coffee table. Once again, Kismet has myriad options for guests.

For the yacht’s interior, Reymond Langton Design’s brief was to answer two needs – to create something that gave a sense of perspective on the new 95-metre vessel, and (as with the exterior spaces) to let the yacht function as a family retreat and an entertainment hub for larger groups.

Once again, the demands aren’t necessarily conflicting, but they need to be managed if they are to be fulfilled successfully. It’s the set-piece spaces of Kismet’s interior that really impress – particularly the architectural drama of the double-height spaces on the main and owner’s deck entertainment spaces.

The bar on the main deck leads to a piano bar

Pascale Reymond calls the overall design philosophy “a rich contemporary interpretation of Art Deco themes”. The bold geometric shapes and vivid contrasts of Art Deco have been successfully used for a generation of modern superyacht interiors.

It’s a flexible form, capable of reinterpretation in a contemporary style, with a modern art vibe that never tends towards abstraction. It works for the small stuff, and the big stuff, too – and it doesn’t get much bigger than the sweeping staircase between the salons on the main and owner’s decks.

If it weren’t for the monster video walls either side, you might have been whisked back for a moment to the first-class lounge of a 1930s liner. The ornately decorated glass walkway with a view down to the main deck is an inspired touch.

yacht kismet port vendres

Decoish styling and video walls around the main deck piano lounge

There is another staircase too (opposite which is a lift to take you from the main deck to the sundeck), which frames the elegant lobby areas on the main and owner’s decks, but it’s the main staircase that serves as not only a visual feast but as a division point of the different areas.

The staircase rises over a piano bar, with a more formal lounge and bar, and a welcoming lobby, aft of that. Between the main deck foyer and the piano lounge there is a cinema room with overhead projector and semi-circle of seating. The space also doubles as a cigar room and sports bar – a further example of Kismet’s Protean charms.

An owner’s suite inspired by Chanel

Immediately above this space on the owner’s deck is the formal dining area. It makes grand use of the full beam of the yacht, and there is a further lounge aft. The owner benefits from a superbly appointed office to starboard off a centreline corridor.

There is plenty of space to play with and it has been put to good use, with a separate boudoir. Styling in the bedroom is inspired by Coco Chanel, which fits the Decoish vibe nicely, while the centreline gas fireplace adds a reassuringly homely vibe. Pascale Reymond calls the suite a “self-contained retreat at the heart of the yacht”.

yacht kismet port vendres

Guest cabins on the main deck continue the styling theme

The main-deck guest suites are divided into three twins (that convert to doubles) and two VIPs forward, with the VIPs having more of an Art Nouveau styling theme. On the lower deck, there is an occasional guest cabin, as well as a gym and superb wellness areas for guests, including an ice fountain.

Mosaics and styling details add a touch of Zen and of the mystical east to the yacht, while a sea terrace to starboard opens up the guest space. The spa is one of Kismet’s standout areas, and is proving particularly popular with charter guests.

There are so many places for guests to lose themselves here. Among Kismet’s crew is a masseuse and beautician, a hair stylist (there’s a hair and beauty parlour), and a yoga teacher.

Guests have so many great places to choose from aboard Kismet

“Walt Disney once famously said, ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’. When you experience Kismet , you know this to be true. And for that, Lürssen should be extremely proud,” owner Shahid Khan says.

The latest instalment of Kismet’s story with an Atlantic crossing after a summer in Europe that has included a cruise of Norway. Another season of dreaming and doing awaits.

On board Shahid Khan's 95m superyacht Kismet

The story of Shahid Khan's 95m superyacht Kismet

As owner of two football clubs, Shahid Khan knows the sporting maxim: you don’t change a winning team. So when he wanted a new, bigger, better version of his 60 metre Kismet he knew exactly what to do.

When Shahid Khan ordered his first Kismet , in 2004, the gist of the brief to his design team was “make it impressive”. Not only would his family be using the boat for their own enjoyment, but Khan wanted it for corporate entertaining as well as for charter service. That 68 metre motor yacht, launched in 2007 by Lürssen , was successful on all counts, but in the intervening years Khan’s business and his corporate guests have both increased in size. He now owns two football teams, one in the UK and the Jacksonville Jaguars in the US. The American footballers, in particular, mean that Khan does have some pretty bulky guests to accommodate. Sixty-eight metres just wasn’t cutting it.

Enter the new Kismet , launched in 2014, all 95 metres of her. Her size alone is impressive. Then there is the four metre silver statue of a jaguar, its paw resting on a football helmet, that graces the bow on game days; the two helipads and all that space – enough for his Jacksonville Jaguars to stage a practice. The number of decks for owner and guest use – five – is the same as on the previous yacht, but the scale of those decks, the accommodation afforded by eight suites, and especially the size of the areas dedicated to entertaining, are where the new Kismet really scores. She went on to take a win at the 2015 World Superyacht Awards , claiming top spot in the Displacement Motor Yachts of 1,3000GT to 2,999 GT of 75 metres and above category.

There are obvious advantages when the team responsible for a successful superyacht project is reassembled for an encore and, indeed, the owner brought all the original Kismet players back together: Moran Yacht & Ship , to develop the specification package and oversee the build, which again was at Lürssen; Espen Øino , for the exterior design; and Reymond Langton for the interior. Just as important in ensuring that the new yacht functions as smoothly as the first, is the fact that Captain Kyle Fultz and his wife Gerry, who serves as purser, have crewed for Shahid Khan for 15 years and have the benefit of knowing how the family lives, works and entertains. The Fultzes made frequent visits to the yard over two and a half years implementing the owners’ wishes for the new luxury yacht.

“They made it what it is,” Shahid Khan says. “Sometimes they would have to take on the yard, sometimes the designers and sometimes they would have to take on the owners,” he chuckles. “They would say to me, ‘yes, you can have that but you would have to give up this function.’ I knew the design of Kismet had to follow the function.”

Khan, who left Pakistan as a teenager to attend the University of Illinois, personifies the American dream with a story that starts with him washing dishes and selling ice cream, takes in marrying his college sweetheart Ann and results in him owning a $4.4 billion auto parts company with 13,000 employees. He first tested the waters of yacht ownership in 1999 by purchasing a 39-metre Feadship named Gallant Lady from his friend and customer, the late Jim Moran, a car dealer and philanthropist. After several years aboard the Feadship, they started talking about building from scratch.

“We were six months into the specs for his next boat when the economic crisis began,” Moran recalls. “Two weeks after Lehman Brothers collapsed, we had a meeting. The market was falling about 1,000 points a day. We were prepared to hear [Khan] say he was halting the project; instead he said: ‘Everybody thinks I’m mad but I’m going to do it.’ He’s a forward-thinking progressive and he makes decisions other guys wouldn’t.”

They started with a design of about 85 metres. “What was originally offered is not what you see today,” says Moran. “He challenged the designers a lot. He’s heavily influenced by automotive shapes and he pushed the designers to the max.” The max became 95 metres.

Pascal Reymond, of interior design firm Reymond Langton , says: “He asked us to scale up the drama of the first Kismet ; he had seen [our work on 134 metre] Serene and wanted that level of detail.” Her lead designer on the project, Jason Macaree, credits a collaborative process. “She (Ann Khan) has a clear idea of what she wants things to look like and he (Shahid) drives things to be at the edge. He presents ideas, they are good ideas, and we would work on them, bounce them back and then they would just grow.”

One example of this process is the video walls in the space separating the main saloon from the forward section of the main deck and flanking the stairs to the deck above. Originally a pair of curved stairs, like a double helix, was envisioned to rise between the floors through an open atrium and the renderings showed curved artwork surrounding the staircases. “Then it was Shahid’s idea to have one staircase only with a video wall and open space opposite. Ann said she thought there might be room for a piano there and that led to the idea of creating a more intimate lounge in that space. We made a presentation on that idea and, in the middle of that presentation, she asked if the piano could be integrated into a bar. Well, you’ve seen it, it’s a piano that can be heard through two decks and it’s a bar, but it’s really a work of art. That’s the way this entire project evolved,” says Macaree.

It is why  Kismet , despite her size and the fact that her remit is to charter, is so intensely personal. Shahid Khan says he has space to host parties for 270 people and yet there are also comfortable places to go when he’s alone on the boat.

The video walls – with one extending two decks high – are a unique piece of work, made up of 42 individual 140-centimetre monitors. Yes, they can show Fulham's football games, news or films, but they are also programmed to show digitised, high-definition moving artwork as a backdrop to life on board. The system, installed by Atlanta’s Techno Gurus, also links to a pair of high-def cameras mounted outside that can convert the walls into virtual windows.

The massive art deco staircase between the video walls leads from the main saloon to the upper deck lounge, but is not, in fact, the yacht’s centre of circulation – that is farther forward and comprises a lift and offset stairs leading to all decks. But it is the link between the four primary indoor guest entertainment areas on two decks: saloon and cinema on main deck and dining room and lounge above. It’s a feature, amongst others on board, that had Lürssen’s engineers scratching their heads.

“There were, of course, many challenging design features both inside and outside, which gave our engineers some headaches but as expected we were able to solve them all,” says Peter Lürssen, the yard’s CEO. “Particularly, the level of detail on the exterior furniture with its decorative features, was something we hadn’t done before to this extent. And the stunning staircase is a feature that has brought many engineers and craftsmen a few more grey hairs. But that’s our job."

An etched glass walkway spanning the atrium connects the bar with the dining room. It is a masterful way to keep the party connected between decks while exterior stairs link the two aft decks. During inclement weather, sliding glass panels flanking the aft owner’s deck turn that space into a winter garden and outside dining area in all but the worst winter or tropical downpours. The adjacent V-shaped bar – back-lit onyx with RGB colour controls – is party central, but to get celebrations off on the right foot, the aft main deck begins with a convivial outdoor bar. The entire area becomes one big social loop. Add in the bridge-deck lounge above, which looks out over the aft helipad, and the spacious sundeck higher still, with both pool and spa pool, and large-scale entertainment is guaranteed.

One of the challenges Reymond Langton faced was in creating enough intimacy for family use or small charter parties on such a big yacht. Smaller spaces such as the up to date cinema , which is adjacent to the six guest cabins on the main deck and doubles as a guest saloon or reading room, the bridge deck lounge up top and the gym and spa below, show that they have not forgotten the value of cosiness. In fact, there are four fireplaces aboard to ensure just that.

Kismet really shines in details. Each of the five guest suites has not only a unique colour scheme, but uniquely themed door trim. Their position on the main deck means that the suites are wide and multi-windowed. It also has an unusual feature called a sea cabin, carefully placed on the lower deck on portside amidships, where motion will be at a minimum for guests who suffer from seasickness. Of course, its placement adjacent the guest gym , the spa and the starboard side fold-down tender dock would make it equally coveted for other reasons.

“You can go one of three ways with a spa,” says Pascal Reymond. “You can either put it up top and make it surrounded by glass walls for light and views; you can put it adjacent to the beach club at the stern, but that ambiance might suffer when the stern door is closed, or you can put it deep in the ship where it’s naturally going to be dark and cosy and restful with little motion. This is what the owner chose for Kismet . It’s very much a meditative space.”

Indeed it is. Dark stones and interesting juxtaposed textures – from smooth flat rocks to glass to various wood surfaces, including a door that had patterns routed into its face and then was singed for effect – provide just the right amount of physical stimulation while the hammam, spa pool, cold plunge pool, steam shower and massage room are focused on relaxation. The light is soft and soothing.

Behind all the beautifully, exotically finished owner and guest areas lies the heart of the yacht: not just the engine room, which is a typical two-deck Lürssen paean of efficiency, but rather the attention that has been put into the operation side of things, or “back of the house”.

“The first Kismet was the first Lürssen with the ‘Moran cathedral’ engine room: two storeys, with a separate control room,” says Khan. “Some people thought it was a waste of space, but we have factory experience and know how much good visual connection improves the work.”

The crew passages and their connectedness to stores, exteriors and the areas they need to access quickly and repeatedly for service are brilliantly thought out. The main deck placement of the galley, for example, might be considered atypical yet it was arranged to service interior and exterior dining areas above and the social areas on the main deck as well as to receive provisions. The spa also has hidden access so crew or visiting therapists do not travel through owner areas.

The under-deck crew passage contains copious amounts of linen storage and connects to the laundry on the same deck. Like most of the things aboard this yacht, it is well worth the space allocation and adds to function and maintenance: key design elements that are often, unfortunately, overlooked by less experienced project teams or owners. “The crew areas, their cabins and the crew gym as well as the passageways and work spaces, have a positive impact on crew retention, our charter operation and resale,” says Khan.

Kismet itself is a Turkish word that means destiny or fate, perhaps resulting from random forces set in motion long ago, like a 16 year old arriving in America to study engineering and ending up with a superyacht.

Due to be delivered by the German shipyard this year, the vessel features a sleek exterior by Italian firm Nuvolari Lenard and an interior design by the folks at Reymond Langton in the U.K.

Spread across six decks, the sprawling living quarters feature between eight and nine cabins that can sleep up to 12 guests. Spanning two decks, the owner’s suite comprises a spacious stateroom with a skylight and fireplace, dual bathrooms, two dressing rooms, and a private Jacuzzi with a sunbathing area. A private staircase leads to the owner’s office with panoramic views, a conference table for up to six, and a dedicated pantry. The guest cabins are “exquisitely appointed and thoughtfully designed,” according to Cecil Wright. Both double and twin configurations are available, providing plenty of space and flexibility. In addition, Kismet is equipped with cabins for 36 crew plus the captain to ensure guests receive a high level of service.

Kismet Gigayacht

Health is a major focus of Kismet . A futuristic Tron -inspired corridor leads to a wellness area with every conceivable amenity, according to the British yacht dealer. Standouts include a Balinese-inspired spa with a hammam, sauna, and cryotherapy, as well as a dedicated gym and a yoga studio with a juice bar, both with opening sea terraces. In addition, the yacht has two hair and beauty rooms for preening at sea.

Description

Delivered less than a year ago, this F55 is a unique opportunity to own, essentially, a new boat without the wait for a new build! The boat was thoughtfully and meticulously ordered from Princess with no expense spared for factory customizations, options, and upgrades. Used exclusively in the primarily fresh waters of the Chesapeake Bay, the boat has been lightly cruised and is ready for immediate delivery!

Reduced 100K, the boat is in the water and available for a winter survey and sea trial.

Synonymous with quality and reliability, Princess is one of Europe’s finest builders with a longstanding reputation for using the finest materials and skipping no corners in production. Solidly constructed, Princess produces boats that are not only robust, but also elegant with a level of fit and finish seldom found from production builders. Unlike other European brands focused on being as light as possible, the F55 weighs in over 50,000 pounds. This, coupled with the famous Princess deep-vee hull and a generously sized Seakeeper 9, make the F55 tremendously stable in rough waters and a true blue water boat. Powered with a pair of Volvo D13 inboards with variable speed bow and stern thrusters, all integrated into a joystick, the boat has all the maneuverability of a pod boat, but without the added maintenance and complications.

A perfect size, the F55 is small enough for a couple to handle without issues, but big enough for three staterooms, ample outdoor area, and a generous salon. Customized with a combination SpotZero water maker and purifier, ElectroSea Clearline System, Pepwave WiFi system, and Williams Sportjet 345 tender, the boat is perfectly setup for extended cruising. Below is a list of notable upgrades, customizations, and options (click “Other Details” for full list):

  • Joystick docking control, integrates engines and variable speed bow and stern thruster

  • Exterior lighting upgrade package, includes:

  • Garbage disposal in galley
  • Teak decks throughout
  • Salon full size dining / coffee table with twin electrically operated leg mechanisms (in place of standard coffee or dining table)
  • 110V outlets added in salon cabinetry for future appliance installs
  • Removeable teak tender chalks with trip-free padeye tie down system
  • All cabins with Fusion stereo system and TV integration

The teak-laid foredeck features an oversized sunpad with hinging backrests for lounging. A forward-facing bench seat is aft of the high-gloss teak cockpit table, making the bow a perfect entertaining area at anchor or while enjoying a cocktail cruise. A designated Fusion stereo can either act as a stand-alone audio system or be tied together with the boats other Fusion stereos. The anchor locker is extra deep, making it ideal for storing fenders without lugging them from the cockpit. A freshwater washdown is concealed for washing the anchor and chain when needed.

The flybridge features a forward, port side helm, opposite the starboard side lower helm. This gives great sight lines to either side whether docking port or starboard side to the dock. With a complete Garmin electronics package identical to the lower helm, the captain can decide on helm stations simply based on weather and preference, not based on equipment. The hardtop has overhead lighting, upgraded JL speakers, and an electric opening soft hatch for added sunlight and air flow. Painted in Oyster Grey, the hardtop helps Princess create their unique stylish, yet classic exterior lines.

A flybridge wetbar houses an electric grill and sink, aft of two helm seats. L-shaped, starboard side companion seating can be easily converted to a sun lounge with aft and forward-facing backrests. A massive U-shaped seating arrangement is in the aft part of the bridge, complete with a beautiful high-gloss teak table that folds out for large parties and folds in for easier seating access. With more seating than most other flybridge boats in class, the boat can host a small crowd on the bridge to keep the captain with guests and socializing.

The transom has a electro-hydraulic swim platform with a lifting capacity just shy of 1,000lbs. Included with the sale of the boat is a 2023 Williams Sportjet 345 with 90HP Rotax engine ordered with the intelligent neutral reverse bucket and digital depth finder, among other options. Removeable teak tender chalks and a removeable pad eye system with flush mounted hardware, make the platform completely free of any trip hazards when the tender is deployed. Starboard and port cockpit access makes boarding easy, even with the tender raised.

A plush C-shaped sofa sits centerline in the cockpit with high-gloss folding teak table can be extended for formal dining or closed for more standing and sitting room. Overhead and low-level lights light up the cockpit, perfect for entertaining at night. The Lumishore underwater lights are controlled from an interface in the cockpit, right next to the dedicated cockpit Fusion stereo. A foldout cockpit docking station makes it very easy to back into a slip or dock starboard side. Opening side boarding doors on the port and starboard side provide ease of boarding from fixed piers.

Crew quarter access is cleverly hidden through the starboard side cockpit access steps. The crew quarter has a single berth, head with shower, and sink, making it a fully capable extra stateroom for kids or guests when needed. Because of the 6,000BTU air conditioning, not only is it comfortable as a sleeping quarter, but when used as storage, it is climate-controlled, preventing items from getting too hot and protecting them from high humidity.

The aft galley completely opens up and integrates to the cockpit with a hinging window and sliding doors. When open, a bar forms as the island galley countertop combines with an exterior countertop. The port side galley is sunken giving it more storage and standing room than the rest of the salon. The aft galley is most sought after arrangement in the industry as it keeps the galley central and close to the entertaining areas of the boat, not far from the salon or the cockpit. Plenty of overhead and under-counter storage, a full-size refrigerator and freezer, induction cooktop, and convection oven give a chef all the comforts of a home kitchen.

The salon sits forward with opposing facing sofas and an electric high-low table. The table is very versatile as it can be folded out and slide towards the sofa to act as a dining table, or folded closed and slide away from the sofa when being used as a coffee table. A high-low 50” TV is housed outboard of the starboard side sofa and is paired with the overhead surround sound speakers. With the boats Pepwave 5G WiFi system, it’s easy to stream from all the popular services without having to worry about the hassle and expense of Satellite TV.

Opening windows on the port and starboard side of the forward salon are lowered with the push of a button and help create cross ventilation on nice fall and spring days. The lower helm sits to the starboard side with a large windshield and excellent visibility. The joystick and throttles are ergonomically placed on the starboard side shelf, near the opening window, which gives excellent visibility when docking. Dual 16” Garmin displays and a 7” Volvo display are all networked together to give plenty of screen real estate for all types of displayed information. The helm is further complimented by a Seakeeper display, searchlight control, bow and stern thruster control, and helm switches.

Below deck, the full beam master stateroom has plenty of storage thanks in part to a large starboard side closet and deep chest of drawers. On the port side is a custom sofa in lieu of the settee in other F55’s, perfect for lounging and watching TV in privacy, away from the salon. Large hull side windows flood the stateroom with natural light and opening portholes on either side make it easy to get fresh air. A 43” TV sits on the forward bulkhead, easily seen from the bed or the lounge.

Both the master and day head feature basin style sinks and mirrored medicine cabinets. The showers have windows with blinds and opening portholes to air out after use. Extractor fans and air conditioning vents keep both heads well ventilated and cooled.

The VIP stateroom sits forward with a centerline berth that is mostly island style with room to get around and make the bed. Overhead cabinetry and hanging lockers on either side give plenty of storage area. Hull side windows on either side keep guests connected with the water and opening portholes make it easy to get fresh air. A 32” TV sits on the aft bulkhead and is tied into the staterooms Fusion stereo for surround sound. Day head access is ensuite through a port side door.

The starboard side guest stateroom has two single berths, that slide together to make a larger bed when hosting another couple. Keeping in tune with the rest of the staterooms, the guest stateroom is dressed with overhead reading lights, richly appointed cabinetry, and designer materials. A dedicated Fusion stereo with surround sound speakers and 32” TV keep guests entertained.

This F55 is a unique opportunity to get an essentially new boat without the wait time for a new build. It was thoughtfully and meticulously optioned and customized from Princess.

9 Day Balearics Charter Itinerary - Port Vendres to Port Vendres

Ideal for Summer Season

This collection of islands off the eastern coast of Spain has long been considered one of the most idyllic spots in the Western Mediterranean, and a haven for luxury yachting. Between the pristine, tranquil island of Formentera and the international party hub of Ibiza, these gorgeous isles offer something for every mood, whether you want to swim, dive and relax on beautiful beaches, or party from dusk ‘til dawn, the Balearics are a yacht charter paradise.

Ciutadella, Menorca Distance: 40 nm*

Ciutadella, Menorca

Embark on your  Balearics luxury yacht charter  in Port Vendres, France and cruise to Ciudadela, Menorca.

Menorca, the ‘jewel of the Balearics’ has retained much of its virgin landscape and traditional Spanish heritage and is more suited to laid-back, nature-loving trips. Menorca is blessed with a stunningly beautiful coastline boasting more beaches than all the other  Balearic Islands  put together, and is consequently a veritable Eden for sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts. Menorca is most famous for its enticing coastal charms, but it is also home to several other diverse natural habitats. All of these ecosystems harbour rich collections of flora and fauna, including a number that are specific to the island.

In Ciutadella, peer into 19th-century buildings carved from magnificent rose-coloured sandstone. In the morning, visit the Pastisseria des Centre, which has sold flaky Balearic powdered sugar pastries called "ensaïmadas" since 1881. Try the homemade almond ice cream at Sa Gelateria de Menorca, and visit one of the ubiquitous sandal shops.

Ciutadella, Menorca

Mahon, Menorca Distance: 110 nm*

Mahon, Menorca

On this day you and your guests will be cruising to Mahon on the Eastern part of Menorca.

Mahon is the capital of the island, and no charter will be complete without visiting this idyllic hotspot. Wander the streets and admire the Art Nouveau architecture around the cathedral and the magnificent views of the coast. The enormous port has drawn visitors and traders in for centuries. As a result, Mahon feels more open to the world than Ciutadella.

Historically, Menorca is one of the richest islands in the Mediterranean and is often referred to as an ‘open-air museum’. It is permeated with archaic ruins, old fortresses and ancient churches, all of which mark various periods in the island’s tumultuous history.

Mahon, Menorca

Andraitx, Mallorca Distance: 20 nm*

Andraitx, Mallorca

From Mahon, you will cruise overnight towards Andraitx,  Mallorca .

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and is loved for its sublime weather and beautiful beaches, boasting more than 200 to choose from. While the dramatic coastline of the island presents a myriad of spots to relax and unwind, the mountains offer an altogether different holiday experience. There you will discover picturesque hilltop villages amid lush landscapes; villages such as Valldemossa, Deia and Soller are outstanding settings and have lots of character and charm.

The island is perfect for leisure activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, and sailing, as well as golfing, horseback riding and go-carting. When you arrive you will certainly be eager to try some of the island's traditional delicacies. Restaurant Can Pep is located right by the marina in Avenida Mateo Bosch and offers a luxurious dining experience. There are also many cafes where you can try the local blends before you visit the nearby fish markets. Take the time to barter with the local fishermen for the evening's supper.

Andraitx, Mallorca

Palma, Mallorca Distance: 75 nm*

Palma, Mallorca

On the fourth day of your luxury yacht charter , you and your guests will visit the capital of Mallorca, Palma.

Palma is Mallorca’s biggest city and is the cultural and historical capital of the Balearic Islands. Due to its wonderful array of buildings, bustling nightlife, and popular beach resorts, the town attracts a growing number of visitors every year. For a truly memorable day, we recommend that you begin by visiting Puerobeach or Anima beach club. With a lovely harbour, beautiful skyline, interesting museums and bustling street markets, the town is easy to tour on foot.

Palma has a very special ambience and the main sights are all grouped at the heart of the city. The great Gothic cathedral, La Seu, and l’Almudaina Palace stand opposite each other and are the main tourist attractions. Also nearby is Banys Arabs, the 10th-century Arab baths with huge columns, intricate architecture, and lovely gardens. After a day of exploring the tourist hot spots, be sure to reserve a table at Marc Fosh or Adrian Quetglas where you can end your day by indulging in style.

Formentera Island Distance: 10 nm*

Formentera Island

From Palma, take an evening cruise to the island of  Formentera .

Formentera is the smallest of the Balearic Islands and is located just off the coast of Ibiza. It is often referred to as the ‘last paradise of the Mediterranean’ due to its lack of urban development and limited number of luxury resorts. We highly recommend Beso Beach or Juan and Andrea if you want to begin your adventure through Formentera in style.

Visitors to the island are attracted to its breathtaking natural beauty and laid back, easy-going atmosphere - a complete contrast to the crowds and commercialism of the neighbouring isles. Formentera is dominated by stunning beaches of pure white sand that lead down to the clear turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. Many beaches are deserted and it is possible to spend a whole day lazing about without ever laying eyes on another soul.

Formentera is an excellent dive location, partly because infrastructure development has been kept to a minimum to lower levels of pollution, but also because the island is blessed with exquisite reefs, aquatic life, clear waters and underwater caves.

Discover Ibiza Distance: 65 nm*

Discover Ibiza

On this day you will arrive at the famous party capital,  Ibiza .

Following yesterday's serene and relaxing time in Formentera, today you will begin your two-day adventure through Ibiza. The island's beautiful coastline is primarily what attracts most visitors, and with over 80 beaches to choose from it’s not difficult to find somewhere to anchor and catch some sun.

There is also a fabulous variety of beach clubs at your disposal; for a sumptuous and regal experience, we recommend that you visit Cotton or Tanit beach club. However, if you're looking for a more deluxe party scene, why not see what Nassau Beach Club has to offer. You can choose to dine on board your motor yacht , but if you want to sample the flavours of the island be sure to reserve a table at Aubergine or Sublimotion.

In these two days, you will be able to visit popular landmarks such as the old town, the underground caverns, or even Es Vedra, which you can reach via your yacht. But, also be sure to find the time for some well deserved R&R by taking part in some beachfront yoga classes or by visiting one of the many spas Ibiza has on offer.

Discover Ibiza

Dragonera Island Distance: 190 nm*

Dragonera Island

On your eighth day, you will breakfast onboard your superyacht as you cruise from Ibiza to Dragonera Island.

Dragonera was proclaimed a Natural Park on January 26, 1995. It became a model of the defence of nature in Majorca after 20 years of claims and fight against overdevelopment carried out by ecologist groups led by GOB.

Throughout history, there have been many flourishing settlements in Dragonera. Its resources and secluded location made it a prime anchorage for the Saracen Pirates, once upon a time. Perhaps there is still some treasure waiting for you to discover it.

The island is 2,88 hectares big and it is 3700 metres long with plenty of cosy beaches t unwind in. Vistors often hike up to the highest point, Far Vell hill (353 m), where they get awe-inspiring views of the nature reserve. On the west coast, there are spectacular cliffs that can be up to 300m high. The eastern part goes down smoothly towards coves and Cala Lledó port, where information on Sa Dragonera is displayed in the visitor's centre.

The island is full of wildlife and is home to some rare species of birds and lizards. Rest assured, it is completely safe to wander the heavily forested island and is certainly a worthwhile trip.

Disembark in Port Vendres

Disembark in Port Vendres

Today will be the final day of your luxury yacht charter adventure through the Balearic Islands.

The cruise to Port Vendres will take about half a day, so you will have plenty of time to reflect on the experiences you have had this past week. Be sure to spend a few hours in the morning playing on your yachts water toys before you make way to your final destination.

After a day of lounging about in the sun, you will arrive in Port Vendres where you will sadly bring an end to your time in this idyllic Mediterranea  spot. However, you will have the memories you have created to last a lifetime, or at least until your next charter vacation.

  • Kismet 2023 PRINCESS YACHTS F55 Motor Yacht Yacht MLS #380495

Kismet - 2023 55' PRINCESS YACHTS F55 Baltimore Maryland United States $2,695,000 USD

Delivered less than a year ago, this F55 is a unique opportunity to own, essentially, a new boat without the wait for a new build! The boat was thoughtfully and meticulously ordered from Princess with no expense spared for factory customizations, options, and upgrades. Used exclusively in the primarily fresh waters of the Chesapeake Bay, the boat has been lightly cruised and is ready for immedia te delivery!

Unlike other European brands focused on being as light as possible, the F55 weighs in over 50,000 pounds . This, coupled with the famous Princess deep-vee hull and a generously sized Seakeeper 9 , make the F55 tremendously stable in rough waters and a true blue water boat . Powered with a pair of Volvo D13 inboards with variable speed bow and stern thrusters , all integrated into a joystick , the boat has all the maneuverability of a pod boat, but without the added maintenance and complications.

A perfect size, the F55 is small enough for a couple to handle without issues, but big enough for three staterooms, ample outdoor area, and a generous salon. Customized with a combination SpotZero water maker and purifier, ElectroSea Clearline System, Pepwave WiFi system , and Williams Sportjet 345 tender , the boat is perfectly setup for extended cruising. Below is a list of notable upgrades, customizations, and options (click “Other Details” for full list):

The teak-laid foredeck features an oversized sunpad with hinging backrests for lounging. A forward-facing bench seat is aft of the high-gloss teak cockpit table , making the bow a perfect entertaining area at anchor or while enjoying a cocktail cruise.

The flybridge features a forward, port side helm , opposite the starboard side lower helm. Painted in Oyster Grey , the hardtop helps Princess create their unique stylish, yet classic exterior lines.

A flybridge wetbar houses an electric grill and sink , aft of two helm seats.

The transom has a electro-hydraulic swim platform with a lifting capacity just shy of 1,000lbs . Included with the sale of the boat is a 2023 Williams Sportjet 345 with 90HP Rotax engine ordered with the intelligent neutral reverse bucket and digital depth finder , among other options.

The Lumishore underwater lights are controlled from an interface in the cockpit, right next to the dedicated cockpit Fusion stereo . A foldout cockpit docking station makes it very easy to back into a slip or dock starboard side. Opening side boarding doors on the port and starboard side provide ease of boarding from fixed piers.

Crew quarter access is cleverly hidden through the starboard side cockpit access steps. The crew quarter has a single berth, head with shower, and sink , making it a fully capable extra stateroom for kids or guests when needed. Because of the 6,000BTU air conditioning , not only is it comfortable as a sleeping quarter, but when used as storage, it is climate-controlled, preventing items from getting too hot and protecting them from high humidity.

The aft galley completely opens up and integrates to the cockpit with a hinging window and sliding doors . Plenty of overhead and under-counter storage , a full-size refrigerator and freezer, induction cooktop, and convection oven give a chef all the comforts of a home kitchen.

The salon sits forward with opposing facing sofas and an electric high-low table . The table is very versatile as it can be folded out and slide towards the sofa to act as a dining table , or folded closed and slide away from the sofa when being used as a coffee table . A high-low 50” TV is housed outboard of the starboard side sofa and is paired with the overhead surround sound speakers . With the boats Pepwave 5G WiFi system , it’s easy to stream from all the popular services without having to worry about the hassle and expense of Satellite TV.

The helm is further complimented by a Seakeeper display, searchlight control, bow and stern thruster control, and helm switches .

Below deck, the full beam master stateroom has plenty of storage thanks in part to a large starboard side closet and deep chest of drawers .

Both the master and day head feature basin style sinks and mirrored medicine cabinets .

A 32” TV sits on the aft bulkhead and is tied into the staterooms Fusion stereo for surround sound . Day head access is ensuite through a port side door.

The starboard side guest stateroom has two single berths , that slide together to make a larger bed when hosting another couple. Keeping in tune with the rest of the staterooms, the guest stateroom is dressed with overhead reading lights, richly appointed cabinetry, and designer materials . A dedicated Fusion stereo with surround sound speakers and 32” TV keep guests entertained.

This F55 is a unique opportunity to get an essentially new boat without the wait time for a new build. It was thoughtfully and meticulously optioned and customized from Princess.

The flybridge features a forward, port side helm , opposite the starboard side lower helm. Painted in Oyster Grey , the hardtop helps Princess create their unique stylish, yet classic exterior lines.

A flybridge wetbar houses an electric grill and sink , aft of two helm seats.

The helm is further complimented by a Seakeeper display, searchlight control, bow and stern thruster control, and helm switches .

Below deck, the full beam master stateroom has plenty of storage thanks in part to a large starboard side closet and deep chest of drawers .

Both the master and day head feature basin style sinks and mirrored medicine cabinets .
