The local climate plays a vital role here. Blessed with a Mediterranean climate, Bodrum enjoys hot summers and mild winters. Hence, the sailing season typically falls between April and October, with July and August being the peak months.

From intimate vessels perfect for a solo retreat to grand ships capable of accommodating large parties, Bodrum has it all.

Lastly, remember to respect the inherent wildness of the sea. Even within the sanctuary of your yacht, safety should always remain paramount. Ensure you are well-versed with basic safety protocols, and always respect the rhythm of nature.

The Ideal Vessel for Bodrum's Symphony

Now, we arrive at the question of the optimal yacht for Bodrum's waters. This is not merely a choice of luxury, but a carefully considered decision that requires an understanding of the local seascape.

In Bodrum, the waters are typically calm, lending themselves well to leisurely exploration. For this purpose, motor yachts make a splendid choice. Their stability, coupled with the flexibility to navigate at a faster pace, allows you to savor the coastal beauty in comfort and style.

Yet, for those in search of an authentic nautical experience, a sailing yacht presents an appealing option. These vessels, moved by the invisible hand of the wind, bring you closer to the heart of the sea. The rhythmic dance of the sails against the wind creates a mesmerizing spectacle, a tribute to the art of seafaring.

In conclusion, yacht rental in Bodrum is a rare opportunity to taste the unadulterated essence of the sea, while ensconced in the lap of luxury. And so, as you contemplate embarking on this journey, remember that it is not merely an excursion, but an invitation to witness a grand symphony where you, the sea, and the rhythm of nature become one.

Turkey is well known for it’s sailing opportunities and Bodrum is for good reason one of the most popular areas to start, finish and generally enjoy during a charter yacht vacation in the region.

This vibrant port city can be found in the southwestern corner of the beautiful Turkish peninsula of the same name and is packed with as many cosmopolitan bars, great restaurants and chic shopping areas as it is historical and cultural sights. Here you can enjoy the many delights of the meandering East Mediterranean summer season, whether you’re mingling in with the hustle and bustle on land or finding your own patch of serenity floating in the blue of the Aegean.

Overlooked by the historical St Peter’s Castle (home of the Museum of Underwater Archaeology), Bodrum’s exceptionally well-equipped harbour has long welcomed the world’s superyachts of all shapes and sizes to its shores. The waterfront is full of chic restaurants which buzz through the summer months with those looking to hop onto land for a few hours and soak up the sophisticated atmosphere. The city itself meanwhile still evokes the traditional beauty of this part of the world with its white washed, blue-trimmed buildings and squares lined with busy cafes, all protected by laws that restrict over development.

There’s plenty to see, eat and do if you’re spending some time ashore, not least of which is a visit to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Dating back to between 353 and 350 BC, this ancient tomb has been declared one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and today stands as one of Turkey’s most famous landmarks. What’s left of the ruins today give a sense of the importance of the site in Bodrum and the intricacy of the sculptures and architecture, combined with extended gardens create a perfect cultural setting.

Between the livelier yachting spots of Bodrum and Marmaris are the strikingly unspoilt peninsulas of Gökova and Bozburun which form the border of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. Here you can explore the rural beauty of Turkey, from rugged stretches of coastlines to idyllic bays and islets, it’s the perfect place to switch off and enjoy the surroundings. This can also be a great opportunity to extend your charter itinerary into the glamorous Turkish Riviera and the gorgeous Greek islands . Go traditional on a magnificent Turkish Gulet , indulge in a sumptuous luxury motor yacht or build up some speed on a sports yacht.

As with so many cities in Turkey, Bodrum has seen its fair share of empires and history. Built 500 years ago, St Peter's Castle overlooks the town, which was an active port in Byzantine times. You will enjoy the bazaars that have traded for hundreds of years, and get a taste of the 'real Turkey' as you explore its streets and alleys.

Other towns on the Turkish Riviera have made names for themselves as being a bit on the cheap vacation end of the spectrum. This is emphatically not Bodrum's style. This is a vacation town where the wealthiest Turks come to let their hair down. You can see this as soon as the port town appears on the horizon - there are no high rise hotels and the architecture is distinctly Turkish from end to end. The local government has fought hard to keep the style and those that visit it decidedly upmarket.

You will find boutiques that are open to those with more discerning tastes, privately owned yachts in the marinas that aren't cheap to own or run, and people who have a certain cut of their cloth wandering between attractions.

On your Bodrum yacht charter you will notice that many of the hotels have their own jetties - these are both for their customers to enjoy the water and to encourage visiting yachts to moor alongside and take advantage of their hospitality.

Explore Bodrum By Renting A Yacht

On your Bodrum yacht charter, perhaps on your gulet vacation or luxury yacht, finding Bodrum more your style than Marmaris there are two other resorts on the Bodrum Peninsula you should visit - Turgutreis and Yalikavak.

On the west coast of the Bodrum Peninsula and just 20km by road from the main town, Turgutreis shares the laid back, upmarket vibe of the larger town. The marina itself welcomes superyachts and you may see a famous face or two on Artist Street in the marina, looking at the boutiques and art galleries.

Yalikavak lies on the north coast of the Bodrum Peninsula and for those who wish to escape the modern world on your charter yacht, do head across Yalikavak Bay to the hand carved caves close to Kudor - these show the brightest and the best from prehistoric lived in the area too!

Looking back south from Bodrum, the Greek island of Kos is closer than the next major vacation resort of Marmaris. For those who wish to enjoy the Aegean Sea at its best, pausing at this island as you head on to the secluded bays, ancient relics and quieter vacation resorts of the Datca Peninsula could well be an option.

How To Get To Bodrum

There are two Turkish airports that serve Bodrum - Bodrum Airport and Dalaman Airport. You can also fly into Kos and take a ferry over to Bodrum to widen your options - this can be quicker and more reliable than a flight to Dalamanand a bus onward.

Bodrum Airport

Only charter flights fly into Bodrum from the UK and much of Europe in the summer months. If you can only get a sceduled flight then you will have to fly to Istanbul and take a connecting flight on to Bodrum. From there it is a short shuttle bus ride to Bodrum town.

Dalaman Airport

This takes sceduled flights from a number of European airports every day.

For around GBP $12 you would take two buses the 120km or so to Bodrum. After taking the shuttle bus to Dalamanbus station, you will then catch the once daily bus onto Bodrum bus station. The trip involves around 6 hours actual travel time.

Kos Airport

This busy vacation airport administered by Greece has a large number of flights in every week from across Europe.

The car ferry takes around two hours to get between the Greek island and Bodrum. With the bus or taxi it can cost as little as GBP $30 per head to get to Bodrum from Kos Airport.

Suggested Sailing Routes From Bodrum

Whether on a seven or 14 day, bareboat or blue cruise Bodrum yacht charter, you have a number of options to consider on your sailing vacation. Here we will make some suggestions for you to consider.

7 days - Bodrum Peninsula and Greek islands : Without doing too many sea miles every day you can take in the best of the Turkish Riviera and even sail into Greek waters. Yalikavak and Turgutreis share Bodrum's upmarket resort attitude, and you can explore the ancient ruins nearby as you wish. Perhaps after an excursion in Yalikavak you can head south to the Greek vacation islands of Symi and Kos. Both have their share of hidden bays and beautiful beaches as well as relics from the civilisations that ran the region for thousands of years.

14 days - Datca Peninsula and Greek islands: You don't have to visit Marmaris to enjoy the Datca Peninsula! Orhaniye on the north coast is surrounded by pine forest and has relics of the ancient kingdom of Bybassos. The Carian ruins of Knidos will give you lots to photograph too!The Bozburun Peninsula has many such remains too. As well as these Turkish mainland and islands, you can also head to the Greek islands of Kos and Symi - these will shorten a sail across the Gokova Gulf and Hisarönü Gulf as you explore the region.

Best Times To Rent A Yacht In Bodrum

The sailing season runs from April to October in Bodrum. July and August are the busiest months for an Bodrum yachtcharter. This is also when the NE wind the Meltemi peaks in strength. Though this makes for a cooling blast from the fierce heat of summer, it can be challenging for all but the most experienced sailors.

With the Meltemi less powerful outside of the peak season - and the marinas and sailing waters less crowded - it may pay off to do a sailing vacation either later in the year or earlier - if you can get out in May or October you may find things calmer both in terms of crowds and winds!

Sailing Weather In Bodrum

The Meltemi winds dominate the weather of the Aegean Sea in Turkey. The further west you go - as far as Bodrum the stronger the NW winds are during the day. The further east you go - around Antalya in the east of the country, the gentler these winds are during the day. These vary day to day and through the day. The most comfortable time to sail in Turkey is during the morning every day during the vacation season. The winds tend to be lighter and steadier in the morning and can build to very exciting conditions come mid-afternoon.

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a captain, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

The main marina is Milta Bodrum Marina, though you will find that many restaurants and even hotels have their own jetties too - if sailing into the area consider these as alternatives, though you will have to patronise them in return!

The winds, crowds and heat are at their peak in July and August. If you can manage to get out in September or October you will still find it much hotter than Northern Europe but a lot quieter than the peak months.

You will typically pay 50% up front on reservation the yacht rent and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat rental before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool on most evenings.

If you want to sail without a captain then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a captained on board your yacht charter you typically don't require licences.

We are confident that our prices are the most competitive and transparent in the market.

We won't charge any booking fees when you make a booking with us.

We have the highest number of verified and vetted boats available on the market.

“Fresh fish, picturesque bays and maximum relaxation - a sailing holiday in Bodrum. “Hos geldiniz” is how the locals of Bodrum greet their guests. Welcome to the vibrant and popular seaside resort on the Aegean coast. Bodrum has about 30,000 inhabitants and is located in the province of Mugla in southwestern Turkey. In a theatrical setting, the beauty of Bodrum offers relaxation for tourists from all over the world.

Who can say “No” to go on a private yacht cruise to the most charming places of the city , right in the middle of blue waters? If you like, you can rent a yacht with friends or family for a short or long cruise and have fun.

Our yachts, which have been carefully selected for you, are ready for all kinds of activities that you may like. You can have a great time with your loved ones, Celebrating weddings, engagements, anniversaries or even business trips . Our professional team will be ready to serve you in the best way. We can guarantee you the happiest moments on our yachts that you rent.

Gourmet Paradise

Mediterranean cuisine is one of the most important aspects of renting a yacht, and lunch on board a private yacht is superior to a five-star hotel, as the food tastes better when you enjoy in the company of your loved ones outdoors with a view of the stunning natural beauty of the Turkish Riviera or under the stars. A variety of dishes are prepared with local seasonal products, including fresh fish and seafood .

A former fishing village lures its hungry visitors into the bustling old town and offers them many first-class restaurants that constantly offer fresh fish directly from the grill. And when it gets dark, visit the many open-air clubs and stylish bars the city offers.

These and other reasons make Bodrum the pearl of the Mediterranean . Due to the mild Mediterranean climate, which even in winter is not inclined to fall below 15ºC (59ºF) - Bodrum has long been a popular destination for lovers of beach and sailing. The city never had snow or even frost, which makes many Bodrum residents call winter “sonobahar” - “second spring”. With more than 2500 hours of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 30ºC (86ºF) in the summer months from May to October.

An unforgettable vacation, both on land and on water

Bodrum is a paradise for people who love the sun - both on land and at sea. Typical Meltemi winds - strong, dry northerly winds blowing from May to mid-September around the Aegean have a pleasant effect . The waves also remain calm due to the strategic location of the coast and the city. This wind is a special pleasure for sailors and yachtsmen, because the wind can accelerate the boat without increasing the fluctuations of the water. Crystal clear water also offers many activities. In the vicinity of Bodrum you can go diving, snorkelling, water skiing, swimming and surfing, not to mention many other activities.

We are sure that you will enjoy the feeling of a boat stopping and diving in the refreshing waters of Bodrum under the hot summer sun. Regardless of your budget, there are yachts in our fleet to suit your needs . You can rent a small economical gulet for a cruise in the Bodrum bays or you can make a private rental for an ultra-luxury yacht and surprise your loved ones.
