Guide to the Yacht Week Croatia Itinerary

  • By Susan Weston

What is Yacht Week Croatia?

Yacht Week is a week-long sailing adventure around the Croatian Islands on your own Catamaran. It is basically college spring break with an itinerary of partying all day and night. Our boat was the oldest ranging from our late 20s to 52 (Damn Damon), but I had assumed it would all be college kids, and it wasn’t. Most boats were in their 20’s and early 30’s. Despite our ages, our boat was the party boat, and we ended up with quite the reputation.

Itinerary Day 1 – Trogir

Day 1 was frustrating. We were all super excited. We had already checked out of our hotels and had all our luggage with us, but we had to wait until almost 5 p.m. for the skipper and host to prepare the boat. We spent breakfast and lunch at the same restaurant (poor servers). Then we went to the pier and sat there waiting and waiting and waiting. It was a buzz kill for sure, but it all worked out. Just be prepared.

Shout out to our skipper, Simon and host, Mia! They were the best and were 100% the reason we had such a good time.

Itinerary Day 1 was spent waiting Yacht Week Croatia

It’s important to know which marina your boat will leave from when planning your accommodations. We departed from ACL Marina Trogir, which is located farther away from Split but closer to the airport, so it worked out well for us. The pre-party on Day 1 was held at Padres, a bar located in Trogir. Since we were staying in Trogir, we could easily walk to the bar instead of taking a water taxi like other Yacht Week boats. Just a heads up – your catamaran will not leave the dock until Day 2.

Cover Charges During Yacht Week

Carpe Diem, Padres, Hula Hula, Club 585 and Fort George are private Yacht Week events. Other events are for the general public, but your Yacht Week bracelet grants free entry.

Itinerary Day 2 – Hvar

We sailed to the ACL Marina Palmizana near Hvar. It is a small, secluded island with a beach, a coffee shop, and showers. In the evening, we took a water taxi to the beach club Carpe Diem, located on its island of Stipanska, for the Siren’s Call party. It was sad to see that many people didn’t follow the theme. Don’t be those people. After that, we took a boat taxi into Hvar and went to Kiva Bar. Hvar is a beautiful city with small alleys filled with bars and restaurants. Although Kiva was fun, it was packed with people.

Laundry During Yacht Week Croatia

The ACL Marina Palmizana has laundry facilities. It is a perfect time to do laundry because you will spend two nights here.

Itinerary Day 3 – Hvar

Today is usually day 5 on the itinerary, but it was changed due to the weather. Normally, it is a much-needed recharge day. We spent the day hanging out with all the other Yacht Weekers on our boats, as there wasn’t much to do on the small island.  In the evening, we went into Hvar again. Our host recommended hiking 15 minutes to the fort for sunset, but it looked high, and we were lazy. There was a Yacht Week party at Hula Hula. It’s just a short walk from the water taxi drop-off.

Yacht Week Drinking Tip: Roadies

Get some roadies for your walk to Hula Hula. We didn’t, and our new friends from London gave me a warm beer. I was appreciative, but why is it only Americans who like super cold drinks?

Advice for Hula Hula, Hvar

Getting a drink at Hula Hula was impossible, but we walked another 2 minutes and found a bar on the right-hand side with no line and a better view. I even met a guy from my hometown, which is very small. It is a small world.

At dinner, I decided to practice my Croatian language skills. I learned that “živjeli” means “cheers” in Croatian. I thought I was pronouncing the word perfectly, but the waitress and my table mates did not agree. The waitress spent 5 minutes at our table trying to help me before shaking her head and giving up. Nonetheless, I will never forget the word; I even got it tattooed on my back in Croatian Script.

Water Taxis

We bought round-trip tickets for our water taxi, but when we went to head home, we were told the taxi we had tickets for only came every hour. It was strange. They all looked the same.  The man who claimed that “he wasn’t our taxi” allowed me to board anyway, so who knows. It was a rough ride. I ended up sitting on the floor of the tiny boat between all the passengers. At least I was protected from getting wet. Just make sure the boat is going back to the right marina.

Where to Eat:   Silk (Ul. Sveti Marak 14, 21450, Hvar, Croatia) Serving Pan-Asian Fresh Street Food. Our host recommended it.

Itinerary Day 4 – Bol

On day 4 of the itinerary, we sailed to Bol. Our skipper was the lead, so we tied up along the waterfront while other boats had to anchor in the marina and take a tender. We walked 15 minutes along the beach to the Auro Beach Bar. The bar is at the island’s tip and was very windy, so beware. There is a little train that drives back and forth if you are feeling hungover. At night, everyone headed to Club 585. I won’t name names, but someone forgot I was in the bathroom on the boat and left without me. I’m blaming the alcohol.

Where to Eat: Taverna Riva (Frane radića 5, 21420 Bol, Croatia) – Located on the waterfront across from our catamaran. Beautiful view and delicious Mediterranean food.

Itinerary Day 5 – Sailing

Today was Regatta Day, which we thought would be a big event, but it turned out to be a simple sailing trip. We sailed together to our destination, where we anchored for the Tunnel Raft Party. Our group dressed in a Mario Cart theme for the Regatta but then changed into regular beach clothes.

The Tunnel Raft Party was a blast. All the boats were tied together in two long lines. A DJ played music from a boat in the middle, and everyone floated on their rafts and walked from boat to boat, enjoying the party. Again, we were lucky to have the lead skipper, so he ensured we were right next to the DJ. We transformed our boat into a Vegas Club with a VIP section guarded by a Velvet Rope. Damon and Johnny acted as bouncers, and anyone who passed by had to get a “Welcome to the Shit Show” tattoo. There was a rumor that our boat was the “Only Fans” boat, but that’s another story.

Itinerary Day 6 – Vis

Half of the group went on a day trip to a cave, while I decided to stay behind and find a coffee shop with Wi-Fi. At this point, I still had no idea where I was going after Yacht Week. I had no plans for the eight days until my flight back to the US. We had one last dinner with our skipper and host and went to Fort George for the final party.

Where to Eat: Villa Rustica (Mijurovac ul. 16, 21480, Vis, Croatia) – Most of the Yacht Weekers went to Fort George for dinner before the party, but our host recommended this restaurant for traditional Croatian food. It was delicious and within walking distance from our boat.

Itinerary Day 7 – Back to Marina

Sadly, we had to sail back to the marina. We stopped and had one more opportunity to swim before packing and cleaning.

And that is what the itinerary looks like on Yacht Week in Croatia. Would I go again? Absolutely. Have you already booked your trip? Check out the Top 11 Tips to Know Before Yacht Week Croatia .

Everything You Wanted to Know About Yacht Week Croatia

Sailing in Croatia

Did you know that Yacht Week Croatia is an opportunity to sail the Adriatic sea with your friends and have fun?

Croatian coast consists of almost 700 islands and is one of the most beautiful coasts in Europe. The pleasant Mediterranean climate of the with warm and dry summers and mild winters allows for a longer sailing season.

Moreover, the coast is full of natural bays, dives, caves, beaches, and crystal clear sea. All this makes the Croatian Adriatic coast a perfect place for sailing and sea holidays.

Sailing among the Croatian islands will give you a new place to visit every day. Some days you will spend on a yacht, and some on lonely beaches or in quiet coastal towns. Along with the cultural heritage, the hospitality of the hosts and excellent food, you can make your vacation in Croatia an unforgettable experience.

In this article, we’ll lead you through all the essential information you need to know about the Yacht Week brand. So, come on board!

What Is Yacht Week Croatia?

Yacht Week Croatia is a seven-day motor-assisted sailing experience that takes place once a year at various locations in the Croatian Adriatic. The main organizer is European Travel Ventures. Current main destinations are:

  • Greece (Athens route)
  • the Caribbean (BVI route),
  • Montenegro (Adriatic route), and
  • Croatia (Original route, Ultra festival route, and Dubrovnik route).

It is an authentic marine festival because you get to experience sailing and cruising on the gorgeous waters in one week.

The routes of the Week include Split, Šipan, Mljet, Korčula, Hvar, Vis, and Brač on their maps. The destinations vary every year, but one of the major cities such as the city of Split, Croatia always remains on the Yacht Week route. The route you sail depends on the destination you choose.

The yacht you rented docks in a different destination every day, which allows you to see and experience many things during the week. You can see historical sites, natural beauties, try out delicious food, various activities, and so on. Everyone will find something for themselves.

What to Bring on a Yacht Week

Take your nice clothes.

There will be some hot days on the boat, so flip-flops are a necessity. However, Yacht Week parties sometimes require formal attire. You’ll dock the yacht and go to a private garden party, or visit places like Carpe Diem in Hvar, one of the best clubs in Europe.

What’s more, if you decide to go to a fancy restaurant, sightseeing or visiting museums, make sure to have your nice clothes. They’ll probably kick you out if you show up in shorts and a sleeveless shirt.

Bring Medications

You probably didn’t think about it, but minimal sleep and alcohol don’t do good to your immune system. Neither does sharing water bottles and cutlery (with the people you may not know).

Moreover, seasickness isn’t that uncommon, so prepare your bags. Also, you might decide to cook on board and accidentally cut your finger. Therefore, take your first aid kit, all the vitamins and medications you find useful and make sure you know your first aid drill.

Have a Car-Charger Adapter

Standard yachts often have only 12-volt power outlets. If you’re a group of electronic device maniacs, you’ll need electricity. So, consider buying a solar-powered charger and look for a car-charger adapter that will help you with your laptops, smartphones, or air pumps for your unicorn floaties.

One thing to avoid is a hairdryer. The outlets won’t handle as much electricity. Plus, you’ll probably spend half of the time in the sea, anyway.

How to Book a Yacht Week Croatia

Once you get to know what essentials you should bring, it’s time to book the yacht. The bookings start in October, so you’ll have to hurry to book the next year’s sailing tour. After you decide which route to take, you can click on “Book now” to go with the purchase.

It will give you two options: “Book a full yacht” or “Book a cabin on a yacht.” You can book the latter only for specific routes, whereas you’ll need to book a full boat for your Croatian vacation.

Next, you’ll need to pick a Standard, Premium, or Premium Plus option. The first option is a yacht selected for you that can accommodate up to 9 people. The second and third option offers you to handpick your own boat. There can be 11 people on your Premium or Premium Plus yacht.

The best ones to choose are Premium Plus yachts. You’ll have plenty of space, they have bigger bedroom cabins. Trust us, you’ll need that kind of comfort after two nights of drinking. Also, the rear back area is an excellent spot to sunbathe and to socialize, if you decide to go on a cruise with people other than your friends. It can happen since there has to be a 50-50 gender ratio. Sometimes an exception is possible, but it only benefits the female population.

Pro tip: Let the Yacht Week crew assign you a skipper. You can’t expect your skipper to enjoy vast amounts of alcohol and sail the whole week. European Travel Ventures are real professionals, and they’ll give you the best skippers available.

How Much Will It Cost

The cruise usually starts and ends on Saturdays. The price for a Standard cruise is between 700 and 1,030 Euros per person.

The price for a Premium or a Premium Plus cruise, on the other hand, starts at 872 Euros per person. It climbs up to 1,999 Euros per person. Again, make sure to book in advance due to high demand.

You’ll need about 2,500 Euros for a week. It includes the stay, costs, and basic drinks onboard without going to fancy clubs and restaurants.

There’s a final party for crews of all 50 boats that sail during the Week. It’s a perfect opportunity for another get-together before the last night on board.

Would You Consider Yacht Week as Your Next Vacation Destination?

Finally, The Yacht Week Croatia is perhaps the best way to spend your vacation. Sail the magnificent crystal clear waters of the Adriatic, have fun with friends and enjoy the beauties of the area. Sign up for next year if you like that kind of fun.

If you’re already booked your Yacht Week Croatia and you’re looking to find some peace, make sure to find a perfect stay for you and your friends or family. Book Villa Lava , an ideal luxury villa near the seaside that has everything for you to relax.

Tips for a Successful Yacht Week Croatia Experience

Preparing for The Yacht Week Croatia can greatly enhance your overall experience. Here are some tips to ensure a successful and memorable adventure:

  • Pack wisely: As space on the yacht is limited, pack light and bring essential items such as sunscreen, swimwear, towels, and comfortable clothing suitable for both daytime activities and evening events. Don’t forget any necessary travel documents, medications, and personal toiletries.
  • Stay hydrated: The sun and sea breeze can be dehydrating, so make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the journey. Consider bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated while minimizing plastic waste.
  • Embrace spontaneity: While it’s great to have a general plan, be open to unexpected adventures and spontaneous detours. The Yacht Week Croatia is all about embracing the unexpected and making the most of every moment.
  • Respect the environment: Practice sustainable tourism and respect the natural beauty of the Adriatic coast. Dispose of waste properly, minimize plastic consumption, and be mindful of marine life and protected areas.
  • Party responsibly: The Yacht Week Croatia offers incredible nightlife, but remember to party responsibly. Pace yourself, stay hydrated, and be mindful of your alcohol consumption. Respect other yacht weekers, the local communities, and adhere to the guidelines provided by the organizers.
  • Connect with your crewmates: The Yacht Week Croatia is an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals from around the world. Take the time to get to know your crewmates, share experiences, and build lifelong friendships. Embrace the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.
  • Prepare for the elements: The Adriatic coast can experience various weather conditions, so pack accordingly. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and lightweight clothing for sun protection, as well as a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.
  • Stay active and explore: Take advantage of the activities and excursions available during The Yacht Week Croatia. Dive into the crystal-clear waters, try water sports, explore the islands, and immerse yourself in the local culture. Make the most of each destination and create memories that go beyond the party scene.
  • Be flexible: While it’s great to have an itinerary, be prepared for changes. Weather conditions and the discretion of the skipper may alter the planned route. Embrace flexibility and go with the flow, as these changes can often lead to unexpected discoveries and memorable experiences.
  • Capture the memories: Bring a camera or smartphone to capture the beautiful moments and stunning landscapes along the way. Take photos and videos to document your Yacht Week Croatia experience, but also remember to put the camera down and immerse yourself fully in the adventure.

Sailing in Hvar island: 1 week sailing trip

Hvar island sailing trip

Day 1. Hvar – Vinogradišće-bay

5.58 km (3.47 mi)

The Bay of Vinogradišće is the largest and most famous island in the Pakleni Archipelago. It is on the southern side of Sveti Klement. It is opposite the ACI Marina Palmižana on the Hvar side. If the northern wind, the Bora blows, it is safe to drop anchor here. There is a great restaurant nearby like Zori or Toto’s, famous for the seafood dishes. There is a short promenade, embraced by plants from all over the world.

Day 2. Vinogradišće-bay – Brusje (Hafen Stiniva)

20, 11 km (12, 50 mi)

Brusje, along with the neighbouring Velo and Malo Grablje, has been a suburb of Hvar for centuries. It is famous for its church dedicated to St. George, built-in 1676. The little village on the hill offers magnificent views over the nearby island of Brač.

Day 3. Brusje (Hafen Stiniva) – Stari Grad

10, 14 km (6, 30 mi)

Sailing around Hvar island

Day 4. Stari Grad – Vrboska (ACI Marina)

26.97 km (16.76 mi)

Vrboska is located in a hidden bay, which has its two sides connected by bridges. As a result, it got the name “Little Venice”. The town’s architecture sights include the Fortress-Church of Saint Mary from 1575 and the Church of Saint Lawrence. You can find the restaurant Trica Gardelin, offering traditional Dalmatian cuisine, at the centre of the establishment. Their menu includes fresh fish, frutti di mare, meat dishes and pizzas.

Day 5. Vrboska (ACI Marina) – Jelsa

2, 97 km (1, 84 mi)

Jelsa is located in the middle of Hvar, and it is bordered by forests as well as the two highest mountains of the island. One of Dalmatia’s largest and most beautiful parks is located here: Perivoj was established in 1870. You can also find several Mediterranean and tropical plants in the area. The town has been well-known for its excellent red wines.

Day 6. Jelsa – Bol

11, 75 km (7, 30 mi)

Coasts and islands in Hvar island

Day 7. Bol – St. Klement-island (ACI Marina Palmižana) – Hvar

34, 57 km (21, 48 mi)

The main attraction of Sveti Klement is the chapel of the same name. It was built-in 1866, commemorating the Battle of Vis. The pine, cactus, rosemary and laurel forests enhance the beauty of the island.

After returning our ship and we still have some time, we should take a look around Hvar. On the main square, you will see buildings such as the Cathedral of St. Stephen, the Loggia, a semi-open arcade hall and the clock tower. If you are craving a delicious meal, choose the Dalmatino restaurant. They offer excellent dishes and drinks, a friendly atmosphere and attentive service. Read more about what to do in Hvar

Heading south from the town of Hvar, we recommend a longer route. During our boat trip, we will visit Vis, one of the greenest islands on the Adriatic Sea.

Hvar island sailing itinerary

Heading from Stari Grad, we present a two-week-long route consisting mainly of shorter trips. We are going to sail to a small fishing village, Zavala, which is an exceptional wine-producing region of Croatia. If you visit the place, you should definitely try the local specialty, a white wine called Bogdanjuša.

Guide to Hvar

A perfect fusion of glitz, glamour and Adriatic charm

Another gem in Croatia’s sparkling crown, Hvar has emerged as a Mediterranean hotspot where people travel to just be near the SuperyachtSet.

Sitting pretty among the southern Dalmatian Islands, Hvar has a charming ambience, which welcomes the discerning traveller with open arms. The capital, Hvar Town, is one of the Adriatic’s best preserved towns and manages to perfectly balance modern glamour with its ornamental style of architecture seen among stunning Gothic palaces and traffic-free marble streets. It makes the perfect addition to any East Mediterranean yacht charter .

Hvar is known as Croatia’s premier party town and for good reason although, thanks to its well-heeled visitors, this hasn’t compromised its air of unwavering elegance. A perfect day in Hvar can start with a coffee in the harbour while watching the town come to life, followed by a wander around the food market and delicatessens. If you’re feeling brave you can hire a scooter and whizz around the winding streets, and up to Hvar’s hilly interior, past olive groves, lavender fields and ancient stone walls.

An evening can then be spent either enjoying an dinner alfresco on your luxury charter yacht or at one of the many great restaurants on offer. But this time of day is when Hvar really comes into its own. Whether you’re relaxing with sundowners at the Hula Hula Bar, rubbing shoulders with celebrities on the rooftop of the Adriana Hotel or dancing under the trees at Copacobana Beach, you can party the night away in ultimate style.

After a night of revelry, it’s well-worth visiting one of Hvar’s quieter, beautifully unhurried villages such as the well-known Stari Grad, as well as Jelsa and Vrboska. For some beach relaxation with incredible scenery you can’t beat the nearby Pakleni Islands. Here you’ll find a myriad of deserted beaches and lagoons lapped by crystal-clear waters and a few selected naturist beaches for anyone that likes to really be at one with nature.

If you are feeling inspired to begin planning your luxury yacht charter which includes this magical island, you can take a look at all luxury yachts for charter in Croatia .

Michael from south africa and im thinking of go to this yacht week and i would like to ask you the condition, you book a room in the yacht?or you have to share room with other guys?should i book a catamaran or not,are the yachts mixed girls and boys or just guys?how can i choose a yacht with girls too...they ask for a deposit of 1800 euros, its for each person or a group?and what about the beach parties?you can leave the yacht in the night and go to the clubs? One last question,im going alone and im black, there is any isues?

Thank you in advance:P

' class=

You'll need to organise a bunch of friends to do it with and then book a yacht between the group.

If you don't have a group, maybe look online on travel websites to see if there are any yachts that need an extra person.

The 1800 euro deposit will be for one yacht.

TYW organises special parties for all the yacht week attendees and you'll need to buy a pass to access these parties.

My brother did TYW last year and had an amazing time. This is his review:

http://www.rolllikeboss.com/2013/03/the-yacht-week.html

Michael, look at Sailing.hr.. With them you can rent a yacht, a cabin or a spot. Their prices are very cheap, and the parties are crazy. They have mixed yachts with the girls and the boys (and very attractive hostesses also) :) Check this: http://www.sailing.hr/our-trips/party-yachting/

the yacht week hvar

How is the sleeping accommodation on the Yacht? I have heard mixed opinions about it.

Its hard to get a lot of sleep to be honest as the yachts can get hot when the sun comes up... It also depends on how spacious your yacht is - they vary in size!

Hvar Luxury Yacht Charter Guide will reveal the popular, as well as the most hidden gems of this remarkable island in Croatia

The island of Hvar is a prestigious nautical cocktail mixed with most desirable ingredients. At the same time, this island is one of the many fascinating Top charter destinations in Croatia. Glamorous luxury yachts and small boats sail along its shores, because everyone discovering the joys of the Adriatic is delighted to get to know it.

How to get to hvar?

Unforgettable hvar experience: things to do, harbors and marinas on hvar island: hvar sailing trips.

  • When is the best time to visit hvar?

monastery town hvar yacht charter

The west coast of this 35 miles long island in Split archipelago – the longest island in the Adriatic – brims with coves, bays and inlets, and is dotted with popular anchorages and charming towns. The picturesque town of Hvar and the Pakleni Islands as one of the most desirable nautical oases of the Adriatic are main culprits for the popularity of this island.

The eastern shores of Croatian island Hvar are straighter, with fewer natural coves, and are outside main yachting routes, but often visited by cruising yachts looking for the Mediterranean as it once was. Ferry boats are often the most elegant solution for tourists wondering how to get to Hvar.

In the town of Hvar , many boaters eager for fun and glamour spend more than a few days, which speaks volumes about the magnetic beauty of this Adriatic pearl. This little big town that never sleeps lures with its multitude of exclusive nightclubs, and with its many glamorous Hvar restaurants is also foodie heaven.

The fortress of Španjola proudly towers over Hvar , offering fabulous views of the town, the picturesque port and the stunning Pakleni islands.

There are only fifteen buoys and fifteen berths in the city port, but the latter are usually booked months in advance by elegant mega-yachts sailing the Adriatic.

town hvar

The town port does not offer a safe haven from southerly winds, and it is also extremely busy during the day, mostly for the presence of numerous speedboats, impressive Hvar barcarioles (taxi boats) and regular ferry lines.

Besides, many local agencies organize Hvar sailing trips to the neighboring island of Vis , whose seaside you can get to know through our Vis Luxury Yacht Charter Guide.

Visit Pakleni islands by boat

Although a few miles away from the island, the Pakleni islands seem to be connected to the town of Hvar by the umbilical cord. This hellishly – as the name suggests – beautiful archipelago made up of 21 smaller and larger islands offers an island for any and all tastes.

Luxury restaurant on Hvar

On the largest island of Sveti Klement, ACI marina Palmižana offers safe shelter in all winds. On the south side of this island there are many azure bays, with Vinogradišće being by far the most visited. It is dotted with about forty buoys, and boasts one – very popular – lounge bar, Laganini , and a colorful restaurants to visit by boat .

The ones owned by the locally famous Meneghello family are inextricably linked to nautical tourism in the Adriatic. Buoys owned by these highly recommendable restaurants can also be found in the spacious bay of Soline and in the bay of Vlaka on the opposite, northern coast of Klement.

Larger yachts usually drop anchors on the west side of this wild island, in the Ždrilac pass, or on the east side of Marinkovac, towards the islet of Jerolim.

All yachts can, depending on the wind, count on a shelter on the leeward side of the island, and only have to choose one of the many bays – in their favorite shade of blue – that pleases them the most to drop their anchor.

Explore Hvar’s beaches and coves

The Pelegrin Peninsula is a nature reserve adjacent to the very town of Hvar, and everyone sailing from Split to Hvar makes sure to at least drop by. In this protected area and hunting ground, deer and mouflon can occasionally be seen from the deck.

The peninsula itself boasts several charming natural and man-made anchorages – Mala Garška, Vela Garška, Parija, Duga and Vira.

stari grad hvar yacht charter

Starogradski bay lies tucked deep into the mainland of Hvar, and offers several smaller bays on the inside. By far the most visited is Tiha, on the northern part of Starogradski bay. This uninhabited bay offers many tiny canals ideal for berthing on some of the 45 buoys,, with those leeward offering shelter in all winds.

Although the bay is called Tiha, Silent, in the peaks season it is anything but: be warned of the rowdy and loud local event Yacht Week. In the bay, family-owned Hvar restaurant Veli Dolac is famous for their excellent roasted meat and fish. The neighboring Zavala bay is the locals’ favorite spot for a day at the beach, and has ten buoys for boats up to 15 meters.

Hvar vs stari grad.

Many visitors are surprised to learn that Stari Grad was the first Greek colony on Hvar and that this city was once the central place of the island. The unique charm of the town is best discovered walking through its winding streets that shy away from the coast. There are many ideas on what to do in the Stari Grad on the island Hvar, but be sure to visit the Petar Hektorović fortress as the most beautiful part of the town.

Since the construction of the new modern waterfront, Stari Grad has become a prestigious yachting destination and thus a key part of this Hvar Luxury Yacht Charter Guide. In addition to 70 berths, the port has 20 buoys, but waves get pretty high with westerly winds. Stari Grad is not protected from any wind, but fortunately for boaters, all but the westerlies here just tussle your hair.

kabal peninsula

Aerial photographs of the Kabal peninsula justifiably charm visitors from endless travel agency windows and promotional posters. Resembling stretched fingers, this peninsula is the natural continuation of the UNESCO-protected Starogradsko polje location.

Nestled on the northern side of Kabal, Žukova bay offers respite from all winds expect for bora, when it wouldn’t be advisable to anchor in its central branch. There you’ll find just several vacation homes, a small beach and stone slabs made by Mother Nature especially for sun worshipers.

There are many attractive nautical destinations on the island of Hvar, but the most beautiful experience around still is sailing through the narrow, winding fjord at the end of which awaits Vrboska – the smallest town on the island. Dense pine trees whose branches descend towards the water unbothered by wind confirm this is the best sheltered bay on the island of Hvar.

The wind around is the strong south wind and the levant, which might – albeit extremely rarely – create tidal waves.

vrboska

The tiny village of Vrboska offers but two possibilities for mooring: at the very entrance, in the ACI marina Vrboska (85 berths), or a little deeper into the bay, at the village waterfront. The spacious bay of Soline, as an azure stepping stone to Vrboska, is a favorite anchorage of smaller and larger yachts.

Visit Jelsa and Hvar town

Jelsa has always been a popular destination for yachtsmen who want to feel the local pules, and in recent years this lively little town has become a favorite of the mega-yacht crowd, after the construction of their brand new waterfront. Completely unprotected from bora, Jelsa offers safe berths for 54 vessels.

Jelsa is also home to several decadent Hvar restaurants and the nearby Tomić winery, very popular among all visitors. Our recommendation: a Mojito in the newly opened cocktail bar.

jelsa hvar yacht charter

Sail the northern shores of the island of Hvar and discover the peaceful local vibe of this Hvar Luxury Yacht Charter Guide. All the while, keep in mind that Pokrivenik bay is the only safe anchorage on the stretch from Jelsa to Sućuraj. This larger bay actually consists of five canals, and by far the most beautiful of them is the one in the middle.

This deeply set canal surrounded by impressive steep cliffs and hiding a beautiful pebble beach with in its center has more to offer than just safety from winds, with views of vineyards and olive groves.

You can anchor in this central canal at depths ranging from 6 to 12 meters, or move into the eastern canal if bora is afoot. There you will find a small pier with one hotel, Timun, whose restaurant serves typical local Mediterranean cuisine.

Boaters are always happy to visit the nearby Pakomina bay for its many excellent family-owned restaurant and free mooring spots on the small waterfront, which, however does not offer good shelter from the ever-present bora.

island of hvar cove pokrivenik

Sućuraj is a small fishing village rarely noticed by yachtsmen while enjoying the Hvar sailing tour. With jugo or levant it will not provide a good shelter, and with south-westerly wind creating small, but unpleasant waves.

Several vessels can be moored laterally inside of the breakwater, and about twenty vessels can expect to find berths in the northern part of the port, on pontoons along the waterfront.

This village is nice enough for a walk, a visit to one of the local Hvar restaurants, a peek into a church or two, or a visit to the three-meter tall statue of St. Nicholas on the pier – to ask for calms seas, of course.

Charter Scorpios today and embark on an unforgettable sailing adventure

Luxury sailing yacht Scorpios external photo

Luxury sailing yacht SCORPIOS was built in 2003 by yacht builder Radez, offering 6 cabins, from which 4 convertible, for up to 12 guests, catered by 11 crew members. This luxury cruising yacht is a true gem, considering her luxury design and exceptional service, offering her guests an unforgettable charter experience. SCORPIOS boasts plenty of unique areas, all designed with ultimate luxury and guest comfort in mind.

From Sućuraj westward, small bays and beautiful Hvar beaches dot the coast like pearls, but consider them all suitable for anchoring only in calm weather. In Mrtinovik and Veprinova bays, many restaurants offer the possibility of mooring by their buoys, as well as excellent food on their picturesque patios. Leave the Šćedro Nature Reserve at the stern and sail at the foot of the highest slopes of the island of Hvar.

beaches in hvar mala stiniva motor yacht charter

Many excellent wines come to life on these slopes, the most famous among them made by one Zlatan Plenković, owner of the small harbor in Sveta Nedjelja and the restaurant Bilo idro, which has a unique wine cellar under the sea. The nearby bays of Zarače and Borče, right next to Milna, attract the eye with their steep cliffs , beautiful pebble beaches, green vegetation and Caribbean shades of water.

In those bays, restaurants offer always fresh, always good food, and more often than not, the possibility of mooring on buoys. However, keep in mind that these bays should also be avoided with southerly winds.

Concert promoter Live Nation is getting into the ultra-luxury cruise business — see what it'll be like on weeklong superyacht sailings starting at $3,000 a person

  • Live Nation's Vibee is getting into the ultra-luxury cruise business.
  • The music event curator says it'll charter two superyachts for three weeklong Croatia cruises this summer.
  • Like other vacation operators, Vibee says it's seen increasing demand for cruise and yacht-based trips.

Insider Today

Forget concerts — Live Nation wants music fans to start going on yacht vacations .

In 2023 and amid a boom in experiential travel , the entertainment company established Vibee, a music-based event curation arm. Less than a year later, Vibee has already executed affairs like a weekend Bahamas getaway headlined by singer Lionel Richie and a three-day Cabo San Lucas, Mexico party featuring DJ Tiësto.

Now, it's moving off-land and to the high seas with its new segment: Vibee Yacht Club.

This summer, Vibee says it'll charter two superyachts for three weeklong Croatia itineraries that are set to be, of course, centered on music.

Vibee is capitalizing on yet another increasingly popular concept: themed cruises.

the yacht week hvar

Themed cruises can vary vastly, from Star Trek-centered sailings to itineraries helmed by famous comedians. And as of late, many of these niche voyages have been selling out faster than ever before.

Themed cruise operator Sixthman's November 2023 hip-hop itinerary sold out in less than five days with no publicly announced lineup.

Similarly, Vibee's first cruise, the 2023 EDSea — a wordplay on the electronic dance music festival Electric Daisy Carnival, or EDC — was fully booked in three days, again with an undisclosed lineup.

Armed with EDSea’s success, Vibee wants to dive deeper into the cruise segment — this time with a luxurious spin.

the yacht week hvar

"We see the desire for cruise and yacht experiences continuing to rise," Harvey Cohen, president of Vibee, told Business Insider, echoing sentiments of the cruise industry's booming demand.

And not just the mass-market players: Over the last year, luxury cruise lines have also seen a rise in interest.

In its fourth-quarter earnings report from February 2024, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said its two high-end brands, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas, had both seen "strong demand."

The latter had launched its latest $517.9 million luxury ship a few months prior, complete with caviar and a $6 million art collection.

Luxury cruises and superyachts aren’t known to be super-affordable.

the yacht week hvar

Vibee says it's chartering the 141-foot-long Lupus Mare and nearly 161-foot-long Prestige for its three yacht sailings.

Vibee Yacht Club's cheapest option starts at $3,100 per person for a two-person cabin. Comparatively, EDSea's 2024 itinerary starts at $1,405 per person for a double occupancy interior cabin.

Yet, it could be a bargain for some superyacht fans: Weeklong charters for Lupus Mare start at about $71,000 a week, according to YachtCharterFleet.

Everything is better on a yacht. Champagne? Tastes better on a yacht. Cruises in general? Better on a yacht.

the yacht week hvar

Going to an international music festival? Well, Vibee thinks it would be better to stay on a yacht than in a hotel.

On July 13, the first itinerary would start on day two of Ultra Europe, a popular three-day electronic dance music festival in Split, Croatia.

the yacht week hvar

Following the event, the two yachts would sail to three Croatian islands before concluding in Hvar, Croatia. Along the way, the itinerary would include daytime swims, a sunset winery visit, and several parties (day and night).

Unsurprisingly, Vibee expects the itinerary to draw in younger travelers, specifically Gen Zers and millennials.

Lupus Mare is set to be chartered for two more itineraries: “Rock the Med” and “Marafiki on the Adriatic.”

the yacht week hvar

A three-person cabin for both starts at $3,500 per person.

On Rock the Med, the week is set to begin with VIP tickets to a Lenny Kravitz show at the historic Pula Arena.

Afterward, it would sail to Croatian destinations with an itinerary that would include beach excursions and clubs.

Marafiki on the Adriatic isn’t centered on a single music event.

the yacht week hvar

Instead, the roundtrip Split itinerary would feature on-board musical performances, daily yoga, "cultural outings," and, of course, beach clubs.

A bonus trip to Sonus Festival, a five-day rave, is an optional add-on.

Like a typical luxury cruise, travelers would have preorganized water taxis, chefs to prepare daily breakfasts and lunches, and all the yacht amenities.

the yacht week hvar

The 20-cabin, 40-guest Prestige flexes indulgences like an indoor lounge, a hot tub, and a sundeck with plenty of beds.

Meanwhile, the 15-cabin, 34-guest Lupus Mare has comforts like a sauna and gym.

the yacht week hvar

Travelers could wind down in the yacht's movie theater or hot tub. Or, they could take a slide into the water.

It’s no surprise Vibee is going the more sumptuous route with its itinerary-focused yacht concept.

the yacht week hvar

" Revenge travel " might as well be known as "regular travel" at this point: People have continued to spend big on extravagant vacations, especially on luxury small cruise ships and trips planned around experiences and adventures.

Both are niches Vibee is trying to carve out for itself: Looking ahead, the new brand is already planning more music and sea-based vacations, Cohen told Business Insider.

Russia Maps Show 25% of Moscow Without Power Amid Winter Freeze 'Emergency'

R ussian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the nationalization of an ammunition plant in Moscow after a mechanical failure caused tens of thousands of Muscovites to lose heat and water amid freezing temperatures beginning last week.

On January 4, a heating main burst at the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant in the town of Podolsk, which is around 30 miles south of central Moscow. Since then, tens of thousands of Russians are reported to have no heating in their homes in the Moscow region amid subzero temperatures.

Affected areas include the cities of Khimki, Balashikha, Lobnya, Lyubertsy, Podolsk, Chekhov, Naro-Fominsk, and Podolsk, a map published by a Russian Telegram channel and shared on other social media sites shows.

Other Russian media outlets reported that in Moscow, residents of Balashikha, Elektrostal, Solnechnogorsk, Dmitrov, Domodedovo, Troitsk, Taldom, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Krasnogorsk, Pushkino, Ramenskoye, Voskresensk, Losino-Petrovsky, and Selyatino are also without power.

That means that in total, more than a quarter of Moscow's cities have been hit with power outages and a lack of heating.

Newsweek has contacted Russia's Foreign Ministry for comment via email.

Many residents have taken to publishing video appeals on social media to complain about their freezing conditions. In one clip, people living in Moscow say that they are left with no choice but to warm their homes with gas stoves, heaters, and "whatever else we can find." Others said they are lighting fires in the streets to keep warm.

Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, announced on Tuesday that Putin ordered the ammunition plant to be nationalized because two of its owners have been "located abroad." He didn't name the individuals.

"We received the right to take control of this boiler house within the framework of an emergency," Vorobiev said, adding that the plant's boiler room was managed "very poorly" and there was "virtually no qualified competent personnel."

Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant not meeting safety requirements.

On Tuesday, the committee said that because of the incident, the deputy head of Podolsk's administration, the head of the plant's boiler house, and the general director of the ammunition plant had been detained.

Residents of Selyatino have described the situation as "some kind of struggle for survival," Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reported.

Power outages have also struck St. Petersburg, Rostov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Primorsky Territory, and Yekaterinburg.

About Dinamo Elektrostal

Moscow’s Dinamo Elektrostal are gearing up for their fifth EHL season having frequently picked off impressive wins but have yet to top their particular group in their previous attempts.

They did get the best of arch rivals Dinamo Ak-Bars in both the Russian Cup and the Prometheus International tournament to show they are knocking on the door.

There has been a reasonable level of turnover from 2020 with Anton Noshin, Evgenii Mokrousov, Aleksei Godenkov and Ivan Zuikov joining the newly formed TsOP Moskomsport outfit. Danill Karagodin, Mikhail Nekludov and Ilya Larikov have all retired.

Their replacements are mostly youngsters with Dmitry Zheleznyakov, Aleksei Samylkin, Petr Agapov, Ilia Bartenev, Andrei Gribanov and Oleg Kulakov joining their line-up.
