I'm not a member but frequent with friends. I like the tennis courts and teams I play against. I've enjoyed fun wine tastings. Recently I came for the outdoor concert night. Always a good time with friends, attentive staff, happy bar tenders, and beautiful surroundings.

Had a wonderful dinner with family! Wait staff and manager was outstanding! Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service!
Great boating facility! We went out on Memorial day weekend with friends. Headed out to the Ft. George sandbar. Easy boat access in and out of the marina. Full service at the marina. Filled up on gas before we left. Huge facility. Plenty of space on a major boating weekend. 4 stars only for the fact that access in and out of the marina proper is a little tricky.
Pulling out for the day
Beautiful club. Great location on the St Johns River. Great sailing facility that was recently built with great dockage. And recently they really have gotten behind High School Sailing as well which I hope brings more sailing to the Club and the Jacksonville Area as a whole. The chef does a great job as well. What well prepared food and the cost for lunch was pretty darn reasonable. The Club is very well run and I hope they keep going with their sailing passion. Jacksonville is a nice place to sail and between this club and the new quality sailing program at Jacksonville University as well the area is ripe for a nice growth of the sport.
In 2015, the Club has many new projects on the books, they have removed an old house on the property and replaced it with tennis courts and solutions for Jr. Tennis programs. The fitness center and daycare plan to be expanded as well as the pool area and the amenities it offers guests during the summer months. The old tennis courts along the river are to be replaced with a green lawn which will provide options such as croquet, bocce ball, as well as a place for weddings and special events. This in addition to a change for both inside and outside dining, have helped the club expand its membership and be poised for growth for years to come. Having eaten there yesterday, the new female manager understands what people want in their dining choices. You can order off the menu, so long as the base item is on the menu, at that time. For Sunday we had a burger, with blue cheese sprinkled on top on a bed of lettuce with blue cheese dressing. We also shared the FYC Club sandwhich a traditional club sandwich. On other occasions you can eat at the bar in the private dining area as well as outside or by the pool. Many options and choices, and just in time as the weather improves.
What a gorgeous place to hold an event! As a sponsor, I was able to attend the Equality Florida Jacksonville Gala, and I was so impressed by the venue. A beautiful, old Florida feel, with obvious updates and amazing upkeep, this location was ideal, and I loved the balcony overlooking the river, as we watched the moon rise. Although I'm not a member, I definitely vouch for the beautiful location, and although we didn't get to poke around outside, the inside is absolutely stunning! Love it.
They we're great but then they took away the plate of chicken tenders that I was eating. Heated. The disrespect. Overall a cool place tho
I went to a wedding at this venue. We used the upper floors and the outside balcony for the wedding and reception. The venue is very old, but updated. The building has been around since the late 1800s, but other than the design, you cannot tell by the amenities. There is a beautiful view of the bay overlooking the city skyline. It was beautiful for the wedding. The ballroom was in an older style but still lovely. The men's bathroom on the second floor is a deathtrap. I believe you have to have a sponsor let you win to have an event there, but if you can it would be worth it.
I've raced out of FYC several times and always had fun. The staff are accommodating to out of town sailors, which is more than I can say for other certain stick up their butt yacht clubs that don't know how to host a regatta or welcome racers. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is available to set up your boat to race. Fairly decent ramp and easy to use hoist to put your boat in are right on the waterfront. Bar is well stocked. Dinners won't knock your sock off, but are worth of any other decent restaurant. Try the Derby Salad, it is different.
One of the oldest yacht clubs in the nation. Incredible hospitality (while seated poolside guests can have their sunglasses cleaned by a service the yacht club provides). The florida yacht club Hosted the southeast USODA regatta 2016. Very welcoming environment. The facility was all inclusive to the event (families, parents, sailors). Make your own lunch station. welcome buffet on Friday After check in for sailors and family. Italian buffet on Saturday for sailors and family as well. Vast spread of quality ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pool open for the kids. Parents Lounge area. Indoor bathrooms equipped with soap, hand lotion & mouthwash, kept very clean & stocked with quality bathroom tissue. Showers available for sailors also equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner etc. - bring your own towels. Designated trailer parking. Special bathrooms brought into sailing/boat lunch area to accommodate 150+ boats. There were plenty of water/ice filled coolers available throughout the boat launch area. There were 162 RWB and 10 green fleet optimist. Very well organized which makes the entire experience effort free and efficient. The entire yacht club staff as well as ALL the yacht club members encountered were helpful, friendly, pleasant and welcoming. This yacht club is unmatched by any other facility that has hosted a youth regatta. All yacht clubs should strive to be so inviting when they host a youth event.

Florida Yacht Club Jacksonville , Florida 1929-1930
History of The Florida Yacht Club, Jacksonville Florida
The Florida Yacht Club was established by seventeen charter members in 1877. New York businessman William Backhouse Astor, Jr.,was the driving force behind the creation of a club promoting boating and water sports in Jacksonville. Astor felt that the broad and slow St. Johns River was a perfect location for boating, though he was the only person in Jacksonville to actually own a yacht at the time. The original clubhouse was constructed at the end of Market Street in downtown Jacksonville, and cost $3,500, to which Astor contributed $500. The original Florida Yacht Club building was a large two-story edifice, with the second floor being used for gatherings and dances. Astor served as the club's first "Commodore".
The original building burned down in the Great Fire of 1901. The club moved to a temporary clubhouse in the Riverside neighborhood, before relocating to a new dedicated facility on Willow Branch Creek in 1907. In 1928 the Florida Yacht Club moved to its present building in Jacksonville's Ortega neighborhood. The current clubhouse was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style and cost $90,000.

Top Yacht Clubs – Florida
Tucked along Florida’s 1,350 miles of coastline are private seaside clubs where mariners like to dock their boats and hang their hats. Many sport a friendly neighborhood feel; others rival first-class resorts by giving members a taste of the good life on the high seas. Deluxe amenities seem unlimited with annual regattas for racing fans, fishing charters for anglers and social events, where all the stars come out shining.
To get a glimpse of how the big dogs in the yacht world roll, we welcome you to check out Marinalife’s roster of ritzy yacht clubs serving the Sunshine State.
FLORIDA YACHT CLUB
Jacksonville, fl.
Established in 1876 to foster “yachting and social enjoyment” along the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, this club grew into a favorite getaway for 19th century business tycoons and their entourage. Today it’s known as one of the most prestigious private clubs and the sailing capital of northeast Florida. Amenities include two marinas with 150 slips, 10 tennis courts, a lovely clubhouse with banquet rooms, a swimming pool, a fitness center with personal trainers and a spa. The Youth Sailing Program, several annual regattas and plenty of social events keep members engaged and happy year-round.
HARBOUR RIDGE YACHT CLUB
Palm city, fl.
The soaring eagle emblem on Harbour Ridge’s logo is a pleasant statement that this yacht club cares about protecting the natural environment around its facility on the St. Lucie River north of West Palm Beach. Its two championship golf courses are Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries, but conservation does not distract from luxurious amenities. Members can choose between upscale or casual dining in the 45,000 square-foot clubhouse while soaking up stunning lakeside views. Also set in this idyllic rural setting: tennis courts, a swimming pool, a fitness center and spa, a library, a puppy park and banquet halls for special events.
PALM BEACH YACHT CLUB
West palm beach, fl.
Founded in 1890, this boaters’ sanctuary is considered a jewel of the Atlantic seaboard that attracts racers and society’s A-list from around the world. With five-star cuisine and gracious décor, the dining room is an epicurean delight. The club is renowned for events such as trips to the Kentucky Derby, Napa Valley and Havana, as well as art tours, river cruises, Miami Dolphin football games and tennis tournaments.
ROYAL PALM YACHT & COUNTRY CLUB
Boca raton, fl.
Alcoa industrialist Arthur Vining Davis founded the Royal Palm in 1959 on 450 acres of land that was once Boca Raton’s polo grounds. The property’s centerpiece is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, which hosts several tournaments on its scenic greens. The marina’s floating dock yachting facility can accommodate vessels up to 130 feet. Three restaurants offer options ranging from relaxed snacks to elegant gourmet cuisine. Six tennis courts, a swimming pool, a spa and a fitness center top off the amenity list.
CORAL RIDGE YACHT CLUB
Fort lauderdale, fl.
Conveniently located near three major airports, Coral Ridge has been an upscale haven for affluent and celebrity guests, including The Beatles in 1964. Founded in 1947, the gorgeous clubhouse overlooks stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway, Sunrise Bay and historic Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Amenities include family and social activities, a fitness center, golf, a swimming pool, tennis, sports camps and sailing programs for children. It’s within easy walking distance from white-sand beaches, restaurants, nightlife, and movie theaters.
CORAL REEF YACHT CLUB
Some of the country’s best yacht racing competitions take place at Coral Reef — 2008 Star Worlds, Bacardi Miami Race Week, Rolex Miami Olympic Classes Regatta and more. And some of its members bring home Olympic gold medals in boating events. When you visit this bustling club, it’s the 100-slip marina that catches your eye and the 6,000 square foot clubhouse that makes you want to linger in the lounge and hear about the history and camaraderie in the waters of Biscayne Bay. Social activities for adults and kids build a strong sense of community.
OCEAN REEF CLUB
Key largo, fl.
You can arrive by land, sea or air to this 2,500-acre private paradise tucked away in the northern tip of Florida’s Keys. Known for championship golfing and world-class fishing, the facility includes 12 tennis courts, basketball, a spa and a fitness center. A dozen restaurants and lounges present a range of options from gourmet to casual dining and poolside cocktails. In addition to the nine-hole mini-golf course, Buccaneer Island’s saltwater lagoon is family-fun central with water sports such as sailboats, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Snorkeling and scuba excursions depart daily.
USEPPA ISLAND CLUB
Bokeelia, fl.
Private security and sophisticated solitude are the buzzwords for this private club located on a 100-acre island on Pine Island Sound. Since the 1800s, industrialists, socialites and fishing fans have been pampered at this luxurious West Florida retreat. The U.S. government took over the island during the Bay of Pigs invasion, but the club reopened in 1976 and was restored to its original grandeur. Today’s guests enjoy amenities such as fine dining, tennis, a swimming pool, croquet and bocce. Social events and regattas in peak season are legendary.
PELICAN ISLE YACHT CLUB
After a recent $4.8 million renovation, Pelican Isle is looking pretty swanky. The new 20,000 square-foot club-house is complete with a new kitchen, banquet rooms, fitness center, stellar waterfront views, two bocce courts and firepits. Only five minutes from the Gulf of Mexico at Wiggins Pass on the Cocohatchee River, the nearby beach is rated as top-notch with a coral reef for scuba divers. Amenities include upscale dining, a swimming pool, tennis, pickleball, water aerobics, a ship store and yachting excursions.
ST. PETERSBURG YACHT CLUB
St. petersburg, fl.
Established in 1909 and fully renovated in the 1990s, this prestigious club is dedicated to preserving traditions in sailing and yachting. The list of members’ championship racing awards and Olympic medals is extensive. As one of America’s oldest yacht clubs, the facility overlooking Tampa Bay presents two elegant dining rooms, cocktail lounge, poolside tiki hut and many spacious banquet rooms. Special events include the historic Habana Race (first sailed in 1930), Vintage Motor Classic and several fishing tournaments.

Here are the most expensive homes sold in Duval County for early 2024
Classic lines and traditional styles were the stars of the show when it came to Duval County's top home sales in January.
With few exceptions, the spacious homes incorporated plenty of cedar shake and Florida vernacular architecture, with a sprinkling of French Provincial and Mediterranean-inspired looks as well. Our Favorite Florida Resorts For Kids
L ike a lot of New Englanders, we love vacationing in Florida. It’s easy to get to, with lots of direct flights to many different cities. As a peninsula, it has plenty of shoreland with many beautiful sandy beaches.
The Sunshine State features many great attractions for kids, even if you don’t want to visit a theme park. It’s a big state, with lots of different activities.
Surrounding these world-class attractions are gorgeous Florida resorts, filled with wonderful amenities for families. Here are our favorite Florida resorts for kids. Did we include your favorite here? If not, leave us a comment and we may update this post.
Disclosure: We experienced some of these family resorts in Florida (all except for the Ritz Carlton, the Hilton Bonnet Creek, the Hilton Clearwater Beach, and the Marco Beach Ocean Resort), at no cost on various press trips throughout the years. All opinions are my own.

The Best Florida Resorts for Kids
Omni amelia island .
As soon as I arrived at the Omni Amelia Island from the Jacksonville Airport, I knew that it was going to be a wonderful experience. The resort is located about 35 minutes from the Jacksonville airport and offers 3.5 miles of beach on 1,350 acres.
In addition to the private beach, you’ll find offers the largest poolscape in northern Florida (an adult-only infinity swimming pool, a 10,000-square-foot family pool with sprinkler jets, two hot tubs, and a small splash area). The resort also has a nature center, a mini-golf course, and a teen lounge. It’s a huge resort, so you could definitely spend lots of time there – you wouldn’t even need to leave the resort.
The 400 hotel rooms offer a variety of in-room amenities including complimentary WiFi, a coffee maker, a workspace, and a refrigerator. Some of them have balconies with beautiful beach views.
Book it here .
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
Our favorite Walt Disney World resort is Disney’s Beach Club Resort, which is located in the Epcot resort area . It’s our favorite, not only for the location (walking distance to the Boardwalk, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios) but for the fun, relaxed vibe.
While we usually spend our Disney days at the theme parks, the Beach Club (along with its sister resort, the Yacht Club ), offers a great pool area called Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay offers a sandy-bottom pool, a water slide, a lazy river, and much more.
My kids could easily spend a day just hanging out there! We typically eat our dinners in Epcot, so it’s nice to be just a quick walk away from our resort after dinner.
If you are looking for a resort that has a similar feel but a little more elegant decor, the adjacent Yacht Club is a fantastic option. I’ve been to both resorts and have always enjoyed my stay.
Another fun favorite family-friendly resort at Disney World is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This one is especially popular for kids who love seeing animals – definitely splurge for a savanna-view room if you can.
The Gaylord Palms in Orlando, FL
I’ve been to all of the Gaylord resorts, but I especially love the Gaylord Palms for family travel. Located a short distance away from the variety of family attractions in the Orlando area, the Gaylord Palms offers a 4.5-acre glass atrium, as well as the Cypress Springs Family Fun Water Park.
It’s visually impressive, and so different from your standard hotel. With 9 different food outlets, you really don’t need to leave the resort. If you stay there for your vacation, I’d recommend planning at least one day to just hang out at the resort because there is so much to do.
The Gaylord Palms is centrally located in Kissimmee. You will, however, probably need a rental car if you want to experience the various Orlando attractions in the area. Check prices and book here .
World Center Marriott Resort , Orlando, FL
I’d seen the Marriott World Center resort plenty of times when I was headed to Walt Disney World, but it was only a few years ago when I had the opportunity to visit. This large resort offers 1,889 guest rooms and 120 suites, but my favorite area is the pool area.
The Falls Pool Area features a kids’ splash area, a kids’ zero-entry pool, a slide tower with two, 200-foot winding water slides and one, 90-foot speed water slide, the Fall’s pool bar and grill (with delicious food), and a main pool.
If you can, I’d recommend upgrading to a room with a pool view – you may even get to see fireworks! Like the Gaylord Palms, this is a resort where you’ll want to plan at least one day to just hang out at the resort.
I love the World Center Marriott, but it is definitely a busy resort. If you prefer a more low-key hotel, this is probably not the best option for you. See prices here .
JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes
Looking for a luxury resort in Orlando with a side of nature? The JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes is located adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes on a combined 500 acres of gorgeous land. Guests of both resorts have access to all amenities, including Shingle Creek, the headwaters of the Florida Everglades.
I didn’t have the opportunity to stay there during my tour of the resort. However, I did enjoy checking out the beautiful pool area and an amazing spa. It’s definitely a nice oasis among the theme parks of Central Florida.
If you’d like to explore nature on your Florida vacation, there are options right at the resort. You can book an eco-tour of the creek, where you’ll be guided on a kayaking excursion through the headwaters of the Everglades (outside of Everglades National Park ). See prices here .
Lido Beach Resort, Lido Key
Lido Beach Resort, located about an hour from the Tampa airport and a short distance from the Sarasota airport, offers 223 recently-renovated guest rooms and suites right on the white sand beach. This quintessential beach resort is such a great spot for a family beach vacation.
This dog-friendly resort offers two beachfront pools (one family pool, and one adult-only pool), three jacuzzis, a sundries shop, and a small fitness center, as well as three on-site restaurants.
St. Armands Circle, which is home to restaurants and shops, is a short distance away. There is plenty for kids to do in Sarasota , making it a nice spot to stay in. While you are there, be sure to visit the famous Ringling Museum.
See prices and book here .
The Resort at Longboat Key Club
The Resort at Longboat Key Club, a luxury resort in the Sarasota area, offers 223 large rooms and suites (some with full kitchens). The resort offers a pool, fitness center, tennis courts, a kids’ club, 27 holes of golf, 8 on-site restaurants, and a beautiful beach.
While I loved looking at the pool from my hotel balcony, I preferred to hang out at the beach right on the Gulf of Mexico. The resort is located on a barrier island off the coast of Sarasota.
You can easily spend multiple days at the beach, and you can rent beach loungers, beds, cabanas, and umbrellas from the resort (hotel guests receive complimentary chair rentals). I loved the beach – it’s such a beautiful spot for a family vacation.
Be sure to book a tennis lesson or a spa treatment for a luxurious vacation splurge during your trip.
Marco Beach Ocean Resort, Marco Island, FL
When we booked our JetBlue Getaways trip to Marco Island years ago, I wasn’t familiar at all with the island. I looked at online reviews as well as prices and ended up booking the Marco Beach Ocean Resort. This luxury resort offers a number of family amenities including an outdoor pool, beachfront access, watersports, and family suites.
We spent most of our time at the resort, but when we did dine out, it was easy to walk to a few local places. We loved our stay there, and definitely want to return.
Marco Island Beach is definitely one of the best Florida beaches for families . While you are in Marco Island, make sure you check out the Dolphin Study Eco-Tour and Cruise, which my kids absolutely loved.
Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne
I visited the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne for a conference, and I’ve been wanting to go back with my family since then. This luxurious family resort offers two pools (including a family pool with waterslides), beachfront access, a spa and fitness center, and more.
There’s also the popular Ritz-Carlton kids club, as well as water sports activities. It’s located about 20 minutes from the Miami airport, so it’s easy to access. You’ll probably want to rent a car so that you’ll be able to leave the key and explore the rest of the Miami area.
Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa
If you are planning to visit Clearwater Florida for a family beach vacation, you’ll want to find a resort right on the white sand beach. During our recent family vacation, we stayed at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa , located adjacent to Pier 60.
Kids will love the various lawn games located on the beach, and there’s also a large outdoor pool, ping pong table, pool, beach bar, and so much more.
The resort is located within walking distance of most of the Clearwater Beach activities so you won’t need your car much. We loved walking to the various beach restaurants in the area.
Like other Clearwater Beach hotels, this hotel does charge for the rental of beach chairs, sunbeds, cabanas, and umbrellas. If you are staying for a longer vacation, you may consider renting these from a separate company so that you can save money.
It can be booked here .
Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
This resort, located within the gates of Walt Disney World, is a great option for a Disney vacation. Although it’s not an official Disney property, it’s very close to Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks.
It’s located with its sister resort, the Waldorf Astoria, and between the two resorts, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. There’s also a great pool area with a lazy river, so plan on spending some time at the resort. The Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek can be booked here .
JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort and Spa
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort and Spa completed a renovation recently, including a huge water park. While it’s not located right on the beach, there is a complimentary shuttle that will take you to the beach during your stay.
Kids will love the brand-new water park complex, which includes a lazy river, triple Flowrider, zero-entry pool, water structure for younger kids, and water slide tower with 7 different slides. You’ll easily be able to spend at least one full day there.
The rooms at the resort are lovely and are all very convenient to the water park. The resort is also adjacent to a mall, with shopping and dining options. You can fly into either the Fort Lauderdale or the Miami airport for your stay. See prices and book your stay here .
