The award winning 70.7m/231'11" motor yacht 'Skat' was built by Lurssen in Germany at their Bremen shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Marco Zanini and she was completed in 2002. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Espen Oeino and she was last refitted in 2022.

An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 62,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register ✠ 100A1, SSC Yacht (P) Mono, G6, , ✠ LMC , UMS classification society rules.

Motor Yacht

Skat is a 70.70m (231.96ft) motor yacht, custom built in 2002 by Lurssen Yachts. The yacht's interior has been designed by Marco Zanini. She was last refitted in 2005.

Skat has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with a beam of 13.50m (44.29ft) and a 3.75m (12.30ft) draft. This custom displacement yacht is equipped with an ultra-modern stabilization system which reduces roll motion effect and results in a smoother more enjoyable cruising experience. She also features bow thrusters making her more manoeuvrable at low speeds. Skat is built to comply to MCA and LR standards. Performance + Capabilities Skat has a cruising speed of 15 knots, max speed of 17 knots and a range of 3500 nm from her 218000-litre fuel tanks. Skat Accommodation Skat offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in five suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 20 crew members onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

The 70-metre yacht SKAT was built to be a comfortable second home, with iconic exterior design by Espen Øino and interior design by Marco Zanini. Comfort and performance were essential with noise and vibration levels extremely low at cruising speeds. The construction brief called for as much light as possible, which resulted in a glass conservatory on the bridge deck, which allows natural light to shine in from above and below while affording magnificent views of the yacht's surroundings. With a very clean layout and separation, the lower decks are entirely dedicated to technical spaces, crew and services. They received the same level of attention to design and detail as the owner and guest accommodation on the upper decks. Delivered in 2002, the size and quality of these crew spaces is still outstanding even today.

SKAT Yacht – Masterful $60M Superyacht

The Hungary native worked at Microsoft for over two decades, leaving in 2002 to start his own company.

The yacht was designed as a home away from home for Simonyi, with minimalist features penned by design house Espen Øino International.

The design house also contributed to the interior design and Marco Zanini. Lurssen built the ship in their Bremen shipyard, delivering her in 2002.

Marco Zanini and Espen Øino International penned the interior of the luxurious SKAT yacht.

Minimalism defines the interior, and although she forgoes the lavish luxury of the average superyacht, she has many beautiful features that make her a comfortable home away from home for the owner.

The impressive interior of SKAT features an elevator that serves all four decks, a leisure platform with a Jacuzzi, and a gymnasium that is located centrally on the yacht. A helipad serves a McDonnell Douglas 500N Helicopter on the upper aft deck.

The 70m yacht can accommodate 12 guests across one master suite, four doubles, and two twins.

There is accommodation for 18 crew members on board. She was built as a home and not as a charter yacht for the software engineer owner.

The interior design is focused on a clean and uncluttered look. The ship has a near-frameless bridge deck that is enclosed and offers panoramic views of the water.

The ‘capsule’ is protected as the boat spends a lot of time in Scandinavia and has to let in as much light as possible.

The beach club opens to allow guests to enjoy a swim platform and houses several water toys in the full-beam garage. The crew areas were designed with crew satisfaction in mind.

The owner uses SKAT as a home away from home, so crew satisfaction was influential in the design process.

Lurssen shipbuilders built the SKAT yacht at their Bremen shipyard in Germany. Espen Øino International executed the exterior design for the vessel.

The SKAT yacht was delivered in 2002, and she was last refitted in 2021.

Her exterior is undoubtedly striking with its grey color, imposing lines, and multiple windows. The owner is a software engineer, and the yacht was designed to reflect his vocation.

Specifications

The 70.7m yacht has a beam of 14.02m and a draft of 3.76m. The SKAT’s volume measures 1998 gross tons and is powered by 2 MTU engines.

A Summary of Motor Yacht SKAT

The motor yacht SKAT is a 71 metre 232 (foot) volumous steel vessel which was made at Lurssen Yachts and designed in the office of Lurssen and Espen Oeino. The naval architect that made the drawings in respect of the yacht was Lurssen and Espen Oeino. Also, the interior designing is sucessful creation of Marco Zanini / Flavia Alves De Sousa.

With an assured military style SKAT with angular grey styling and the large numbers 9906 painted on her superstructure turn head s on the water. Interestingly, on just one engine she can reach a speed of up to 13 knots. In the situation, the idle engines shaft can be disengaged, so the idle propeller freewheels.

The Build & Naval Architecture with respect to Luxury Yacht SKAT

Lurssen was the naval architecture company involved in the professional superyacht plans for SKAT. Her interior design was realised by Marco Zanini / Flavia Alves De Sousa. Lurssen and Espen Oeino is also associated with the yacht wider design collaboration for this boat. In 2002 she was formally launched to triumph in Bremen and following sea trials and detailing was thereafter handed over to the owner who commissioned her. Lurssen Yachts completed their new build motor yacht in Germany. A impressive feeling is manifested with a maximum beam (width) of 13.5 m / 44.3 feet. With a 3.72m (12.2ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure above deck is fashioned out of aluminium. In 2005 extra refit work and updating was additionally performed.

The Propulsion Type - Main Engines On M/Y SKAT:

Installed with two MTU diesel engines, SKAT can attain a high speed of 17 knots. Coupled to the SKAT engines are twin screw propellers. Her total HP is 5340 HP and her total Kilowatts are 3929. With respect to bow thruster maneuverability she was fitted with Brunvoll. As for the yacht’s stabalisers she was built with Koopnautic.

Skat: Inside the Iconic Lürssen Yacht

Launched in 2002, Skat  features a military inspired exterior penned by Espen Øino and is built from steel and aluminium.

A bird's eye view of the legendary yacht reveals the helipad aft and standout sun deck forward, complete with a Jacuzzi.

The Main Deck Aft

The aft main deck is expansive and open with fixed and loose seating, coffee tables and buffet servers either side. One buffet has a push button bar that opens with bottle storage and the port side also opens with a sink and fridge.

Main Dining

The intimate interior dining room is equipped with split teak-topped tables that can also be converted into a single long table large enough to seat 12 guests.

The Main Saloon

The main saloon doubles as a cinema with a flexible seating arrangement and large screen television.

The Informal Saloon

The Marco Zanini designed interior is flooded with natural light thanks to Skat's massive windows that extend full width out over the main deck.

The Bridge Deck Aft

Aft of the bridge deck is the open air dining area, which is light, bright and airy. A total of 12 guests can be seated at the al fresco dining table, which is flanked by a lounging area and U-shaped seating area opposite.

The Sun Deck

Taking the Lines off of Scat II , a Previously Unknown Design by John Black

In our previous issue (Volume 18, number 1) we told the story of Scat II , built by the father of Dave Crawford when he was a student of John Black’s in Watertown, Mass. in 1930.

When Dave brought the existence of this boat to my attention in a series of emails I knew that she was so important that her lines had to be in the historical record.

Traditional Methods

The process generally begins by taking off the sections, and then developing the other curves by a process called lofting .

This method also requires some measuring apparatus that touches the hull at each point of measurement. The most famous of such devices was used by Nathanael Herreshoff, who designed in three dimensions by carving half-hulls and then took offsets which were then scaled up to produce the full size boat.

The operation of the device is shown in the photo. The upper knob moves the horizontal bare vertically and provides a readout of the dimension H in our diagram. The lower knob moves the bar back and forth and provides a readout of the dimension D .

Besides requiring special equipment, the traditional method involves touching the hull being measured at multiple points, which may not be desirable for an old and important hull.

A Modern Method

The next task is to convert the projected laser line to something that can be used in a drawing. To do this we need a vector drawing program. I use EazyDraw for the Mac; there are several similar programs for Windows. The program should be able to handle “layers” and be able to smooth polylines into Bezier curves. The first step in conversion is to draw a polyline in a layer above that of the photo:

Then the curve is smoothed:

It can then be copied and pasted into the working drawing. Since we are working with a fair hull containing smooth transition from section we do not have to take a photograph at each desired section point. Rather, we can capture just three master sections: the midships master section, which defines the basic hull shape, the forebody master section, which defines the transition from the bow to midships, and the afterbody master section, which defines the transition from midships to the stem. The sections in between then can be interpolated by the lofting process.

The midships master section is usually at the point of maximum beam. The other two sections take a bit of judgement to find, but they will be roughly halfway between midships and the end of the boat.

The resulting full drawing for Scat II is shown below. I hope this technique will be used by others to document boats in their possession and permit the building of replicas.

Finished picture is a old picture of what once was. I purchased a new set of skirts "anti-plow" they are still in box. I also purchased an new cover for it. I purchased all the clips to install the skirts. I decided to paint it before I put the skirts on. I found plastic stress marks in a few places and decided to fiberglass the stress cracks so the marks do not show in new paint job. These marks are not broke plastic or from any kind of miss use. Plastic does this kind of stuff. Started to do the sanding and the belt on my sander broke. Got this far and had to stop for now. Removed carb and cleaned it. The rubber boot between the carb and intake was cracked so I purchased a new one. I haven't put the rubber boot back on or the carb. This was a sweet ride but I don't go to a area to ride it anymore. Look over pictures. Trailer is included. It has a electric lift on each corner of the trailer to lift the floor off the trailer and onto the ground then just drive hovercraft off or back onto trailer. One of the lifts I know has a bad electric motor which can be easily replaced if desired. As is where is.

2014 Vortex Storm Hovercraft - better than SCAT - MUST GO!

The Storm is an established, world championship winning design from England. It is a great craft for zipping around the lake or river in all seasons. This like-new craft was built from a kit using only the best quality parts and materials. It finished runner-up in the Hoverclub of America quality construction award competition, and placed 2nd in Formula 50 at the 2014 national hovercraft races in Ohio. It has top quality components, including a state of the art HTD fan drive system turning a 950mm Hascon fan, DRYGlide throttle cable, tiny tach digital tachometer/hour meter, and Westach 3” dual exhaust gas temperature gauge. This lightweight hovercraft (only 330 lbs) is constructed from molded fiberglass and has a Kevlar reinforced bottom for extra impact protection. The steering is a PWC type steering system with a push-pull cable moving two rudders. The skirt is in excellent condition and skirt patterns are included to make new future skirts. 2001 Hovercraft Airboat Webercraft Like Design

Updated and Customized in 2013. History: Built by Brian & Kevin Roesche, Blanchardville, WS in 2001. This was the first craft of many they built using similar specs and techniques as the Weber Starcruiser (which once cost $15,000.00 from the Weber factory where Brian was once employed for years). With the present 25hp thrust engine this craft reaches top speed of about 35 mph flying on 3" of air. In 2002 it was sold to my cousin who used it for ice fishing a few times each season for 7 years. In 2012 he sold it to me due to repairs needed to the craft. The hull was completely stripped re-glassed and the engine mount platform completely rebuilt and re-glassed. It also received a new floor, seat and seat base, dashboard, and bag/skirt It was repainted using high quality automotive paint with 5 coats of clear. Note: the Starcruisers were all painted with roll on enamel, the present paint job on this craft would cost if a bodyshop painted it. Other features added were a new redesigned windshield and frame and a reinforced nose, lift engine duct and thrust duct. Allowing higher horsepower engines to be installed if desired. Also includes updated gauges and 3 access ports holes, which can be used for storage or keep the beer cool. The gauges are not hooked up, but are new, I never really needed them. All tolled the added amenities added only 60lbs. Take a sneak peek at the biggest and most expensive boats at 2024's Palm Beach yacht show

• The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
• Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
• These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocked potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to if in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter)

Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious: 85 meters

Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter

Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam, or Turkish bath — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).

Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter)

Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Joy: 70 meters

Price: From $650,000 a week

Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter

Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter)

Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000

Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.

Melania Trump's Mysterious 2-Word Response Gets Scathing 'Interpretation' By Ex-Pal

Melania Trump on Tuesday was concise when asked about whether she will take a more active role in husband Donald Trump ’s presidential campaign ― but at least one former insider isn’t expecting much.

“Stay tuned,” she said during a public appearance with the former president in Florida.

But Stephanie Winston Wolkoff , a former Trump confidante who turned against the family and wrote a tell-all book about her experience, warned not to read too much into the former first lady’s comments.

“Let me interpret this for you,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

The former first lady has made few public appearances in recent years and posts only occasional social media messages, including sales pitches for NFTs and Christmas ornaments.

She also has not been with her husband at his various ongoing legal proceedings.

That’s led to speculation over what, if any, role she intends to have in the 2024 campaign.

Donald Trump last month called her “a private person.”

“If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it,” he said on Fox News . “She’s just a different kind of a person.”

However, he said supporters should expect to see more of her on the campaign trail.

“She’s going to be out a lot,” he said. “Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results.”

That hasn’t happened yet, and Winston Wolkoff appears to be among those who think it may not happen at all.

Winston Wolkoff had a 15-year relationship with Melania Trump, helped organize Donald Trump’s inauguration, and served in the White House as an unpaid adviser to the then-first lady.

After the two had a falling out, she published the book “Melania and Me” and released embarrassing audio of her conversations with Melania Trump .

The Trump administration took her to court to try to block the book, but the case was dropped after President Joe Biden took office.
