Blog | Season 4 of “Selling Yachts” is Airing NOW

Check your local listings, because the best yachting show on television – yes, far better than Bravo’s “Below Deck” – has kicked off it’s Season 4. You can find the show on the AWE Network , which is available through DirectTV, Verizon Fios, DISH Satellite TV, and dozens of other cable & satellite providers around the U.S. (and Canada, the Caribbean, and the Middle East). AWE is NOT on Comcast – but this can be rectified if enough people contact them and let them know that they’re missing out by not airing a phenomenal, wildly popular show!

As you’re hopefully aware, the 26 North Yachts team has been the featured brokerage house on “Selling Yachts” since the very first season in 2015. Why do we do the show? Well, because we love the business of buying & selling yachts, and that’s what this show is all about. We’ve filmed on many different types of yachts: Azimut, Lazzara, Rayburn, Pershing , Outer Reef, Horizon, and too many other types of vessels to mention. “Selling Yachts” has been a terrific vehicle for showing hundreds of thousands, and ultimately millions upon millions, of people what we do every single day of the week.

Many people have questions about how “Selling Yachts” is filmed. First, an episode takes one day to shoot, and we capture two yachts during that time. Sometimes a broker, like Matt Stone or Greg Halligan, will be filming all day long, and sometimes it’s just on one yacht, and then they’ll pass the “baton” to another broker. How many crew are there? Good question. Generally speaking, there are two camera operators, a Production Assistant (a “PA” in Hollywood speak), and a director. It’s not a huge crew, but the beautiful thing about super high-end digital cameras is that you really don’t need too many people to put together a terrific television product.

One of the motor yachts that we recently filmed was “Hurricane #1”, a 2012 64′ Pershing . You can see Matt Stone on board her, right in the middle of a shoot, in the picture above. This yacht was located at Marina Bay in Fort Lauderdale, so it was super convenient for everyone involved to capture this particular motor yacht in all her glory – but beyond that, this Pershing yacht was basically made for TV (and movies too) – does it get much sleeker or sexier than a Pershing 64? We think not.

Here’s how we summed up what a special yacht “Hurricane #1” is just a few days before her “small screen” debut…

We are pleased to introduce our latest listing, “ Hurricane #1”, a 2012 64’ Pershing . The first thing to know about her is that she cruises at 42 knots and tops out at blistering 46 knots, courtesy of twin MTU 1623 HP engines (with less than 600 hours on them). That turns the trip from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini into a barely-time-for-lunch kind of excursion. In her case, though, speed is just a part of the equation.

Hurricane #1 also happens to be extremely clean, thanks to a lifetime of being properly cared for. She has never wanted maintenance or touch-ups when needed. That’s why when her exterior started to lose a tiny bit of its luster, she was immediately sent for a full paint job. But this Pershing 64 is not “just” a finely-tuned missile-of-a-yacht – her indulgent accommodations, notable for its three luxury staterooms and gorgeous, sunroof-equipped salon, are first-rate too.

Needless to say, the producers of “Selling Yachts” were thrilled when we first approached them with the idea of filming on this Pershing. Then again, some of our favorite vessels have made an appearance on the show. In fact, the only yacht that we were not able to get on the Show – thanks to scheduling issues – was “Angiamo”, the well-known 2003 140′ Feadship that we sold in record time earlier this year.

If you’re not already a fan of “Selling Yachts”, we hope that you become one! The AWE Network frequently does marathons of the show, and that will be a good time to binge-watch and get all caught up. The next batch of new episodes premieres on Saturday, November 16th. And, even after that, Season 4 still has another 6 episodes to go – and your favorite boutique yacht brokerage firm will be starring in virtually all of the remaining episodes. Stay tuned!

Why ryan serhant returned to real estate reality tv with netflix’s ‘owning manhattan’.

After a break following a decade on Bravo with 'Million Dollar Listing: New York,' the agent to the stars wanted to do something different. "The question was, 'What will make people look up from their phones?'" he says.

Ryan Serhant from season 1 of Owning Manhattan.

To be lured back from his hiatus from the reality TV universe after 10 seasons on Bravo ’s Million Dollar Listing : New York , NYC-based celebrity broker Ryan Serhant knew he wanted to do something different. “I didn’t want to make Million Dollar Listing: New York 2.0, or a spinoff of Selling Sunset, which has its own distinct style,” he says. “So, we’ve created a concept of elevated reality.”

Related Stories

Heather dubrow and tamra judge say 'rhoc' feels like the "glory days" after a tumultuous season 17, nicole kidman, liev schreiber head a family of suspects in a murder case in 'the perfect couple' teaser trailer.

“Ryan gives good TV because he is good TV,” says World of Wonder’s Randy Barbato, who executive produces the show. “It’s authentic. It’s not an act. Before we started filming, he’s been building this empire, and he has decided that he wants to be the number one brokerage firm in the world. And to see someone trying to achieve that is amazing. On top of that, he is someone who has heart, and is funny and is a great businessman — they’re the things you’d put on a wish list and then expect AI to generate. But Ryan actually delivers it. And then on top of it, he has perfect skin.”

Most of the action takes place in the Serhant headquarters in Soho, home of the former Tommy Hilfiger landmark store, which becomes a kind of character in the show. “It’s like the Soho House of real estate,” says executive producer Fenton Bailey, of World of Wonder.

Barbato agrees. “It’s very chic. It’s very happening. It’s very buzzy.”

With Serhant stepping into the role of brave leader and mentor, the show focuses on a mix of agents both old and new, with made-for-TV appeal and flash for days. “It is a Baskin-Robbins,” Barbato says.  “There are many flavors of amazing cast members in this cast.”

“I, lately, have been equating the real estate business with the drag queen business,” says Bailey, longtime producer of Drag Race along with Barbato. “To be a great agent is just not that dissimilar to being a great drag queen.”

No one personifies this more than the brash Chloe Tucker Caine, a Broadway star in Mama Mia! before becoming a top-selling agent.

“You have to be a triple threat,” Bailey says. “You’ve got to know your stuff about property. You’ve got to know how to sell it. You’ve got to know how to dress well. You’ve got to know how to walk and talk, and you’ve got to know media. You’ve got to know how to post great videos. You know what, drag queens and real estate agents are the Marines of reality!”

Although he is an old hand at being a reality star, Serhant admits that filming Owning Manhattan was daunting. “Shooting this entire show was terrifying. It was unlike anything I’ve ever done,” he says. “We shot the entire show in real time, and it’s the only real estate show where there are live firings. So, I don’t know if I would call those scenes ‘fun,’ but they were the most real I’ve seen on an docuseries, and I’m excited for the audience to experience them.”

“We’ve been making property shows for a gazillion years. I mean, the first show we made was Hot Property for Channel 5 in the U.K., literally last century,” Bailey says. “And it’s funny to see how selling real estate and homes has evolved and really fused with media and social media. It used to be that a listing would be just a few pictures, and you’d have to make an appointment — you’d have to go see it. And now, there are 360-degree videos. There are drones flying through the house!”

Much of the drama of the season revolves around Serhant’s attempt to sell the soaring penthouse at Central Park Tower, the highest residence in the world with an elevation of 17,545 feet. Currently listed for $195 million, the penthouse serves as a metaphor for the great heights Serhant and his crew aspire to.

Viewers are now finding out. In a media space crowded with real estate fare, Owning Manhattan promises to be a breath of rarefied fresh air, with one old hat in the center of it all. “Ryan is back where he belongs,” Barbato says. “On everyone’s TV set all around the world.”

Below Deck TV Show

Below Deck: Superyacht TV show to return for two new series

US TV network Bravo has announced that superyacht TV show Below Deck will be returning to screens for two new spin-off seasons, Below Deck Adventure and Below Deck Down Under.

Premiering in early 2022, Below Deck Adventure will follow the escapades of explorer yachts cruising in the icy fjords of Norway , playing host to thrill-seeking charterers as they partake in adrenaline-fueled exploits while exploring the glacial waters and rugged landscapes.

Unlike other seasons that have been set in sunnier climes, such as Below Deck Mediterranean , the camera crew will follow charterers’ exhilarating activities in sub-zero temperatures, such as heli-skiing and dog sledding.

The crew will be pushed to new limits as they attempt to maintain a luxury service alongside managing the physical and technical demands of cold-weather cruising.

Below Deck Down Under will be aired on NBC’s Peacock streaming platform. This series, which is already well underway with filming, is taking place on the other side of the globe in Australia. Home to the Great Barrier Reef , Australia has some of the world’s greatest cruising grounds on offer, and the crew will be expected to provide activities for guests below and above the water, with scuba diving being one of the main draws of the region.

The TV show follows the secret lives of superyacht crews working on board charter yachts , capturing behind-the-scenes footage of their day-to-day obligations and interactions. Crews featured in previous series have worked on a range of superyachts available for charter , including 54 metre sailing yacht Parsifal III and 56.2 metre motor yacht The Wellesley .

Some crew members, such as Captain Lee Rosbach and Captain Sandy Yawn , have achieved something of a celebrity status following the success of the show’s earlier seasons.

Further details about the new series, including the crew cast, are yet to be announced but will be released in due course.

TV star hopes to start his own company after getting fired 'on purpose' on the show

Owning Manhattan is one of the latest new hot reality show releases on Netflix, but where the series one cast are now and what they have been up to since the show aired, is a different story.

Real easte mogul Ryan Serhant closed another deal, but this time not in real estate but in showbiz. Serhant got his very own show Owning Manhattan with Netflix . This show is set to offer an inside look into the adrenaline-filled, high-stakes world of New York City real estate. The eight episode series launched on June 28 and followed Serhant and his army of elite agents as they try to secure some of the city’s most luxury listings. Cast members have created divisive opinions about themselves amongst the audience, with many asking where they are now.

Ryan Serhant

Serhant was the CEO of the show with a group of ambitious agents working under him. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic Ryan launched his own brokerage which has since expanded to seven states, grown its employee roster to over 500 people, and has amassed six million followers on social media.

Ryan currently resides in Brooklyn with wife Emilia and daughter Zena. He is enjoying his time as a leading figure in the real estate industry with his company securing the number six spot on The Real Deal’s list of Top Residential Brokerages in 2020.

Chloe Tucker Caine

Described as a powerhouse real estate agent, marketing expert and media personality, Chloe began her career on Broadway. She is recognized for her creativity and tenacity in the real-estate field, continuing to break records in the real-estate field. Chloe made a name with fans of the show as the ‘ reality TV villain ‘ when she engaged in an on-screen argument.

Chloe currently lives in Flatiron with her husband, toy poodle and recent edition to the family baby Charley Caine who was born earlier this year. The new mother can be seen on Instagram performing in $25 million penthouses. Maybe the reality star has found a way to combine her passion for real-estate and Broadway.

Nile Lundgren

With a decade in the industry Nile Lundgren has amassed more than $300 million in sales. He specializes in high-end luxury and new development closing deals all over New York City.

The self-declared ‘veteran’ is now worth more than $9 million , making $560 million of sales in the last six years. Now residing in Williamsburg, Lundgren’s Instagram has a host of cute photo’s with girlfriend Lola Sherunkova.

Nile is still listed under Serhant, seemingly with a close relationship with his boss as he shows off a Cartier watch on his account gifted by Serhant.

Team Tricia Lee at Serhant focuses on home sales and luxury rentals alongside her partner Jeffrey St. Arromand. At her former brokerage she had a record-breaking year of sales, before selling over $200 million in her solo career.

A few months ago Tricia was named as one of the Top 5 Real-Estate Brokers in Brooklyn by the BK Reader %20Tricia,“Deenie”%20Simpson%2DAdjei.).

Her Instagram suggests she is continuing to enjoy Reality-TV fame with a picture captioned, ““Has anyone ever told you that you look like Tricia from Owning Manhattan?” and boasting that she has “four contracts signed this month.”

Jade Shenker

Real estate industry disrupter and advisor Jade Shenker is listed as the industry’s Top 30 Under 30. Shenker has been raised by a real estate investment focused family, labelled as a third-generation real-estate whizz . Jade served as a board member for planning and zoning committees in South Florida.

Since the show Jade has featured on her first magazine cover in the July issue of L’Officiel USA. In a heartfelt message on Instagram showcasing the shoot Jade shares, “Thank you to the amazing team who made these looks happen, the amazing designers, and everyone who messaged me and binged #owningmanhattan”

Born and raised in New York City Markowski has a deep understanding of the local neighborhoods helping her excel in the market. She is tireless in her client centered approach achieving each of their unique goals. She previously worked as head of communications for Screenshop, a company co-founded by Kim Kardashian, building her substantial online following.

Sharing some stunning photos on Instagram Markowski tells GOSS magazine that she has always used her platform to make some extra income.

She divulged: “After some time, Instagram had become the next big thing and I had a lot of offers from companies to promote their products. I quickly realized that this was a good way to monetize and have an extra stream of income.”

When asked where she sees herself in the next five to ten years in real estate, Jessica dreams of, “owning real estate and being a landlord is where I see myself taking the business. Helping my clients and myself build a beautiful passive portfolio.”

Jessica Taylor

Netflix describes Jessica Taylor as an “attentive and creative broker” who quickly established herself as a leading presence in the NYC real estate community. With involvement in more than $500 million sales, she has experience working with buyers and sellers at every price point.

Since the show aired Jessica has been seen getting back to her “country girl” roots by escaping the city to sun herself on the beach for the holidays. Taylor was also celebrating in Time Square last month at the launch of a billboard advertising the show.

“Yesterday was CRAZY!!! Look at all those pretty faces in Times Square!!!” Jessica comments, adding, “P.S. this is as excited as a British person can get!! We get real squeaky!”

Jordan Hurt

Jordan Hurt is a trusted real estate advisor with $200 million in sales over his 11-year career. Hurt regularly volunteers at the New York City LGBTQ Center and was in the process of creating his own cosmetics line before the show aired.

Jordan recently turned 36 with a series of modeling shots posted to Instagram to celebrate his ‘epic year’. He also took a plane ride with his father, who he didn’t meet until later in life captioning the event, “But life has its way of working out; there’s a right time for everything, and he was there to see me fly and see the person I’ve grown into today.”

There is no evidence yet of his cosmetics line reaching the sales stage, I guess we have to watch this space on that one.

Jonathan Nørmølle

Danish New Yorker and longterm Downtown Manhattan resident Jonathan Nørmølle is known for his work ethic which extends to 24/7 availability. As a new addition to the Serhant team he was set to show his value by using outside the box thinking combined with new-school marketing techniques.

Jonathon ended up being a controversial character on the show showing up late to an important showing and being rude to the listing agent. He got fired by Serhant during the filming, but now claims that he acted purposefully with this goal in mind .

Jonathan revealed to the Daily Mail plans to start his own business, claiming termination was the only way to break contract with Serhant.

Since the show he has featured on the cover of Downtown magazine as “Downtowns next gen of real estate broker.” Seems his stint with Owning Manhattan hasn’t destroyed his reputation in the real estate world.

Jordan March

A distinguished 16-year veteran of the real estate industry, Jordan March is regarded as a pioneer for his use of digital media. March’s long term goal is to further the movement of New Urbanism, minimizing the negative environmental impact of buildings.

Three weeks ago Jordan was honored with a “Major Milestone” he shared on Instagram. Empire Collective, the team he heads at Serhant, was ranked the number one team within the company. Additionally, “the 24th top team in New York State within under a year of its inception!”

He gushes over his team on the social media platform sharing, “I’m so incredibly proud of the brokers I work with. Their dedication, resilience, and relentless pursuit of excellence are what make Empire Collective truly special.”

Savannah Gowarty

Savannah is a content creator and real estate agent. She navigates every transaction with honesty and care due to her Southern hospitality and relentless negotiating spirit. Gowarty’s social media presence has cultivated a following based on her interests: real estate, gold and fashion.

With over 23,000 followers on Instagram Savannah continues to share her chic golf wear with her fans. It seems she’s starting a series of posts showcasing her fashion on the show labelled “show OOTDs”. Savannah is currently listed under the real estate agency Compass.

Jeffrey St. Arromand

Fiancé of Tricia Lee, Jeffrey is a three-time Emmy award-winning sports television producer. His skills in public speaking have allowed him to share his expertise on real estate trends, marketing, and brand development.

Jeffrey has been publicly gossiping about the series. He has regularly featured on YouTube channel Real Estate Media discussing a number of trend affecting the NYC housing market and dropping hints not all the cast ‘survive the show’. Arromand has also appeared alongside other cast members on the Breakfast Club to discuss the reality of perseverance and commitment needed for success.

Genesis Suero

Former Miss New York USA winner Genesis Suero is an accomplished realtor and television personality. She is the star seller of the Lundgren team with a sales record of several million dollars.

Celebrating her Latin heritage a pinned post on Instagram share why it is so important for Suero to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. She gives credit to the ambition and dedication of her parents stating, “Those were my first entrepreneurial experiences. I continued to build my work ethic, skills and passion to help others and now I sell and help people find their home in the capital of the world, La Gran Manzana!”

She has made a second appearance on Top Chef VIP since the show, but this time not as a contestant as a judge.

Meet the Superyachts of Below Deck

17th mar 2022 by samantha wilson.

Rightboat logo

The US TV show Below Deck has become a global hit as it follows the crews of superyachts as they navigate the highs and lows of life in this ultra-glamourous world. There are tears and tantrums, eccentric yacht charter guests to contend with, dazzling destinations and a whole lot of drama. Viewers have been gripped with the shows – season 9 Below Deck has recently aired – for the unique insight into what has, until now, been a tantalizingly elusive industry. Just what goes on behind the gilded doors of those glittering superyachts? Well, now we know.

The yachts themselves have risen to as much fame as the crews and captains, and left many a-viewer daydreaming of a few days lounging on the teak decks of MY Seanna or Valor. Here we take a look at the superyachts that have shot to reality TV stardom, discover their real names and how much it costs to charter a Below Deck yacht.

Girl in a jacket

The very first yacht to appear on Below Deck Season 1 was this 50 metre Benetti, with the now famous Captain Lee Rosbach at the helm. Cruising around Sint Marten in the Caribbean, one of the top destinations for superyacht charters, Honor – whose real name is actually Barents - wowed viewers with her luxury and elegance. The six staterooms, sun deck, drinks bar and the must-have hot tub, played host to fun and shenanigans as the Below Deck yacht crew hosted their guests during four-night charters. Barents was designed by Stefano Natucci, and has recently undergone a full refit adding a sleek interior design to the arsenal of water toys, gym, beach club and indoor and outdoor cinemas. MY Barents charters for around €155,000/week.

While 46.94m superyacht Ohana appeared in Season 2 Below Deck under her own name, she was renamed Star Diamond since her sale. Built by Admiral Marine Works in 1998, Star Diamond had a major refit in 2018 and oozes classic superyacht elegance with soft, neutral interior design by Donald Starkey Designs, as well as plenty of deck space. Viewers will remember the deck crew battling with the large inflatable slide which offers guests a rip-roaring entry into the waters of Star Diamond’s summer cruising grounds of the Caribbean (we saw her cruising around one of the world’s top charter destinations, the British Virgin Islands), while the sun deck Jacuzzi and large on-deck dining area saw their fair share of scintillating drama. Ohana charters for around $160,000 per week.

Girl in a jacket

Season 3 Below Deck saw the 49.7m Eros make her television debut as she glided around the turquoise waters of The Bahamas with Captain Lee on the bridge. At the time she was officially named Mustang Sally, but has since been renamed Stay Salty. With space for 12 guests and 10 crew members, Stay Salty is currently not available for charter, which is a disappointment to those who dreamed of lounging in her outdoor hot tub or enjoying a meal with friends around the al fresco dining table. Designed by Geoff Van Aller, Stay Salty offers a classically elegant interior styling, with rich woods and neutral tones, as well as plenty of deck space…all of which needed meticulous cleaning by her famed 2015 crew.

Girl in a jacket

Valor appeared in Season 4, 5 and 7 of Below Deck as she cruised around the glorious superyacht destinations of the US Virgin Islands, Saint-Martin and Phuket, Thailand. The 47 metre Feadship is actually named BG (for her owner, the Canadian entrepreneur Bobby Genovese) and spends her winters in the Caribbean and summers in the Mediterranean. With her monogram palette, sky lounge, beautiful outdoor spaces and that infamous water slide, it is easy to see why Bravo used BG as the setting for so many of its seasons. BG charters for around €140,000/week.

Girl in a jacket

MY Seanna has now joined Valor in featuring more times than any other Below Deck superyacht, with appearances in three of the nine seasons. When we first met her she was sailing around the stunning tropical islands of French Polynesia in the South Pacific under her own name, but has since be renamed Starship (although in Season 9 Below Deck she is still using her original name). Throughout her seasons on the show, MY Seanna has cruised some of the world’s best superyacht destinations including Antigua and St Kitts. With her open air Jacuzzi, spacious beach club and adrenaline-pumping selection of water toys it’s no wonder she has been one of the show’s best-loved superyachts. Starship charters from $260,000/week.

Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck Sailing Yacht

Below Deck’s astounding popularity has seen spin-off series’ Below Deck Mediterranean (with the much-loved Captain Sandy at the helm) and Below Deck Sailing Yacht (with the laid-back Captain Glen) air simultaneously. With new cruising grounds and a whole new fleet of spectacular charter superyachts, fans can get their fix of the trials, tribulations and behind-the-scenes intrigue of their favourite superyacht crews.

An elite group of glamourous, party-loving super yacht brokers, ruthlessly competing to take home eye watering commissions on multi-million dollar vessels is the subject on a new reality TV show.

Charm and romance, together with and a good dose of bitching, backstabbing and drama combine in Hot Yachts: Miami, which starts this week on Paramount+.

Dubbed ' Selling Sunset meets Below Deck' the programme shows off the extreme wealth of the Florida billionaire's playground where everyone looks like a supermodel and tensions run so high that one yacht broker is moved to call a rival a prostitute.

Against a backdrop of swanky parties, sumptuous dinners and beachside penthouses, the brokers will stop at nothing as they compete to sell superyachts to the super-rich.

But they always want more – more money, more sex, more power – and their showdowns are often spectacular.

From left, Vika, Katya, Fotis, Kaile, Nick,Jack, Liliana and Juno. The brokers sell super yachts to billionaires

The stakes are incredibly high. One sale could make the brokers millionaires themselves thanks to commissions of up to ten per cent, and one deal organising a yacht's charter for $1 million (£775,000) a week could make them more than most people make in a year.

The eight-part series on Paramount+ introduces us to some memorable characters whose job it is to sell the super-rich their dream of sailing off into the sunset. At the centre of it are rivals Nick Cardoza and Katya Hall.

Charming and handsome, Nick calls himself 'Mr Yachts'. Forbes magazine called him 'The guy celebrities go to for yachts', and he likes to play as hard as he works – his hobbies seem to be partying and womanising.

By comparison, Siberian-born Katya is the ice queen; she's a top broker at international yacht agency IYC, her clients include Prince Albert of Monaco, and the boats she sells can go for £200 million.

Kaile, Vika and Katya are among the yacht brokers in Miami's cutthroat scene

Kaile, Vika and Katya are among the yacht brokers in Miami's cutthroat scene

Katya says she 'won't get out of bed for less than £10 million'.

She's added that she's rented boats out for £2.5million for 24 weeks for one client.

But having worked her way up the ladder, Katya is desperate to stay there. The one chink in her armour is her protégée Viktoriya Avramchuk, known as Vika. An impossibly leggy former model, like Katya she's an immigrant.

Born in Kyiv, she moved to Prague when she was 14 and then on to the US at 16.

Katya gave her the job as a favour to Vika's mother Zhanna, who's very good at getting her own way.

Vika's been with Katya for 18 months and is yet to make a sale – though she's very good at flirting with clients. When she turns her attention to Nick, however, Katya is furious and warns Vika that he may not be all he seems.

Liliana (pictured) made a huge success of working on the charter side of the yacht business, currently managing fifteen active yachts, with an annual charter sales revenue of around $16million

She says that the secret to success is understanding, to the core, what the client desires and needs and promptly meeting those needs.

Truly glamourous, she's neighbours in Miami with the Beckhams, and has been on Leonardo DiCaprio's yacht

Meanwhile, a third broker, Kaile, also has reason to be furious with both Vika and her mother. While she's showing two clients around some yachts, Vika swoops in and tries to steal one of them away.

Kaile isn't impressed to find a flirtatious Vika and Zhanna drinking champagne with her client, who seems to be revelling in having two brokers fighting over him.

Charming and handsome, Nick calls himself 'Mr Yachts'. Forbes magazine called him 'The guy celebrities go to for yachts'

Enjoying all this drama is Vika's camp colleague Fotis, who believes trying to steal a client from under a rival's nose is bad behaviour and is determined to bring Vika and Kaile together so he can watch the fur fly.

She is often referred to as the 'Queen of Super Yachts'.

The boats she sells can go for up to $100,000,000, with her client base including celebs and royals.

Katya is married to an attorney and tech founder and lives in a penthouse overlooking Fort Lauderdale beach, so she can keep an eye on the yachts coming in and out of the harbour.

She has a wardrobe to rival the Kardashians and a friends list that includes the cast of The Real Housewives!

Although she doesn't have her brokerage license yet, she is working under Katya as an associate, a position she managed to get due to her connections and personality (Katya knows Vika's mother also).

Vika's social circle is varied as she likes to befriend interesting people who lead colourful lives.

Sassy, beautiful and highly driven, Kaile has been in the yachting world for the last four years and has high ambitions to become the most successful female yacht broker in Florida.

Kaile is aware that she is still relatively new to the industry but she hustles hard and her work on the dock pays off.

Kaile makes a lot of her connections by word of mouth, social media and networking. This is where she has met most of her clients.

Kaile gets frustrated when clients go with a cheaper option and then are left disappointed. She tries to tell her clients that going cheap isn't always best.

Charming and handsome, Nick calls himself ¿Mr Yachts¿. Forbes magazine called him ¿The guy celebrities go to for yachts¿

Known as 'Mr Yachts' in the industry, a name he has trademarked for himself, Nick is both the most loved and hated yacht broker in Florida.

Everyone knows him. His larger-than-life personality, good looks and charm are in equal measure to his arrogance and desire to win.

Never one to turn down an opportunity to network or party hard, Nick is ready to go 24/7.

Forbes magazine cited Nick as 'THE guy celebrities go to for yachts'. Nick is currently an independent yacht broker and is planning to launch his own yacht booking app.

Fotis loves his job and is driven by success. He charters roughly 80 yachts a year, and the money he makes annually is enough to purchase a house AND a car

Fun loving and party going Fotis has been in yacht sales since 2007. Mainly chartering yachts, Fotis has experienced insane demands from the crazy rich but he enjoys being challenged and always delivers.

Fotis doesn’t shy away from confrontation and enjoys a gossip with his fellow yacht brokers, even if that means causing controversy.

Fotis loves his job and is driven by success. He charters roughly 80 yachts a year, and the money he makes annually is enough to purchase a house AND a car.

He has travelled the globe, either discovering new destinations or visiting his all-time favourite ones. For Fotis, every little corner of the world has a potential for chartering.

All his clients are wealthy and he finds that the best place to close a deal is on a night out, when potential clients loosen up.

He loves to close deals with a glass of champagne in his hand and generally remains friends with the fun clients, who then take him on trips on their newly purchased boats.

When Fotis closes a deal he often celebrates with his friends by going to a fun destination like Mykonos and ordering lots of delicious food and expensive alcohol. Fotis also often receives expensive gifts from his clients, which is a big perk of the job.

Fotis admits it’s a cut-throat industry, where brokers steal clients from each other.

However, he would never steal clients from Katya, who he’s good friends with. Together they love hanging out at boat shows and partying.

Real-estate agents are now TV stars as big as the homes they sell, according to 2 men who saw potential 20 years ago

  • TV producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato created "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles" almost 20 years ago.
  • It launched a genre of shows following the professional pressure and personal tensions of real-estate brokers' lives.
  • Bailey and Barbato break down the appeal of the genre as their latest show, "Owning Manhattan" with star broker Ryan Serhant premieres.

Insider Today

One Los Angeles real-estate agent might single-handedly be responsible for launching two decades of reality television.

In 1994, producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato landed in Los Angeles from New York City and needed a place to live. Friends recommended agent Debby Berg and they were immediately enamored. Berg had a larger-than-life personality, drove "an enormous gold Mercedes," and was so small she had to sit on the Yellow Pages phone book to see over the dashboard, Bailey and Barbato told Business Insider.

"Every time you got in her car, you were kind of taking your life in your own hands," said Bailey.

Together, the trio cruised around LA and Berg found them a four-bedroom Hollywood Hills home she described as "Brigadoon," the magical Scottish village from the 1954 movie.

But the process sparked an idea: Real-estate brokers might be stars who are just as big as the homes they sell.

Bailey and Barbato went on to produce "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles," which followed the lives of agents selling luxury properties in neighborhoods like Brentwood and Beverly Hills. By season 6 in 2013, episodes were averaging over 1 million viewers. As the years passed, agents like Tracy Tutor and the Altman brothers became nationally known personalities with massive social media followings.

Bravo launched spinoffs in New York, Miami, and San Francisco, and streaming giant Netflix made its own version with shows like " Selling Sunset ," " Selling the OC ," and " Buying Beverly Hills ."

Now Bailey and Barbato are launching another real estate show — "Owning Manhattan," premiering June 28 on Netflix — with one of their "Million Dollar Listing New York" stars: Ryan Serhant .

Serhant, now 39, leveraged his television career into a massive social media following, with over 2 million followers on Instagram. According to his website, he's closed $8 billion in sales to date and opened his own brokerage.

The pair also produce "RuPaul's Drag Race," which, over 16 seasons, has won 29 Primetime Emmys and minted dozens of drag superstars. They told Business Insider they believe in the star power of agents and say there are marked similarities between the worlds of drag and real estate.

"Brokers are kind of like drag queens," said Barbato. "They're self-made. They're putting on a show for you."

It's no mistake that many agents in Los Angeles and New York are former actors themselves, he added.

Once, the pair were touring Gore Vidal's Los Angeles home during an open house, and a dead rat appeared in the pool. Without missing a beat, they recalled, the agent told everyone attending it was a "sign of good luck."

Related stories

"That's a born entertainer," said Bailey.

Real estate was not an easy sell to TV executives at first

Early on, Bailey and Barbato said, real-estate agents were not obvious television gold.

They said the biggest obstacle was convincing network executives that among the details of dealmaking was a storyline audiences could follow.

Closure became a big obstacle. In real estate, deals fall through all the time, and interested parties back out at the last second. Agents could lose a client for any number of reasons, or a seller may decide to stay put after all. The producing pair has learned to trust the process and follow more storylines than might actually make the air.

"You have to be willing to follow a story that might not end how you want it to," said Barbato. For "Owning Manhattan," the duo said they filmed 20 different sales listings represented by Serhant and his fellow brokers, but only seven resulted in deals.

Audiences naturally want to peek behind the curtains to see how others live, and sometimes it's best to let the brokers work their magic and sell the home's fantasy, they said.

In the first episode of "Owning Manhattan," Serhant shows off a listing atop the world's tallest residence, the three-story penthouse at Central Park Tower, asking $195 million. Standing on the tallest terrace in New York City, he tells another agent that one billionaire who toured the space had a very specific question.

"If I put a ping-pong table here, would it be the tallest ping-ping table in the world?" Serhant recalled the billionaire asking.

The producers like to focus on the business drama

Though brokers' big personalities may make fascinating draws, the producers say they like to focus on business, not interpersonal conflicts.

"We're really interested in the transactional element, not leaning on soap," said Barbato.

In "Owning Manhattan," viewers get a firsthand glimpse of Serhant selling in real time as he attempts to close a deal for the tallest residence in the world.

"You're not just buying luxury, you're buying scale," he says in the first episode of the show, highlighting the windows he adds are among the largest single-pane pieces of glass in the world and emphasizing that the trophy property sits "higher than helicopters" and their usual flight path.

Serhant then brags about his "buydar," his ability to sniff out when a buyer is serious. Standing above the clouds, he points to another luxury building below, explaining to the agent that its penthouse just closed at $22,000 per square foot. With the Central Park Tower pad asking just $14,000 per square foot, it's practically a steal, he argues in the show.

Viewers will follow Serhant in "Owning Manhattan" as he attempts to make his namesake brokerage firm the No. 1 firm in New York. They're already "the greatest real estate brokerage in the history of the known universe," he says to the camera with a wink.

The audience will have to wait to find out if that's true.

When in doubt, the producers have learned to let the houses themselves tell the story.

"Inside these properties is a map of the human mind," Bailey said.

Disclosure: Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Business Insider's parent company, Axel Springer, is a Netflix board member.

Shelley Duvall, scream queen of ‘The Shining’ and a well-cast Olive Oyl, dies at 75

Shelley Duvall wasn’t a stranger to rejection. In the ’80s, television executives struggled to take the actor seriously as a producer when she pitched her idea to turn fairy tales into live-action shows. But she knew networks “needed me as much as I needed them,” and she made it happen anyway.

With the eventual green light from Showtime and an all-star roster featuring Robin Williams, Teri Garr, Jeff Bridges, Mick Jagger, Liza Minnelli and Vanessa Redgrave, Duvall’s “Faerie Tale Theatre” became a reality. Even more, it became part of Duvall’s Hollywood legacy — which at the time joined memorable performances in Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall,” Robert Altman’s “3 Women,” “Thieves Like Us” and “Popeye,” and Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining.”

“If I had listened to everyone who told me no, I’d never have gotten anything accomplished,” Duvall told The Times in 1991 . “When I really believe in something and someone says, ‘You can’t do it,’ it just spurs me on.”

Duvall, whose piercing scream famously punctuated the many horrors of “The Shining,” died Thursday morning. She was 75.

Shelley Duvall returns: ‘The Shining’ scream queen books first acting gig in 20 years

Actor Shelley Duvall, known for ‘The Shining,’ will make her acting comeback in ‘The Forest Hills.’ She last acted in 2002’s ‘Manna From Heaven.’

Oct. 28, 2022

Daniel Gilroy, Duvall’s longtime partner, confirmed that she died at her home in Blanco, Texas, of complications from diabetes. “She had been suffering a lot lately,” Gilroy said, and had lived several months in hospice care. “This was not unexpected.”

“I think of her as a bird in a way, and now she’s free to just fly away,” he said.

Just years before bringing the vibrant whimsy of “Faerie Tale Theatre” to the small screen, Duvall concerned herself with the chilling world of Kubrick’s 1980 film “The Shining.” She starred as Wendy Torrance, the docile wife of Jack Nicholson’s Jack Torrance. The film follows a college professor who travels with his family to spend a winter at the Overlook Hotel in the Rocky Mountains and write a book. The hotel’s haunted past turns an idyllic family retreat into a gory nightmare.

Jack Nicholson screams through a hole in the wall while Shelley Duvall cowers from an ax in a corner in "The Shining"

“Here’s Johnny!,” Nicholson’s Jack screams after he chops through a bathroom door. On the other side of the wall, Duvall cowers in a corner with a knife in her hand. The encounter easily made for one of the film’s most iconic moments.

“The Shining” continued to live on with Duvall far after the cameras cut. In 2021, Duvall told the Hollywood Reporter about the lasting trauma from her performance and Kubrick’s grueling approach to filming.

Exploitative or empowering? Dr. Phil’s interview with Shelley Duvall sparks controversy

On Wednesday afternoon, “The Dr.

Nov. 17, 2016

“To wake up on a Monday morning, so early, and realize that you had to cry all day because it was scheduled — I would just start crying,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “I’d be like, ‘Oh no, I can’t, I can’t.’ And yet I did it. I don’t know how I did it. Jack said that to me too. He said, ‘I don’t know how you do it.’”

Duvall had opened up about her career years after she made headlines for a concerning appearance on “Dr. Phil” in 2016. She told host Dr. Phil McGraw that she was being threatened by a man and suggested that her “Popeye” co-star Williams, who died in 2014 , was still alive. She also revealed that she was facing mental health issues.

After the interview, fans criticized McGraw for “showboating the visibly ill.”

Duvall retreated from Hollywood for decades after the turn of the 20th century, but returned to acting for the 2023 indie horror film “The Forest Hills.” Before that, she had last appeared in films “Manna From Heaven,” “Dreams in the Attic” and “Boltneck” in the early aughts.

She was born July 7, 1949, in Fort Worth and lived mostly in hotels for the first five years of her life while the family traveled with her father, who was working all over Texas for the state insurance board.

Duvall was the eldest of four children and “was practically a parent to my [three] brothers,” she told The Times in 1991. She wanted to pursue a career in science, then was “discovered” in Houston during a party where three crew members on Altman’s 1970 cop film “Brewster McCloud” were in attendance. “Brewster McCloud” became Duvall’s first acting job.

When I turned 18,” says actress/producer Shelley Duvall, “I felt I was grown up.

Dec. 15, 1991

“I thought, ‘Uh oh, a porno movie, my mom’s going to kill me!,’” Duvall told The Times.

After “Brewster” came ”McCabe and Mrs. Miller,” “Thieves Like Us,” “Nashville,” “Buffalo Bill and the Indians,” “Three Women” and “Popeye.” In his 1980 review for “Popeye,” The Times’ late film critic Charles Champlin praised Duvall for “her deliciously addled, uncoordinated, petulant but finally quite endearing Olive Oyl.”

Duvall’s additional film credits include “The Portrait of a Lady,” “Roxanne,” “Time Bandits” and Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” short film. Her TV acting career includes appearances in “The Hughleys,” “Wishbone,” “The Adventures of Shirley Holmes,” “Fraiser” and “Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle,” which she produced.

As a producer, Duvall also worked on “Tall Tales & Legends,” “Popples,” “Mother Goose Rock ‘n’ Rhyme” and “Shelley Duvall’s Bedtime Stories,” among others, according to IMDb.

Duvall married Bernard Sampson in 1970, but they divorced in 1974. She and singer Paul Simon shared a romantic relationship but broke things off before she began filming “The Shining.” She had been with Gilroy since the late 1980s, but the two never married.

The actor-producer was also a fashion icon — her “Faerie Tale Theatre” introduction recently inspired a TikTok sound that fashion enthusiast s have used to show off their outfits — and an animal lover who cared for multiple dogs and birds over the course of her life. Duvall celebrated her 75th birthday over the weekend.

“She had lots and lots of cards and letters and well wishes from all over the place,” Gilroy said Thursday, “but she’s been bedridden now for over a month, maybe six weeks or so. She’s not been happy lately, she’s been suffering, but we made her as comfortable as possible.”

Paramount Global Deal With Skydance ‘May Not Be Sufficient to Stabilize the Credit Profile,’ Moody’s Says

Skydance Media this week clinched a deal to merge with Paramount Global , and execs outlined a plan to cut costs and boost the combined company’s profitability in the years ahead.

But the turnaround plan might not be enough to save Paramount Global from seeing its debt rating cut to junk status by credit-rating agency Moody’s. In a note Tuesday, Moody’s placed Paramount’s debt rating on review for a downgrade, citing “the ongoing secular pressures on the company’s television networks and the slow pivot to reach direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming scale,” along with the announcement of Skydance-Paramount pact.

As part of the pact, Skydance and its financial backer, RedBird Capital, have pledged $1.5 billion in cash to help pay down Paramount’s debt. As of the end of March 2024, Paramount Global’s long-term debt stood at $14.6 billion.

“Moody’s believes that the company will endeavor to build on its own franchises as outlined in the Skydance Consortium new strategic plan,” the agency wrote. “But without much more avid [intellectual property] such as more evergreen franchises to build on or heavier investment by Paramount, we believe that the company may remain competitively disadvantaged. Therefore, either a new materially different strategy is needed or it is possible that the initial investment into the company by the Skydance consortium may not be sufficient to stabilize the credit profile.”

Speaking on a presentation for Paramount Global investors Monday, RedBird Capital partner Andy Gordon said the Skydance investor group expects the combined company “to be investment-grade by all rating agencies sometime in 2026.” The Skydance team expects debt-to-operating-income ratio to decline from approximately 4.3x for stand-alone Paramount Global (as of Q1 2024) to 2.4x by 2027.

In a note Tuesday, S&P Global said it is holding its rating on Paramount Global for now and that the merger with Skydance “doesn’t yet affect credit quality.” S&P now has a issuer credit rating on Paramount Global and its senior unsecured debt of of “BB+,” which is the highest “speculative grade” debt rating.

The agency said it view the Skydance-Paramount merger announcement “as positive” but that it will “continue to monitor the transaction.” The companies anticipate the deal closing by Sept. 30, 2025, and that 14-month window “presents a potential risk for the company as worsening secular industry pressures (and the potential for macroeconomic headwinds) could impede the company’s ability to achieve its strategic and financial targets,” S&P Global wrote.

All of Paramount Global’s debt is at a fixed rate and the company has no material near-term debt maturities coming due. The company also has an untapped $3.5 billion line of credit. Paramount paid down $1 billion of debt in Q4 2023.

In addition, this spring Paramount Global announced an agreement to sell its 13% stake in India’s Viacom18 for $517 million , and proceeds from that transaction are expected to go toward paying down debt. The company’s current trio of co-CEOs further have announced they are looking at different asset sales to help lower Paramount’s debt load. Those could include a sale of BET Media and L.A’s Paramount Pictures Lot.
