Legend Yacht Transport , a leading global yacht transport specialist announces its title sponsorship of the S97 2.5 stock hydroplane. Legend moved into powerboat sponsorship in September 2022 with its sponsorship of the U11 Unlimited Hydroplane at the San Diego Bayfair and since then has signed with the U11 for the 2013 Season and has been appointed as the Official Logistics Supplier to Class 1 Powerboats. The S97 will be driven by Grant Liddycoat who at 14 years old, was the youngest ever driver in APBA to achieve being APBA National Champion, Summer National Champion, North American Champion and Eastern Divisional champion in his two short years behind the wheel.

Dave Holley , CEO of Legend Yacht Transport , said “Having been a long-term supporter of Powerboat racing we had been looking to venture back into the sport as a sponsor. I’ve always been a believer that it’s just as important to focus on grass roots racing as well as boats running at the Pinnacle of the sport. Legend’s sponsorship is fitting given that Grant is following in his Father’s footsteps having won the UIM World Championship in Unlimited Hydroplanes along with multiple National Championships and as an inductee in the APBA Hall of Champions. The Liddycoat’s will partner with Lupton Motorsports for the 2023 season giving Grant the chance to be the youngest driver in the HRL series to pilot a 2.5 Stock.

About JS Yachts

John Swarbrick comes from a family of yacht builders, who, under his father, Harley Swarbrick’s management, Swarbrick Bros became the largest builder of production yachts in Australia . The company was known for building seaworthy yachts that are easy to sail short handed which is why so many of their yachts made records for single-handed sailing.

The company built the first yacht to be sailed single-handed twice round the world (skipper Jon Sanders) and single-handed round the world by the two youngest skippers (David Dicks and Jessie Martin).

Current Focus

John’s focus in the last few years has been to draw upon his 50 years experience across a wide design palette to develop a range of smaller dinghies that are accessible and fun for all.

His expertise has resulted in the development of the signatory JS Yachts dinghy designs that marry the highest technology and well-engineered and ergonomically designed boats that can be sailed single handed by all age groups and levels of ability. His unique timeless design is minimalistic in its intelligent use of interchangeable sail plan configurations.

John Swarbrick has been designing yachts since the age of 16. He lives in Albany, Western Australia, where he designs and tests his boats in Princess Royal Harbour and King George Sound.

John is notably known for his America’s Cup designs of the Kookaburra series, the Whitbread 60 series and his signatory design style seen in the JS‑9000.
