Burger Boat Company releases new photos of recently delivered Northland

American shipyard  Burger Boat Company  has released new images of the recently delivered 31.55 metre Northland .

Designed for long-range cruising and fishing, Northland  was delivered in November last year and almost immediately embarked on her maiden voyage.

She features both exterior styling and contemporary interiors by  Luiz de Basto . Accommodation is for eight guests split between an upper-deck master suite, two doubles and a twin cabin.

Built to ABS standards from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Northland  was designed to be a stylish and capable oceangoing  expedition yacht .

Speaking at her christening event, yard president and CEO Jim Ruffolo said: " Northland  is a prime example of Burger’s fine craftsmanship and dedication to working with our customers to build one-of-a-kind vessels. She is not only designed for the durability and range needed for a global expedition, but also for style and luxury.”

A historic launch, Northland was the first steel-hulled yacht to be built at Burger for more than 50 years. Key features include a  superyacht spa pool  on the upper deck and storage for two tenders on the foredeck.

The main deck is dedicated to entertaining, with the main saloon and bar area back aft, a formal dining area with seating for eight people amidships and a library in the bow.

Northland  is powered by a pair of 475hp Caterpillar C18 ACERT engines for a top speed of 12.4 knots and comfortable cruising at 12 knots. What's more, she will have a globetrotting range of 4,000 nautical miles when cruising at 9.5 knots, thanks to a total fuel capacity in excess of 44,000 litres.

Other new-build projects under development at the American yard include a new 14.63 metre aluminium yacht called the Burger 48 Cruiser, which features De Basto interiors and naval architecture by Dutch studio  Vripack .

The beauty of custom yachts is that an owner can have any design he or she wants. The American owner of 103-foot Northland , recently launched by Burger Boat in Wisconsin, wanted an expedition yacht that would travel in comfort anywhere in the world. But he also wanted to engage his passion, sport fishing from the stern.  “Typically, a yacht this size would have a garage and beach club at the back,” says Luiz de Basto , who designed both the exterior and interior of Northland . “Instead, we moved the tender to the foredeck and designed the transom around fishing.” The stern, in fact, has outriggers, bait wells, fish boxes, and even a fighting chair for battling big game fish like marlin or tuna. It looks like it could be on any offshore fishing battlewagon.

But Northland ’s forward section looks like a traditional explorer yacht, with a raised bow, high, protected bulwarks along the sides, and a raised pilothouse for excellent navigational visibility. Miami-based De Basto paid particular attention to comfort in Northland ’s design, creating an unusually large flybridge with a hardtop, Jacuzzi, outdoor eating areas, and bar.

“The interior is also very different than what you find on most superyachts,” he says. “The master suite is on the same deck as the raised pilothouse, leaving the main deck below free for a saloon, dining area, and a library in the forward section.” Private by day, the vast, full-beam library becomes a social area at night, transitioning into a surround-sound cinema .

Belowdecks are four guest staterooms, separated by a bulkhead from the crew quarters forward. “We made certain to keep the paths of the crew and guests very separate,” says De Basto. “The crew, for instance, enter the guest quarters via the laundry room. Everything has been designed to be luxurious and comfortable but also very functional.”

Northland is the first steel-hulled vessel Burger has built in nearly a half-century. The yard did a magnificent job with both the hull and interior fit and finish.  This Burger is powered by twin Caterpillar C18 ACRET diesel engines, reaching a top end of 12.4 knots. At 9.5 knots, its range extends to 4,000 nautical miles. Northland was built to ABS +A1 Yachting Service AMS classification.

Burger Boats has announced the launch of its first steel hull in over 50 years – the 32m/103ft motor yacht known as PROJECT 105, which was Christened NORTHLAND during the launch ceremony. Designed by Miami-based Luiz de Basto , who also completed the contemporary interiors, M/Y NORTHLAND incorporates the owner’s passion for fishing with an aft swim platform fitted with a full fishing station.

The layout contains a spacious aft main salon, a separate formal dining area and a forward library complete with a comfortable L-shaped sofa, armchairs and a coffee table on which to rest reading material. The main aft has a sheltered outdoor salon that connects to the large swim platform on the lower deck.

The upper deck is the location of the Owner’s suite, complete with walk-in wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. In the helm station, there is a sofa for guests complete with a table, for a tranquil indoor escape away from the main group. The upper deck aft is fitted with two sun loungers and a large alfresco dining space along the stern. The bow is spacious enough to store two large tenders, which are lowered into the water via a crane.

Up on the flybridge, guests can soak in the aft Jacuzzi and savour a drink from the nearby bar. There is also a collection of sunpads port of the Jacuzzi, and there is fitted forward seating designed for alfresco dining.

Using a pair of CAT C18 ACRET, 475 BHP engines, luxury yacht NORTHLAND has a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 12.4 knots. At 9.5 knots, she has a nautical range of 4,000 miles to ensure that the owner can spend as much time as possible among remote fishing spots.

Being built in steel also marked an important milestone for the yard as it was the first steel-hulled boat built by the yard in about 50 years. That definitely points Northland in the exploration direction. The interior layout for accommodations is for eight guests spread across four cabins. The master suite is on the aft part of the upper deck while the other cabins are on the lower deck. They consist of a twin berth and two doubles. Below is the fairly expansive master suite for the owner.

The interiors by Luiz de Basto suggest a contemporary style and flair. Browns, Creams and Tans are the order of the day throughout the interior from the guest communal spaces to the more private guest rooms. The crew space is located up front on the lower deck and consists of a crew lounge, crew cabin and captain's cabin both with their own bathroom space.

Powered by twin Caterpillar C18 main engines, she has a cruising range of approximately 4000 nautical miles at 9.5-knots which is very good for a 103-foot yacht. Top speed according to the builder is 12.5-knots from the pair of 475-horse power diesels. Luiz de Basto worked closely with the owner to create an ocean-going explorer yacht that would be able to access the world's hottest fishing spots. If you take a look at the transom of Northland you will see a specific area that was designed for fishing.

Being a luxury yacht that was built on an expedition platform the yacht is not only capable of longrange cruising but also supporting its own missions by storing two RIB tenders on the bow with a dedicated crane to facilitate loading and unloading of the tenders. The 31.5m explorer yacht named Northland has been delivered by the American Burger Boat Company.

The vessel is now underway on her delivery voyage, two weeks after the christening. She is designed for long-range cruising and fishing. Accommodation is for eight guests in four double cabins.

Northland was built from a steel hull and aluminum superstructure at the Manitowoc shipyard in Wisconsin.

Power is provided by two Caterpillar C18 ACERT diesel engines each delivering 475 hp that allow for a 4,000 nautical miles range when cruising at 9,5 knots. Maximum speed is 12.4 knots.
