ASCARI 1 (Ex Birgitta) was delivered in 2003 by Palmer Johnson, she is a PJ 120 design measuring 37m (121'5''). In 2016/17 the yacht underwent an extensive refit, her interiors are chic and inviting, while her exteriors and sporty and spacious. Accommodation on board is in 4 cabins, for up to charter 10 guests.

The interior décor is light and airy, from the generous salon to the sumptuous accommodation below decks. Upon entering the yacht, the salon and dining are laid to an open plan, with the dining aft, followed by a stylish salon lounge with ample seating and large ottoman. Further forward is a pop-up TV with full entertainment systems and popular wet bar. Space is surrounded by panoramic windows providing plenty of natural light by day. At night guests can enjoy a tranquil ambience for a relaxing experience, or make the most of the exceptional leisure facilities such as disco ball, state of the art sound system and laser lights, for a livelier atmosphere. Accommodation is on the lower deck, comprising a full beam master stateroom, 2 double cabins and 1 twin cabin. There are additional Pullman berths for 2 guests.

Ascari 1 Specifications

The exterior living is well-appointed, ideally suited to luxury charters. The aft deck is split level, with the first area offering alfresco dining, seating shade and direct access to the salon. A couple of steps down is a space with a raised sun pad and optional shade. Further aft is the extended swim platform and water toys garage. Side decks lead forward to a further 2 sunpad areas, one of which has a fold away cabana, for those who wish to relax out of the sun. Her upper flybridge is an exhilarating space to be when underway with speeds of 22 – 30 knots from her twin MTU 2285hp engines. This deck features opposing seating, cocktail tables and the yachts exterior helm station.

ASCARI 1’S hull is constructed of aluminium, while her superstructure is GRP. Her sleek lines and dark metallic paintwork are eye-catching and impressive. She is fitted with both at anchor and underway stabilizers, ensuring optimum comfort for her charter guests.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

Accommodation is on the lower deck in 4 en-suite cabins, for up to 10 guests. The master stateroom is forward and full beam of the yacht, with a double bed, full beam ensuite, sofa and study area. Two double cabins are amidships aft and mirror image of each other, with double beds. A twin cabin has side by side single beds and is located on the port side. There are an additional 2 Pullman beds for 2 guests.

Mega yacht ASCARI charter rates: The ASCARI's super yacht charter prices start from 90,000 Euros plus APA expenses in low season while high season rates are 105,000 Eur/week.   Daily rates in low season are 15,000 Eur while in high season they are 17,500 Eur (July and August). In some locations VAT can be charged on top and prices can be higher on special days such as NEW YEAR or during special events. Helicopters and submarine will be charged at their own special rates and will only be available if arranged in advance. Special offers, negotiated deals and last minute discounts are available on request. 

Luxury crewed motor yacht ASCARI is fully air conditioned throughout. This is a non-smoking vessel. ASCARI´s experienced super yacht charter crew of up to 5 crew including the captain, have a separate head and shower and companionway. Yacht Charter guests may not be allowed to bring pets on-board.

ASCARI is a (36.6m / 120’) luxury motor yacht built by Palmer Johnson and refitted in 2015. As a one of the best looking sports yachts on the charter market today, she will attract those keen on announcing their arrival or for private and intimate parties.  She is unique charter yacht in Spain and the Balearics accommodating up to 8 guests on board.

She will be normally cruising in the Balearics with her permanent port on Island of Ibiza, with ONE WAY charters between San Antonio and Formentera or Mallorca and Menorca or even Barcelona and Puerto Banus available on request. There are always at least 3 attentive super yacht crew members on board. Thanks to her twin MTU M90 super yacht engines, providing up to 2,285hp each, she can cruise at speeds of up to around 22kn. During best sea and wind conditions, maximum speeds of up to 30kn can be reached. Her best features are sublime exterior looks, very good cruising speed and professional crew of 5.

Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. Palmer Johnson motor yacht Ascari 1 sold

The 36.58 metre Palmer Johnson motor yacht Ascari 1 has been sold by Eric Castillo at Yacht Access, while Jose Arana at 1 Ocean Yachts represented the buyer. 

Built in aluminium and GRP by US yard Palmer Johnson , Ascari 1 was delivered in 2003 and had an extensive refit in 2016/2017. Naval architecture was designed in-house while Nuvolari Lenard penned her interior and the exterior with its aggressive, muscular lines.

She accommodates up to 10 guests in four suites, all located on the lower deck. The full beam master suite sits forward, boasting a study, a private lounge and his and hers en suite bathrooms with a steam room. All guest cabins have entertainment centres, television screens and en suite bathroom facilities while crew quarters sleep up to five members of staff.

The sundeck provides a comfortable space for guests to relax, with ample sunbeds and a lounge area. Below, the main deck aft features a large dining table for up to 12 people and lounge seating for five, with a large TV connected to the entertainment system. Shade is provided via a Bimini top. 

Moving inside, the main saloon features a large breakfast table and cocktail bar, with crew access to the galley located portside. Forward, plentiful chairs are found while various soft lighting configurations create a homely atmosphere.

Her top speed is 28 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 900 nautical miles at 22 knots courtesy of two 2,2850hp MTU 396 diesel engines.

The 36m/119ft motor yacht ASCARI is ready for her first charter season in Ibiza  following an extensive interior refit and is currently available throughout June.

Investigators around the world have been searching for sanctions-hit Russian oligarchs’ yachts. One has been hiding in plain sight.

Italian authorities in March impounded Russian coal and fertilisers magnate Andrey Melnichenko’s $600mn Sailing Yacht A after Russia invaded Ukraine. Another yacht, the $300mn Philippe Starck-designed Motor Yacht A, has been anchored for weeks in the port of Ras al-Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates.

By placing his yacht in the UAE, Melnichenko has put it beyond the reach of western governments enforcing sanctions on those deemed supportive of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.

Its presence is a symbolic reminder of the Gulf monarchy’s ambivalence towards western sanctions on Russia, allies of Putin and the wealthy businessmen who have often benefited from ties to the state.

While the UAE government is trying to enhance measures against money laundering to exit a global dirty-money watchdog’s watchlist, the economic foundation of cities such as Dubai has long been based on welcoming flows of assets and people.

“Given its non-enforcement of western sanctions, the dilemma for the UAE is how to sustain its place as an open destination for capital while also appearing to be a good global citizen,” said one compliance professional. “It’s a tricky balancing act.”

The government of the Isle of Man said it had in March deregistered Melnichenko’s yachts, including Motor Yacht A, because of western sanctions, saying, “we will continue to act with appropriate robustness should the situation warrant it”.

Marine locator services placed Motor Yacht A off the Maldives in March. The Financial Times then saw the yacht on April 18. On Saturday it remained moored opposite Ras al-Khaimah’s city-centre fish market.

Businessmen in the UAE say Melnichenko, who denies affiliations to the Kremlin, held meetings there in April, but the tycoon has since returned to Moscow. A representative of Melnichenko, who has been placed under sanctions by the EU and UK as well as Switzerland and Australia, referred questions on the yacht to a lawyer who declined to comment.

UAE authorities in Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah and Abu Dhabi declined to comment.

European officials say they have raised concerns with Emirati counterparts that the UAE could become a financial haven for Russians placed under western sanctions. “We don’t want our allies to become facilitators for the Putin regime,” said one.

The UAE government has said it is maintaining a neutral course through the war, calling for an end to hostilities and providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Abu Dhabi, which has developed closer ties with Moscow in recent years, has also assured its allies that sanctions-hit entities will not be able to operate in the UAE. The Gulf monarchy, which has long argued that it is not compelled to enforce other nations’ sanctions, is keen to maintain its historical role as an apolitical territory focused on business.

Thousands of wealthy, non-sanctions-hit Russians have relocated to the UAE to escape economic uncertainty and political instability at home, even though they sometimes struggle to access the financial system. “Big banks are more cautious but smaller banks are offering help to those wishing to relocate. It’s just taking a lot of time,” said a Russian businessman.

Very wealthy Russians generally find financial institutions accommodating. Most of the wealthy elite have second passports from countries that sell nationality, such as Malta or Portugal, which facilitates the opening of new accounts with lenders that are warier of Russian passport holders.

Others have turned to alternative routes, such as cryptocurrencies and hawala, or informal money exchange services. The cost of this service has risen from 1 per cent of the transaction value to 5 per cent since the war broke out as demand surges, said one person aware of the trades.

Many in the UAE see a hypocrisy in western concern over the presence of the yacht and the Russians building new lives there. “So it was OK for London to take all the oligarch money but not for Dubai?” asked one lawyer.
