Since the launch of the Leopard 45 in 2017, the exterior styling has evolved and we are excited to announce that we are now offering the innovative hardtop lounge on the Leopard 45. This lounge feature first launched on the award-winning Leopard 50 and like her big sister, the lounge on the Leopard 45 includes a seating area, a sunbed, and a table. Access to the lounge is provided by floating stairs leading up from the aft cockpit, without disrupting the helm station. The helm station remains well protected, and integrated into the cockpit and the rest of the boat.

At Leopard we favor a clear, natural flow. The Leopard 45’s increased area, ergonomically designed open plan saloon and galley, increased forward cockpit and more onboard area make her the ideal catamaran for guest entertaining as well as long-range cruising.

Onboard entertaining is accentuated with ample dining space, and forward facing L shaped seating communicating directly with the galley, situated forward. Wide sliding saloon doors afford panoramic views towards the stern, allowing the interior saloon to flow naturally towards the outside aft and forward cockpit.

The boat is flooded with natural light during the day and after sunset, illuminated by subtle hidden lighting, with individual spotlights to highlight certain areas.

The Leopard 45 has been overhauled with full wrap around panoramic windows, a saloon size overhead skylight and enlarged hull windows. The interior design is modern and simple with an elegant, light finish and grey accent panels. The increased volume of the saloon provides ample space for on-board entertaining.

The yacht is available with either a 3 or 4 cabin layout. The 3 cabin layout features two guest cabins in the port hull, both with en-suite heads and shower stalls. The entire starboard hull is dedicated to a spacious owner’s suite with a master cabin, study desk/ vanity and a private head with a large shower stall. In comparison to it’s predecessor, the volume below deck has been increased, making it open and unrestricted. The storage areas are plentiful and will accommodate your requirements whether it be hanging, drawers or under floor storage.

The boat is comfortable, private and well- ventilated from multiple points. The atmosphere is enhanced by natural light provided by the enlarge hull windows, portlights and deck flush hatches.

Designed for a modern, blue water lifestyle, the Leopard 45 features a raised helm station covered by a hardtop bimini, with direct access from the cockpit and side deck. All sailing lines lead to easily accessible winches, the primary winches being electric, and operated by footswitches.

The exterior styling has evolved into a sharper, more angular look, topped by a sleek new saloon hard top, which extends from the aft cockpit to the forward cockpit. Now For Sale: Leopard 45

The Leopard 45 catamaran made its North American debut in 2016 based on a design brief from the parent company of Sunsail, The Moorings and Leopard Catamarans—a parent company that, as you might imagine, buys a heck of a lot of boats each year. Naval architect Alex Simonis took that design brief and created what Cruising World ’s judges called the Best Charter Boat for 2017. It’s a model with great views inside and out, as well as improved performance and easier sail handling compared to previous models, our judges said.

All of which is why, when one of these Leopard 45 catamarans comes up on the market for sale, it’s usually worth a look. This one, a 2019 build that’s listed at an asking price of $469,000 with The Moorings Brokerage, is based in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

“CTAS 664 is looking in great shape,” the sales broker says. “She is just finishing her phaseout and is available for an immediate sale. This 2019  model has updated specs, which benefits a water maker and inverter over earlier models.”

The four-stateroom, five-head catamaran is equipped with a pair of Yanmar 4JH45 engines that each have about 1,400 hours of use.

Helm electronics are by Raymarine, including the depth sounder, plotter and VHF radio. Winches are by Lewmar, air conditioning is by Cruisair, and the watermaker is by Sea Recovery. The steering wheel is by Edson. Another well-known brand name for equipment on this boat is Jabsco, which made the electric toilets.

When Cruising World ’s judges got aboard an earlier hull of the Leopard 45, they said it scooted right along in 10 knots of breeze. “We saw 6.1 knots closehauled and 7.7 knots when we bore off to a reach,” they reported.

The helmsman steers from a raised platform to starboard in the cockpit. There’s a bench where a couple can sit comfortably, and a series of blocks and clutches mean all sail control lines are led to a pair of electric winches on the cabin top, just forward of the wheel. Working sails consist of a square-top main and a slightly overlapping genoa. “The Leopard version of the 45 that we sailed also carried a screecher set on a continuous-line furler tacked down on a sprit,” the Cruising World judges added.

What was the original price on the Leopard 45? Back in 2017, the asking price for a ready-to-go charter version of this boat was about $580,000 with options and toys.

I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Andrew came up with exactly what I wanted. He dealt with time delays, all my questions at odd hours, and was there for the survey. He reported honestly and professionally. After buying the yacht, I arrived at the boat on a Sunday night, after dark, after travelling from West Africa to the Caribbean, and found it was better than expected. He never pulled punches and made me aware of shortfalls. I expected to spend my one month leave working on the boat, but actually spent less than one week, and was able to spend 3 weeks sailing – wonderful bonus.

A new version of the Leopard 45 was introduced in 2017 and awarded “Boat of the Year” again by Cruising World Magazine in the Best Charter Catamaran category. The new Leopard 45 impressed judges by the amount of space provided by the forward cockpit, which is connected to the saloon through a translucent door.
