Excellent trip with Captain Randy. We did the sunset cruise which was excellent. We even saw several dolphins in the bay. Highly recommend as Captain Randy runs a professional and safe operation.

This was our first private sailboat ride in Orange Beach Al. And we had a blast! Captain Randy was great. Funny, informative, and very accommodating. There were six of us. Mema, gramps, mom, dad, and two teenagers. Captain Randy showed us some of the most valuable properties in Alabama. We were very happy with our sunset cruise. And we highly recommend This sailboat experience.

Great sunset cruise the other night. Randy is a fantastic captain and host. We booked the private sunset cruise for our anniversary. Our 1st try was rained out, but Randy was great at trying to accommodate and we made it at the end of the week. Thanks Randy. We will be back.

Would recommend anyone new to sailing to try the Orange Beach Sailing Charters. They provided good customer service up front and a better experience out on the water. My wife and I selected the 2 hour tour during the afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed being out on the water. Captain Randy was an excellent guide and offered much information about the area. Hope to get out there again in the future for a longer session.

Great experience. We took the sunset cruise. Private charter for 6 people. Hard pressed to find a better value. This was a relaxing cruise in the Gulf. Captain Randy is friendly, entertaining, and professional. So much better than riding in a boat with 60 strangers. Zero complaints. Couldn’t have been better.

Captain Randy was a delight to sail with. He was very knowledgeable and had lots of experience. We all felt extremely comfortable and safe in his hands. Our trip was mid-day and we had a bit of an un-sure weather pattern. But, Captain Randy still made our trip adventurous and fun!! We can't wait to sail with Captain Randy on our next trip.

We are a big boating family with two boats of our own. We had a last minute opportunity to head down to Orange Beach for a long weekend with no time to get the boats ready! Found this rental opportunity last minute and very pleased we did. Communication and customer service were amazing and the pontoon boat we rented for the whole day was in amazing condition! The experience was everything we hoped it would be! Highly recommend if you’re looking for something that is low key hassle free! We will definitely be coming back once the weather gets a bit warmer! What an amazing time we had. The boat was gassed up and ready to go in the water. The boat is brand new and Setup perfectly. We had 10 people on board and everyone had a place to sit. Bryce is a stand up guy and takes care of his customers. If you are looking for a half or full day rental I highly recommend Geaux Preaux. They will treat you right... Plus it's always nice to do buisness with a family owned buisness and not one of the big commercial rental companies..

There’s also paddle boats, canoes, sloops, schooners or sailboats, a hovercraft, or a gondola! It can also mean a noisy, fun jet ski or sleek and fast cigarette boat.

You could rent them all somewhere along the Gulf Coast (although maybe not the gondola) in your  next vacation . If you love to boat, or want to learn, or just want to sit around and let someone else do the work, it’s easy to do it here on the coast with these  boat rentals in Gulf Shores AL .

We rented the party barge pontoon with slide for the full day. The staff was super helpful and nice. They had an ice machine to fill our cooler. We spent the whole day exploring the bay and playing in the water. The kids and adults all loved it.

Jack Crevalle Fishing

In gulf shores & orange beach.

Many fish along the Alabama Gulf Coast will provide any angler with a great fight, but few will match the might of the Jack crevalle (otherwise known as a jack or a kingfish). While many people travel across the globe to fish for Giant Trevally (the larger cousin to the Jack crevalle), we are lucky enough to find their green and yellow cousins in our local inshore waters and along the beaches.

When & Where to Find Jack Crevalle on Alabama Beaches

Being that Jack crevalle is a migratory species, the timing of their arrival changes year-to-year, depending on air and water temperatures, but typically, the peak season for Jack crevalle is during the summer and fall months, peaking between August and October.

If you can, one of the best ways to target them is by boat or kayak . At sunrise, look for schools of baitfish like pogies or mullet and diving birds. A dead giveaway of a school of Jack crevalle is cannonball-sized blowups on the surface. Another great way to find them is to find a local shrimp boat pulling its catch. The schools of jacks will often hang behind these boats looking for an easy meal. 

Land-Based Jack Crevalle Fishing Tips

From land, you still have plenty of options to get on these hard-fighting fish. Some of the best surf fishing spots for Jack crevalle are near local passes or land cuts, such as Perdido Pass, Little Lagoon Pass, or Mobile Pass at the tip of the Fort Morgan peninsula. Walking these areas in the summer and fall can be very productive for Jack crevalle, and you may also fnd yourself hooking into other species like bull redfish , bluefish, Spanish mackerel , and many other species. 

Topwater Tactics for Jack Crevalle Strikes

Some of the most exciting hookups you can get from Jack crevalle come from topwater baits like poppers and chug baits. Nomad tackle and Halco poppers are great, but there are plenty of other valuable options for topwater baits — as long as the hooks hold up!

Beyond the Surface: Swimbaits & Paddle Tails

If the fish are not on the surface, another good option is to throw large swim baits or paddle tails. As they say, it’s best to match the hatch, so rig up your paddle tails around four or five inches and in bone or white color, but silver, gray, and chartreuse work well too. Other lures in that size range work well, too. However, be aware you may lose some baits to sharks and the teeth of the jacks. 

Gear Up for the Fight: Reels, Rods, & Responsible Releasing

When fighting these fish, it’s best to use 4500-6000 sized reel with a seven-and-a-half to nine-foot rod that is medium-heavy to heavy action from a boat or an eight-to-10 foot rod from the beach. The longer length allows for further casts, which is helpful from the beach but can be challenging to store in a boat. 

It’s essential to ensure you don’t fight the fish too long and give them plenty of time to revive in the water upon release, so they can swim off for the next fisherman to catch. And for less experienced anglers looking to snag a Jack crevalle, consider booking one of Alabama Beaches’ professional fishing charters .

If requested, the owner can provide a list of available captains for bareboat charter or the renter can use their own qualified captain. If the boat is being time chartered, the owner will provide the Captain.
