Krilo catamaran

Krilo ferry company , also called Kapetan Luka, is one of the largest fast ferry / catamaran operators in Croatia. The company’s  main port is Split port , from where it has catamaran lines to the hot spots on Croatian islands. The most popular routes from Krilo are Split to Hvar  and Dubrovnik to Hvar . In addition to scheduled fast ferries, Krilo also offers the possibility of chartering one of the fast ferries for special events.

The Krilo catamarans do not have a unified design , some are white while some are in darker color, but all of them have either   KRILO JET or www.krilo.hr clearly painted on the sites of the vessel. Therefore, you shouldn’t have a problem identifying the catamarans.

Krilo – Kapetan Luka FAQs

Krilo has sale points in each port, some are there own, others are travel agencies located at or near the port. Alternatively you can easily buy the ticket online .

We do recommend to print the tickets and have them with you when boarding. However, if you have tickets on your phone, showing the QR code / PDF of the tickets when boarding should be fine as well.

Krilo fast ferries have plenty of space to store the luggage, and the company is usually pretty flexible with it. You’re allowed to bring one bag up to 20kg in weight, but passengers usually didn’t have problems if they brought heavier bags on board.

Yes you can, but you will have to buy a ticket for yourself and bicycle online upfront as there are only a few places for bicycles on each departure.

Yes you can if you follow Krilo’s rules which are the following: Muzzle is needed for all animals. PETS can only be transported if they do not present danger or disturbance to passengers or boat. Owners take the risk of travel and are responsible for any damages. Dogs need to have a muzzle (except for a blind person’s guide dog) and lead on the apron, cats in boxes and birds in the cage. Dogs and cats must have proper vaccination documents. On the high speed lines, small pets are allowed in the catamaran salon. Small pets are transported exclusively in the bag for carriage and transport of pets (transporter soft bag) – maximum dimensions 45 x 35 x 25 cm. The bottom of the bag must be watertight. The total weight of the bag with a pet should not exceed 8 kg. The bag must be kept under the seat or in the wrist during the entire journey. One passenger must have only one bag with a pet. Large pets are only allowed if the technical conditions are met on board (special boxes). If you are in doubt regarding bringing a pet, you should contact Krilo by mail .

Yes Krilo is the name of a city, and the Krilo ferry company is from that city.

No, except for the line Split – Hvar – Korcula all lines operate only in the summer season, usually from the beginning of April till the end of October.

Can we take the 10 am from split to korcula, leave our bags somewhere safe at korcula port, spend four hours on korcula then take the 16.30 onto dubrovnik? do we have to buy two separate tickets or can we get one allowing for break of journey?

' src=

the 10 am departure that you’re referring to is the catamaran line from Split to Korcula, but it doesn’t continue to Dubrovnik. Also, there is no morning departure for this line until June. There are also two more catamaran lines from Split to Dubrovnik that stop in Korcula. They all start operating during April or May with morning departures from Split at 7:30 and 7:40 am and afternoon departures from Dubrovnik at 4:00 and 4:30 pm. Regarding the tickets, you always buy a ticket for a single journey, i.e. you buy two separate tickets, one for Split – Korcula, the other for Korcula – Dubrovnik. In the end, we suggest you check directly with the port in Korcula whether they have some kind of luggage storage service they provide.

Best regards, FerryCroatia Team

If I have a bad and also a backpack is that allright?

Sorry, I mean if I have a bag and a backpack is that all right?

bringing a bag and a backpack is fine and shouldn’t be a problem when boarding the catamaran.

Is ferry from Dubrovik to Makarska at 4 pm in operation? I am interested in the trip on 13.07. I cannot buy tickets on-line. Can I buy it directly in port? One person, no car. I will be grateful for the info 🙂 best greetings Ania

Tickets for a catamaran from Dubrovnik to Makarska are currently not available on our site. But you can book tickets directly on the website of Krilo company, or buy them directly in the port.

Hi, Ive bought a ticket from dubrovnik to split but now i want to change it and go to korcula. Is it possible to change it?

' src=

Hello Thomas,

Ticket changes and refunds are solved on an individual level. It is possible to get a refund / change the ticket, but additional fees may apply. We recommend contacting the carrier directly in this case, the contact number should be visible on your ticket.

Best regards,

Hi does the catamaran Kapetan Luka arrive to Hvar old town from Split? or there are other possible stop on the island of Hvar?

The ticket can be showed as e-ticket on my phone? i can’t print it.

Hello Marius,

Krilo Kapetan Luka catamarans only stop at one port on the island, and that is in Hvar town. You can show your ticket on your phone, you don’t have to print it.

' src=

Hello, from which dock in Split the ship to Dubrovnik departs?

the catamaran Split – Dubrovnik departs from St. Peter pier (Gat Sv Petra). At the beginning of the pier is Krilo – Kapetan Luka ticket stand.

' src=

Hello, does the catamaran arrive to Hvar from Pomena ( Korcula ) then from Hvar to Vis, Vis to Milna and Milna to Split. Thank you.

if referring to a catamaran line Pomena (Mljet) – Split operated by Krilo, then the catamaran stops at the following islands and ports along the way: – Korcula (Old Town) – Hvar Town (Hvar island) – Milna (Brac island) So, Pomena port is located on Mljet island, and the line does not travel to Vis island, unfortunately. Hope this is helpful.

' src=

We are going to be using the ferry service in August to travel from Dubrovnik – Korcula, Korcula – Hvar, Hvar – Brac and Brac – Split, stopping at least one night in each location. Please could you tell me the port names that each stop arrives at and the location on the islands, this will help in booking accommodation. Thank you in advance

no problem! So, here is the list of ports where you stop, from Dubrovnik to Split: 1. In Dubrovnik, the port is called Gruž and it is located about 3 km NW of Dubrovnik City Walls. 2. On Korcula island, the port is also called Korčula, it is located literally in Korčula Old Town. 3. On Hvar island, the port is also called Hvar, located in Hvar Old Town. 4. On Brac island, the port is called Bol, located in Bol (where the famous Zlatni Rat or Golden Horn beach is) 5. In Split, you arrive at the main port, right next to Old Town.

' src=

Hello, Say me please, where is the departure point by Krilo in Zadar: old town port or Gazenica port?

the departing point for Krilo line Zadar – Silba – Ilovik – Mali Lošinj – Susak – Unije – Pula is located across the Old Town, on Barkajol pier, right next to the marina. You can access the pier from Obala kneza Trpimira street.

Best, FerryCroatia Team

' src=

Just confirming this is still accurate: the catamaran from Zadar to Mali Losinj departs from the old port next to the marina, NOT the main ferry terminal south of town?

Hi Shannon,

yes. that is correct.

' src=

Thank you Maja

' src=

Can you confirm this is still correct. The Tourist info told us it was in the old town side.

according to our information, it departs from the pier on Obala kneza Trpimira. However, I suggest you double-check that, if the Tourist Info in Zadar gave you different information, it might be that there were some changes recently.

' src=

Could you please let me know from where the ferry left?

' src=

Hello, I’m trying to book a trip for a large group (12+) in May. Our Plane will arrive in Dubrovnik on May 17th Tuesday at 10:35 AM and I was wondering what would be the best option for us if we wanted to get to HVAR with out finding a private ferry

Hello Juan,

Unfortunately, the ferry route Dubrovnik to Hvar is not active before June. In case something changes in the schedule, we will update our page immediately.

' src=

Hello Maja,

Does the ferry go from Split to Mali Losinj in the beginning of June?

Thank you for the reply,

unfortunately, there is no ferry from Split to Mali Losinj.

' src=

Hi. Is it too early to buy a ticket for July 2022? Im trying but it keeps saying “error.” I just want to make sure I can get from Dubrovnik to Korcula. Im freaking out because I can’t even find busses that are even running from Zadar to Dubrovnik because of Covid. Im going to ferry out to Korcula from Dubrovnik then to Split. I already booked my rooms for both places and I have no idea how Im getting there!

Hello Anamarija,

Yes, you can buy tickets immediately, for both the bus and ferry route you’re looking for. For bus, just use the search form on our platform GetByBus . Ferry tickets from Korcula to Dubrovnik can be bought on our other platform called GetByFerry, here .

' src=

Hi, Is there a ferry from Hvar to Korcula that I can take a bicycle on in July?

Yes, there is, but you will have to buy a ticket for yourself and bicycle online upfront as there are only a few places for bicycles on each departure.

' src=

I have 2 questions: 1) My Kid is 2.5 years old, do i need to buy ticket for him? 2) Split-Bol, where is the location or stop of Catamaran in Split, how far it is from old town and how soon we have to reach to the catamaran before the departure?

1) Usually, children aged 0-3 travel for free, but I suggest you double-check that information with the company. 2) The catamaran departs from the main city port, the pier is located at the beginning of the port, you will see Krilo – Kapetan Luka stand. It is recommended to arrive about 30 minutes before the departure.

' src=

I booked a ticket from Dubrovnik to Split for May first (tomorrow ) but I réceived à ticket for today ! It’s the wrong date, can I change it and go tomorrow first May, my reference number : BW349425

for any changes regarding your ticket, send an email to [email protected] , our customer support team will respond as soon as possible.

Hi I booked a ticket from Dubrovnik to split for tmrw May 5th at 4:30 pm but where is the port? What time should I arrive the port by?

Thanks, Shan

the ferry departs from Gruž port in Dubrovnik, it is located about 3 km from the city walls. Anyway, it is recommended to arrive about 30 minutes before the departure.

' src=

Hi, We will be traveling for several weeks and will most likely have more than 1 bag for 1 of us. Can we pay to bring on an extra bag? Please advise. Thank you!

officially, you’re allowed to bring one bag up to 20kg in weight. However, passengers usually don’t have problems if they bring heavier bags on board. The company is pretty flexible regarding this and it all largely depends on the space left in the catamaran.

' src=

Where exactly is Kapetan Luka Ferry terminal located in Dubrovnik? I am going to Korcula and have 2hrs to make my connection from the airport. This is a fairly tight timeline considering that a flight might be a bit late. Do you know if airport shuttle stops close to the ferry terminal?

Hi Michael,

Krilo – Kapetan Luka ferry terminal is located in Gruž Port, the main port in Dubrovnik. Yes, the shuttle bus stops basically in the port, so you won’t have problems finding a terminal on foot. The ride from the airport to the port is around 30 minutes, so you should get there on time.

Best Ferry Croatia Team

' src=

What types of food or beverage can I buy on Krilo Kapetan Luka (traveling Dubrovnik to Split on 30 May 2022)? Should I bring food with me onto the ferry?

on the catamaran, you will find drinks and snacks only, so bringing your own food might be a better option.

' src=

Hello Maja, There are two selections possible at the same time from split to rogac. They differ in price. What is the difference?

if you were looking for departures by using our search form on the homepage, you’re probably looking at the departures of two different carriers. If that is not the case, I suggest you link us to the exact web address where you found these departures, so that we can check.

' src=

Hello, I wanted to check if the ferries/catamarans are running on schedule since covid? I will of course check with the individual carrier but broadly speaking? You’ve said above that only drinks and snacks are available on board – is there a bar or something to pass the time? Our journey is 3 hours. And last question, can we sit outside on board, or inside only?

so far, everything is back to normal. All the ferries and catamarans are operating according to the official schedules. Yes, there is a small bar on ferries which serves drinks and some snacks. And yes, ferries have outdoor seats, but catamarans usually don’t have much space outside but you can always go outside and find some spot if there’s no big crowd.

' src=

Hi there, we will be travelling from Hvar to Dubrovnik in mid August. Are there reduced ferry prices for my 7 year old? Also whereabouts in Dubrovnik will the ferry arrive at?

Kind regards Teresa

if travelling with Krilo, there is only one ticket price, there are no discounts for children. In Dubrovnik, the ferry arrives in Dubrovnik port (Gruž port).

' src=

Hi On your website it says “The Children 3-12 ticket can only be purchased at physical points of sale”. I will be traveling with to kids from Split to Korcula in July. If I buy the tickets online it is 450kr for the three of us. Do we get a discount for children if we buy the tickets at a physical point of sale” Kr Dana

you can book your tickets online as the price is the same in both cases. Just pick the desired date and departure.

' src=

I bought a ticket that was supposed to connect Bol (Brac) to Dubrovnik. I got an e-mail less than 48h before departure that this line was cancelled, which forced me to buy another ticket, from Milna (Brac) to Dubrovnik. Of course, I had to catch a taxi between Bol and Milna on the day of the trip, and I’m seeking compensation for this, as it is an additional expense caused by Krilo. We are not talking about €5 or 30kn. I think it’s very poor customer service to cancel a line less than 2 days before the event itself and expect that ‘everything will be fine’ by just issuing a refund.

Regards, Nuno

Hello Nuno,

We’re sorry you had to go through all that hassle. We agree that last-minute cancellations are not a good practice. The best you can do is contact the carrier’s customer support, and see if there’s anything that can be done on their side.

' src=

Hi I am Leaving Korcula to Dubrovnik with my family . We each have a luggage and carry on luggage . Is that ok to bring on board

Hello Elena,

Yes, you can bring your luggage on board.

' src=

Hi, I’m taking the ferry to Korcula tomorrow at 10. What time to we need to board the boat?

it is advisable to arrive at the ferry port at least 30 minutes before the departure. That is also the time when boarding starts.

' src=

I am catching the 10:10 ferry from Korcula to Dubrovnik tomorrow. Which port does the ferry leave from? I believe there is a wharf on the north side of the town and also one on the south side closer to the bus station. Thanks for your help 🙂

the Krilo catamaran from Korcula to Dubrovnik departs from the terminal in Korcula which is located northwest of car ferry port Domince (if looking at the map). So, not the one overlooking Badija island, but the one where the church of St. Mark is located.

' src=

Hello! I´ll be going from Split to Dubrovnik on September 6. When should I buy the tickets? Also, I saw there are a few stops before arriving to Dubrovnik, we just stay in the ferry right? Thank you!

Hello Tatiana,

We recommend buying the ticket as soon as possible, as September is still considered high season in Croatia. And yes, there are a few stops on your way to Dubrovnik, but you just stay on the ferry (it won’t be stopping for too long).

' src=

Hello We have a ferry booked from zadar to pula July 17 but have not been sent where it leave from in zadar… is it in the old town or the other side? Thanks in advance

Hello Steph,

Catamaran Zadar – Pula departs from the northern ferry terminal (there are 2 in Zadar). The one in question is located near the Marina Tankerkomerc, at the address Obala kneza Trpimira.

' src=

Hi there, we arrive at Zadar from Pula next week (arrive Zadar 11.45am). We need to connect to a ferry to Otok Iz at the Galženica ferry port. Please can you tell me how far between the different ferry terminals? Can you walk, or need taxi?

Thank you! Pepy

' src=

Hi Pepy, you would need to take a Taxi or an Uber.

' src=

Where is the larger baggage stored on board? Is it checked in separately or stored in the same area as passengers? (ie will I be able to access it during the trip?)

What is the check in time? There’s nothing on the website or the tickets unfortunately.

there are shelf racks for luggage, on most ferries they are at the rear end. If the departure if full the shelf racks might also be and people then leave luggage on the floor around the rack, but nevertheless you should be able to access your luggage during the trip (Its not in a locked space). I would recommend you to be at the peer at least 15-20 minutes before the scheduled departure time, if you travel from Split i would even say 30 minutes before, as it takes some time to locate the right ferry.

' src=

Hi, we are taking the 4pm ferry tomorrow from Dubrovnik to Spilt. Where does it leave from in Dubrovnik? Thanks!

Hi Marianne,

the ferry leaves from Gruž port (main port in Dubrovnik). The Krilo catamaran departs from exactly across the small cafe and a bus station.

' src=

Do I have to book in advance if I want to go from Split to Hvar on the first boat of the day (07:30am)? If so, how long in advance do you recommend?

generally, it is not necessary to book ferries in advance, only during the peak season in the summer to secure a place on the ferry. If you want to book the tickets in advance, you can do it the day or two before the departure.

' src=

How do we check for cancellations due to weather?

most ferry companies announce such information on their official websites (in the case of Krilo – on their Facebook page), so it is good to check it during the day of the departure (or even earlier).

' src=

is there a left luggage possibility if we arrive at the Dubrovnik Ferry port in the morning but only leave at 4pm?

according to our information, the luggage storage in Dubrovnik port is temporarily closed. However, we suggest you contact the port to double-check this information.

Best, Ferry Croatia

' src=

I am looking to use a car ferry to go from Orebic to Korcula, then form Vela Luka to Hvar, and on to Split. How can I search the schedule and cost online? Thanks.

for car ferry tickets, you will need to visit the carrier’s official website. There you can also see the schedule for the desired route. However, in the case of Krilo, there are no car ferries, only catamarans that operate on their routes.

' src=

We are staying in Dubrovnik this April and will be travelling on to Split. Is there a ferry or catamaran where we can visit an island on the way and leave our luggage on the boat? Also I have read that some boats you have to stay inside. Which type of boat can you go outside? Thanks

Hi Rebecca,

yes, there are catamarans connecting Split and Dubrovnik that stop on several islands along the way. You can take a look at the route Dubrovnik – Split for more details.

Regarding the luggage, it is not convenient to leave your luggage on the boat because the catamarans continue their journey to the next destination immediately, they do not wait on the islands. Anyway, it might be something you want to discuss with the carrier directly.

When it comes to staying inside, yes, on catamarans you are advised to stay inside. Firstly because there is not much outside space and it is mostly intended for the crew. Secondly, catamarans are faster boats so it is much safer to stay inside.

' src=

Is there a luggage storage area on the boat? How secure is my luggage if I move around in the boat or go up to the deck? Thank you.

on Krilo boats you can store your luggage in a designated space for luggage, so you can move around the boat freely.

' src=

Hello, I am travelling with Kapetan Luka from Split to Korcula, and from Hvar to Split. Am I correct in thinking that the Korcula stop is in Korcula Town, and in Hvar it is Hvar town?

Also, I am looking to go from Korcula town to Hvar town. Is this Kapetan Luka again, or does Jadrolinija do this as well?

yes, if travelling with that carrier, the stop in Korcula refers to Korcula town and the stop in Hvar refers to Hvar town. Also, the fast boat of the same carrier connects Korcula town and Hvar town on 2 of his routes. If you have any additional questions, let us know! Have a nice day!

' src=

Hello, I’m wondering if there is somewhere to park our rental car at the port while we take the ferry out to Hvar for a night? We are leaving from the Kapetan Luka port in Split next week. Thanks!

First of all, leaving your car in the Old Town (the port is 2-3 minutes from the old Town) is something we would not recommend because it can be very pricey. However, yes, there are several parking lots around where you can leave your car. The closest one is at the beginning of Riva. there are also a few on Bacvice beach, from where you would need to take a short walk (up to 5 minutes).

Hope this helps!

' src=

Hi, we’re on the evening ferry 15 May Split Hvar at 5.30pm with KL. Are there storage lockers at the port?p near where ship will dock? Which pier do we go to? Can see an image with a car ferry on map but not KL catamarans? Thanks

Hi Michelle,

the boarding pier for KL is the first pier when descending towards the ferry port. The dock is called Gat Sv Petra (St Peter pier). For luggage storage, you can ask at the ticket booth whether they provide such a service, but you can always use the luggage storage at the train and bus stations 2 minutes away.

' src=

Hi, we are looking to travel with family in august from split to Brac the. 3 days later Brac to Hvar then 4 days later Hvar to split.. some of the family can get pretty seasick… do any of these routes have ferry’s or catamarans with outdoor seating? If so which companies on each route please… thank you in advance

the general rule is that car ferries has outdoor seating, fast ferries / catamarans, do not. From Split to Supertar on Brac, you have a car ferry, from Brac island to Hvar, there is only catamaran, from Hvar back to Split, you can take care ferry from Stari Grad to Split.

Note: The water is normally quite calm during summer months, so to me traveling with the Catamaran, feels like a bus trip.

' src=

hi, how early to we need to be at the port for the KL ferries? thanks!

in high season it is good to be at the port cca 30 minutes before the departure. This way you can aim for the best seats in the catamaran 🙂

' src=

We have tickets on the 4pm Krilo catamaran to Korcula on October 1st. We shall be taking the express bus from the airport to Dubrovnik. Please could you tell me where the bus station in Dubrovnik is in relation to where the catamaran leaves from, please? Many thanks, Liz

luckily, the bus station in Dubrovnik is only about 5 minutes by foot from the ferry port. Just follow the road along the sea (Northwest direction), and you will notice it.

' src=

Hi ,I have a ticket from zadar to pula, 9/8/2023 16.00hs, I’m in the old town, from where your ferry leaves from?

Hi Fernando,

the ferry for Pula departs from a pier on Obala Kneza Trpimira (Knez Trpimir’s coast). It is a long pier located right across the old town. Try to enter these coordinates in Gmaps for help: 44.11922168543562, 15.22483369008532

' src=

Hello, we will be taking the ferry from Dubrovnik to Split in September. We will be taking the bus from Pile gate to the ferry port. Can you tell me which bus stop is closest to the ferry? Thank you, Allegra

the bus passes along the ferry port, so it is easy to spot it from the bus. A good thing is also to ask the driver to notify you when it’s time to get off.

' src=

Hello Im taking the split – korcula at 10:00 am next tuesday, at which ferry port should i take the ferry at Split? Thanks

Split only has one Ferry port which is where your ferry will depart, you will probably find your ferry at either berth 5-7 or 10-12, once you are at the port, just check the eletronic info boards, to see exactly where to board the boat

' src=

Hello, We are planning to travel from Split to Korkula on September 16th, after travelling on the overnight sleeper from Vienna which arrives in Split at 8.20 in the morning. Will this give us enough time to catch the 10.00 am catamaran? What time do we need to arrive at the ferry terminal? Is it advisible to book ahead online? And, does the catamaran sail to Korcula town? Thank you.

' src=

you will have enough time to catch the 10:00 AM catamaran. The ferry terminal is a short walk from the train station, but I recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your departure. I would definitely book the tickets online in advance. The catamaran docks at Korčula Town.

What yacht charter are you looking for?

Croatia yacht charter.

Croatia has undergone a remarkable transformation into a luxury yacht charter destination over the last decade. With infrastructure accommodating larger yachts, competitive pricing, and a plethora of islands in close proximity, it offers a compelling alternative to destinations like Greece. Croatia’s favorable legislation allows for larger groups on charters, a rarity within the EU. Contact us to explore Croatia’s charms and discover the perfect yacht for your next adventure.

WHY CHOOSE A YACHT CHARTER IN CROATIA?

Hvar Marina, Croatia

Emerging Luxury Charter Destination

Over the last decade, we have seen Croatia completely transform from a post-Communist bareboat destination to a premier luxury yacht charter location .

This transformation has been fueled by significant investments in infrastructure, services, and amenities tailored to the needs of luxury yacht charterers. We now have a Croatian coast full of  luxury marinas offering berthing for large vessels, as well as other facilities directed at the luxury charter industry.

Cheaper & Less Crowded

One of our biggest emphases on Croatia yacht charters is that it is both cheaper and less crowded compared to other popular yachting destinations in the Mediterranean. While we are seeing prices of luxury motor yachts and catamarans slowly climbing, Croatia still maintains a notable price difference of 15%-25% in most niches, compared to other destinations.

Additionally, we highlight the country’s lower VAT rates on charters, set at just 13% for weekly charters, contribute to its cost-effectiveness.

Allowing Charter Groups of 12-25 Guests

Croatia’s legislation is uniquely accommodating to larger groups, allowing us to offer luxury yacht charters and Gulets with 12-25 guests —a rarity within the European Union. The only other destination that allows for group charters of this size is Turkey.

This flexibility opens up opportunities for larger gatherings, whether it be extended family vacations, corporate retreats, or special celebrations, all within the picturesque backdrop of Croatia’s cruising ground.

Croatia,

Over 1000 Islands & many UNESCO Sites

With over 1000 islands and a magnificent coastline packed with historical towns, there is no shortage of wonderful anchorages to be explored. Croatia offers opportunities for a wide range of itineraries suiting all kinds of charter vacations whether it be with family, a partner, or a group of friends.

The country is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites , including iconic landmarks such as Dubrovnik’s Old Town, Diocletian’s Palace in Split, and the historic city of Trogir.

TYPES OF YACHT Charters in Croatia

The following are the main categories of yachts available for charter in Croatia: luxury yachts, motor yachts, power catamarans, sailing yachts, and more. You can choose from various crewed yacht charter options within these categories. All yacht charters are customizable in terms of charter itineraries, onboard services, and activities, to suit the preferences of each client.

Luxury Yachts

WHAT TYPE OF CHARTER YACHT SHOULD I GET?

For those opting for ultimate luxury and speed , we always recommend chartering a Motor Yacht in Croatia. The Dalmatian Coast is home to Croatia’s largest marina, accommodating large motor yachts and super yachts with ease. Docking at Dalmacija Marina among many of Croatia’s finest Yachts, is a remarkable experience in itself.

The Motor Yachts in our catalogs are typically locally owned , and often captained by the owner himself or the owner’s son. This is a huge benefit guaranteeing a top charter experience based on extensive experience and local knowledge . When you book your Motor Yacht Charter with us, you can be sure that you are in the best hands.

There are several reasons for catamarans’ growing popularity in Croatia, one of which is their benefits in comfortable cruising. Catamarans are stable and graceful on the water and we therefore often recommend them for people who suffer from seasickness .

Their efficient design makes them noticeably faster than most sailing monohulls and their shallow draft is a significant advantage allowing for navigating in shallow waters and the option to anchor much closer to the beach. Lastly, catamarans are great for their roomy living quarters making them ideal for corporate team-building events, family charters, or a summer vacation with a group of friends.

Regarding weather and sailing conditions, the summer months of June to September offer warm temperatures and calm seas, providing optimal sailing conditions. This period is considered the high season, offering vibrant coastal festivities and a bustling atmosphere. If you prefer a quieter experience, the shoulder seasons of May and October are ideal. During these months, you can enjoy pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and more affordable prices. However, it's important to note that certain amenities and services may have reduced availability during the low season.

Testimonials, what our clients say.

Thank you very much for your great support, we experienced a wonderful holiday in Croatia!

Best Harbors in Croatia – 9 Great Spots to Anchor

Trogir town in Croatia

Croatia is a beautiful country dotted with incredible nature, fascinating history, and endless of fantastic islands. Most of them have harbors where you can anchor or moor your vessel. Some of them are located near towns, from where you can access basic amenities with ease. For some, you might have to make a journey to the nearest town to access those services. In most harbors, there will be harbor masters and their staff who will help you secure your boat, thus easing the load for you. Here are brief descriptions of some of the best harbors in Croatia

Table of Contents

1. Vela Luka Town

This is one of the liveliest towns in Croatia. The harbor is located at the Western end of Otok Korcula, and the Eastern end of the Zaljer Vela Luka. The harbor has lovely ambiance, the front is lit up in red, the rear in white and there is also a green light that marks the Western end of the wall. The harbor is extremely popular, but there aren’t as many moorings to cater for the great demand. Currently, the Harbor has only several places for mooring along the wall. To secure a place for your vessel, be sure to get there by early lunch time, otherwise, you might have to forgo the berth. However, the harbor has some of the best moorings in West Korcula. At the moment there are few mooring buoys, although there are plans to add more. If you do not manage to secure a place on the wall, you can still anchor your boat at the nearby bay.

2. Veli Dervnik

This is a relatively small island off the Tigora shore. However, it has a large harbor with a wall that can hold about twenty boats. By 2008, you had to drop an anchor back to the wall to secure your boat, but currently, there are lazy lines that have been laid out. The island is scenic, and the harbor is peaceful, although several restaurants and bars dot its neighborhood. You can take walks around the island to see in all its beauty. There is also a small shop within the vicinity which is well stocked. Additionally, there is a ferry dock where you can have your vessel serviced twice a day. If you opt to go, Southern, take a line ashore for good measure, as the harbor isn’t the most secure. There is a rumor about developing the wall into a marina, but that remains to be done yet.

3. Otok Mljet, Okuklje: Harbor Baro

This particular harbor is located on the eastern end of Otok Mljet. It has several mooring spaces with great shelter plus several eateries along the shore. In fact, the moorings were recently restored so that sailors can anchor their boats more safely and securely. The Harbor Baro is located at the back of the bay, where you can get full service, plus the assurance of water and electricity.

4. Korcula Town

In as far as the popularity of harbors goes, Korcula town is one of the most famous ones. The town is situated on the Northern shore of Otok Korcula. It is a popular tourist destination, the marina, as well as the harbor, are known as Town Quay and the ACI Marina. Usually, boats drop anchor and then reverse onto the wall for mooring. You should always steer clear of the Northern part of the marina as it is reserved for boats and ferries. The quay is extremely close to the town and can be accessed throughout the year. Swells occasionally happen at the harbor and can make mooring a difficult task. In this city, water is a guarantee, but not power. You can, however, access basic services from the city which has health centers, fuel stations, post offices, and banks.

5. Komiza, Vis

Komiza is a charming town that serves as a fishing port. The harbor is situated at the back of the famous Zaljer Komiza amphitheater. This harbor is very attractive as it has some of the best moorings and several restaurants, but it gets usually crowded during the day.  The staff at the Harbor office are particularly useful but be aware that operations at that office are managed on a cash-only basis.

6. Zaklopotica, Lastovo

This is one of the most beautiful harbors at sunset; it is a sight to behold. It is a peaceful place that is located in the remote Lastovo Island, which is about three kilometers from the town. The harbor, which is an all- year round shelter, has few entrances and few pontoons, along with some good restaurants that provide free mooring as you eat there. Water and electricity will be availed to you upon request. Space is quite restricted to anchor as the mooring area only holds up to 20 boats, and there may not be a place left if you don’t arrive in time.

Zaplopotica Harbor in Croatia

7. Trogir, Town Harbor

This harbor is located on the Southern side of the old town of Trogir, North of the Trogir Channel shore. It is advisable to moor on the Eastern end of the wall as the Western end is usually reserved for ferries and water taxis. In fact, the wall is a reserve for the big boats; small ones are usually redirected to the nearby marina. On Friday and Saturday nights, the wall is saved for gullets. All amenities can be found in the town from health facilities to bank machines, to cranes and even vet offices.

8. Vis Town, Viska Luka

The harbor is located on the western side of the Viska Luka Bay and has lazy lines laid down. The staff at the Harbor are helpful with the mooring, and there are water and power as well. However,  be aware that swells occasionally occur at this harbor, which is simply not the best when it comes to protection, but the town has an active nightlife. Viska Luka Bay is relatively large, with several supermarkets, a post office, health facilities, banks and ferries.

This is probably the most popular harbor in Croatia. You will find all types of yachts moored here. Wall moorings are limited, as some location are reserved for gullets and the ferry that plies that route. The moorings have lazy lines with power and water, and you will get plenty of mooring help from the many harbor masters at the harbor. If you don’t get mooring space, you can always anchor your boat as there is a lot of anchoring area. If you have a hard time to find a place, go to the nearby ACI Palmizana harbor, it is less crowded there.

Hvar town in Croatia

Croatia has some of the best harbors in the Mediterranean. In most of them, you will get plenty of mooring help as well as great restaurants to meet all your needs. All in all, the harbors in Croatia are simply amazing.

Wow these pictures of Croatia look amazing! I have never thought of traveling there before now. With these harbors, do you need your own boat? Or are their charters?

The scenery in these harbors really is breath taking. What is the best time of year to go to these towns?

Thank you for the kind comment, I really appreciate:)

You don’t need to own a boat to sail to Croatia. You can simply rent a yacht. If you don’t have any sailing experience, you have the option to hire a skipper. He will take care of the navigation, and he will bring you to beautiful places.

The season starts in May and ends in September. But the best months are in May and June. The weather is extremely pleasant with light winds, and the crowds have not arrived yet. The high season is in July and August. It is very hot, and the places are crowded. September is a fantastic time to sail in Croatia, but the Bora and the Sirocco winds can blow in some areas. Hopefully, it does not happen everywhere, and if you are accompanied by a skipper, there is nothing to worry about as they generally know well the regions and the sea:)

I hope it helped and if you need more info, don’t hesitate to contact me, I’ll be glad to assist!

Have a wonderful day!

I don’t sail a boat or anything but these harbors seem idyllic. I’m thinking of visiting Croatia next year and think that including some of these harbors will be a great way to explore Croatia especially since some of them have great restaurants and nightlife around. The port that appeals to me the most is Zaklopotica since i’m interested in photographing it. Do you know if any of these ports offer day sailing to visitors?

Hi Celeste,

Indeed Zaklopotica is a beautiful harbor. I am sure you’ll get fantastic pictures of this place!

What’s great about Croatia is that the food is diverse and vary according to the area, which is interesting. You never get bored there:)

Croatia is filled with great restaurants, and the nightlife is very active in some regions, especially in the summer:)

The period of a yacht charter is a minimum of 7 days. If you want a day trip, you better go to the big towns like Dubrovnik, Trogir, Split, Zagreb, and much more. There are plenty of marinas and charter companies in Croatia, so it won’t be difficult to find a yacht for the day:)

If you need more information, feel free to contact me at any time, I’ll be glad to help!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a lovely day.

Some great Croatian harbour towns for sure but hard to believe you left Rovinj off the list. It blows away all of your picks IMO.

Hi Greg, You are absolutely right. Rovinj is a beautiful harbor too. I’ll make sure to add it to my list for the next update:) Thank you for your useful comment, and I wish you a lovely day.

Luka Silba Marina

Luka Silba Marina

Located in the serene and picturesque island of Silba, within the beautiful country of Croatia , Luka Silba Marina offers a unique and charming destination for sailors and yachting enthusiasts exploring the Adriatic Sea.

Luka Silba Marina is situated in Silba, a tranquil island renowned for its untouched natural beauty and laid-back lifestyle. Silba is strategically nestled between two ports: Port Ali (Luka Ali) on the west coast and Luka Silba Marina. This positioning provides sailors with an accessible gateway to the island’s enchanting landscapes and serene environment.

Approach to the Marina

Approaching Luka Silba Marina requires careful navigation, especially considering the marina’s susceptibility to powerful north and north-easterly winds, which can create large waves making the berths unusable. It is advisable to approach the marina from the front, as the harbor is shallow and mooring ass in is not recommended. The marina is well-protected except from the northeast direction, where the Bora winds can pose a challenge.

Specifications of the Marina

Luka Silba Marina is a quaint harbor with about 20 berths, accommodating boats with a maximum length of less than 30 meters. Despite its small size, the marina provides essential services to its visitors, including electricity at all berths. However, it’s important to note that water services are not available. The marina charges around 40€ for a 33 feet sailboat, offering a cozy and minimalistic experience for sailors. Mooring buoys outside the port have been removed, but many boats spend the night at anchor on the sandy bottom by 7 meters outside the port for additional convenience.

Infrastructure, Services, and Facilities

Luka Silba Marina, although minimalistic in its offerings, ensures that visitors have access to electricity. The absence of water services encourages sailors to plan accordingly. The marina’s infrastructure caters to the basic needs of sailors, focusing on providing a safe and secure mooring space.

Amenities in the Marina and Nearby

The island of Silba is a gem that offers more than just a marina. With nice restaurants and shopping options, visitors can enjoy local cuisine and find essentials within close proximity. Although the marina itself offers limited amenities, the charm of Silba island compensates with its natural beauty and welcoming community.

How to Get There

Visitors can fly into Croatia’s major airports and then take a ferry or a private boat to Silba. The island’s seclusion adds to its allure, making the journey a significant part of the experience.

Beyond the tranquil Luka Silba Marina, the island itself is a treasure trove of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and serene beach spots. Here’s a closer look at the attractions nearby that visitors can explore:

Pristine Beaches

Silba is renowned for its beautiful, unspoiled beaches. The crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing. One of the island’s most famous beaches is Šotorišće, located on the southeastern side of the island, known for its wide, sandy beach and shallow waters, making it ideal for families.

Walking and Hiking Trails

The island is car-free, which makes it a haven for walking and hiking enthusiasts. There are numerous trails crisscrossing the island, offering scenic views of the Adriatic Sea, olive groves, and local flora. These trails are a great way to explore the island at your own pace and connect with its natural beauty.

A unique attraction on the island is the Toreta, a tower with a spiral staircase, located near the center of Silba. It was built in the 19th century as a symbol of love and remains a popular spot for visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the island and its surroundings.

Church of St. Mary

The Church of St. Mary is an important cultural landmark on Silba. This historic church hosts several religious ceremonies and festivals throughout the year, reflecting the island’s rich cultural heritage and providing visitors with a glimpse into the local traditions.

Local Gastronomy

Exploring Silba’s culinary scene is a must. The island’s restaurants and taverns offer a variety of local dishes, emphasizing fresh seafood, olive oil, and Mediterranean herbs. Dining here not only satisfies the palate but also offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere that embodies the island’s hospitality.

Luka Silba Marina

The marina has 30 berths with moorings laid between the breakwater and the eastern side of the berths. The water depth at the breakwaters ranges from 1.7 m to 3.5 m. Water and electricity are available at all berths in the eastern part of Silba Harbor, both at the breakwater and at the pier. Despite the fact that water is included in the price of the pier, try to use it sparingly, since there is often not enough water on the island.

Occupying an irregular shaped bay in the western part of the island, Vela Luka is the island's main port for car ferries in Split and Lastovo. Founded by the inhabitants of Blato for the export of wine and oil, Vela Luka does not have an old medieval appearance, like the city of Korcula, but a number of its 19th-century houses with sea views, bordering palm trees and lawns, are as beautiful as any houses in Dalmatia . As in Blato, the streets of Vela Luka have no names, but are instead numbered.

Where to go in Vela Luka

Museum collections of the cultural center Vela Luka

In this joint archaeological collection and art museum there are finds from the neighboring Vela Spila, inhabited in the Neolithic era. Summer art exhibitions often exhibit sophisticated works by contemporary Croatian artists.

At the end of a winding road that runs through groves north-east of Vela Luka, Hum Hill is crowned by the abandoned Habsburg Fortress. It is not difficult to understand why they fortified this place. It offers breathtaking views of the sea approaches to Vela Luka, with the island of Lastovo in the south and the long gray island of Hvar in the north.

Among the olive groves above the city is hidden Vela Spila ("The Great Cave"), a gaping limestone hollow with access to the sea and two large openings on the roof, creating an eerie atmospheric play of light. Inhabited since the Stone Age, the cave is the earliest known dwelling of modern people on the Adriatic and is a major center for archaeological research . Coordinated by a local museum and an international team led by the University of Cambridge. Fragments of ceramic cult objects found here in recent years have caused a sensation in archaeological circles - they are supposedly about 17,500 years old, they are believed to be the earliest examples of clay craftsmanship in Europe. Visitors can peer into the excavation trenches and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of discovery in the style of Indiana Jones, although there are no museum exhibits in the cave. A dumb brown stone marks the spot where Stanko was discovered a decade ago, a skeleton 9,000 years old (one of the oldest human skeletons excavated on the Mediterranean coast). Vela Spila is a five-minute walk from the Vela Luka promenade.

Restaurant Konoba Mate

This popular family-run establishment is located near the main road of Korcula-Vela Luka in the village of Pupnat on a hillside. The ingredients are grown locally . So, Pršut ham is cooked in a smokehouse on the terraces; pastes (such as goat cheese ravioli) are rolled out by hand and dried in the sun, and lamb and pork are cooked under a lid of the pitch.

Restaurant Konoba Bata

If you are not a foreigner and not a fan of Dalmatian cuisine, then forget about the menu and arrange with the waiter. Before tourism, Vela Luka lived on fish, wine and olive oil, so his kitchen hides delicious secrets that are worth discovering. A pair of Veloluski, a type of brodetto, would be a good choice, but if you want to take no risks and try everything that the sea has to offer, then choose a dish of Bata fish.

Luka Krajančić: Poetry of Wine

yacht luka kroatien

Every bottle of wine Luka Krajančić makes is light – but not because it’s deprived of tradition – brimming with clear aromas and flavors of the Black island famous for its white wine

Any wine connoisseur, will immediately connect the name Luka Krajančić with surreal good Pošip wine (like Intrada), but the few true masters will tell you he has fought his way onto the stage with sur-lie wines, putting a new spin on the island he comes from, the grape and his skills. Every bottle of wine Luka Krajančić makes feels light – but not because it’s deprived of tradition – and brimms with clear aromas and flavors of the Black island famous for white wine, as he likes to say. Luka is talented in more ways than one.

His labels are a work of art, with images carefully selected to represent local milestones and icons – the very serious Statut, the very stylish Opera and Moro, but they can also be playful and light like the wine Ježina and Rose. His poetry is a gift he is ready to share with everyone with an appreciative ear. We visited this dedicated poet of wine in his home/tasting room in Zavalatica, where gazing towards the blue and the neighboring island of Mljet we tasted his orange Pošip Opera, Moro and a future Plavac, and had the privilege of discovering the secret of Korčula vines through his eyes. Krajančić winery brings joy to all wine lovers with every new season, and has been since opening in 1993.

Krajančić family has been making Pošip for centuries before that. What does winemaking mean to you? My job is my family tradition. My family name is already mentioned in the Venetian census in 1538, and already then we were olive-oil producers and winemakers. I remember the day when my grandpa lifted me into a barrel when I was six years old and told me, son, you’re old enough to stomp grape. That was my initiation into winemaking. For me, wine is not an existential need, it’s a philosophy. And our family philosophy is all about positive energy. If we can make something, if we can create a wine, we like and present it to wine lovers, we’ve succeeded in our mission. Wine is deeply ingrained into our way of life here on the island – we’re born into that culture, we celebrate life enjoying wine.

How much does the island mean to you – the scenery, the specific stone walls around the vineyards, the cascading terrain of the hills where grapes are grown? When you reach a certain age, you realize you need something to define you, but on an island, your choices are limited. Wherever you look, it’s just olives, grapes, stone and the sea. On Korčula, we almost exclusively grow Pošip, our local variety created naturally from two other local varieties, Bratkovina and Zlatarica. The villages of Čara and Smokvica were isolated by chance, when grape phylloxera devastated the grapes – before the epidemic, the island was all under grape, but later, the plants were transfered to valleys for easier processing. It never ceases to amaze me where grapes like to grow: ‘Pavlja luka’ and ‘Žrnovska defora’ on the south side of the island surely are among the most extreme grape-growing locations in the world. There is but one vineyard left there, high in the hills. The village of Račišće is another extreme spot; an unbelievable combination of dry stone walls, hundreds of tones of stone upon which around three hundred plants grow. The climb up there to the top of that vineyard makes you feel like Zeus climbing to Olympus.

Decanter lists Nerica Pošip made by your cousin Jakša Krajančić won the golden medal in 2018. Have winemakers from island set goals higher? Any world award is an achievement, and local wines have won several. First and foremost, Branko Cebalo, winemaker extraordinaire who set out to make wine before any of us ever did, won IWC gold for his Grk wine in 2019 – and that story went under the radar. Generally speaking, we are an industry of individuals, but as our story continues, I believe we’ll come together. New generations of winemakers are already co-operating, helping each other with progress in mind. Success and awards will flow organically from this trend.

What was it that initially attracted you to the sur-lie method for which Krajančić wines are famous for? I got the idea for sur-lie just like I got the idea for all my wines. I answered the most important question in the history of our civilization: why not? Back in 2006, I left some sediment in wooden barrels and presented first sur-lie wines – they were almost extremely negatively received, but that only made me want to do better next time. We skipped the process the following year due to drought, but in 2010 we won gold for our Pošip Sur-Lie 2009. It was the first dry white wine to even be given that particular award. After that, many other winemakers have started experimenting with wooden barrels.

I have tasted your macerate wine (48 days) which is extreme. How do you draw that line of good taste? Macerated wine is all about instincts. There’s a very personal relationship between the maker and such wine, reminiscent of the relationship one has with a woman or God. If you’re not feeling it, it is not it. Every wine has a mission: to provoke the brain, to elicit memories. All those aromas float around in your brain and can take you to a place or a time. Wine can change you, turn you into a better person – or a worse one. That does depend on the person, but it also depends on the wine. Back in 2012 we aged the wine 100 days, in 2019 we aged it 39 days, and now we’re aging it 28 days. Making macerated wine is something basic, and that’s why it’s tricky: you want to make a light wine, a wine that doesn’t contain unpleasant elements and will not tickle the palate or the nose the wrong way. Pošip has a lot of potential for maceration, as does another local variety, Grk. My friend Bire (vinemaker Frano Milina) is experimenting with maceration on Grk, as am I, so in a couple of years we’ll see if it was worth it.

Your daughter Ivana is following in your footsteps? My daughter has recently graduated agronomy, yes. Winemaking needs fresh energy, a fresh approach – and I’ve decided to let her do her thing. I’ve told my story, and now it’s time for her to come up with her own ways to tickle the palate and the mind. Sometimes I’m asked about who influenced me as a winemaker, and my answer never changes – my grandpa, my father and mother, who spread the love and expected nothing in return, and now my daughter. I’m inspired by people and places, by the notion I’m part of a microcosm that shaped me into what I am. I can be difficult, I can be weird, but it’s who I am. Our maximum output is 50.000 bottles from 6,6 hectares – it’s more than enough. If you’re doing something you love, it’s not work. It’s an extension of my personality, and it makes me complete.

Where is Korčula heading in the decade to come in respect to global climate changes? It’s obvious the climate change has forever impacted cultures like grape and olive. This year, for example, we were forced to irrigate a small vineyard that never needed extra watering before. It just stopped giving us what we need to make good wine. Climate change seems to occur every ten thousand years and it still remains to be seen how much of it is our fault. Safe to say, this island has seen worse. As for the covid pandemic, at least in my community it has set some things right, it made us see priorities clearly. All we care about at the moment is health, family and small pleasures – like a glass of good wine.
