On Board Galeon Yachts’ 375 GTO
- By Patrick Sciacca
- March 23, 2023
The remnants of Hurricane Ian had turned the Atlantic into one angry ocean. At zero dark early, I started a trek from Long Island, New York, down to Somers Point, New Jersey, driving in a deluge with the hope that a weather window would open up and I would get a chance to see the Galeon Yachts 375 GTO, one of the top pocket cruisers , in action.
When I arrived, the rain had let up enough for Galeon’s Bob Burke and me to get off the dock. The wind was pumping, but the 375 GTO’s torque-filled 600 hp V-12 Mercury outboards, under the direction of Burke and a joystick control, made short work of leaving the marina and getting onto open water.
Easing up to the inlet, there was 8 to 10 feet of breaking white water from end to end. The bay offered up a stiff chop, but that didn’t deter the 375 GTO. In fact, the boat averaged a 47-knot top hop in the slop at 6,260 rpm. Fast cruise was 32 knots at 4,500 rpm, and at 4,000 rpm, cruise speed was 27 knots.
During my wheel time, it was readily apparent that these motors and this hull are well matched. The boat is real-time responsive with sports car-like handling. It also takes off instantaneously with throttle input. The Lenco trim tabs came in handy with the wind and sea state, and the twin Raymarine multifunction displays vividly showed our course. Skippers can dial in their helm experience with the electrically adjustable wheel and seats.
Performance is part of the 375 GTO’s story; the boat is also a fun-in-the-sun platform. The side decks fold out to increase the beam from 12 feet to 17 feet, 3 inches, creating a dance floor-size cockpit and what the builder calls beach mode. The cockpit bench seat slides on tracks aft to increase that dance floor, or forward to pull closer to the fold-out table for alfresco meals. Flip the seat’s backrest to face aft when the kids are in the water. A sunshade extends from the hardtop, protecting the entire cockpit from midday rays. The cockpit also has a Kenyon grill and a Vitrifrigo fridge, while the galley belowdecks is set up with an Isotherm fridge and a microwave by Black+Decker.
When sun is desired, pull back the shade, retract the roof, and drop the side windows to have a center-console experience.
At night, create some ambience with an armada of blue or white LEDs.
Belowdecks, there is room for an owner’s berth forward and twin berths aft for guests. The space is bright, thanks to hullside windows, and it feels warm with a beechwood gray interior. Fit-and-finish is first-rate.
Even on a less-than-optimal day, the Galeon Yachts 375 GTO proved a versatile vessel that should have broad appeal.

The Galeon 435 GTO Yacht Represents Style, Speed, and Luxurious Comfort
This vessel’s design has extraordinary attention to detail throughout..
- Writer Craig Ritchie
Among the many new yachts making their North American debut at the recent Miami International Boat Show, few attracted lineups quite like Galeon ’s all-new 435 GTO . The Polish yacht builder’s new flagship doesn’t just build on the stunning success of its popular 375 GTO model, it does so while setting entirely new standards in its class for performance, comfort, and style.
The key to the 435 GTO’s appeal lies in the fact it makes no apologies for being over the top in every possible way. The yacht industry like to use the phrase “class defining” a lot, but here it truly is justified. So what’s the big deal?
The 435 GTO—which stands for Grand Touring Outboard—starts with an unusual layout that puts equal emphasis on indoor and outdoor comforts. In many respects it’s like a big bowrider gone wild, with exceptional outdoor seating and space for entertaining under the sun, while in other respects it’s decidedly cruiser-like with its focus on interior space, overnight accommodations, and luxurious comfort. That’s a tough balance to achieve, especially while retaining the bowrider’s spirited handling and quick acceleration. So perhaps we should take a closer look.
An extended stern swim platform that surrounds its outboard engines on both sides makes the natural embarkation point from the dock. One step up through the wide pass-throughs on either side of the platform lead into the spacious cockpit, and the first hint of the delights ahead. The cockpit is dominated by a wrap-around settee on a sliding base that can position forward or backward, while the back rest can fold down to create a spacious sunpad.
A foldable, height-adjustable table and overhead sunshade make this space a natural for dining al fresco , particularly when the drop-down gunnels on each side are lowered to expand the cockpit laterally and open up the boat with uninterrupted views.
The term uninterrupted views take on another meaning in the over-the-top 435 GTO, as the gunnel-side see-through inserts even permit one to look down at the fish.
Blurring the distinction between indoor and outdoor space, the glass doors leading into the salon can be slid to the side to provide a single continuous entertaining space. A huge U-shaped dinette to starboard surrounds a folding table for indoor dining or evening conversations. Facing it to port is a large wet bar with a double grill, sink, refrigerator, and storage space.
Enormous panoramic windows along each side of the boat can be retracted on powered slides to let even more of that fresh air flow through. Or go one further and open the massive tinted sunroof at the forward end of the cabin to fully bathe the space in sunlight and fresh air.
Situated at the forward end of the salon under that big sunroof, the helm looks like something straight out of a private jet, with its glass displays, sport steering wheel, and luxurious triple-wide captain’s chairs.
A port-side pass-through leads forward to the open bow with an enormous wrap-around settee. A filler cushion converts the entire space into a ginormous sunpad, creating the ultimate space to soak up some vitamin D.
The lower deck overnight accommodations are accessed at the forward end of the salon. In the bow is an elegant owner’s stateroom that’s beautifully illuminated by day with overhead horizontal privacy windows and by night with tasteful indirect LED lighting.
A midships guest cabin accommodates double and single beds, giving the yacht far greater sleeping capacity than its sporty exterior might first suggest. With an internal water capacity of 300 litres and a fuel capacity of 2,000, the 435 GTO is certainly built to stretch its legs and explore far away ports of call. That’s particularly true in view of its outboard power, which can be ordered as four 500 horsepower units or triple 600s.
As one expects from a Galeon yacht, the 435 GTO is built to the most exacting production standards, with extraordinary attention to detail throughout. Upholstery work is top shelf, with neat, crisp stitching and buttery soft vinyls that stay cool to the touch even in direct sunlight. Onboard amenities reflect the best of the best, from the premium galley appliances to Dometic climate controls to top-of-the-line Raymarine electronics at the helm. There are no compromises, and Galeon makes no apologies for its “nothing but the best” approach.
Nor should it. The 435 GTO is a gem, and a fitting new model with which to commemorate Galeon’s 40th anniversary.

Singapore Yachting Festival shaping up
- March 28, 2024
Asia premieres from Azimut, Wally, Fairline, Galeon, Leopard, Jeanneau and Saxdor are among the provisional line-up for this year’s Singapore Yachting Festival at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.
This year’s Singapore Yachting Festival at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from April 25-28 could feature about 70 yachts, according to the show’s new owner, ONE°15 Events Management. The four-day show will be preceded by the two-day ICOMIA Boating Industry Conference followed by the YACHT STYLE Awards gala dinner on the Wednesday evening, with both events also held at ONE°15 Marina.
A subsidiary of SUTL Enterprise, owner of the ONE°15 Marina brand, ONE°15 Events Management is organising the four-day Singapore Yachting Festival and has engaged Wade Pearce of SG Marine Guide as an event consultant.
As well as an increase in yachts on the water, a notable addition to this year’s show is a ‘Lifestyle Festival’ market on land featuring experiential activities, pop-up lifestyle stalls, live music, roving entertainment and much more.
Arthur Tay, SUTL Enterprise’s CEO and Executive Director, said: “ONE°15’s acquisition of the Singapore Yachting Festival signifies a transformative journey towards elevating our brand influence in the marine industry. With curated, unique experiences, the Singapore Yachting Festival aligns with our vision to propel yachting into a lifestyle embraced by a discerning, aspirational audience.”
In the same way the event has had a change behind the scenes, it will be a showcase for many dealers publicising new additions and notable changes to their yacht portfolio. Following the completion of its acquisition by Sanlorenzo, Simpson Marine will continue to display Sanlorenzo, Bluegame and Fairline models, while Nautor Swan is set to join a portfolio that no longer includes Lagoon, Beneteau and Aquila.
Aquila 54 Yacht
Marine Italia, a multi-market Azimut dealer, will exhibit an Aquila 54 Yacht following the company’s new representation of the powercat brand in Singapore and Hong Kong, while Asiamarine was recently appointed as the Lagoon dealer in both markets as well as Thailand, and representative for Beneteau’s sailing yachts in Hong Kong.
Aquitalia 68
Aquitalia Yachts will make its Singapore debut with the Aquitalia 68 following the appointment of Raffles Yacht as its regional representative, while Saxdor’s new Asia-Pacific dealer, DCH Marine, will publicise its appointment with the Asia debut of the brand’s flagship 400 GTO along with a 320 GTC.
Silentworld
The show will include several superyachts including the 40m Silentworld charter yacht exhibited by Iseo Yachting, the new Hong Kong-based company founded by Adam Blackmore and Bryan Tse. Others include the 36m Azimut Hye Seas 2 by ONE°15 Charters Luxury Yachting.
Simpson Marine’s provisional line-up includes Sanlorenzo SL96A and SX88 superyachts, Bluegame’s flagship BGX73 and a BG42, as well as the Asia premiere of the Fairline Squadron 58. Asia’s largest yacht dealer could confirm other models before the show.
Sanlorenzo SL96A
Richard Allen, Simpson Marine’s COO, said: “In light of our recent acquisition by Sanlorenzo, our fleet will be more curated, highlighting larger vessels. Furthermore, representatives from Simpson Superyachts, Simpson Yacht Charter and our comprehensive range of yachting services including brokerage, management and registry will be on-site to provide advice.”
Wally wallywhy200
Wally’s 89ft wallywhy200 ‘spaceship’ and the wallypower58 will both make Asia-Pacific premieres, while Ferretti Group Asia-Pacific and dealer Hong Seh Yachting will also show a Ferretti Yachts 780 and stage the Singapore debut of the Rivamare, the elegant 39-footer from Riva’s Open line.
Princess X95
Boat Lagoon Yachting’s provisional line-up included the Princess Y95, F55, F45 and Southeast Asia show debuts of the X95 and X80, as well as the Asia premiere of the Merry Fisher 1295, the flagship of Jeanneau’s enclosed weekender series.
Azimut Magellano 60
The Asia-Pacific premiere of the Magellano 60 is the highlight of an Azimut display including a Fly 78 and a Fly 53, while Absolute’s new 56 Fly will be displayed with local dealer FP Autosports. Sunseeker plans to show a 76 Yacht and Manhattan 55, while dealer Asiamarine’s early confirmations included the Asia-Pacific debut of Galeon’s 375 GTO, a Nimbus T11 and enclosed C8.
Galeon 375 GTO
Derani Yachts is set to show an Axopar 45 XC Cross Cabin, Axopar 37 XC Cross Cabin and Greenline 40 Hybrid, with the region’s first Brabus Shadow 1000 delayed due to shipping but set to arrive in the region soon after the show.
The show’s provisional line-up includes a Gulf Craft Nomad 65 , De Antonio D50 from Spain exhibited by Flow Yacht Club, a Parker Monaco 110 (37ft) from Poland by Neptune Yacht Asia and the UX Spin (19ft) by South Africa builder UX Marine.
Leopard 46 Powercat
Also from South Africa, Leopard will have a spectacular five-model line-up, the largest by any single brand. Built by Robertson & Caine, the models on show side by side comprise the Leopard 42 and 50 sailing catamarans, and the brand’s full fleet of powercats, from the 40 PC – making its Asia debut – and 46 PC to the flagship 53 PC.
Fountaine Pajot could show multiple models including the MY6 powercat (46ft) in collaboration with The Yacht Sales Co, while other power catamarans on show include the 48ft Lynx represented by Malaysia-based Lynx Adventures Asia and built by Australia’s Outlaw Boats.
Dufour’s flagship 61 sailing monohull could also exhibit with the Dufour 41 as the latter makes its Southeast Asia debut following showings in Hong Kong in December and Japan in March, while other sailing monohulls include a Hanse 460 displayed by SEA Yacht Sales.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital
There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.
How to find the right boat?
There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.
Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.
This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.
Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such option offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).
If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.
Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.
How to buy tickets?
Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.
“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!” wrote (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.
Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.
Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.
Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.
Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as this offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.
This website (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other website sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.
Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.
“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.
There are two main boarding piers in the city center: Hotel Ukraine and Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.
Where to sit onboard?
Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.
The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.
Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.
There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
