Dörries Yachts to build a 100m superyacht

Dörries yachts has signed a contract to construct a 100m-plus superyacht for an american tech-billionaire.….

Dörries Yachts’ 100m-plus project has been intentionally kept secretive at the owner’s request. Dörries Yachts has been a shipyard on demand for a few years now, the concept of ‘shipyard on demand’ is, according to the yard, designed to be able to reduce costs without adverse effects on quality and delivery times.

“Shipyard on demand means that we do not have our own facilities and, apart from a core team, we do not employ permanent staff. As a result, we have to allocate only reasonably low general costs. Possible capacity constraints are met by collaborating with a consortium of experienced German and Dutch companies actively engaged in the yacht market,” explains Dörries Yachts.

“Low general costs and moderate profit rates combined with performance-based workflows, professional project management and passionate stakeholders enable Dörries Yachts to offer luxury motor yachts “made in Germany” at very competitive sales prices.”

While not owning any facilities itself, Dörries Yachts has secured access to multiple facilities in Brehemahaven where the construction for this particular project will take place. The superyacht is set to be delivered in 2025.

According to The Superyacht New Build Report, the 90m-plus sector has arguably been the most unpredictable and unstable sector of the market due to the limited potential clients who can actually afford such a vessel. Although the number of 90m-plus yachts delivered annually has gradually increased, the sector accounts for only a very small percentage of the market as a whole, yet it receives an even share of the attention due to the sheer scale and complexity of each project.

As the size increases to over 100m-plus the share of the market continues to shrink. Nevertheless, the near future for the 100m-plus sector looks strong, with 19 projects in the order book in total. However, with this sector of the market having the greatest exposure to Russian clients, some question markets remain over the continued viability of some of these projects. Will they cease entirely, or simply be put on hold?

Fortunately for Dörries Yachts, they have announced that its 100m-plus project is being built for an American tech-billionaire, with a scheduled delivery date in 2025.

To that end, the spa zone is equipped with an infinity pool, a spa bath, a plunge pool, a massage room, and an aesthetics salon. The interior layout is also arranged in such a way that the crew can provide seamless service to seafarers and still maintain their own well-being.

Olesinski designed Rise at the request of Dörries Yachs . The German yard wanted a vessel focused on wellness, as the trend has well and truly infiltrated the marine sector. ( Nuvolari-Lenard and Arcadia Yachts are just two of many industry players incorporating enhanced areas for health and wellness into new concepts.)

“We began discussions with Justin Olesinski and agreed that we wanted to create something that centered around wellness, a focal point that we have seen a huge increase in in the market,” the yard’s CEO, Henning Dörries, explains.

The spa is simply the cherry on top of one sophisticated superyacht. Rise showcases long, sleek lines, cascading curved decks, and a near-vertical bow that together create an undeniably striking silhouette. With a beam of roughly 45 feet, the newcomer has a large living area that can be easily navigated by the elevator.

The light and airy interior can accommodate up to 12 seafarers in six generous staterooms. The pick of the bunch is, of course, the owner’s suite. Located forward on the upper deck, the secluded haven includes a bedroom, a private office, a dressing room, and an en suite.

“Our hope is that Rise will appeal to a client who wants a unique yacht with wellness at the heart of the design but also with Northern European build quality; without the need to wait years in order to start the build,” added Dörries.

Dorries Yachts are pleased to unveil their latest yacht concept of 111 metres, designed by the respected H2 Yacht Design studio. The concept is designed to be built in marine grade steel with a displacement monohull hull form. With the length of 364’02” (111m) this impressive superyacht is sure to offer amazing outdoor and indoor spaces for endless entertainment, relaxation and socialising.

Twelve guests can be accommodated in six sumptuous staterooms, including a full-beam VIP suite. There is also accommodation for a crew of 36 professionals. The new 111-metre Dorries Yachts’ concept is designed to reach a maximum speed of 18 knots and cruise comfortably at 16 knots with a cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Dörries Yachts reveals more details about new company during Fort Lauderdale boat show

New superyacht builder Dörries Yachts has revealed more details of its activities at the Fort Lauderdale boat show.

Announced in August and officially launched at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, Dörries Yachts is an evolution of Dörries Maritime Services. The two will operate as separate companies, with the latter concentrating on superyacht services for pre-exisiting sales, including superyacht management and technical consultation, while Dörries Yachts is a a turnkey custom yacht builder – including project management – that will focus on building yachts 50m to 70m in Germany.

'Size-wise, there is a niche market that we can step into,' says Werner Dörries, managing director of Dörries Yachts and CEO of Dörries Maritime Services. 'It doesn't make sense to compete with Lürssen, but what about a 48m?' With other German superyacht builders focusing on much larger yachts, Dörries Yachts sees a gap in the market that they can fill. Dörries Yachts reports serious inquiries in this range and is working on design proposals for prospective owners.

Dörries Yachts has pre-developed designs by H2 Yacht Design, including an 85m based on the platform of 82m project Graceful , recently launched at Blohm + Voss, for which Dörries Yachts served as project manager. They also introduced the design of the 58m by H2. Interior designs by H2 Yacht Design in both modern and traditional styling were introduced today in Fort Lauderdale.

Also during its meeting at the Fort Lauderdale boat show, Dörries Yachts detailed its yacht building plans, which includes securing a facility site in Bremerhaven, Germany. Dörries has plans to let space from a current steel hull building operation in Bremerhaven and construct a shed for yacht building; once its first yacht contract is signed, construction on the new facility will commence.

They will tap into their deep well of contacts to sub-contract for elements from interiors to a/c components. Werner Dörries prefers to refer to these as 'co-builders' due to the close relationships that have been developed over the years through business with Dörries Maritime Services.

'Two major tasks will stay with us, project management and routing of vessel systems, because that has a huge impact on time and changes,' says Werner Dörries. 'And we'd have on person on our time in each trade to oversee each co-builder.'

Plans are to keep Dörries Yachts lean with a small staff and not have a huge overhead, passing savings down to its customers by offering a good price point. Added incentive to its clients is the offer of a reduced build time and engineering costs by using Dörries Yachts technical platforms, which can be modified upon request.

Dörries Yachts unveil new 111m superyacht concept

German refit specialist Dörries Maritime’s sister company Dorries Yachts have unveiled a new 111 metre superyacht concept developed together with H2 Yacht Design. The new build design showcases the facility’s new build capabilities, as well as the design skills of the British design studio.

Measuring 111 metres in length and 16.50 metres across, the vessel is designed with a Gross Tonnage of 4,475 GT.

Her two ABB Azipods are driven by four MTU engines that will provide a top speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 16 knots, and when cruising at 12 knots, offer a range of 6,000 nm.

Although still to be customised by clients, the interior is created to accommodate 12 guests in style while being taken care of by the company of 34 crew.

A large full beam tender bay is located near midships on the lower deck for storage for up to four guest tenders. Two helipads are on offer for to complete the guest transfer possibilities on board.
