We had a wonderful time, and the captain and cook supplied made it even better. They understood our desire for beach time, snorkeling time and sailing time and were amazingly able to help us optimize our time. Before the trip, we had trouble arranging some of the details via email (we do these trips twice/year and like to have things settled) . Once we arrived, the renter jumped right into action and everything was wonderful, proving that their approach of "we'll worry about it later" works just fine for them, even if it wasn't great for us beforehand. The boat was in great condition and the entire trip was wonderful. I would highly recommend the Seychelles, especially the turtle park and the islands up in the northern part of the cluster.

The highlight of our cruise in the Seychelles was undoubtedly the encounter with the manta rays. Their impressive wingspan and elegance in the water were simply breathtaking. We were also fortunate to see sea turtles basking on the white sand beaches. The multicolored corals and schools of tropical fish added a touch of beauty to every dive we did. I highly recommend this experience to all nature and marine life enthusiasts.

Catamaran Charter We chartered a Lagoon 38 Catamaran with a Skipper for two couples. Our Skipper, George, was fantastic! The boat was clean and everything was in working order. We didn't love the first night and last night moored on Eden Island because the boat is moored near a discotech club that boomed all night both nights, but that was really our only complaint of the whole week. Our first day, we sailed (not motored) to Curieuse Island just off Praslin and George helped us cook the Tuna that we caught that day for dinner. The rest of the week was a blur of Giant Tortoises, SCUBA Diving, Snorkeling, and Sailing around Praslin and Le Digue Islands before making the crossing back to Mahe Island. This was truly a memorable trip, made all the better by our skipper and new friend, George.

Trustworthy renter I had rented a catamaran from a competitor for 2 weeks in January 2019. After a week, the first 40-foot catamaran (broken fridge) was replaced by a bigger one (47 feet) but the windlass broke away on the first ascent from the anchorage. We rushed to Sail Together to rent a Lagoon 380 less than a year old, presented by a very nice and competent team and all this for the same price as the previous charterer (3370 € per week). Eden Island where Sail Together is located is excellent to take possession of the boat and do the provisioning, but leave as soon as possible to Praslin or La Digue (3 to 4 hours of nav) to taste the paradisiacal beaches and coves and quickly escape from the bar located near the pontoon which puts the music on full blast until one o'clock in the night. If you are fishing trolling during the crossing, you will probably have the chance to eat bonito at the evening meal!

I used Lagoon 38 of SAILOE in may for a small family trip. Boat is great, I am certified skipper but we decided to take local skipper for local knowledge. Captain Dan was great, polite and knowledgeable. Overnight anchoring in Anse Lazio on Praslin island is a beautiful anchoring spot.

It was far not the first experience of charter bareboat for me, but it was one of the few times when I can't say anything negative about charter company. Initially we booked Lagoon 38 of 2016, but ~ 1 week before our charter we were upgraded to Lagoon 42 of 2017 absolutely for free. Guess it was something wrong with the first one, but anyway. So I would say it was as good charter experience as it could be. Catamaran itself was absolutely fine, we hadn't any problems with it, passed check in and check out smoothly and quickly. The only advice I would give to potential clients - don't count on snorkeling masks and paddles that are included - much better to take yours with you.

Sail around Mahé on your catamaran rental

Eden Island Marina is located near Victoria (the island’s capital) and offers everything you can expect from a modern marina. The capital is also the best place to buy provisions for your catamaran rental in Seychelles, as there are several larger supermarkets, as well as a colourful market for fresh fish, fruit and vegetables.

You can also stopover on St. Pierre, a small island off the coast of Praslin. When sailing in Seychelles, you should note that:

A skipper's proof of experience certificate is required to sail a boat in the Seychelles. We will send you a questionnaire along with your charter contract so you can document your sailing experience.

Seychelles Airport (SEZ) is located on the main island of Mahé.

The taxi ride to the Eden Island Marina takes approximately 15 minutes. You can get to Praslin with a so-called "island hopper" from Air Seychelles. The flight takes about one hour. The taxi to the Baie Sainte Anne base takes roughly 20 minutes. If you don't want to fly, you can also take the Cat Cocos ferry from Mahé to Praslin. The crossing takes about an hour and takes you directly into Baie Sainte Anne.

Botanical Garden, Mahé

The Seychelles Botanical Garden is located in Mont Fleuri on the outskirts of Victoria. It was established over a hundred years ago and is home to a large collection of exotic plants. There are also giant tortoises from Aldabra Atoll, some of which are more than 150 years old.

Bel Air Cemetery, Mahé

The Bel Air Cemetery is one of the oldest historical sites in Seychelles. Famous and infamous personalities from Seychelles' history are buried here, such as the corsair Jean-Francois Hodoul.

Domaine de Val des Près, Mahé

The artisan village of 'Domaine de Val des Près' offers the following attractions: the 'Gran Kaz' plantation house, built around 1870, 'La Kaz Rosa', a typical 20th century worker's house, various workshops for local handicrafts, and the 'Maison de Coco', a house built from coconut products, where you will find souvenirs all made from coconut palm.

Kreolfleurage Parfums, Mahé

The Praslin Museum is about 50 metres from the Acajou Hotel on the Cote D'Or. This museum showcases Seychelles' traditions and culture. It has a garden with endemic and medicinal plants of the islands where you can watch flying foxes and refresh yourself with lemon tea or local fruit juice. If you so desire, you can peel coconuts, grill breadfruit, and experience other typical local activities.

Black Pearl Farm

In Amitié you can visit the Black Pearl company and its three attractions: the killer mussel farm, the pearl farm, and the black pearl shop. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to see more than 40,000 giant clams and learn about their feeding. Black pearls are cultivated here on the first and only pearl farm in the Indian Ocean. The shop offers jewellery and other exotic creations made from the farmed Seychellois 'Black Lip Oyster'.

Plantation House, La Digue

The Plantation House is one of the oldest colonial-style plantation houses, of the few that still remain in Seychelles. It belongs to L'Union Estate and is built in the French colonial style, with a thatched roof supported by poles and rafters. The stairs on all four sides of the building are a special feature of these structures.

Anse L'Union, La Digue

A gigantic granite monolith is located on the land of the L'Union Estate on Anse L'Union beach on the west coast of the island. This rock is considered a national monument.

Curieuse Island

Venture to Curieuse Island and marvel at the contrast between the red earth on its slopes and the lush, green vegetation. Go ashore in Baie de La Raie at the park ranger's headquarters, where hunchbacked parrotfish and giant turtles frolic in the water. The path from Baie de La Raie to Anse José leads through thick mangrove forests and is one of the most spectacular locales on the island. The house of a former leper colony's doctor in Anse José has been transformed into a fascinating museum as an example of Creole colonial architecture. Sea turtles lay their eggs here on the beach. Diving in the coral garden or at Pointe Rouge is a must, as is a snorkelling trip to St Pierre.

The only aspects of the Seychelles weather which are subject to great seasonal variation are the rainfall and the wind. In general, the Seychelles' wettest month is January, which usually sees around 17.53 cm of rainfall, and the driest month is July, which receives just 2.03 cm of rainfall. The wind speed in the Seychelles ranges from around 12.07 kmph in April, to around 27.04 kmph in August.

When is the best time to go sailing in the Seychelles?

Typically, it is best to visit the Seychelles during the dry season , which runs from May until September , as it is during this time period that you will see the best weather for nautical activities such as diving and snorkeling . Although the temperature is good all year in the Seychelles, the visibility for diving during the rainy season is typically much worse. L’arcipelago delle Seychelles è composto da 115 isole di origine granitica e corallina nel cuore dell’oceano indiano. Sono legate da un unico filo conduttore: una natura lussureggiante, con spiagge dorate incorniciate dalle palme da cocco.

Le stagioni alle Seychelles sono solo due, caratterizzate dal monsone di nord ovest da novembre a inizio aprile, e dal monsone di sud est da metà maggio ai primi di ottobre. Il periodo migliore per noleggiare una barca alle Seychelles è quello di mezzo tra i due alisei, tra marzo e maggio oppure tra ottobre e novembre, in cui il vento è leggero e le giornate sono calde senza essere eccessivamente umide.

La tua vacanza in catamarano alle Seychelles inizia a Victoria nell’isola di Mahè , la più grande dell’arcipelago, comodamente collegata tramite l’aeroporto internazionale. Completate le procedure di imbarco partiamo subito alla volta di Prasilin, con una navigazione di circa 25 miglia.

Avvicinandoti alla costa di Praslin al tramonto, proprio come fece il primo esploratore europeo Lazarre Picault nel 1774, scorgerai un isola collinare dalla forma allungata, coperta da una vegetazione verde smeraldo.  L’isola non è mai troppo trafficata e fortunatamente ha saputo conservare intatto lo spirito dell’epoca.

Praslin è punteggiata da baie da sogno, ed in particolare due nella costa nord-occidentale sono meritatamente annoverate tra le più belle spiagge al mondo. Parliamo dell’ Anse Lazio , con il suo incredibile mix di sabbia finissima, acqua cristallina e palme da frutto, e Anse Georgette , una vera e propria spiaggia da cartolina dall’anima selvaggia.

Il più interessante insediamento dell’isola sorge sulla baia di Sainte Anne , protetto dall’ampia barriera corallina. Il paese è un ottimo punto per rimpinguare la cambusa e fare rifornimenti, e per organizzare una gita alla Valleè de Mai , dichiarata patrimonio dell’UNESCO nel 1966. In questo giardino dell’eden crescono oltre 1400 esemplari di Coco de Mer, la palma con la più grande noce al mondo, che può superare i 27 metri di altezza e i 300 anni di vita. Il suo frutto ha una peculiare forma a cuore e arriva a pesare 25 chili, è una specie che viene fortemente salvaguardata per via della sua rarità. Questo angolo di paradiso portò lo stesso Picault a rinominare Praslin “l’Isola delle Palme”

La nostra crociera in catamarano alle Seychelles si spinge fino a la Digue, che racchiude in se tutte le caratteristiche tipiche dell’arcipelago: una ricca barriera corallina, spiagge mozzafiato punteggiate dai massi di granito che si adagiano sul mare azzurro. L’isola misura appena 10 chilometri quadrati ed è abitata da circa 3000 persone, e al suo interno si respira una quiete difficile da immaginare.

La Digue è divisa in due zone ben distinte, a nord ovest troviamo il centro abitato di La Passe con un pittoresco porticciolo a cui accostarsi, mentre le spiagge più belle e remote si trovano a sud-est. Tra tutte possiamo citare Grande Anse e Petit Anse , due spiagge deserte una a fianco all’altra, e Anse Cocos , la più difficile da raggiungere, dal paesaggio tipicamente tropicale.

Le Inner Islands

Una vacanza in catamarano alle Seychelles non può dirsi completa senza avere visitato alcune delle Inner Islands, isolotti perlopiù disabitati che circondano la costa di Prasilin.

Iniziamo da Curieuse , la casa di 500 tartarughe giganti di Aldabra che vivono perlopiù in totale libertà. Questa specie può raggiungere i 250kg e 130 anni di vita, e si trova unicamente alle Seychelles.

L’isola di Saint Pierre è poco più di una manciata di scogli di granito con la sua piccola corona di palme. E’ un luogo eccezionale per lo snorkeling, grazie alla colorata barriera corallina ricca di pesci tropicali e tartarughe marine.

A nord-est di La Digue si trovano una serie di isolotti idilliaci: La Felicitè è un paradiso nautrale dal nome appropriato. Ci si può togliere un bello sfizio pranzando all’hotel di lusso direttamente sulla spiaggia. L’isola di Grande Soeur   si restringe al centro ad appena 200 metri di larghezza, creando due magnifiche spiagge che guardano i versanti opposti, uno degli angoli più belli delle Seychelles. Marianne è un atollo con alcuni tra i punti di immersione più belli al mondo, dove non è raro ammirare squali balena, squaletti del reef e razze.

Concludiamo il nostro viaggio in catamarano alle Seychelles ancorando all’isola di Cousine . Si tratta di un vero e proprio paradiso terrestre con oltre 300.000 uccelli tropicali, tartarughe giganti e una fitta vegetazione circondata da spiagge dorate in ogni direzione.

Nelle Seychelles, il pesce, re della cucina delle Seychelles, viene servito in tutte le sue forme: in insalata, carpaccio, affumicato,..... Ma non solo nel sale! Infatti, le Seychellois amano l'agrodolce e non fanno distinzione tra frutta e verdura. Questo può sembrare confuso rispetto al nostro regime occidentale, ma l'esperienza merita una visita. E, in generale, i gusti sono piuttosto piccanti! In nessun piatto mancano le spezie e in particolare il curry. Altrimenti, non andate via senza aver assaggiato un pesce di bufalo, cioè uno cotto in foglie di palma. È un metodo di cottura in umido delle Seychelles che unisce piacere culinario e natura. Per immergervi nella cultura delle Seychelles, fermatevi a Chez Baptista sull'isola di Mahé. Sulla Takamaka Cove, questo ristorante è letteralmente sulla spiaggia! Ideale per immersioni in acqua tra due piatti o per l'atterraggio sulla spiaggia da digerire.

Al di fuori delle immersioni, approfittate del vostro viaggio alle Seychelles per fare un'escursione! Un'escursione di mezza giornata alla Mare aux Cochons sull'isola di Mahé, ad esempio. Acque azzurre, rocce rosa, sabbia bianca, queste spiagge meritano una visita! Ma prima di raggiungerli, esplorate la giungla delle Seychelles per un cambio completo di scenario. All'arrivo, avete meritato di immergervi nelle magnifiche acque di Anse Georgette! Sull'isola di La Digue, c'è una piacevole passeggiata nel parco dell'unione, che conduce ad Anse Source d'Argent. Per i più coraggiosi, salite fino al Nido dell'Aquila, il punto più alto dell'isola. Lì, la splendida vista panoramica di La Digue e delle isole circostanti vi ricompenserà per i vostri sforzi!

Se c'è qualcosa da vedere nelle Seychelles, sono le spiagge da sogno! E ce ne sono un sacco. Oltre alle mitiche Anse Lazio e Anse Source d'Argent, considerate due delle spiagge più belle del pianeta, molte delle spiagge delle Seychelles sono anche molto belle e meno affollate. In barca, il vantaggio è che potrete scoprire spiagge inesplorate e segrete atterrando direttamente sul bordo della sabbia. Le spiagge dietro La Digue e Praslin sono molto più belle delle spiagge più pubblicizzate. Per il resto, l'isola di Félicité ha anche la sua parte di belle spiagge, simili a La Source d'Argent, con meno persone. Ci sono anche molti bei pesci da vedere sotto l'oceano, alcuni dei quali non sono visibili da qui, come la manta ray. Assicuratevi di esplorare l'isola di Marianne in bottiglia. L'ecosistema marino è molto ricco - squali grigi, tartarughe, barracuda, per non parlare della bellezza dell'isola quasi lunare! Qui, non c'è bisogno di una barriera corallina, il mare è poco profondo e molte specie vivono qui, per la gioia dei vostri occhi.

Le Isole Seychelles hanno un clima tropicale, quindi il tempo è caldo durante tutto l'anno, rendendo le Seychelles una destinazione da sogno per il noleggio di yacht . A seconda degli alisei tropicali, ci sono due stagioni, con periodi di transizione tranquilli nel mezzo . Gli alisei di nord-ovest soffiano da dicembre a marzo , con una media di 8-12 nodi, portando un clima caldo e umido. Il clima è più secco e fresco da maggio a settembre , quando i venti passano a sud-est, con una media di 10-20 nodi. La temperatura media dell'aria oscilla tra i 24°C e i 32°C, mentre l a temperatura del mare oscilla tra i 26°C e i 30°C, tutto l'anno.

Sebbene le Seychelles si trovino al di fuori della fascia ciclonica, in genere le precipitazioni sono maggiori da dicembre a marzo. Nonostante alcuni periodi siano più secchi o piovosi, il tempo alle Seychelles è piacevole tutto l'anno . Il clima tropicale rende sempre possibili improvvisi cambiamenti meteorologici, a prescindere dalla stagione. Ma se la pioggia può arrivare all'improvviso, può anche tornare a splendere il sole in men che non si dica: l'ideale per un'avventura in barca a vela. 

Le maree alle Seychelles si verificano nell'arco di circa 6 ore. La media è di 2 m durante la marea di primavera e di 0,9 m durante la marea di ponente. Le correnti marine sono moderate con una media di 1,5 nodi, quindi optare per un noleggio di yacht senza equipaggio alle Seychelles è una buona idea. In caso di mare mosso, nella zona di Beau Vallon possono verificarsi correnti di strappo. Le 115 isole Seychelles si trovano nell'Oceano Indiano, a nord est del Madagascar e si dividono nel Plateau de Mahé, formato da isole granitiche e nel Gruppo delle Amirantes, composto da isole coralline e atolli. Alle isole granitiche (Inner Islands) appartengono Mahé, la maggiore delle Seychelles (oltre 150 kmq), Victoria, Silhouette, North Island, l'arcipelago Praslin, La Digue e Frégate. Queste isole uniche al mondo, sorgono su un anello granitico che si estende per circa 400 km. Alcune atolli corallini hanno origini antichissime e si sono formati spesso attorno a crateri di vulcani sommersi. Il mare presenta le condizioni ideali per la formazione dei coralli e la barriera corallina rappresenta l'habitat naturale per pesci dai colori vivaci e disegni complessi. Il clima è equatoriale, temperato dai venti e con precipitazioni periodiche ed è favorito dagli influssi oceanici e dalla mancanza dei cicloni. Le stagioni dipendono dagli alisei, che soffiano da sud est, da maggio a ottobre. Praslin, la seconda isola per estensione e dalla vegetazione lussureggiante, offre spiagge più lunghe ed è circondata dalla barriera corallina. Da Praslin si raggiunge la Grande Soeur, un'isola disabitata che insieme a la Petite Soeur forma il gruppo de 'Les Soeurs'. Il tratto di mare che separa le due isole è amato dai sommozzatori per la splendida barriera corallina. Curieuse fa parte del parco nazionale e dista 2 km da Praslin. La Digue (2000 abitanti) è la quarta isola delle Seychelles, separata da Praslin da un braccio di mare largo 5 km. L'urbanizzazione è ridotta al minimo e le automobili sono rare: i mezzi di trasporto tradizionale e tuttora più diffusi sono la bicicletta e il carro trainato dai buoi, usato anche come taxi. È l'isola più fotografata per le suggestive spiagge dalle rocce rossastre, che offrono uno straordinario spettacolo al tramonto.

Una vacanza all'insegna del relax che non dimenticherete più!

Day 1: check-in.

Dopo il breve trasferimento dall'Aeroporto di Mahè al Marina di Eden Island nel primo pomeriggio ci si imbarca sul catamarano prima di mollare gli ormeggi e iniziare a scoprire queste isole paradisiache. Una breve navigazione ci porterà ad ancorarci di fronte le bianchissime spiagge del Parco Marino di Saint Anne dove passeremo l'intero pomeriggio in questa deliziosa location tra bagni nell'acqua limpidissima e gustandoci il tramonto e la nottata.

Dopo colazione potrete gustarvi le isole del parco marino, facendo snorkeling e kayak in ogni angolo di Saint Anne. Dopo pranzo faremo rotta verso nord-est alla volta di Cocos Island con i suoi grandi scogli dalle strane forme levigate dal mare: non potrete dimenticare l'armonia delle forme e dei colori che la natura vi saprà regalare. Anche sott'acqua lo snorkeling è imperdibile vista la presenza di centinaia di pesci tropicali e l'acqua davvero cristallina. La sera la passeremo alla fonda davanti il pittoresco porto di La Digue.

Dopo la colazione, potrete noleggiare una bici per visitare questa tranquilla isola immersa nella natura e i suoi sentieri sotto le alte palme, le case con i tetti di foglie, le piccole aziende locali e le bianche incontaminate spiagge con le levigate rocce a far da contorno. Probabilmente la Digue è la più bella bella isole delle Seychelles: senza auto, solo biciclette, carri tirati da buoi o possibilità di fare escursioni a cavallo per godere appieno della natura che qui regna sovrana. Passeremo la notte in quest'isola.

Questa mattinata sarà all'insegna dell'esplorazione di Cousin Island: una riserva naturale e un santuario per gli uccelli, sin dal 1968, habitat di rare specie di  tartarughe centenarie giganti che potrete osservare da vicino. Il pranzo verrà consumato a bordo e il pomeriggio lo passerete a Praslin per passeggiare e scoprire la Vallè de Mai, una incantevole valle patrimonio dell'UNESCO. Il sentiero che si snoda in questa location è quasi al buio a causa delle enormi foglie delle palme da "Coco de Mer" che lo fiancheggiano; alte più di 40 mt sarà un piacere sentire il fruscio delle loro foglie mosse dalla brezza locale. Per la notte daremo fonda nella Baia di St. Anne per consumare la cena preparata dallo chef di bordo. 

Isseremo le vele e faremo rotta verso Grande Souer per organizzare una grigliata in questa spiaggia, una delle più incantevoli dell'intero arcipelago delle Seychelles. Il pomeriggio potrete scoprire l'isola a piedi, dedicarvi al relax in spiaggia o a bordo, agli sport acquatici o allo snorkeling. La notte verrà trascorsa alla fonda a Curieuse o ad Anse Petite Cour.

Oggi approderemo a Curieuse: un'isola parte del locale Parco Marino abitata da centinaia di tartarughe di terra. Dopo pranzo veleggeremo alla volta di Saint Pierre con le sue spiagge cinte da centinaia di rocce e alte palme mosse dal vento: vi troverete davanti al tipico e indimenticabile scenario delle Seychelles immortalato innumerevoli volte per le riviste di turismo! Quest'isola è anche un'eccellente location per lo snorkelling visto il suo magnifico scenario subacqueo popolato da centinaia di pesci. Andremo alla fonda per la notte all'Anse Volbert o all'Anse Lazio a Praslin.

Quest'ultima giornata trascorrerà all'insegna del relax tra bagni di sole sulle spiagge di Praslin, snorkeling, tuffi e attività acquatiche coccolati dallo staff di Bordo. Nel pomeriggio apriremo le vele per fare rotta verso il porto di partenza sull'isola di Mahé godendoci questi ultimi momenti in paradiso. Passeremo l'ultima notte in Marina ad Eden Island.
