Though the first release of the Nautitech 47 Power dates back to January 2018, this powercat was given a deep restyling of the interior and the cockpit a few months ago. Basically, this was pretty much a new model that we were testing in the Florida sunshine.

This model is a first for Nautitech - based at Rochefort, just south of La Rochelle, on France’s west coast - as it is the first power catamaran from this brand that has been around since 1994. The builder and its in-house architect, Marc Lombard, decided to build using the basis of a sailboat model, the very successful 46 Open. A rather clever decision in terms of investment, since a large part of the studies, designs, molds, tools, etc. can be (re)used. The silhouette of the 47 is logically reminiscent of that of the 46 Open - in the Flybridge version - with rather narrow hulls, a fairly short coachroof forward, and a large beam - respectively one meter (3’3”) and 0.5 m (20”) wider compared to the Aquila 44 and the 48. A design that is less “motorboat-like”, yet is still elegant in the Flybridge version with its (optional) arch/bimini. The fact remains that transforming a sailing catamaran into a powercat is not as simple as that. The design team and the architect had to considerably reinforce the structure in order to fit the 300 hp engines where previously the much more modest 40 hp motors sat, and finally to redesign the aft third of the hulls – taking into account engine b...

Nautitech 47

Description

If you like sleek cats, The Nautitech 47 (launched 2004) is one of the prettiest multihulls on the water, She is an evolution of the earlier 475 design by Alain Mortain and Yannis Mavrikios, which set the design DNA for the French catamaran manufacturer going forward. Compare her lines to cruising catamarans of the same length and you will see what we mean (read our Bali 4.8 review for example!)

You can see many of the design features carried through into Nautitech’s more recent designs like the Open 40: aft helms that maximise the sailing feel with plenty of space in the aft cockpit, safe, wide decks and a simple efficient reefing system at the mast.

These older boats do not have the “Open” design of the newer designs: there is a sill between cockpit and saloon that you need to step over for example, but she has a a very familiar feel to her if you know your way around a Nautitech and looks fantastic on the water

The 47 is a beamy boat, (47-foot-by-25-foot). She looks stable and seaworthy and sails that way too. The N47 is a classic that has inspired later designs like the C-Catamarans C-Cat 48 and others.

The winches for controlling the mainsheet and headsail sheets are aft, like the modern designs, and halyards and reefing lines are managed at the mast like the Open 40. The newer Open 46 leads all of the lines back to the cockpit which is arguably safer in a seaway, but it does have it’s disadvantages: longer lines, more friction and touch points and an overall more complicated reefing system. There is les to go wrong on a 47.

Just like most Nautitechs (except for the 46 Fly), the boom is tucked in close to the coachroof so it is easy to manage the mainsail: you jus need to hop up the steps at the mast and everything is at hand, even for shorter sailors. The 47 has influenced many later catamaran designs: you could call it a classic. Read our Seawind 1370 review for an example.

The Nautitech 47 not only looks the business compared to cats of a similar era like the Lagoon 410 , but she is a decent sailor. This French yard has always strived to get the optimum balance between performance and comfort. They have kept the weight off, so she gets moving quickly in light airs and is a nice mover as long as you don’t overload her. Slimmer hulls means less space down below compared to, say, an older lagoon like a 440, but they slip through the water faster and the living space up top is generous.

Under power, the Nautitech 47’s comes with 54 HP Yanmars with saildrives which will push the boat along at over 9 knots when maxed out. You can achieve a cruising speed of 7 knots at 2,300 rpm.

NAUTITECH 47: THE FIRST BAVARIA POWER CATAMARAN WILL SAIL AT 22 KNOTS

There’s important news for Bavaria that has just started the construction of its first power catamaran. The boat is called Nautitech 47 Power and will be probably presented at the 2018 Düsseldorf Boat Show. Largely inspired by the previous Nautitech 46 Open , the new catamaran will have the same hull than the sailing counterpart.

Bavaria took over Nautitech three years ago; since then, it has been building sailing multihulls and, now, the German boatyard has decided to enlarge its range embracing a field that is experiencing an unprecedented development period. We’re talking about the world of power catamarans, of course.

The concept and engineering phases have been already completed and the new boat will be soon under construction at the Rochefort -based production site (France) where the German brand has concentrated the production of its catamarans.

14 metres long , the Nautitech 47 Power will feature the same size and design than the sailing Nautitech 46 Open.

According to initial Bavaria reports, the new power catamaran will benefit from finishes and spaces which will place it in the range of luxury boats intended for long cruises.

If sizes and design will replicate those of the sailing counterpart, exterior layout , however, seems to be completely different, at least according to the first renderings.

On the stern stands out a large swimming platform which will be also used to accommodate a tender that, according to the manufacturer, would reach up to 2.80 metres in length . A further outdoor space, much larger than the traditional cockpit and furnished with a central table and sofas, is located on the bow . Then, another outdoor space is available on the flybridge which, in addition to the wheelhouse, envisages a wet bar equipped with BBQ, refrigerator and sink.

The cockpit gives access to the inner dinette with a continuity of volumes that Bavaria had already baptized “ Open Concept ” at the launch of the sailing 46 Open. For the moment, information about interior arrangement are still under wraps but desing would probably focus on spacious environments , maybe numerically reduced in the owner’s version.

The Nautitech 47 will be powered by two Volvo Penta D4 engines outputting 225 or 300 hp which, according to forecasts of the boatyard, will ensure a maximum speed of 22 knots and a range of 1,000 miles at 9-knot cruising speed .

At this point, we just have to wait for further information from Bavaria headquarters, maybe before next autumn and the first boat shows, during which some more pictures will be certainly unveiled.

With an increasing trend for motor yachts for many purposes without compromises to comfort, space, fuel-efficiency and design, Bavaria Yachts announced the construction of the first Nautitech 47 Power catamaran at their Rochefort shipyard in France.

The Nautitech 47 Power will measure 14m and offer a massive volume with remarkable exterior areas from aft submersible hydraulic swimming platform, to aft cockpit and forward deck being a complete outdoor salon ideal for lounging, sunbathing and alfresco dining. The flybridge scores with BBQ, large bimini, wet bar, the ergonomic helm station perfect to enjoy the slipstream or the panoramic sea views. Inside the new Nautitech 47 Power catamaran features the tried and tested open layout living room concept seamlessly connecting with the aft cockpit to offer a large table for families and friends.

The power will come from twin Volvo Penta D4 engines with each 225hp topping out at a maximum speed of 22 knots. Still with the economic cruising speed of 9 knots a fair range of 1.000 nautical miles proofs the fuel-efficiency of the Nautitech 47 motor catamaran which is scheduled to celebrate its debut at the 2018 yacht fairs. Thing to know, licence and skipper for renting a catamaran.

A licence is required to sail a catamaran in Croatia, you check the list on our page “Acceptable licences in Croatia” . However, if you and your crew do not have a boat licence you can easily add a skipper or any other crew member.

Security Deposit for renting catamaran in Croatia

Similarly to renting a car, chartering a boat requires a security deposit when renting a catamaran in Croatia. The deposit, fully refundable after check-out, covers you and your fellow passengers against accidental damage and ensures that contractual obligations are met. The security deposit varies in value depending on the model and brand of the boat. It will be returned to you after the boat has been inspected and is deemed undamaged.

Insurance of a catamaran and payment insurance

We have partnered with WIENER INSURANCE GROUP to additionally insured all your payments send to us with Wire transfer and also credit card payments are fully insured when renting a catamaran in Croatia. By Croatia law, all catamarans and passangers are fully insured for the time of the charter.

Cancellation policy for chartering a catamaran in Croatia

Europe Yachts Charter Group offers a full refund for cancellations made within 24 hours of booking for a catamaran charter in Croatia. For cancellations made up to 7 days after the booking date, a 12% handling fee is retained. For bookings cancelled up to 30 days before the check-in date, a 50% refund of the total amount is applied. Cancellations made within less than 30 days of the check-in date are not eligible for refund. Please be aware that the conditions of our charter partners’ own policies apply. If you have further questions regarding our cancellation policy, please contact our customer support team.

What happens when I request an offer for renting a catamaran?

What is a Transit Log?

A Transit Log is a variable payment when renting a catamaran in Croatia, which can include the following: bed linen, cleaning, on-board Internet connection, tourist tax and base marina fees. The details of the Transit Log differ depending on the boat, location and charter partner. Once you choose your boat, our team will be able to outline the specifics of the Transit Log associated with your booking.

Are there any other costs I should be aware of when renting a catamaran in Croatia?

There are marina fees and fuel costs which vary depending on the type, duration and location of your catamaran sailing holiday in Croatia. Marina fees need to be paid at each marina you choose to dock overnight – the amount varies but you may be able to find this information in advance by contacting the marinas directly. Fuel costs depend on whether you’re you like to sail or go with the motor.

And here are some estimates expenses:

Fuel est.: 250 – 350 € Mooring fees est.: 200 – 400 € Presuming that most of the nights will be on the anchor or mooring buoy. Some people will go entire week with only 150 € spent on mooring fees. It also depends on the weather. It is safer to be in marina if there is a storm. Food: 450 €+ (provisions for boat + skipper) Please note that this does not include dinners in restaurants. Meals in restaurants are 15 € for pizza and soft drinks, while full meals are 25-35 € per person.
