Mega Yacht Crewing Jobs

CruiseJobFinder also specializes in helping people find great yacht crew jobs on privately owned sailboats and luxury yachts. This can range from a 50-foot sailboat sailing through the Mediterranean to a mega yacht, owned by one of the world's richest individuals, which is sailing all over the globe. These types of jobs are a great alternative to working on a cruise ship and offer a truly unique experience.

Working Aboard a Luxury Yacht: An Overview

Imagine your days full of work where you will meet people from all over the world, travel to exotic destinations, eat gourmet meals with a private chef and feel the breeze of the ocean air right in your office. Seems a little far fetched right?

Yacht crewing photo

Charter yachts take guests on a single or multi-day trip for a fee. Some of these yachts may be commercially owned by a large corporation while others are owned by private individuals who commonly act as captain.

What about mega yachts such as those owned by Saudi princes and the billionaires of the world like Paul Allen, the Microsoft co-founder, and famous golfer Tiger Woods? Mega Yachts, luxury yachts and superyachts are all yachts that are 78 feet or more. These vessels can cost from one million U.S. dollars or more.

Finally, smaller yachts are much more affordable than they once were and more captains are buying their own yacht and pushing off anchor to explore the world on their own terms.

No matter the size of the vessel a crew is necessary.

Start your search for your Dream Job Today!

Unlike the busy cruise lines, working on private yachts offers an opportunity to work with a small amount of guests and co workers. The intimate setting paints a pretty picture enabling crew members to bond closely with their fellow crew members, employers and guests that make take passage upon the yacht they work for.

Yachting etiquette must be portrayed and a sense of adventure is a must!

Moscow metro blasts: another fsb inside job.

moscow metro blasts: another fsb inside job?

“ The first explosion took place on a train after it had stopped in the Lubyanka station in central Moscow , close to the headquarters of Russia’s FSB security service, a spokeswoman for the Russian emergencies ministry told AFP .”

“ The first blast at the Lubyanka metro station killed 22 people and wounded 12 . The second at Park Kulturi station left 12 dead and 7 wounded ,” reported AFP . Russian Federal Security Service chief Alexander Bortnikov has already blamed Chechen rebels for the attack, an explanation slavishly accepted by western media outlets like the BBC who are already running feature articles about the history of terrorism in Russia that completely fail to mention the FSB’s direct role in almost every major attack to have taken place over the last 10 years .

Since the explanation that two female suicide bombers with explosives strapped to their bodies were responsible for the bombing has come directly from the FSB , past history means we can only treat the official story with the utmost suspicion.

The notorious Russian FSB has a documented history of staging false flag events in order to accomplish political agendas .

update: bombs kill 12 in russia’s dagestan region from cnn : Twelve people – nine of them police officers – were killed Wednesday when two bombs exploded in Russia’s southern republic of Dagestan , officials told CNN. Another 23 people, including 11 police officers, were hospitalized with wounds from the bombings, at least one of which was carried out by a suicide bomber, according to a spokesman for the Dagestan police and Vladimir Markin, a spokesman for the Investigative Committee in the Russian prosecutor general’s office. It happened two days after female suicide bombers killed at least 39 people on the Moscow metro .

Is it a caregiving job or a scam?

Facebook

As a nanny or caregiver, you know that families and employers trust you to take care of their children or older adults. It’s the same trust that scammers want to build with you when they post ads for fake jobs to steal your money and personal information. So how do you spot the scam?

Here’s how it works. You see an ad for a job, maybe at a job site, and apply. The “employer” sends you a check upfront and tells you to deposit it. “Keep part of the money,” they say, and send the rest to buy supplies or even toys for the children in your care. Don’t do it — while the position seems real, it’s not. It’s a  scam . Days later, you’ll find out from your bank that the check was fake, and you’ll lose any money you sent. Then you’ll be stuck repaying the money to the bank.

Here are more ways to spot and avoid phony  nanny or caregiver jobs :

  • Don't send money to someone who says they want to hire you. An honest employer will never send you a check and then tell you to send them, or someone else, part of the money.  That’s a scam.
  • Don’t feel pressured to act immediately.  Scammers want you to act without having time to think about what information you’re giving. Before you provide personal or financial information to a prospective employer, check out their story. Search online to see if others report problems with this employer.
  • Talk to someone you trust . Before you give any personal information, describe the offer to them. What do they think?

Report job scams to the job site and to  ReportFraud.ftc.gov .

What about the scam caregivers? I've had my fill of them!

In reply to What about the scam… by KAREN

Karen, how are you trying to find a caregiver? Maybe, go through DSHS, long term Aging agency and so on.

Well stated as it applies to so many scenarios. Probably needs to be said and resaid -appreciated!

Just recently retired caregiver here. Some states hire caregivers through DSHS. There is also a Union for them called the SEIU. You may find employment through those 2 sources. You can also verify caregiver jobs through them. You can also verify scams using social media. Specifically, Facebook. Make sure there is a large membership so as not to go to a caregiver scam. You do not need to pay for training or background checks either. You get paid for training. I a also a cybersecurity specialist and a digital forensic expert as well. Caregiving help support me while I went to school.

In reply to Just recently retired… by rick reeves

Very great information. Thank you for sharing, Rick. I'm sure this information will prove very helpful to many.

How do we stop the phone calls every day starting sometimes at 7:30 A.M. (central time). I let the answering machine take the call, they never leave a message. When tv on I have Spectrum and it shows spam call via caller ID. We get form 4 to sometimes 15 calls usually on weekdays but maybe a couple on Saturday & Sunday and as late at 8:50 P.M. We keep the landline because cell coverage is iffy. Thanks for any advice.

The scam is similar for artists. Someone will see a piece of art online and an email address to contact the artist. The artist will then receive an email saying something like: "I was up late last night scrolling the internet and came upon the gorgeous painting you created of "Hunter's Moon". Our 50th wedding anniversary is coming up and I want to surprise my wife with that lovely painting. Please email me and tell me the cost of the painting and I will send an immediate check!" You do, the check arrives, and it is made out for much more than you had quoted. You contact them and say you will rip up that check and for them to send you one for the quoted amount, and they say, "Oh no, you just deposit that one and write me another check for the overage".

Billionaire fights to dock his boat on water behind his house. His 164-foot boat, that is.

The love of the water, and a mega-yacht to enjoy it, is putting one resident at odds with village of north palm beach leaders..

mega yacht job vacancies

For some people, the ultimate Florida lifestyle is a waterfront house , a private dock and a boat parked next to it. But what if that boat is a mega-yacht , and the mega-yacht stretches 164 feet?

That's the conundrum facing the Village of North Palm Beach.

This tiny community in northern Palm Beach County, with only 13,000 full-time residents, has an identity so tied to the water that a ship's steering wheel is the village's emblem.

But it's that love of the water that is putting one resident at odds with village leaders.

For the past several years, homeowner Michael Bozutto has been battling the village for the right to park his 164-foot Westport, dubbed Honey, behind a home he owns at 932 Shore Drive.

The house, built in 1961, is a one-story, ranch-style property with three bedrooms on a half-acre lot. Bozzuto paid $840,247 for the house in 2014, according to Palm Beach County property records.

Lawsuit rooted in dispute over where to dock mega-yacht

What makes this plain house special is its location. It's on a rare corner bordered on the north and east by navigable waters that provide access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet. The east-facing dock is large enough to accommodate Bozzuto's motor yacht.

Since Bozutto bought Honey for an undisclosed sum a decade ago, he mostly has parked it at the Old Port Cove Marina, near Tiger Woods' 155-foot showy mega-yacht, ironically dubbed Privacy.

More recently, Bozzuto has wanted to park Honey alongside his Shore Drive house, one of four houses he owns in the village. While Bozzuto keeps some personal property at the Shore Drive house, he lives at a house he owns at Harbour Isles Court.

Village officials warned Bozzuto he can't park Honey at 932 Shore Drive because boats can only be parked on docks behind houses that are occupied by the homeowner.

But village rules do not define the word "occupied." For instance, the rules do not state that occupied means the house is a residence where the owner lives. Village rules also contain no restrictions on the size of boats that can be kept at private docks.

After years of pushing back against what he believes are fuzzy rules, Bozzuto in March filed a lawsuit against the village.

More: Cannonsport Marina sells for $58.5 million in big deal for tiny Palm Beach Shores

He alleged the municipality is illegally depriving him of his property rights because nothing in the village code prevents him from mooring Honey at his house. He is asking a Palm Beach County Circuit Court judge to rule that he has a constitutional right to dock Honey there.

Gregory Coleman, Bozzuto's West Palm Beach attorney, said the village has plenty of waterfront homes with yachts parked behind them. But Coleman said the village is illegally blocking Bozzuto from docking Honey at his house because the village is bending to pressure from a handful of neighbors who think the boat is too big.

The selective enforcement is wrong, said Coleman, a former president of the Florida Bar.

"He's a very under-the-radar guy who doesn't cause anybody any problems," Coleman said of Bozzuto. "He pays his property taxes, and he wants to be left alone by the village of North Palm Beach. Unfortunately, they are singling Mike out."

Neither Leonard Rubin, the village's longtime attorney, nor Village Manager Chuck Huff responded to requests for comment.

Eric Stettin, a Fort Lauderdale-based attorney who is representing the village in the Bozzuto lawsuit, said he could not comment on pending litigation.

What good is a man's castle if he can't have a boat in his moat?

Coleman's lawsuit describes the conflict as a battle over property rights, but real estate and yachting experts say it's also a sign of the times.

As wealthy new residents pour into the county wanting all the perks of the Sunshine State, they want a boat to go along with their waterfront homes and golf club memberships. Some longtime residents fear Palm Beach County is turning into a playground for billionaires, to the detriment of everyday people who also want to live in sunshine and peace.

This conflict between Old Florida and new money is an ever-present tension, but even seasoned yacht brokers say they've never seen interest in luxury yachts quite as strong as it is now.

"What we've seen in the marketplace right after COVID in the yachting industry, and especially the superyacht segment, is the most incredible growth ever seen in the history of yachting to date," said Shannon McCoy, a luxury yacht advisor and broker with Worth Avenue Yachts in Palm Beach.

"A lot of people are moving here with serious money," added Pascal Savoy, U.S. managing director of Camper & Nicholsons International yacht brokers in Fort Lauderdale.

While in the past Palm Beach County was not considered lively enough for some buyers, Savoy said the county's growing sophistication is putting it on the map in a way never seen before.

"It's a mini-Monaco for us," Savoy said.

Prices for mega-yachts can range from $18 million to $60 million, or many times that, for the largest and most decked-out mega-yachts, Savoy said.

While some yachts can be glitzy, a 164-foot Westport is considered a more low-profile boat, Savoy added.

Bozzuto's interests: Houses, boats and philanthropy

Bozzuto is no newcomer to North Palm Beach. He's been a resident of the village for 20 years.

He is the billionaire owner of a family-owned supermarket wholesaler in Connecticut, and an investor and philanthropist who likes to collect houses and yachts, Coleman said.

In addition to the four North Palm Beach houses and several yachts he owns, Bozzuto in February paid a whopping $31.1 million for a house in the Town of Palm Beach Shores. The house, which has two docks, sits just north of the Palm Beach/Lake Worth Inlet.

Coleman said there is plenty of room for other boaters to navigate the waterway when Honey is parked at the Shore Drive house in North Palm Beach. And while other people may not have as large a yacht, there are other sizeable yachts parked on docks behind other North Palm Beach homes, too, he added.

At a 2017 village council meeting, then-Mayor Darryl Aubrey commented on the issue, according to the complaint.

"When I didn't live here full time, I had a boat sitting in my dock, I was gone nine months of the year. I don't see how you can say that someone has to be in a residence year-round, seems to be some interpretation of occupant, there would be an enormous number of violations," Aubrey said.

Another member of the village council asked if the village had a definition now, the complaint said.

Rubin, the village attorney, replied: "No, we don't," according to the lawsuit.

Palm Beach County's waterways run deep, and they are popular

The yacht docking dispute is particularly timely, given the scarcity of dock space for boats of all sizes.

The most convenient place to park a boat is on the water behind a house, brokers say. But not every waterway or channel can accommodate the draft, or depth, of a mega-yacht.

However, the dock behind Bozzuto's Shore Drive house can.

Not only is the Westport not known for its deep hulls, but the waterway also is typical of northern Palm Beach County, which boasts deep water and easy access to the ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet, said Coleman, a lifelong boater.

"In Palm Beach County, they have deeper water, and it allows people to have larger yachts," Savoy agreed.

But not every waterway is deep enough for every boat.

McCoy said she specializes in helping advise potential yacht owners about the county's varied water depths before they buy a house, if they plan to dock their yacht behind it.

If yacht owners don't have a private dock, the other option is a marina. But marina space is hard to find, with many dock berths reserved for months in advance, McCoy said.

Despite the challenges of owning a boat and finding a place to dock it, yacht brokers say demand continues.

They see interest continuing from business executives moving here with their families as they relocate their companies to Palm Beach County. There's also a growing demand for yachts among female buyers, McCoy added.

They also see younger mega-yacht buyers, some even in their early 30s. This is in sharp contrast to the mostly older buyers in the past, Savoy said.

Palm Beach County may not be as go-go as Miami-Dade County when it comes to showy ships, but if interest continues, "it's coming," Savoy said. "You're going to attract bigger yachts."

Put another way: "No one needs a boat, but everyone needs a boat," McCoy said. "It's the ultimate lifestyle."

Goldman Sachs reports biggest U.K. gender pay gap in 6 years, as women earn half the average hourly wage as men

David Solomon, chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs Inc

The gap between what Goldman Sachs Group Inc. pays men and women in its UK workforce widened to its highest level in six years, underlining the difficulties the Wall Street giant has had in retaining and attracting top female talent.

The mean hourly pay difference at Goldman Sachs International rose to 54% in last year, according to a person familiar with the matter. That’s up from 53.2% the previous year and means women at the unit earn about half what men earn when comparing their average hourly pay.

The difference — which is common among investment banks — is driven by the underrepresentation of women in the bank’s most senior ranks, something the lender has long vowed it is working to improve. Women made up roughly 23% of employees in the unit’s top pay quartile in 2022, the UK data shows.

“Importantly, this gender pay gap report does not account for pay in similar role or tenure, but we know that we need to do more to increase representation of women at the senior-most levels of the firm,” a spokesperson for Goldman said.

The lack of women at Goldman’s highest levels has long been  a sore point  for the bank. No woman has ever been appointed to the role of chair, chief executive officer, president or CFO in the company’s history.

CEO David Solomon has set a target for women to comprise at least 40% of the bank’s vice presidents by 2025. Last year, 42% of the firm’s experienced hires were women, including 40% of managing director hires and 32% of vice president hires.

Still, earlier this year, when the bank tapped 25 executives as the emerging leaders who would have a say in running its sprawling trading and banking business, only three women made the cut. One of them – Beth Hammack – later announced she was leaving the bank.

The gender pay gap narrowed somewhat at the UK units of other US-based investment banks. At J.P. Morgan Securities Plc, it fell to 47% in 2023, compared with 49.3% the previous year. At Morgan Stanley & Co. International Plc, the figure slipped to 48% from 48.8%.

Gender pay gap reporting became mandatory in the UK in 2017 and has provided an insight into how far women’s earnings continue to lag behind those of men.

To be sure, the mean numbers are a blunt assessment across the whole workforce. The figures don’t measure the pay of men and women doing the same job, or adjust for other factors, such as experience or location. Rather, they tend to show which gender holds the best-paying jobs.
