After thirty-eight shows all over the United States, Lil Yachty’s “The Field Trip Tour” finally made its way to Atlanta on November 8th at the sold-out Coca-Cola Roxy inside The Battery. Held in Lil Yachty’s hometown, the performance electrified the audience beyond their wildest expectations.
Setting the stage, Yachty kicked off the show with his all-female band comprising of Téja Veal, Monica Carter, Kennedy Avery Smith, Quenequia Graves, Lea Grace Swinson, and Romana R. Sainti. In a recent interview with BET, Yachty revealed that his choice of an all-female band was driven by his beliefs of the power of women whom he believes “rule the world”.
The evening took an unexpected turn when Lil Yachty surprised the crowd by bringing out fellow Atlanta native and artist, Lil Baby. The excitement of the audience reached a new level as Lil Baby stepped into the spotlight, performing his hits such as “Freestyle” and “Heyy”.
The concert’s production quality was nothing short of incredible as Yachty incorporated impressive effects. The highlight was a cover of Phil Collins’s “In The Air Tonight.” The star-studded crowd included celebrities such as Duke Dennis and Agent 00 of AMP as they graciously took photos with their fans. Lil Yachty will now embark on the European leg of his “The Field Trip Tour” in Norway starting November 22nd.

Lil Yachty’s concrete chapter is so different, but core remains the same

Lil Yachty concluded the U.S. leg of his “The Field Trip Tour” in his hometown of Atlanta on Nov. 8 at the Coca-Cola Roxy.
The Concrete Family, a group of artists under Yachty- KARRAHBOOO , CAMO!, dc2trill, and Draft Day — opened the night as each artist performed a couple of songs. KARRAHBOOO brought out Anycia to perform the bonus song of the opening set, which was “Splash Bros,” a track released while KARRAHBOOO was on tour and the song with the most views she’s received on YouTube at 432,000.
CAMO! hosted the opening set, and Draft Day had another stand-out moment from the set by performing “Demon Time,” a popular track off Yachty’s 2020 album Lil Boat 3 .
The group then concluded by performing The Concrete Cypher from “On The Radar Radio.”
Yachty then hit the stage and performed songs off his experimental album Let’s Start Here .
The project was left field from anything Yachty has previously done and incorporated a mix of soul, funk, and rock and roll. The crowd roared and bobbed their heads to the first part of Yachty’s set before he left and let his all-Black female band rock out to a cover of Phil Collins’s “In The Air Tonight.”
He then returned to the stage to celebrate the side of him that gave him his current platform. He opened the next part of his set with “SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY” before efficiently running down seven years’ worth of his most popular rap songs. Rap or rock, Yachty showed the audience his growth from the days of receiving millions of Soundcloud plays as an underground artist also known as Lil Boat, R.D., and Darnell Boat with the red braids. His surprise guest performance was labelmate superstar Lil Baby, who performed “Heyy” and “Freestyle.”
Yachty’s Concrete Era is the artist starting from scratch on almost all fronts. His group of artists were from all over the country, as opposed to his former collective of the Sail Team, comprised of his closest friends he grew up with.
His music from the Sail Team era was mostly turn-up records with no lyrical substance. That era also had its experimental album with 2018’s Teenage Emotions. That experimental project wasn’t received as well as his latest attempt. In this latest era, Yachty’s primary producer is MitchGoneMad, also his co-host on the podcast “A Safe Place.” In attendance were notable acquaintances of Yachty’s career through all eras, including Based Savage and Baylen Levine.
The latest cast prominently featured around Yachty may appear different. However, at the base, it’s still a group of long-time collaborators and trusted colleagues with the same tangible goal of putting out the best possible product for Yachty. It’s simply a true evolution of a person and artist, and the main reason he is still relevant within the hip-hop space eight years after older rappers complained about his Internet “mumble rap” run not lasting longer than three years.

The Sudden Rise of Lil Yachty
The stylish 19-year-old rapper has made his way from obscurity in Atlanta to working with LeBron James and Kanye West.

After 18 years of trying to get noticed, the rapper and teenage eccentric Lil Yachty has been forced recently to practice blending in. It’s mostly the hair.
On a recent Saturday, following a dayslong spate of promotional appearances and photo shoots, the 19-year-old internet supernova, who found fame online and beyond this year with a series of catchy mixtapes and goofy viral moments, hoped to do a little shopping in the heart of Brooklyn.
But before he could peacefully enter Kith , the streetwear store that specializes in sneakers and sugary cereal , Lil Yachty needed to hide his trademark accessory: his grenadine-red skinny braids adorned with clear plastic beads. As his chauffeured S.U.V. approached the buzzing shop, the Atlanta rapper grabbed a knit cap from the head of a friend, who assented without a word, seemingly familiar with the routine.
It worked. Locks tucked atop his head, Lil Yachty, whose face is usually obscured by the clacking tentacles, proved unrecognizable even to those who may have binged on his whimsical music videos or Instagram account. Like a millennial Clark Kent, he went unbothered in the maw of his target demographic, drawing stares only as he stacked five pairs of shoes and two art books (“Pharrell,” “KAWS”) by the register.
As with the mini-shopping spree, there was still some thrill in needing to go undercover. “At the beginning of this year, I used to walk through the local mall and say, ‘One day, I’m not going to be able to walk through this mall,’” Lil Yachty said later in the privacy of a Caribbean restaurant, his hair since released. “No way I could walk through the mall now. Unless I’m hiding.”
Last winter, the teenager born Miles McCollum, who had recently dropped out of college and had been arrested in a Florida mall for credit card fraud, was hoping to shake his anonymity. Rapping was a relatively new pastime (it still is), though striving for fame came naturally to a diligent student of social networks.
“I always knew I was going to be something,” he said. “I didn’t know what.”
Now, at the end of a career-making 2016, Lil Yachty seems more certain. “I’m not a rapper, I’m an artist,” he said. “And I’m more than an artist. I’m a brand.”
The stats back him up. In addition to releasing the popular “Lil Boat” and “Summer Songs 2” mixtapes, filled with his taffylike digital wails and cartoon melodies, and reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his sweet-and-sour guest verse on D.R.A.M.’s “ Broccoli ,” Lil Yachty has modeled Kanye West’s Yeezy line at Madison Square Garden, starred in a Sprite commercial with LeBron James and teamed up with Nautica on a capsule collection for Urban Outfitters. An official debut album with Capitol Records is planned for early 2017.
Yet even among the bevy of singular voices in the new Atlanta hip-hop scene, where male rappers can wear dresses and carry designer bags, moan about their feelings and dance with their hips, Lil Yachty is demonstrably odd, flaunting his indifference to rap traditionalism and aiming to remain somewhat wholesome: more schoolyard than trap house.
“Rappers don’t have endorsements because of their images,” he said. “Endorsement money is huge. And I care about my character.” He added: “I don’t rap about drinking or smoking, ever, because I don’t do it. I don’t rap about anything I don’t do.”
Instead, Lil Yachty preaches an all-purpose positivity fueled by timeless adolescent ambitions: chasing girls, looking cool and hanging out with friends. (Lil Yachty’s crew is known as the Sailing Team : “If you’re a fan of me, then you know my friends, because I push them just as hard.”) His most menacing raps can feel playful, his sexuality disarmingly juvenile and his boasts betray his age: “Parents mad at my ass ’cause their kids sing my song in class,” he taunts while proclaiming himself the King of the Teens. “We are the youth!” goes another battle cry.
As with his breakout viral hits “1 Night” and “Minnesota,” Lil Yachty’s music relies less on technical rapping than on simple melodies that invoke warped nursery rhymes, with bright, bubbly production and an affecting falsetto smoothed with Auto-Tune. Along with Kanye West and Kid Cudi, both of whom count as elder statesmen to someone born in 1997, his most direct influences include the cult-favorite, outre internet rappers Lil B and Soulja Boy, along with pop acts like Coldplay, Daft Punk and Fall Out Boy.
While modeling for Nautica last month to his own personal playlist, Lil Yachty mimed air guitar to “Paradise City” by Guns N’ Roses and boogied to Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” when he wasn’t belting Chris Martin ballads. Between looks, he dined on his preferred menu of Domino’s pepperoni pizza, candy and cookies, head buried in his two Louis Vuitton-cased iPhones. (One had a hand-scrawled message: “LETS BE RICH FOREVER.”)
At the same time, Lil Yachty’s stated indifference toward the catalogs of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. has made him a punching bag for rap purists, the poster child for a style-over-substance new school dismissively dubbed “mumble rap.” He’s leaned into that mantle, so online schadenfreude bubbles up every time Lil Yachty, say, bombs a freestyle over ’90s beats or fails miserably at dunking a basketball .
“I ask myself all the time, ‘How do I always go viral?’” Lil Yachty said with a grin. “I’m the face of the youth, the new sound. Nobody likes my truth.” Except the youth, that is. “They relate to me because I’m so like them,” he said, “but on a global scale.”
Music, it turns out, was something of an afterthought, despite his deep roots in Southern rap. Though he was raised mostly by his mother in the Atlanta suburb Austell, his father, Shannon McCollum, lived in the city and worked as a photographer with local acts such as Outkast, Goodie Mob and Lil Jon. But hanging around stars as a child bolstered Lil Yachty’s sense of style and business acumen more than his sense of hip-hop history.
“I would let him help direct photo shoots, and I would always show him my invoices so he could see what I made,” Mr. McCollum, 46, said. “I used to photograph Miles every week. By 3 or 4, he was so comfortable in front of a camera.”
An obsession with fashion followed. “Once, when he was about 7, we were picking up his friend, and Miles had on a pink polo shirt,” his father recalled. “The little boy got in the back seat and started laughing uncontrollably at Miles, calling him a girl. Miles just said, ‘You don’t know nothing about this, man.’”
In high school, influenced by the bright colors favored by Pharrell Williams and Tyler, the Creator, Lil Yachty would spend the money he earned working at McDonald’s or as an assistant to his father at thrift stores. “Ninety-nine cents, 50 cents, I just knew how to put it together,” he said. His mother even taught him to sew.
His confidence and originality helped to win over his eventual manager, Coach K, an Atlanta stalwart who has worked with Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane and Migos. “It was like your first meeting with Marilyn Manson,” Coach K said of encountering Lil Yachty. “You’ve got this freakish look, but he’s not scared of who he is. He’s wearing it with pride. Instantly I said, ‘This is it.’”
Lil Yachty had already determined that packaging a mystique was his strong suit. After graduating from high school, he traveled repeatedly to New York and Los Angeles — his father’s day job at Delta gave him access to free flights — where he slept on couches and worked to ingratiate himself with rap-adjacent tastemakers like Ian Connor and Luka Sabbat .
“I was simply trying to get people who had an audience to hang out with me, so that I could get that audience,” Lil Yachty said. “I was making music, but I wasn’t really pushing it yet. I knew exactly how it worked.” He corrected himself. “I know exactly how it works .”
Still, even he has been surprised by the speed of his ascent.
“It just feels like a dream,” he said, recalling that in January, he couldn’t make it past the door of Kanye’s studio. “I sat in the hallway for hours while ASAP Rocky was in there. They wouldn’t let me in. By August, I was working with him.” Nautica, too, came calling only after a year of Lil Yachty’s attempting to get the maritime brand’s attention via social media.
It was backstage among the V.I.P.s at Jay Z’s Made in America festival in September that Lil Yachty’s new reality started to sink in. “Obama’s daughters knew who I was,” he said. “They were huge fans. Jay Z said my name to me before I introduced myself.”
And yet, persona aside, a teenager can only be a teenager.
At an Urban Outfitters meet-and-greet in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, among decidedly less dazzling guests, the rapper hid once again behind his hair and phone as overeager young fans offered him anything they could find to autograph: $5 bills, laptops, water bottles, purses, coats and, yes, eventually breasts. Not yet immune to such attention at close range, Lil Yachty could only giggle to himself, shaking his head as he mouthed the words to his own music.

Lil Yachty mugshot: Atlanta rapper speaks out after arrest for driving at more than 150 mph
A mugshot of rapper Lil Yachty has surfaced online after police arrested him in Atlanta on September 21 for reckless driving and violating the speed limit.
Police took Lil Yachty, whose real name is Miles McCollum, into custody and booked him in Atlanta City Detention Center after he was spotted driving a white Ferrari on Interstate 75 at more than 150 mph, according to WSB-TV.
Police reportedly gave his white Ferarri to a friend after they arrested him, but released him on the same day on a signature bond , according to XXL Mag.
Lil Yachty also crashed a Ferrari in June
This is not the first time that Yachty, 23, has been involved in a traffic incident due to speeding and reckless driving.
Back in June, Yachty lost control and crashed while driving a red 2020 Ferrari 488 — reportedly worth “at least $330,000” — on Interstate 75/85 north, near University Avenue.
He reportedly lost control while speeding on a wet road. He escaped with only minor injuries after his Ferrari crashed into the left median concrete wall and the right wall after spinning across seven lanes.
He was booked for excessive speeding and failing to maintain lane and then issued a warning for not having his driver’s license on him at the time of the accident.
The incident comes after the Atlanta rapper performed a socially-distanced drive-in show on August 14 at Chicago’s Lakeshore Drive-In at the Adler Planetarium.
Lil Yachty has since announced he’s no longer in jail
Rapper Lil Yachty took to Instagram yesterday to say that he was no longer in jail after police arrested him for speeding on Monday, September 21.
He uploaded a short video to Instagram that shows him in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He has thick wads of $20 bills on his lap. He tries to pile them on his shoulder as rap music plays in the background.
He then leans into the camera and shrieks with delight.
Yachty captioned the Instagram video “I’m not in jail.”

Lil Yachty also talked about the incident on TikTok: “Slow down, kids”
Lil Yachty also talked about the incident in a video posted to TikTok on Monday.
“Well, we’ve come to this. Umh… Yeah, it happened, but.. er.. not today, like… er.. two weeks ago. I don’t know how it happened. God forbid the mugshot comes out… hope it doesn’t. Slow, down kids.”
Lil Yachty is best known for singles such as One Night and Oprah’s Bank Account, a collab with DaBaby, featuring Drake.
Drake’s Reference Track From Lil Yachty Leaks Online
Drake’s reference track from Lil Yachty has leaked online and fans have some questions.
Lil Yachty is credited as a co-write on Drake’s hit song, “Jumbotron Shit Poppin.” However, fans question why the lyrics sound very similar. “Bro stole the song bar for bar, word for word..” comments one fan via X.
“We ain’t even out in Turks, she finna take sand/Ridin’ ’round with F&N, we like to hold hands,” Yachty raps on the reference track. “I was too sipped out, he ain’t leave the bed/Damn. They dipped a pint of TEC in a Code Red/If I tell this bitch to pull up, she gon’ moped it/My dawg, he don’t smoke on shit unless it’s unleaded/I don’t back and forth over no ‘net, so just go on, dead it/See me when you see me, if it’s smoke, dawg, you unleash it.”
Lil Yachty’s reference track/demo for ‘Jumbotron Sh*t Poppin’ by Drake has surfaced online The demo was allegedly sent to multiple blogs by a mysterious Atlanta number pic.twitter.com/RrdSoaySd6 — Kurrco (@Kurrco) April 15, 2024
To be fair- Yachty is credited as a writer on this track and has been very vocal about his work and friendship with Drizzy. Yachty is also credited on other Her Loss ‘ songs including “Major Distribution,” “BackOutsideBoyz,” “Privileged Rappers,” “Circo Loco,” and “P*ssy & Millions.”
There is no word on who leaked the reference track however it’s being reported that was sent to multiple blogs by an unknown Atlanta phone number.

Meet the Artists Link
Headliner Lil Yachty burst into the hip-hop scene in 2015 with his distinctive melodic rap style and catchy ad-libs. Hailing from Atlanta, Yachty quickly gained attention with his debut mixtape “Lil Boat,” which featured his breakout single “One Night” before he achieved cultural significance with later releases like “Broccoli,” “iSpy,” and “drive ME crazy!” His music draws influence from various elements of trap, pop and alternative hip-hop, while his collaborations with artists like Migos, Drake and Chance the Rapper have further solidified his place in the hip-hop landscape.
Teezo Touchdown is a genre-bending artist who has been making waves in the music industry with his unique blend of rap, rock and R&B, which mirrors the sonic turn taken by Lil Yachty on his recent album, “Let’s Start Here.” Teezo Touchdown has amassed an impressive discography, with hits like “Rooting For You” and “Third Coast,” and he’s also scored impressive collaborations with artists such as Travis Scott, Drake, Doja Cat and Tyler the Creator.
ISOxo (pronounced “is-oh-so”) is a rising star in the electronic music scene, known for his innovative sound and boundary-pushing production. Born in Los Angeles, ISOxo has quickly made a name for himself with his unique blend of trap, bass and experimental electronic music. While he first gained recognition in 2019 with his breakout single “Ground,” ISOxo has continued to release exciting new music like his debut album “kidsgonemad!” Additionally, ISOxo’s collaborations with artists like RL Grime, UZ and Hekler have only further solidified his reputation as a rising star in the electronic music scene.

Lil Yachty’s Alleged Reference Track Surfaces for Drake Song Everyone Already Knew He Co-Wrote
Yachty has been credited as a writer and co-producer on "Jumbotron Sh*t Poppin" since its 2022 release, not to mention several other 'Her Loss' tracks.
Lil Yachty ’s alleged reference track for Drake ’s solo Her Loss cut " Jumbotron Shit Poppin " is making the rounds on social media.
The alleged leak sees Yachty running through the 2022 track, the official video for which famously featured the " Summer Games " sequel denier rocking millions of dollars' worth of Pharrell's old jewelry , albeit with a number of small lyrical differences. Namely, the chorus-opening "We ain't even out in Turks" line is entirely absent.
Yachty, who also picked the cover art for Drake and 21 Savage ’s first joint album together, hadn't addressed the alleged leak at the time of this writing, nor should he be expected to do so. Akademiks, meanwhile, has claimed that Metro Boomin is involved with the alleged leak, though no such claim has been confirmed. The alleged leak appears to have first surfaced via Twitter user @notbobbalam , who claimed on Sunday that they had received it "from a random Atlanta number."
Uploaded to SoundCloud if you want it 🤷♂️ https://t.co/jdWLocCVaF — Bobbalam (@notbobbalam) April 15, 2024
Yachty, of course, has been credited as a writer on "Jumbotron Shit Poppin" since its 2022 release. In fact, Drake and Yachty are joined by 12 other names in the track's official writing credits. Her Loss ' other Yachty co-writing credits include "Major Distribution," "BackOutsideBoyz," "Privileged Rappers," "Circo Loco," and "Pussy & Millions." The best-dressed rapper of 2023 also received several co-production credits on the album, including for "Jumbotron Shit Poppin."
To be clear, circulating alleged reference tracks when it comes to Drake is not the diss some seem to think that it is. Yachty, specifically, has been vocal about his work with Drake, telling Ecleen Luzmila Caraballo for Complex just last September that it "just so happens that one of my friends is one of the biggest artists in the world." Not to mention, and as we just established above, the credits for such work are publicly available.
To be even clearer, and speaking more generally here, a writing credit on any given song doesn’t necessarily mean that the individual being credited contributed substantially to the composition in question, nor does it negate the contributions of the main artist. A credit can come about by something as simple as being in the room and bouncing ideas at the time of a song's creation.
Furthermore, to still be hung up on songs that boast multiple writing credits ignores the fact that this practice is (and has been) employed across all genres, from rock (blink-182’s latest No. 1 album is a fine example of this collaborative approach) to country (Morgan Wallen’s "Last Night" counts four writers, none of whom are Wallen) to, yes, rap.
In short, sharing an alleged reference track proves nothing other than a straws-grasping approach being employed by some amid the battle for the Drakeiverse.

Lil Yachty gives Coachella a sneak preview of his Nike Air Force 1 collaboration
A member of the 2016 XXL Freshman Class , Lil Yachty was first recognized for his pop-rap, upbeat musical style and bubbly, energetic personality. He made a bit of a shift in his rap genre, taking a different approach with his psychedelic-inspired Let's Start Here album released in January 2023. Despite being largely associated as one of the mid-2010s hottest acts, Lil Yachty has been able to remain relevant and find new ways to stand out from the rest.
Lil Yachty went all out for his 2024 Coachella appearance , bringing out an actual boat on-stage with him during his performance. But aside from wowing the crowd with a gigantic boat prop, Lil Yachty's eye-catching shoes garnered attention from interested sneakerheads. Comfortably seated atop his ship reading "LILBOAT", the 26-year-old rapper had on a pair of Nike Air Force 1s in a "Yellow/Green/Red" colorway.
Lil Yachty has been on quite the roll as of late, associating his name with interesting collaborations. In fact, he recently unveiled a new " Remix Menu " in partnership with McDonald's Canada, which has seen him featured in a TV spot where he raps along to numerous McD's items. Lil Yachty spent some time in his early days working at a McDonald's in his hometown of Atlanta, where he said this about his newly minted partnership:
Going from working at a McDonald’s in Atlanta to collaborating on the Remix Menu Song with McDonald’s Canada is a wild full circle moment that brought back memories and is such a reminder that anything in life can happenLil Yachty via McDonald's Canada
And now, it seems Lil Yachty is dipping his hand back in the shoe game with these teased AF1s colorways. The "Yellow/Green/Red" iteration of what is seemingly a Friends and Family exclusive at the moment is a far cry from Lil Yachty's last AF1 sneaker that made headlines in the Fall of last year. This AF1 in question looked more like a slightly remixed basic White Air Force 1, with some navy accents. And, Lil Yachty's signature Concrete Boys logo embroidered on the side, while the tongue tab and insole read "IT'S US".
But now, Lil Yachty is bringing a little bit more flair and dynamism to his exclusive line of AF1s. Taking direct inspiration from Bape fashion designer and creator Nigo, Lil Yachty has implemented the iconic Bapesta touch to his new set of Air Force 1 sneakers, complete with the radiant look and glossy leather finish. Aside from this one set of AF1s, Lil Yachty also teased a few more colorways on his Instagram , including "White/Orange", "Black/Purple", and "Black/Red" silhouettes.
Currently, there's limited information available regarding the potential general public release of these Lil Yachty sneakers. However, given his increasing influence in pop culture with each new project, it wouldn't be unexpected to witness these kicks being launched by Nike during the summer of 2024.

Potential Evidence Leaks Proving Drake Didn’t Write ‘Jumbotron S**t Poppin,’ Lil Yachty Did
Audio of Lil Yachty rapping Drake 's lyrics to the Her Loss song "Jumbotron S**t Poppin" in a reference track has leaked.
"Jumbotron S**t Poppin" Reference Leaks
Drake is seemingly in a battle with half of the music industry as several artists have recently formed like Voltron to go against the 6 God. In the latest apparent attempt to assassinate Drizzy's character, someone has leaked a reference track that finds Lil Yachty rapping the lines to Aubrey's "Jumbotron S**t Poppin." In the leak, which can be heard below, Boat raps the exact same lines as Drake does, except he says "I was too sipped out," where Drake changed the lyrics to "Boat was so sipped out."
"We ain't even out in Turks, she finna take sand/Ridin' 'round with F&N, we like to hold hands," Yachty raps in the clip below. "I was too sipped out, he ain't leave the bed/Damn, they dipped a pint of TEC in a Code Red/If I tell this bitch to pull up, she gon' moped it/My dawg, he don't smoke on shit unless it's unleaded/I don't back and forth over no 'net, so just go on, dead it/See me when you see me, if it's smoke, dawg, you unleash it."
This wouldn't be the first time Drake has faced a ghostwriting scandal. Back in 2015, he was infamously accused by Meek Mill of having a writer, who turned out to be Atlanta artist Quentin Miller.

Who leaked the reference track.
Word on road is that the leak was sent to multiple blogs by an unknown Atlanta phone number. Controversial streamer DJ Akademiks has gone so far as to surmise the leak was delivered by none other than Metro Boomin.
After being dissed by several artists on Future and Metro Boomin's We Don't Trust You and We Still Don't Trust You albums, Drake clapped back at his detractors over the weekend with the diss song "Drop and Give Me 50," which finds him taking aim at Kendrick Lamar, Future, The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross and others. Rick Ross has already responded with his own song "Champagne Moments."
