ROBERT ‘ROBBIE’ SARGENT Originally from Zimbabwe, Robbie was brought up on a farm with a love for the outdoors, sport and a keen sense for adventure. His hobbies also include golf and darts but his favorite from a young age was and always has been fishing, whether it’s fresh water or deep sea. After school, he moved to South Africa to play professional rugby, but it was not long before he decided on it being an unlikely permanent career choice. He turned towards scuba diving instead, despite the cold waters of Cape Town and worked his way up to becoming an instructor. After a few years of this, Robbie grew keen to search for warmer water to dive in and accepted a job in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. The travel bug set in, Captain’s ticket in hand and many nautical miles later, there is nothing that Robbie loves more than finding new places to have fun in, both above and under the water. Working throughout studying within restaurants and catering, it gave her an opportunity to build up experience in hospitality, develop professionalism within the service industry but most of all appreciate different cuisines. After graduating from University of Cape Town, South Africa with a Social Science degree, Sofia realized she wasn’t motivated towards a formal office setting and sought after a career in which she could combine her love of travel with learning new skills. Discovering the world of yachting she has since worked in the Mediterranean, Australia, Indonesia, Florida and the Caribbean. Being able to explore new places and gain a passion for cooking along the way has been a dream realized. Robbie and Sofie met in Singapore, soon found common ground of similar roots and have been working together within the industry since then for the last 5 years. Their combined passion for food, travel and most of all the ocean has brought them together to love what they do. They have been lucky enough to get to know some extraordinary, remote locations around the world but also appreciate being able to share time with family and friends in their home country, Zimbabwe. As a team, they love being able to entertain, share stories and meet new people to learn theirs. Robbie and Sofie are keen on keeping charters light-hearted while making it a priority to go above and beyond so that their guests always have an adventure to remember. He soon got the bug for traveling and particularly wanted to pursue his passion of sport fishing. He then joined a travelling sport fishing boat in 2013 and hasn’t stopped moving since. Dean got his Captain’s License shortly after that and started driving boats in remote areas. He has had the pleasure to fish competitively and recreationally in all oceans with some of the best crews in the world and gained a huge appreciation for the ocean and all things Maritime. Lagoon 50 (2023) 'Echo'

Lagoon 50 charter catamaran f eatures:

The large, open-plan, aft cockpit of the Lagoon 50 catamaran features an L-shaped lounge area that is very comfortable for general leisure and provides uninterrupted views of the ocean beyond. In the evening, the cockpit can be transformed into a fabulous dining area, seating a large number of guests for dinner, and a small wet bar with a sink and ice maker is perfectly placed for serving drinks. Plus, the carefully designed steps provide easy access from the lower stern platform.

There is a spacious helm station with a centre steering wheel to ensure the best possible visibility on the raised flybridge. A large sundeck is positioned just behind the wheel to allow the helmsman to drive, whilst enjoying the company of a partner or guests relaxing nearby.

The Lagoon 50 is a dream to sail. The central mast is positioned further aft to help reduce pitching and the tall, high-aspect mainsail provides excellent performance. Shorthanded crews will benefit from the large self-tacking headsail and  a short and easy-to-reef boom .

The Lagoon 50 catamaran’s large and spacious saloon is truly unique. The well-equipped galley is positioned aft and looks onto the elevated saloon area for a fabulous open-plan living space. The slightly raised lounge with large glazing provides panoramic views that can be enjoyed whether sitting or standing. Furthermore, the comfortable, deluxe seating area features a clever fold-away table that can be adjusted in height to be suitable as a dining table or coffee table. This creates the perfect dining area that can be used by cr ew s large or small.

There are 4 sumptuous double cabins and an additional two compact doubles amidships. Each cabin has its own head and shower. There is a skipper’s cabin in the port bow and a head and shower in the starboard bow.

Whether you are a group of 4 or a group of 10 (+), this is a spectacular cat to purr around the BVI in.

Did you know Horizon’s charters start and finish at noon? This means we can get you out sailing your first afternoon after your briefings – remember to watch your video briefings to speed up your check out! At the end of your trip, you sail back to Nanny Cay to refuel and debrief before your noon departure. This gives you a full 6 nights/7 days chartering around our beautiful islands, unlike some companies that start at 5pm, meaning you will have to sleepaboard* at the docks, and then finish at 10am, again meaning you will probably have to stay overnight on the docks the night before you leave to fly home.

*If available, a sleep aboard can be added the night before your charter start for a small supplement, boarding your yacht after 5pm.

Our standard charter rates are applicable for charters of 5 days or more up to a maximum of five weeks. For a tailored quote for charter durations outside this range please contact our reservations team who will be pleased to assits.

Horizon Yacht Charters BVI Charter Rates are listed above. Yacht photographs and specifications act as a guide and are for information purposes only.  Although we endeavour to ensure that images are accurate reflections of the yachts in our fleet, certain aspects may vary slightly, such as yacht deck, the colour of the hull, dodger or bimini.

All yachts come with rigid inflatables & outboards, biminis, BBQ, Stereo, GPS, linens, towels, safety & galley equipment etc. See  What’s Included  for a full list.

May we advise that HDW insurance, Cruising Permits and National Parks Permit are payable before departure from the dock in cash or travellers’ cheques, as using a Credit Card will incur a 5% surcharge. Upon return of the vessel, you are required to top off the water and fuel tanks, which you receive full upon boarding the vessel.

BVI Charter Rates shown above are for 6 nights per vessel (min 5 nights except for Christmas and New Year min 7 nights + supplements on selected yachts) with the additional daily rate should you wish to add nights. BVI Charters start and finish at noon. Sleep-aboard (the option of staying on board your yacht at the dock) with the boarding of your vessel available after 5.00 pm, can sometimes be added to the start of your charter at an extra charge of $75.00 per head per night (minimum of $200.00 per night), depending upon yacht availability.

• Hull Damage Waiver Insurance is compulsory for $60.00 (max $600) per day for Monohulls and $70.00 (max $700) per day for Catamarans. Security deposit is $2000 for monohulls and cats 41ft and under, and $5000 for cats 42ft plus. This limits your liability to the security deposit (either $2000 or $5000) per incident relating to the yacht and 3% of hull value per incident if in contravention of the Client Responsibility Agreement or the Charter Contract.
• Skippers  are available from $225.00 per day, Instructors from $275.00 per day and Cooks from $225.00 per day (plus food and gratuity).
• Provisioning – Please refer to our  provisioning page  for more information.
• Windsurfing, kayaks, hammock rentals, SCUBA gear or other water sports  are all available at competitive rates.  Click here for more information.
• Hotel Accommodations throughout the islands can be arranged. Most major credit cards are accepted.  Please check our Accommodations page for more information.
• Learn to Sail – we are an ASA-affiliated Instructing Facility – Please request more details on our courses or click here for more information.

An Environmental levy of $10 per head is payable by all visitors to the BVI on arrival (effective 1st Sept 2017).

Bookings and Cancellations – We require a 50% deposit to confirm the reservation and the balance due of 50% should be received by Horizon Yacht Charters no later than 45 days prior to the charter start date. A full refund less a $200.00 administration fee is given should the reservation be cancelled in writing up to 90 days prior to the charter start date. If the charter is cancelled within 90 days of the charter start date, then a full refund (less $200.00) is made subject to Horizon Yacht Charters reselling the charter space reserved.

Licensed for 6 persons, this 15ft RIB with 60HP Yamaha outboard will get you and your crew to snorkelling spots and the beach in style and comfort.

Make your charter yacht vacation a breeze – enjoy the comfort of being able to tie up your yacht for the night and then continue exploring the surrounding bays! You can pick up your mooring ball at the Bight and then head to the Indians or the Caves for a snorkel. If you visit the Dogs, there’s no need to choose only one snorkel spot for your lunch stop, zip around them all!  A swim ladder makes boarding easy from the water.

For popular spots where it’s trickier to find a mooring, the RIB is the perfect alternative. Settle into Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke for the night and then take the RIB to White Bay for the afternoon to enjoy painkillers without the hassle of finding a mooring ball or having to move your yacht for the night.

The North Sound boasts a selection of some of the best dining options in the BVI. There’s no need to settle for only one spot when you have the RIB. Pick up provisions from Leverick Bay, enjoy the plunge pool at Nova in Deep Bay, and then zip back to the sound for sundowners at Saba Rock before enjoying dinner at The Bitter End.

If you have a mix of snorkelers, beachgoers, shoppers and sailors onboard then give your group flexibility by taking the standard dinghy included in your charter as well. This will also remove the need to make multiple dinghy trips ashore for larger groups.

Captain: Stjepan Marinkovic

Stjepan is a versatile person with an eclectic mindset. With a spirit for adventure, he always finds some new, untrodden road. This adventurous spark led him throughout his life, and so he dabbled in many things, such as speleology, rafting, kayaking, free climbing, diving, martial arts, and many more disciplines. Along with physical activities, he enjoys reading, writing, studying languages and disassembling and assembling things. All these combined made him a knowledgeable and inventive sailor. Through his studies as an archaeologist, he got opportunities to travel and explore outback places and exotic locales, where he learned about many facets of local culture and folklore. Although he was always in touch with the sea, his love bloomed during an epic sailing voyage across the Mediterranean, following in the footsteps of ancient Phoenicians and Greeks. The sea called, and he could do nothing but answer. Now he takes guests on fantastic sailing adventures hoping to spark that same love that drives him. Stjepan is the happiest with the salty breeze on his face, and the horizon empty before him. Polite and curious, he enjoys stories that people tell and is always willing to listen. Ana is a unique individual with a passion for food, novelty and adventure. She has travelled extensively looking for new recipes and trying out local cuisine. She explored the street food of Thailand and India, undertook a food safari in Africa. She hunted the myriad cheeses of France and Switzerland, sailed through the Mediterranean spices and seafood, and participated in Middle-Eastern festivities followed by local food and culture. She believes that food is the best way for people to communicate and share culture, and at uni she studied International Relations to research that belief even further. She is an active individual who is thrilled by exploration. She is well-versed in biology, zoology and the natural world, and you can often catch her admiring some animal she finds fascinating, from insects to birds - she loves them all. Ana worked as an adventure guide and hostess on sailing tours in an adventure travel company in Croatia, thrilling her guests with unexpected snacks and attentive personality. Health was always her primary mission in life, and she radiates it in all aspects of her life, from her tidiness, to her cuisine. She caters confidently to any and all dietary needs, and her love of life, food and nature would leave anyone inspired.

Stjepan is the happiest with the salty breeze on his face, and the horizon empty before him. Polite and curious, he enjoys stories that people tell and is always willing to listen.<br /> <br /> Ana is a unique individual with a passion for food, novelty and adventure. She has travelled extensively looking for new recipes and trying out local cuisine. She explored the street food of Thailand and India, undertook a food safari in Africa. She hunted the myriad cheeses of France and Switzerland, sailed through the Mediterranean spices and seafood, and participated in Middle-Eastern festivities followed by local food and culture.
