Mrs Traveller and I opted for Yachtsman Grill for a romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary and I genuinely believe we couldn't have found anywhere better on Nevis. We arrived early to enjoy a sundowner cocktail or two and were welcomed by the staff who... were friendly and attentive but never overbearing. The house cocktails here are both inventive and delicious (you have to try the "Ring 'um, Ding 'um, Sting 'um" just to say that you have!) as is the potent rum punch. Food-wise, I had the crispy calamari to start while Mrs T went for the coconut shrimp: both were excellent. For mains we had BBQ pork ribs and pasta with shrimp and again each was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and super-tasty. I was flying solo for dessert, but the server brought us two spoons (damn!) with my lava chocolate cake and Bailey's ice cream. Armed with a spoon, my wife couldn't resist the tempatation. I couldn't blame her - this a was a fantastic end to the meal. We truly had the perfect annivesary meal at Yachtsman Grill and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone staying on Nevis. More

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and wine at the Yachtsman Grill last night. It was Friday night and the restaurant was offering low-priced, incredible specials (until the end of January) on lobster rolls, fried seafood platter, pizza, etc. The service was excellent and Denzil and... the entire Yachtsman Grill staff were friendly and attentive. Drink specials were on from 5 pm to 7 pm including two for one Carib beer and select wines. A talented, steel pan musician provided lovely Caribbean music while we dined. We and our fellow customers toasted our good fortune at being in such a peaceful, spectacular, Covid-free location while watching the glorious sunset from our table in beautiful Nevis. More

It's nice to take a break from fine dining to enjoy a pizza, especially when the pizza turns out to be fine dining! Turning out a perfect thin crust pizza in a wood oven is an art, and the woman at the oven is an... artist. The service and ambience were great, so we decided to come back to sample some of their other dishes. Another great meal! Congrats to Yachtsman Grill - keep up the good work. More

I ordered a vegetarian pizza plus BACON, (this was a takeaway) When I opened the box I asked my husband where is the bacon? Guess what,? silly me, there were miniscule crumbled and shredded bits of cooked bacon fat on the pizza, almost invisible to... see but bad, bad, bad, for your health. Next time when you are asked for bacon or advertise bacon as an extra (not free, I might add) Put BACON on the pizza and not crumbs of fat. Never eat them again. More

My wife and our friends ended up here shortly after Covid as it was the only place open and had AMAZING vegan options. We were not let down in any capacity and continue to come back here. The food is absolutely delicious. The vegan options... are the best I’ve in a long time. The vegan’s delight pizza and the spaghetti and beyond meatballs are our go to’s. They also have vegan donuts and breads you can order ahead for and dairy free ice cream that’s delicious The seasoned fries are delicious too. What keeps us coming back though is more than the food. We come back for the outstanding service we receive from Nykiesha, the best wait staff ever! She is so friendly and accommodating even when we ask her to get us 100 different dipping sauces and drink refills. We always come back and hope she’s working, sometimes we will even call ahead to make sure she’s there. Nykiesha is wonderful, I highly recommend asking to be seated with her when you arrive, you will be so happy you did! I can’t say enough good things about her! More

Four of us enjoyed fast, friendly service and a wonderful lunch and dinner at the Yachtsman Grill in Nevis this week. The Yachtsman Grill is located on the beach at the Hamilton Beach Villas in Nevis just down the road from the Four Seasons resort.... The Yachtsman's thin crust "Meat-Lovers" pizza and the cheese and pepperoni pizza. were delicious. We also had fresh, yummy salads, chicken soft tacos and fish tacos and the mahi-mahi special with grilled vegetables . Everything was excellent. More

...on this beautiful Friday night under the full moon in Nevis. The two of us sat down at one of the outdoor tables in clear view of all of the wait staff. The restaurant was not very busy (maybe 15 other customers in all some... of whom had already been served). We waited about 10 minutes for service with no one on staff even acknowledging that we were there and then decided to go home and open our own bottle of wine instead of waiting for the Yachtsman staff to take our order. More

We had a great meal. Large salad and bruschetta to share. The Mrs. had the Mahi and me the Wahoo, both served similar and with tasty sauce. Mine was a little on the overdone side, but still good. Great server and even spent some time... with the resident cat! Next time we will come back for the pizza, which looked great while peaking into their open kitchen. More

Eight of us ate at Yachtsman Grill twice in our stay on Nevis - first as a takeaway on our first night and then lunch on our last day. Very good thin pizzas and lobster mac n'cheese. Good service, nice atmosphere.

Decided a few years ago that we would not go back to this restaurant. There are so many other options on island but we decided to return after a long hiatus away - again because of the price of some of the items and the... lack of staff ability to read the situation and recover. Had the steak at $45 and my friend ordered the whole snapper @$32. We waited for our orders and received them. My steak was just ok, and my friend’s whole snapper was about 9” long including the head and tail fins. If you know whole snapper then you can appreciate how terribly small that is. A total rip Off for the price. More effort to eat it than it provides in meat. We commented the same to the server at the end of dinner. The server came back 5to the table after having cleared away dinner plates, to ask if my friend wanted another snapper. At that point after having already eaten, it wasn’t a feasible or desirable solution for us to wait again for another snapper to be prepared. We declined and I asked for another glass of red wine for my friend. It Would have been a nice gesture if they had comped that glass for my friend but it was not offered and everything appeared on the bill. We paid in full but have decided we will give this place a pass in future. More

We came to lunch, informed them we were meeting someone they sat us and never came back till like 15 mins after to ask if we are ready to order or continue to wait. We were never offered water or a drink while waiting. We... ordered there was scales all on and inside of my grilled snapper, there was no seasoning, the waitress said thats how its cooked and you season your own fish with salt at the table. Crazy. Mind you im into hospitality as well, holding a position. While still eating the bill we brought to the table without asking which was very weird. There were empty glasses on the table which was never cleared even after sitting there for 30 xtra minutes chatting. A waiter came to the table 5 mins after the bill was dropped off and asked if we took the necessary steps to paying the bill. Please note someone on the table is still eating. We asked why dont you try clearing the table with all the empties, he responded the bill is more important. Up to this day no one cleared the table. We left with everything still on the table. I expected better. I used to love this place. Will not return More

We ate at Yactsman on our holiday for all meals, breakfast was included in our booking, this was fresh and poached eggs just made perfectly. The lunchtime pizza was delicious, and made in their own pizza oven. Dinner was fantastic, great flavours and good quality... ingredients. The only thing I would say is that it is pricey, however I think a lot of the nicer places on the island are comparable More

Some of my favorite dishes include the Lobster Roll, Island Caesar Salad with Scallops, and the Caribbean Pride pizza. I enjoy the wide selection of wines and drinks. The bartenders are well versed in knowledge and can always offer solid advice on a good drink... depending on what you're feeling for. The staff is hospitable and always problem solving oriented. A group of friends and I decided to go for Brunch. Silly ole me forgot to make the reservation for our table of 8. Thankful the restaurant manager, Kisean, was kind enough to ensure that our plans weren't ruined. More

For part of our vacation we stayed at the Four Seasons. The best thing you can do is get off property and explore. One evening we ate at the Yachtsman Grill and I were so happy we did. The fish is wonderfully prepared, not chewy... or dry. Wine selection was decent and not too expensive. The meatball appetizer was not that great. The coconut lime sorbet was a perfect way to end this memorable meal. Come just before Sunset to get the full effect! More

This is by far the most incredible turnaround a restaurant has ever had. The owners have put their hearts into the menu, wine list, decor, and service. The vibe is amazing and the menu keeps getting better every year. On New Year's Eve, they put... off fireworks at 9:00 so people could enjoy before the Four Seasons show. Every year I look forward to going to Nevis because of this restaurant and the friendly faces I see there. Thank you! Katie More

Mrs Traveller and I opted for Yachtsman Grill for a romantic dinner to celebrate our anniversary and I genuinely believe we couldn't have found anywhere better on Nevis. We arrived early to enjoy a sundowner cocktail or two and were welcomed by the staff who... were friendly and attentive but never overbearing. The house cocktails here are both inventive and delicious (you have to try the "Ring 'um, Ding 'um, Sting 'um" just to say that you have!) as is the potent rum punch. Food-wise, I had the crispy calamari to start while Mrs T went for the coconut shrimp: both were excellent. For mains we had BBQ pork ribs and pasta with shrimp and again each was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and super-tasty. I was flying solo for dessert, but the server brought us two spoons (damn!) with my lava chocolate cake and Bailey's ice cream. Armed with a spoon, my wife couldn't resist the tempatation. I couldn't blame her - this a was a fantastic end to the meal. We truly had the perfect annivesary meal at Yachtsman Grill and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone staying on Nevis. More

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and wine at the Yachtsman Grill last night. It was Friday night and the restaurant was offering low-priced, incredible specials (until the end of January) on lobster rolls, fried seafood platter, pizza, etc. The service was excellent and Denzil and... the entire Yachtsman Grill staff were friendly and attentive. Drink specials were on from 5 pm to 7 pm including two for one Carib beer and select wines. A talented, steel pan musician provided lovely Caribbean music while we dined. We and our fellow customers toasted our good fortune at being in such a peaceful, spectacular, Covid-free location while watching the glorious sunset from our table in beautiful Nevis. More

It's nice to take a break from fine dining to enjoy a pizza, especially when the pizza turns out to be fine dining! Turning out a perfect thin crust pizza in a wood oven is an art, and the woman at the oven is an... artist. The service and ambience were great, so we decided to come back to sample some of their other dishes. Another great meal! Congrats to Yachtsman Grill - keep up the good work. More

I ordered a vegetarian pizza plus BACON, (this was a takeaway) When I opened the box I asked my husband where is the bacon? Guess what,? silly me, there were miniscule crumbled and shredded bits of cooked bacon fat on the pizza, almost invisible to... see but bad, bad, bad, for your health. Next time when you are asked for bacon or advertise bacon as an extra (not free, I might add) Put BACON on the pizza and not crumbs of fat. Never eat them again. More

My wife and our friends ended up here shortly after Covid as it was the only place open and had AMAZING vegan options. We were not let down in any capacity and continue to come back here. The food is absolutely delicious. The vegan options... are the best I’ve in a long time. The vegan’s delight pizza and the spaghetti and beyond meatballs are our go to’s. They also have vegan donuts and breads you can order ahead for and dairy free ice cream that’s delicious The seasoned fries are delicious too. What keeps us coming back though is more than the food. We come back for the outstanding service we receive from Nykiesha, the best wait staff ever! She is so friendly and accommodating even when we ask her to get us 100 different dipping sauces and drink refills. We always come back and hope she’s working, sometimes we will even call ahead to make sure she’s there. Nykiesha is wonderful, I highly recommend asking to be seated with her when you arrive, you will be so happy you did! I can’t say enough good things about her! More

Four of us enjoyed fast, friendly service and a wonderful lunch and dinner at the Yachtsman Grill in Nevis this week. The Yachtsman Grill is located on the beach at the Hamilton Beach Villas in Nevis just down the road from the Four Seasons resort.... The Yachtsman's thin crust "Meat-Lovers" pizza and the cheese and pepperoni pizza. were delicious. We also had fresh, yummy salads, chicken soft tacos and fish tacos and the mahi-mahi special with grilled vegetables . Everything was excellent. More

...on this beautiful Friday night under the full moon in Nevis. The two of us sat down at one of the outdoor tables in clear view of all of the wait staff. The restaurant was not very busy (maybe 15 other customers in all some... of whom had already been served). We waited about 10 minutes for service with no one on staff even acknowledging that we were there and then decided to go home and open our own bottle of wine instead of waiting for the Yachtsman staff to take our order. We had a great meal. Large salad and bruschetta to share. The Mrs. had the Mahi and me the Wahoo, both served similar and with tasty sauce. Mine was a little on the overdone side, but still good. Great server and even spent some time... with the resident cat! Next time we will come back for the pizza, which looked great while peaking into their open kitchen. More

Eight of us ate at Yachtsman Grill twice in our stay on Nevis - first as a takeaway on our first night and then lunch on our last day. Very good thin pizzas and lobster mac n'cheese. Good service, nice atmosphere.

Decided a few years ago that we would not go back to this restaurant. There are so many other options on island but we decided to return after a long hiatus away - again because of the price of some of the items and the... lack of staff ability to read the situation and recover. Had the steak at $45 and my friend ordered the whole snapper @$32. We waited for our orders and received them. My steak was just ok, and my friend’s whole snapper was about 9” long including the head and tail fins. If you know whole snapper then you can appreciate how terribly small that is. A total rip Off for the price. More effort to eat it than it provides in meat. We commented the same to the server at the end of dinner. The server came back 5to the table after having cleared away dinner plates, to ask if my friend wanted another snapper. At that point after having already eaten, it wasn’t a feasible or desirable solution for us to wait again for another snapper to be prepared. We declined and I asked for another glass of red wine for my friend. It Would have been a nice gesture if they had comped that glass for my friend but it was not offered and everything appeared on the bill. We paid in full but have decided we will give this place a pass in future. More

We came to lunch, informed them we were meeting someone they sat us and never came back till like 15 mins after to ask if we are ready to order or continue to wait. We were never offered water or a drink while waiting. We... ordered there was scales all on and inside of my grilled snapper, there was no seasoning, the waitress said thats how its cooked and you season your own fish with salt at the table. Crazy. Mind you im into hospitality as well, holding a position. While still eating the bill we brought to the table without asking which was very weird. There were empty glasses on the table which was never cleared even after sitting there for 30 xtra minutes chatting. A waiter came to the table 5 mins after the bill was dropped off and asked if we took the necessary steps to paying the bill. Please note someone on the table is still eating. We asked why dont you try clearing the table with all the empties, he responded the bill is more important. Up to this day no one cleared the table. We left with everything still on the table. I expected better. I used to love this place. Will not return More

We ate at Yactsman on our holiday for all meals, breakfast was included in our booking, this was fresh and poached eggs just made perfectly. The lunchtime pizza was delicious, and made in their own pizza oven. Dinner was fantastic, great flavours and good quality... ingredients. Some of my favorite dishes include the Lobster Roll, Island Caesar Salad with Scallops, and the Caribbean Pride pizza. I enjoy the wide selection of wines and drinks. The bartenders are well versed in knowledge and can always offer solid advice on a good drink... depending on what you're feeling for. The staff is hospitable and always problem solving oriented. A group of friends and I decided to go for Brunch. Silly ole me forgot to make the reservation for our table of 8. Thankful the restaurant manager, Kisean, was kind enough to ensure that our plans weren't ruined. More

For part of our vacation we stayed at the Four Seasons. The best thing you can do is get off property and explore. One evening we ate at the Yachtsman Grill and I were so happy we did. The fish is wonderfully prepared, not chewy... or dry. Wine selection was decent and not too expensive. The meatball appetizer was not that great. The coconut lime sorbet was a perfect way to end this memorable meal. Come just before Sunset to get the full effect! More

This is by far the most incredible turnaround a restaurant has ever had. The owners have put their hearts into the menu, wine list, decor, and service. The vibe is amazing and the menu keeps getting better every year. On New Year's Eve, they put... off fireworks at 9:00 so people could enjoy before the Four Seasons show. “Cold food, bad service, low quality” Review of Yachtsman Grill

The food took two hours to come out and was cold and at best mediocre. I would recommend many places above this one. The food doesn’t compare to other places on the island, it’s expensive, and the service isn’t ideal. Don’t waste your time, go somewhere better.

We were visiting the Yachtsman Grill with family after spending some time on the adjacent beach and in the sea & we had worked up quite an appetite! We opted for Pizza as they were being made expertly in the forefront of the restaurant by the Yachtsman Pizza Chef , Sarai and believe you me these pizza’s were fantastic for the three adults in our family & even better for our two hungry nieces! We were looked after incredibly well by June and Reneaka who were very attentive and lovely too . We adults had a couple of cocktails beautifully prepared and presented & alcohol free Pina Colada’s made for the kids by the bar staff inc Morris & Kamal who again were very attentive.. The restaurant manageress Jammila was super friendly and along with her fabulous staff were an absolute credit to The Yachtsman Grill .. Ps We were so impressed that we came back for dinner & breakfast on other days and as previously stated the service was excellent , from Reneaka and June in particular who were outstanding…

We came here several times to have drinks, dinner, lunch or breakkie. The service is great. The food is also delicious. We also had my aunt’s dinner birthday here. I ordered a oatmeal. I saw in the menu that it is vegan (I am lactose intolerant), so I ordered it. When it came to the table I asked if it is vegan and the waitress said no. I told her I thought it was vegan. She told me that there is a non vegan and a vegan option. The waitress was soooooooo friendly. Thank you, ma’am. She then brought me the vegan oatmeal.

Second time we tried dinner there in the last several months and again it was disappointing. Last visit months ago the food I ordered, Lobster Mac & Cheese, seemed to have been created the day prior and used again the next day. Dried out and tired tasting. Now again ordered the Ribs, knowing how some places do a poor job of cooking them, I asked if the ribs were “falling off the bone”, was assured they were. So tough I had to ask for a steak knife to cut them. Basically a throw out meal. The “Rum Punch” I ordered was the worst I’ve ever had on Nevis. If the restaurant wants to survive they’ed better step up their game, right now will not return.

It has a limited menu, and the staff is very casual, sometimes too casual, in speaking to each other, but the food is what you expect for a small place on the beach. The view is perfect, the set up is nice, and the area is beautiful!

We have teamed up with blogger and travel writer charli moore to provide you with an insider’s guide to our beautiful island’s activities and attractions. she’ll also be reviewing nevis’ varied array of eateries and beach bars; here she talks to greg slagon, owner of the all-american yachtsman grill..

Swapping the frigid landscapes of America’s Midwest for the rain-forested idylls of Nevis, adventurous aeronaut and prolific traveler Greg Slagon arrived on the island with no real plan as to how he would invest himself in the tight-knit Nevisian community. Launching the Yachtsman Grill some seven years ago, he and his wife Evelyn have created a vibrant, nautical-inspired hideaway serving wholesome American favorites to visitors and locals alike.

A bold menu of big burgers, steaks, and fresh seafood, coupled with what Greg believes to be the island’s most comprehensive wine cellar and selection of bottled and on-tap beers, gastronomes will be in seventh heaven when dining at the Yachtsman Grill. Pick-your-own local or Maine lobster from a tank by the bar, or sample one of their famous wood-fired, thin-crust pizzas that boast all-Italian ingredients from the flour in the base right through to the pepperoni on top. Head out onto the manicured beach-front and relax on one of the comfy sunbeds, or work up an appetite playing beach-basketball, volleyball, and the bean bag toss.

What would you recommend to first time diners? Greg says, “For a true taste of the Caribbean choose from our collection of rums and ask our bartender Denzel to mix a cocktail of your choice. Our righteous lobster mac and cheese is a real hit with diners young and old, and the wood-fired pizzas are a must-try from our menu!”

Tell me something interesting about yourself: “I’m a really creative guy. I design and make a lot of graphic signage for companies all over the island. I made our Yachtsman Grill sign out there on the road, pretty cool don’t you think?”

What is your favorite place or activity on Nevis? “I’m probably biased, but I think there’s no better way to see the island than aboard a Funky Monkey Tour . We offer small group adventures in open-air Polaris 4x4s and showcase the island’s best on and off-road sights; from beach and bush, to resorts and ruins.”

We ate at Yactsman on our holiday for all meals, breakfast was included in our booking, this was fresh and poached eggs just made perfectly. Some of my favorite dishes include the Lobster Roll, Island Caesar Salad with Scallops, and the Caribbean Pride pizza. I enjoy the wide selection of wines and drinks. The bartenders are well versed in knowledge and can always offer solid advice on a good drink... depending on what you're feeling for. The staff is hospitable and always problem solving oriented. For part of our vacation we stayed at the Four Seasons. The best thing you can do is get off property and explore. One evening we ate at the Yachtsman Grill and I were so happy we did. The fish is wonderfully prepared, not chewy... or dry. Wine selection was decent and not too expensive. The meatball appetizer was not that great. The coconut lime sorbet was a perfect way to end this memorable meal. Come just before Sunset to get the full effect! More

This is by far the most incredible turnaround a restaurant has ever had. The owners have put their hearts into the menu, wine list, decor, and service. The vibe is amazing and the menu keeps getting better every year. On New Year's Eve, they put... off fireworks at 9:00 so people could enjoy before the Four Seasons show.
