This yacht’s wide swim platform is accompanied by a hidden swim ladder and a walk-through gate to the transom to ensure safety. Once on deck, you’ll notice the sumptuous wraparound lounges on the aft cockpit, ideal for dinner or drinks with friends around the large teak table. A fully retractable awning guarantees shade in hot, muggy weather. Owners who wished to make the most of this social hub had the option to install a Kenyon grill, Norcold refrigerator, and cockpit wet bar with icemaker - ideal for summer cookouts. However, the standard galley, located aft of the salon, is perfectly positioned to serve the cockpit. With the bi-fold salon doors flung open, owners can enjoy a seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

This feeling of freedom continues into the salon, where ample seating to starboard and a well-appointed portside galley sit beneath a large fully-powered sunroof for that al fresco feel. An enormous in-sole storage unit nearby offer substantial space for anything you need, including an optional wine cooler and/or a washer and dryer.

The galley on this boat blends in to its surroundings, adding ambience to the free-flowing layout. Equipped with a Novacool refrigerator, convection microwave oven, double stainless-steel basin sink, a cooktop and excellent ventilation, the galley acts as the engine of entertainment aboard this yacht. A wall-mounted TV can also be found here, positioned directly opposite the lounge area for movie night or the big game.

At the forward helm, captains will delight at the console, which features two double-wide seats for skipper and mate. A flip-up bolster in the captain’s seat allows operators to adjust it to their preferred piloting style. The console features as standard hydraulic steering with a tilt steering wheeling, joystick, 12V switch control panel, electronic engine controls and engine display, compass, and trim tab controls. There is also plenty of space on the dash for an optional Raymarine E120 display with GPS, chartplotter, depth sounder, radar, VHF and autopilot.

Below deck, a well-appointed and versatile stateroom awaits. Twin berths transform into a double thanks to a filler cushion, offering comfortable sanctuary from the main deck, while a Samsung TV, reading lights, and charging port offer all the comforts of home. A hanging locker with mirror offers storage for your wardrobe. This cabin enjoys en suite access to the roomy day head with a shower big enough to stand in, sink and storage, medicine cabinet, and a window and opening porthole for natural light and ventilation. With two standard 380HP or option 480HP Cummins engines and a 342-gallon fuel tank, the C43 offers the flexibility to cruise or go wide-open throttle at impressive speeds. The more powerful 480HP engines were a popular upgrade for buyers of this yacht, topping out at around 33 knots.

Vessel Walkthrough

Like all Carver Yachts the C43 Coupe is built tough utilizing “Infusion Technology” along with an extraordinary stringer system that reinforces the bow as much as the bottom.

That means less weight, more strength, and better performance! Carver’s manufacturing operation is unique in the industry, possessing in house capabilities for components usually left to sub-contractors. Craftsman produce cabinetry, upholstery, and do metal fabrication in on-site workshops where the boats are built. This horizontal integration allows for increased quality and customization not seen in this type of production yacht.

The C43 helm offers all around visibility with its large windshield and side windows. With the sunroof and side windows open the breeze will flow through the salon. The well thought out dash area provides abundant space for the latest navigation equipment and system controls. The helm seat slides forward and back to easily adjust to your desired position and the flip up bolsters change position quickly allowing you to operate the boat sitting or standing as you desire.

The impressive exterior lines that the C43 acquired by using a classic axe bow and high freeboard not only provide exceptional performance and seakeeping, but it also has the added benefit of creating loads of additional interior space. This is most evident in the bow of the C43 where the lower deck a boasts a full 2 stateroom, 2 head layout that is unheard of in yachts in her class.

When Carver’s designers carried the C43 Coupe 13’6” beam forward it resulted in providing a spacious lower deck where the abundant amount of space that it produces is quite unexpected.  This is most dramatically displayed in the large master stateroom with its elevated island queen size bed, 6’6” headroom all the way forward, two hanging closets, four overhead cabinets and lots of natural light provided through the large windows and overhead hatch.

The guest stateroom can be configured either as two twin beds or by installing the filler

cushion it converts to a full queen bed. A large hanging closet and storage cabinet offers ample space for their gear and additional storage under the bunks. An overhead etched glass skylight and large side window add natural light, contributing to open feeling of the space. Adding a flat screen TV and separate stereo system will provide your guest with all the comforts of home while aboard.

Standard Features

Construction

• Hull and deck: Hand-laid structural and non-structural fiberglass and core laminates bonded with 

infused resin.

• Hull bottom: Surface beneath the water line is bead blasted to create an optimal bonding surface 

for the anti-fouling paint which is sprayed onto the hull to create a smooth running bottom.

• Stringer system: Fiberglass stringers are used throughout the yacht.

• Interior bulkheads, cabinets and drawers are precision cut, hand crafted and constructed from a 

selection of woods and high-pressure laminates. Drawers are lined with laminate.

• Integral aluminum truss reinforcement in cabin top structure.

• 12V System: Powered by an array of Series 31, 12V batteries. Array includes two dedicated engine 

starting batteries and one dedicated “house” battery. Battery banks are charged by a 60 amp charger

for each bank. System voltmeters are located on the ship’s 12V distribution panel and voltmeters at 

the helm station. Battery on/off switch for the house battery is installed in the salon and the 

selector switch for engine batteries is located in the engine compartment.

• 110V System: System consists of a 30-amp service supported by Marinco® 50’ (15.2 m) shore power 

cord. Ground fault circuit interrupters are incorporated into the onboard system.

• Television: Cable television is supported by onboard inlets in the salon and master stateroom and  a 50’ (15.2 m) CATV cable to connect

to shore outlet.

• Engines: Twin Cummins 6.7 L, 380 HP diesel inboard engines with direct coupled v-drives. Each  engine’s exhaust is routed to a Hydralift muffler and underwater exhaust port.

• Shafts and shaft logs: 1.75” (3.8 cm) diameter stainless steel propeller shafts. Tides Marine® 

SureSeal shaft logs are self-aligning, dripless and maintenance free. Sacrificial anodes are  installed on each shaft.

• Rudders and Propeller Struts: Made from durable 421 Manganese bronze.

• Propellers: Nibral CNC propellers.

• Fuel Tanks: Twin, 5052 aluminum tanks hold 175 gal. (662.4 L) of fuel each. Port and starboard  fuel fill deck fittings.

• Trim Tabs: Bennett Marine® stainless steel, electro-hydraulic trim tabs.

• Steering: Teleflex® SeaStar hydraulic steering.

• Helm Display: Digital LCD display showing tachometer, hour meter, oil pressure, coolant  temperature, battery voltage, fuel tank level and

rudder angle indicator.

Fresh Water & Holding Systems

• Fresh Water System: Three 40 gal. (151.4 L) polyethylene tank with shore water connection and 

integrated pressure reduction valve.

• Fresh water fill fitting installed on walkway. Eleven gal. (41.6 L) water heater installed in engine compartment.

• On demand fresh water is delivered via a fresh water pump installed

in the engine compartment.

Decks & Hardware

• Rails: 1” (2.5 cm) 316 stainless steel rails are used throughout the vessel. Rail stanchion bases  are secured using aluminum backing plates laminated into the deck’s fiberglass layup.

• Mooring Cleats: 10” (25 cm) mooring cleats are used at the bow, stern and amid ship (total of nine cleats). Cleats are secured using aluminum backing plated fused into the vessel’s laminate.

• Foredeck Access: Wide walkways are on each side of the cabin top and provide safe, secure access from the cockpit to the foredeck.

• Foredeck Hatch with screen.

Safety & Navigation

• Bilge Pumps: Two 1,500 gal. (5678 L) per hour automatic bilge pumps are installed, each with a  manual on/off switch at the helm. A float switch for the high bilge water alarm is installed in the  engine compartment and forward bilge.

• Bilge Ventilation: Four ventilator blowers are installed in the engine compartment. Each blower  creates 240 CFM volume.

• CO Alarms: Monitors with alarms are installed in both staterooms and the salon.

• Engine Alarms: Engine oil pressure and water temperature alarms are installed at the helm.

• Fire Suppression System: An FE241 Fireboy® automatic fire suppression system is installed in the  engine compartment.

• Compass: 2.75” flush mount, illuminated Richie® Navigator compass is mounted at the helm.

• Seacocks: Marine grade bronze seacocks are used on all below the waterline thru hull openings.  Nylon fittings are used on above the waterline outlets.

• Spotlight: ITT Jabsco® remote control spotlight mounted on bow rail.

• Bench helm seat, adjustable electrical controls.

• Sport steering wheel.

Carver C43 Coupe

Carver Yachts plans to unveil the C43 Coupe at the Miami International Boat Show in February.

The C43 Coupe is a two-cabin design meant to offer best-in-class headroom. Features include an electrically operated sunroof, a retractable sun shade, 360-degree views from the salon and an indoor-outdoor living space when the sliding-glass door is open to the cockpit, which includes a wet bar for entertaining.

A galley is aft and two heads are aboard, one private with the owner’s cabin and the other for use as a day head and by guests in the second cabin.

Walkaround decks are outfitted with integrated railings for use as secure handholds, and an interior helm station is designed to let the captain sit, stand or lean on a flip-up bolster while underway.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
