Starbucks owner's superyacht with helipad and glass-bottomed pool in Cornwall

The luxury yacht of billionaire Starbucks boss Howard Schultz has been spotted in Cornwall .

The yacht, named Pi, has an estimated worth of £118million and arrived at Falmouth Harbour on Wednesday morning. It was then moved to Pendennis Shipyard.

The vessel was built in 2019 and has a length of 77 metres, making it the 195th largest yacht in the world.

Pi can host up to 12 guests and 18 crew members and has its own helicopter pad, glass-bottomed swimming pool and onboard spa facilities.

Mr Schultz bought the famous coffee chain in the 1980s and is ranked by Forbes as the 209th richest person in the world with a net worth of £3.7billion.

He is credited as Starbucks’ founder despite the company being founded in 1971 by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker at Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

The businessman made most of his billion-dollar fortune thanks to Starbucks. He served as the chief executive officer from 1986 to 2000 and returned during the financial crisis of 2007–08.

He recently returned to his role as CEO of the company.

Movement Reporting

Vessel movement reporting details are laid out in Admiralty List of Radio Signals, Volume 6.

All large vessel movements in excess of 20m LOA should be reported to ‘Falmouth Pilot Radio’ on VHF ch 09 with at least 15 minutes notice prior to the movement commencing.

This is vital to ensure that movement information can be recorded and promulgated for Port Safety.

Large yachts are expected to comply with all relevant reporting requirements.

Mystery luxury superyacht spotted off the coast of Cornwall

A luxurious superyacht has been spotted in Cornwall this week. M&EM, which is listed at number 238 on the list of the largest yachts in the world, was moored off St Ives until this morning (August 17).

According to recent port calls, the 74m (244ft) vessel travelled from Monaco to Gibraltar then to Vigo, Spain, before heading to UK shores. The vessel is currently en route to the port of Plymouth and was expected to arrive there this afternoon.

At the time of its launch last year, M&EM, which weighs 1,790 tonnes, was the seventh yacht to be made from the bespoke 242 series from Amels.

Adorned with a unique glossy blue hull, white superstructure and sweeping large glass windows, the super yacht is a truly stand-out vessel from The Netherlands. The superyacht caught the attention of plenty of people in St Ives yesterday. Alison Quail captured pictures of it off the shore.

Alison told CornwallLive : “It did attract a lot of attention yesterday... as you can imagine. “My 12 year old son was harassing me to share it on our family chat too, he was so impressed. It's amazing what you happen to spot in this lovely town. Another year, another amazing view.”

M&EM features exterior design by Tim Heywood Design Ltd. and interior design by Winch Design. Up to 12 guests can be accommodated on board the superyacht and she also has accommodation for 19 crew members, including the ship's captain.

According to YachtCharterFleet , M&EM has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in six suites comprising two VIP cabins. The master suite incorporates its own study and dressing room as well as a his and her bathroom. The incredibly lavish features also include a beauty salon, underwater lights, beach club, deck jacuzzi, Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

The design features were customised to suit the owner’s requirements, including increased capacity for a helicopter and a different configuration for her stern area. M&EM comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaching a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 175,000 litre fuel tanks.

While the owner of this superyacht is currently unknown, following the successful sea trials last year, the bespoke M&EM departed Damen Yachting's facilities in the Netherlands and was handed over to her owners. Sadly, it appears to not be available for charter or sale, in case you were wondering.

Sailor enjoys sausage sandwich after dramatic rescue off Cornwall coast

The yachtsman was rescued off the coast of Cornwall after suffering rigging failure

A solo Transatlantic yachtsman was treated to a welcome sausage sandwich and coffee following a dawn rescue off the coast of Cornwall. The lone sailor was onboard a mini Transat yacht when he suffered rigging failure 20 nautical miles north west of the Longships Lighthouse landmark in West Cornwall.

Unable to control his yacht, he called in for help and two RNLI lifeboat crews sprang into action to come to his rescue. First to be called out were the crew of Sennen Cove Lifeboat who received the call from Falmouth Coastguard at 1.40am this morning (Sunday March 17).

The lifeboat located the sailing boat and successfully rigged up a tow, with coxswain Ollie George heading back towards Newlyn . Penlee Lifeboat launched their lifeboat at 5.40am with coxswain Patch Harvey at the helm, mechanic Tony Rendle and five volunteers onboard.

A spokesperson for Penlee Lifeboat said: "Our crew made good progress and met our colleagues from Sennen Cove two miles north of the Longships. At 7am the tow was exchanged and Sennen Cove lifeboat returned to station."

The spokesperson said that the Penlee Lifeboat returned back to port safely despite having to re-connect the tow twice and the rescued sailor was safe in harbour by 11am. They added: "The yacht skipper was very appreciative of the assistance provided by both lifeboat crews and Falmouth Coastguard who coordinated the rescue.

"He also very much enjoyed a sausage sandwich and coffee at the Penlee Station."

Shortly before 4pm, Penlee Lifeboat station received another tasking request from Falmouth Coastguard this time the inshore lifeboat was despatched after reports of a surfer in difficulties near Porthleven. The spokesperson added: "Thankfully the surfer got to shore safely before the Inshore Lifeboat launched."
