Benetti designed the 44M series to be a long-distance cruiser: At 11 knots, it has a transoceanic range of 5,000 nautical miles. The world’s largest superyacht builder by number of projects, Benetti said the 44M is aimed at owners with nautical experience, who want “a balance between tradition and innovation.” The 44M is also one of the first all-composite superyachts from Benetti.

The design’s high points include a 1,097-square-foot sun deck that is the most spacious in its class. The upper deck has a bow pool as well as the pilothouse. The full-beam owner’s apartment on the main deck measures 645 square feet, and includes a large en-suite, a walk-in closet, and a separate office area attached to the main bedroom. The other staterooms include two VIP cabins and two smaller cabins with twin beds.

It’s also one of the quietest yachts in the under 50-meter class. Benetti focused on reducing noise in multiple ways, including using elastic coupling on the transmission system, floating floors, and bulkheads on all decks to minimize vibration, and adding soundproofing around components like discharge piping on the main onboard spaces.

This vessel joins sisterships Ink and Lucky Wave , which have the same exterior profile and interior layout but with different interior designs.

During this festive Saturday of late January, the Azimut-Benetti Group President Paolo Vitelli took the word: “Slipway launches are part of the history of Benetti shipyards. The design of the big seamless glazed surfaces on the main decks allows natural light to flood into interiors accommodating 12 guests + 6 crew members in four cabins on the Lower Deck, while the captain has a private cabin on the Upper Deck, near the helm station.

Before the launch, 2 units had been already sold thanks to the collaboration of brokers Domeyachts and The Doc Yacht Services.

Benetti Yachts Launches the Diamond 145

Benetti Yachts in Italy has launched the first hull of its Diamond 145, which is expected to have a range of 3,600 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 11 knots.

“Diamond 145 springs from a project with a mission to improve life on board not only for owners and guests, but for all the crew too,” designer Giorgio M. Cassetta stated in a press release. “The sheer size of the yacht has made it possible to adopt an impressively ergonomic approach that ensures a majestic stance, while embracing ultra-modern details combined with a style that reflects the concept of a timeless yacht.”

Accommodations are for 10 guests in four belowdecks staterooms. The captain’s cabin is on the upper deck, near the helm.

Have any Diamond 145 hulls been sold? Yes. Benetti says two have been sold ahead of the first hull’s public debut.

FIRST DIAMOND 145 UNIT SOLD

Benetti is pleased to announce the sale of the first unit of the Diamond 145 model, the 44-meter displacement yacht presented last September during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018. The exterior lines, featuring huge glazed surfaces that accentuate the length of the yacht and ensure that the interiors are flooded with natural light, are the work of Giorgio M. Cassetta. The interiors feature light colour shades to decorate the yacht’s roomy, welcoming settings.

The year couldn’t have got off to a better start for Benetti. The Shipyard proudly announces the sale of the first  Diamond 145 unit. The new  flagship in the Class product line  is a yacht that symbolises power and balance.

Benetti’s CEO Franco Fusignani expressed his great satisfaction at the signing of the contract: “Diamond 145 was presented only four months ago but right from the design stage we realised it was a model with incredible potential, representing the perfect synthesis of the core features of the Benetti Displacement Class across its entire history. BP001 is currently being fitted out at the Viareggio shipyard and will be delivered to her owner on the first half of 2020”.

Diamond 145 is a yacht with a discreet sense of luxury that amazes even the most demanding owners when it comes to style, comfort and safety. She is an elegant yacht, with proportions and details that suggest important interior and exterior volumes, as well as conveying a sense of strength and power.

The sleek, clean exterior lines designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta embrace the proportions of a big yacht, with superstructure masses that are refined and dynamic, high hull sides high and an extremely long reverse sheer line.

The interiors, customised to reflect the owner’s tastes, features curved lines uniting big, welcoming settings flooded with natural light. In here, light colourways bring a cosmopolitan sophistication and elegance to a timeless yacht. As well as the spacious interior volumes, another feature of this yacht, are the extensive glazed surfaces not only in the saloons, but also in the guest accommodation and the owner’s cabin. The Master-cabin is full-beam, with a big wardrobe, a full-beam bathroom and an office, and occupies the bow area on the Main Deck.

Amidships on the main deck are the galley and services area, with a big saloon further aft. At the owner’s request, it was decided to leave more space for the lounge area furnished with big sofas in the main saloon. The dining area has been moved to the Upper Deck. The Lower Deck contains the night area for guests, with four double cabins, and a separate area for the crew accommodation. Outside, a low table and various sofas offer pleasant opportunities to relax both at sea and at anchor.

The beach club in the stern is designed to be at water level, in such a way as to make the space both independent and versatile, as well as being stunning to look at.

Two 1,400 hp Man engines drive BP001 to a top speed of 15 knots and at a cruising speed of 11 knots the yacht has a range of 3,800 nautical miles.

Benetti Diamond 145 is a series of Superyacht 145ft/44.06m superyachts built in in by Benetti. 7 Benetti Diamond 145 yachts were delivered so far, with the first of these series, motor yacht Papa Joe BP007 in 2024 , followed by 2023 Abbentures 2 BP006 , 2023 Sunrise BP005 , 2021 Lucky Wave BP003 , 2021 Emuna BP004 , 2020 Ink BP001 , 2020 Donna Santa II BP002 .

Created to a design of Giorgio M. Cassetta, Diamond 145 has a Displacement GRP hull and Carbon fiber superstructure driven by 2 x MAN V12 1400 hp engines to a maximum speed of 15 knots while comfortably cruising at 14 knots. The fuel tank has a capacity of 60 000l/13187gal what allows a yacht to cover 3800 nautical miles without the need to refuel. Benetti Diamond 145 has a beam of 9.05m/30ft. The gross tonnage of this Superyacht Benetti is 456 gross tons. That shows exactly how much interior space this yacht has.

Benetti Diamond 145 can accommodate up to 10-12 people in 5-6 elegant staterooms to be assisted by a total of 7 crew members.

Luxury super yacht Benetti Diamond 145’ is flagship in Benetti ‘Class’ line. Measuring 44.1-m in length, the superyacht features an exterior lines from renowned designer Giorgio M. Cassetta. Billionaires are getting ready for summer with wildly spectacular superyachts

• Superyachts, the most expensive asset  a billionaire can own, are pushing the boundaries of luxury.
• The boats, which cost eight or nine figures, are getting larger and include more features than ever.
• From massage rooms to basketball courts, here's what the world's richest want on board.

For many wealthy boat owners, a private spa is a must-have on board. A sauna is a nice touch. A Jet Ski or two makes days at sea way more fun. And if you don't have someone on board who can whip up a Michelin-star-worthy meal , you might as well stay on land.

In the world of massive yachts , there's no such thing as too much. After all, if someone spends eight or nine figures to design the vessel of their dreams — or at least $500,000 a week to charter one — more is more.

"Yachting. It's not rational; it's emotional," Ralph Dazert, the head of intelligence at SuperYacht Times, told Business Insider at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, where dozens of superyachts — often defined as vessels over 30 meters in length — were on display.

And while there are certain classic features, such as jacuzzis and bars, what superyacht owners want is evolving, insiders at the show said. That might mean more crew members, more space for helicopters, or more water toys, but might also include manicure salons and putting greens.

"The bar of what is the baseline expectation has increased exponentially just over the last four or five years," Anders Kurtén, the CEO of brokerage Fraser Yachts, said. Clients are "spending more time on the boat and really wanting to extend the lifestyle they lead on the shore."

A lot of this can be chalked up to the pandemic. Superyacht purchases and charters spiked as life and luxury travel on land screeched to a halt. While the market has moderated slightly, the number of superyachts on order — 1,166 as of September, according to Boat International's Global Order Book — is still above pre-pandemic norms.

"What the pandemic really showed is that the appetite for being out there at sea, sort of living the marine lifestyle, is still as valid as ever," Kurtén said.

That means there's a lot of money on the water. The total value of the 203 superyachts over 30 meters delivered last year was $6.4 billion, according to data from SuperYacht Times. New custom builds from the world's most prestigious shipyards — Lurssen, Feadship, Oceanco , Benetti — can run into the hundreds of millions. Even used superyachts at the Palm Beach show cost as much as $75 million.

And it's not just traditional buyers like retired wealthy couples looking for a place to relax or celebrities looking for a place to party away from the paparazzi. New clients are often younger and have families, so want areas to work and watch movies . They also want pricey water toys, access to fitness equipment, or even pizza ovens for picky eaters.

"This would've never happened in the nineties," said Giovanna Vitelli, the vice president of the Azimut Benetti Group, the world's biggest producer of superyachts. "You would go with your beautiful woman, Champagne — the idea of yachting was much more showing off with your jacuzzi and things like that."

Pure opulence has made room for function.

When Benetti's Nabila set sail in 1980, its 50-person crew, gold-and-diamond-encrusted interiors, and lavish parties captured headlines and even inspired the Queen song "Kashoggi's Ship."(Seven years later, Donald Trump bought Nabila for $30 million , renaming her the Trump Princess.)

"Life on board was considered very formal — big formal dining rooms, boats were high on the water, you would be segregated from the rest of the world," Vitelli said, remembering another client who insisted on a replica of the Sistine Chapel above the dining table.

But the ostentatious, palatial-like interiors that used to be highlighted in yacht brochures have made way for lists of more functional features .

Rather than esoteric novelties like an extra-large safe for rifles that one builder had to construct per a Russian yacht owner's request , the superyachts on display at the Palm Beach show featured basketball courts, saunas, and ice baths.

Owners want elevators and luxury gyms. Pampering options, be it a massage room, manicure station, or a professional-grade facial machine, are a dime a dozen. Some bathrooms have fancy Toto toilets, which can cost around $20,000.

Sterns (that's the back of the boat) used to be built high to guard guests' privacy. Now, they're built as "beach clubs" — an open swim platform.

And what good is a massage room if no one on board can give one? Many superyachts can hold twice as many crew members as guests, if not more. One broker, representing a boat that didn't have a masseuse, said it could be quite a "tricky" issue because if a charter wants one, they have to find someone who can massage guests and "pull their weight with the crew."

"It's not uncommon to look for a deckhand who can also mix a martini, play an instrument, maybe entertain the guests with singing, and ideally even give a massage," Kurtén said.

Of course, a crew comes at a cost . Most are considered full-time employees, requiring salaries and benefits like health insurance. Captains, first mates, and chief engineers often make six figures a year. That's without tips; a charter guest will typically spend six figures on gratuities for the crew who worked during a weeklong vacation.

For the superrich, there must be room for toys.

It's not just the onboard amenities that count. What's known as "toys" in the industry — water slides, eFoils, Jet Skis, and underwater scuba diving jets — are popular, and costs range from merely hundreds of dollars (banana boats) to millions ( submersibles , which are still popular despite the recent tragedy).

" Tenders and toys, the sky seems to be the limit," Kurtén said. "More is more."

If you can't fit all those toys in the yacht's storage space, you can just use another boat. Jeff Bezos' support yacht is a superyacht in itself, measuring 75 meters and costing tens of millions of dollars. (His main yacht, Koru , cost a reported $500 million.)

Support yachts are also faster, meaning the crew can get to a destination first and set up the Jet Skis, seapools, and the like, Dazert said. "By the time the owner arrives on the main yacht, everything's set up, and he can go and have fun."

Even tenders, the smaller vessel that brings guests from the ship to the shore, are getting glow-ups. The Nero, a 90-meter beauty available to charter for about $500,000 a week and modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship, has custom-built tenders to match the design. The most expensive ones often cost seven figures. Nero has three.

"It used to be a tender was a tender," Jeffrey Beneville, who handles yacht insurance at NFP, told BI. "Now they're called limousine tenders. Think of an incredibly luxurious gondola that's got a hard top so nobody's hair gets mussed when they're being dropped off at the Monaco Yacht Club ."

One thing that clearly hasn't changed in superyachting: showing off. If the boat next door at the marina has an indoor-outdoor cinema, it's natural to want one too. Ditto a wine cellar or helipad.

"It's a bit of a celebration of your success in life, of wealth," Vitelli, whose company is behind the Lana yacht Bill Gates chartered for a birthday party three years ago, said. "You push it a little more."

And that's a boon for yacht makers and brokers catering to the superrich.

"Our job is to make clients' dreams come true," Kurtén said.

Benetti is proud to announce the delivery of the first Diamond 145 unit, the new Class category flagship that at 44 meters in length represents the perfect marriage of tradition and innovation. The impressive and imposing exterior lines penned by Giorgio M. Cassetta are matched by spacious interiors bathed in a contemporary, welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere and designed by Benetti’s Interior Style Department.  

With a fiberglass hull and gross tonnage of 469 tonnes, Diamond 145 has five cabins sleeping 10 guests and five cabins for a crew of eight plus the captain. At a speed of 11 knots, the yacht has a range of 5,000 nautical miles.

With this project the shipyard speaks directly to owners who already have plenty of experience and awareness about onboard necessities: generously-sized spaces not only for the owner and guests but also for the crew, maximum silence, and build standards aligned with the yard’s traditional design culture.

Achieving a balance between tradition and innovation has always been one of the goals of Benetti yachts, which have won the hearts of owners around the world. Class category flagship Diamond 145, launched in January and delivered in Viareggio on July 20, is one of the new models from the Tuscan shipyard that best embodies this difficult but fascinating combination. 

Traditional values are interpreted with deep respect for the Benetti family feeling and the stylistic hallmarks of the fiberglass yachts in the Class category, which are designed by famous architects and feature unprecedented luminosity and habitability. Innovation is evident in the amazing modernity of exteriors featuring essential lines, in interiors furnished with refined contemporary materials, and in the use of unprecedented construction solutions that improve comfort and its durability as time passes by using high quality components.

Exterior lines: grandeur, elegance and light Diamond 145’s superstructural masses are refined and dynamic, the hull sides are high and the reverse sheer line is extremely long. The huge glazed surfaces created by the yacht’s exterior designer Giorgio M. Cassetta accentuate the yacht’s length and flood the interiors with natural light.

Cassetta, who is one of the youngest and best-known designers on the international yachting scene and has collaborated with the yard since 2013, commented on the results of his work by saying: “Diamond 145’s size offered the opportunity to develop an imposing vessel with a majestic bearing and highly contemporary detailing, combined with an approach to style that reflects the idea of a timeless yacht”. His work is driven by the desire to offer a contemporary take on the classic style that has made Benetti yachts famous all over the world.

Created for an expert and demanding owner, Diamond 145 has a profile that exemplifies the revisitation of neoclassical style. The relationship between light and dark-coloured volumes encourages the notion of powerful, extended shapes, giving the yacht a look that is both majestic and consistent with the Benetti’s heritage. Teak, steel and glass bestow unprecedented sophistication on spaces reminiscent of an even bigger yacht, not least the outdoor stairway on the left side, which climbs seamlessly from the yacht’s point of entry to the top of the Sun Deck.

Layout: boundless spaces for megayacht-style comfort The layout has been carefully studied to emphasise and take full advantage of both exterior and interior spaces, ensuring the maximum convenience and an unprecedented sense of welcome. Crew and guest flows are devised to ensure maximum privacy, not least on the Sun Deck, which at 102 square meters is the most spacious in the category. On this deck, the space in the fore contains a comfortable sofa and a dining area with a table, plus a big relaxation and sunbathing area aft that can be furnished as required by the owner.

Amidships, a big living room with a dining table and a space for relaxing leads to the outdoor area in the stern, which is furnished with a table and a series of sofas.  

The expansive full-beam owner’s apartment covers about 60 square meters in the bow on the Main Deck. This exclusive suite has a big bathroom, a roomy walk-in wardrobe and a separate office area leading to the Master bedroom. 

In the central section of the deck, the day area is furnished exclusively with a series of sofas and low tables. The undisputed protagonist in every space remains the light, which literally floods into the Master and salon through the huge glazed surfaces designed by Cassetta, helped by a design feature that moves the exhaust trunks further forward than usual. This has made it possible to create a big bowed glass salon door that allows the light to enter and increases the sensation of indoor and outdoor areas flowing seamlessly into each other. 

The outdoor space that opens out behind the living area is furnished for long periods of total relaxation both at anchor and at sea.

Full-width sliding glass doors in the transom open out onto an elegant beach area fully appointed with sofas and a bar, offering direct access to the sea. To amplify the feeling of being in touch with nature and eliminating the barriers between indoors and outdoors, the only thing separating the indoor and outdoor beach areas is a step just 20 centimeters high. This space can be furnished and used in different ways, as required, both at anchor and at sea. The garage area, which is completely separate from the rest of the yacht is positioned on the side to avoid interfering with the owner and guests, can accommodate a tender over 6 meters long, two three-meter jet skis and various water toys.

The four double cabins with bathroom for guests, out of which  two VIP cabins with double beds, and two cabins with twin beds that can be converted into doubles, are on the Lower Deck, as are the five cabins for the crew of eight plus the captain.

High build standards that reflect the “Obiettivo 50” design culture The design culture at Benetti has always focused on how to ensure that the yard’s yachts can be enjoyed as time passes, giving satisfaction not only to the first but also to all future owners. This mindset drives the yard’s engineers and designers to find solutions to construction challenges that not only improve comfort but also ensure its durability, that reduce and facilitate maintenance requirements by using components of the very highest quality and by introducing increasingly smart fitting-out techniques, and that make it easier to refurbish the decor in future years.  Benetti recently decided to give this mindset a name: Obiettivo 50. A name that combines the desire to create the classics of the future, as well as the ability to build boats of the very highest quality that stand the test of time, without losing any of their charm, elegance and functionality. 

The effects of this culture are there to see as soon as you go on board Diamond 145. When at sea, the level of silence is quite simply exceptional and puts the boat at the top of its category. This has been achieved by making use of every available solution to reduce noise and vibration to the bare minimum: from a transmission system fitted with an elastic coupling and thrust bearings, to floating floor and bulkheads on all decks (from the Lower to the Upper Deck), the bypass electrovalve fitted to the engine idling exhausts, and soundproofing on the discharge piping in the main onboard spaces.

Moreover, the complex Air Treatment Unit (ATU) has filters to remove dust and water particles and ensures that the air throughout the yacht (owner, guest and crew areas) is fresh and clean by changing it six times an hour. 

The fiberglass used for the boat’s exteriors, like all the models in the Class category, is finished with epoxy fillers and painted white to achieve outstanding levels of gloss and aesthetic finish, and to guarantee it stays that way over time. For the same reason, the steel on the deck is all hand polished, piece by piece.

Inside, all decorative wall and ceiling panels are meticulously identified by a barcode and applied using the fitlock system. This level of attention to detail ensures the possibility of rapid repairs, as well as enabling future owners to refurbish the interiors more easily.

Engines and range The engine room, with a separate Engine Control Room like on a megayacht, contains two 1,400 HP Man 12V engines, giving Diamond 145 a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 11 knots. Top speed is 15 knots and cruising speed 14 knots.

The delivery of Diamond 145 confirms the success of the fiberglass yachts built by Benetti, with sales topping 300 units over the years, and looks ahead to a particularly lively season for Benetti, with various launches and numerous deliveries scheduled in the run up to the start of the autumn boat show season.
